Vehicle stalls no re-start traveling 80 mph on interstate. complete stall dead stick , no dash lights , no power.!!! coast to stop no re-start. dead
I was at a stop waiting to make a left hand turn, when i saw an opening to turn i accelerated, turned the wheel and had just barely cleared the oncoming traffic when my car stopped accelerating and my engine cut entirely. i coasted through the rest of the turn with no power just barely avoiding being hit. i looked at the dash and saw my battery light flashing and my info center displaying the message you see when you first enter your car "to start engine put foot on brake and press start button" (or some variation of this phrase, i can't quote it verbatim). it had stalled. i turned the car back on, called the dealership and they immediately sent someone to pick it up. i have owned my brand new car for 11 days and have only 700 miles on it. the dealership cannot find anything wrong with my car, cannot recreate the situation and there is no apparent recall on my car's year. there is, however; a recall on the model. fca's advanced communication for recall u87 on 8/16/18 does list my model year and the original documentation for nhtsa's 18v-524 does as well. the actual recall does not. i'm concerned as this recall documents an issue with the powertrain control module (pcm) that "may have been manufactured with a suspect voltage regulator chip on the electronic circuit board. if the pcm fails, the customer may experience a no-start, a start-and-immediate stall condition, or an engine stall while driving". that is an exact quote from the fca communication on 8/16/18 which lists my model & year. the dealer is unable to address this though as the recall does not. its clear to me this is the issue but this small exclusion of my model year leaves my dealership with their hands tied and me with a potentially unsafe car.
My new car has 2,800 miles due for an oil change at 5 months/5,000 miles. the engine failed once for no known cause after 2 weeks in the repair shop. now my car died while in motion on busy roads and a highway ramp at speeds between 15-40 mph without warning or lights. this is sla safety hazard as the steering goes and car just comes to a stop without any warning. i had it towed after it's 5th time in 4 days stopping while in motion and shutting down. jeep told me it's empty on oil but yet the oil light indicator doesn't come on. they said it is a known issue without a fix for all 2014-2019 jeep cherokees. they are aware but are not fixing or addressing the oil consumption without light issue that puts drivers in motion at risk of an accident or losing their life. if no warning is coming on that your oil is empty long before a die oil change and my car can just die while in motion along with others as again they stated it's a known issue is a road hazard for anyone in these cars. my car is 3 months old and i feel unsafe driving it on any roads for fear i will be hit by another driver as it's just losing power and shutting down in the street in motion. jeep cannot fix this but knows about it.
I was driving down the street and all the sudden my car just shut off. i had no control over the vehicle at all. then it started driving backwards as it was in drive. i couldn't not get it to go into park and it took a minute or 2 to get it into park. the. the dash told me to turn the car back on and it wouldn't turn back on at first. this is the second time this has happened to me. the vehicle was moving and just all the sudden turned off. i went and checked the oil after reading about this with other customers and i had no oil in my car.
Car shuts down while driving. vehicle prompts to 'restart' while the engine is still running. battery light flashes, vehicle must be turned off, put in park, and restarted. takes several seconds for starter to reingage and start the engine.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while the vehicle was making turns or idling at stop signs, it lost power and stalled. in addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate and there was an abnormal knocking noise emerging from the engine. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to 1-5 chrysler jeep dodge ram (1560 nw state ave, chehalis, wa 98532, (360) 748-1717) to be diagnosed, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted via certified mail, but there was no response. the failure mileage was 11,131.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee latitude. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact turned the vehicle off and back on and the vehicle operated as intended. the vehicle was taken to tuttle-click automotive group38 auto center dr, irvine, ca 92618 (949) 835-4812 where it was diagnosed however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. an oil change was recommended. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was then taken to another dealer, dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula 26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591 (951) 225-4541, to be diagnosed which was still pending. the contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 18v344000 (engine and engine cooling), nhtsa campaign number: 18v524000 (electrical system) as a possible solution to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
I leased a 2019 jeep cherokee on may 23,2018. on four occasions since that time, the car's battery light comes on and the car stalls out. the incidents have happened while in motion when slowing down (less than 10 miles per hour) the car was in a jeep dealership for several days this month, but they were unable to determine the cause of the problem. the problem happened again today, september 16th. a review of internet sites reveals other customers are experiencing the same problem with no resolution from jeep. i consider this problem to be a safety issue, and certainly one that should not be happening with a new car.
My vehicle shut off while driving. this suv is brand new, only 250 miles on it. i stopped at a stop sign, began driving and the engine shut off and would not start. several error messages came up on my display such as, service transmission, service power steering, service parking brake, service stability control etc. the car never restarted and had to be towed. i could have been killed if this happened while pulling on to a busy road. my dealer has had the vehicle for 4 days and has been unable to figure out the problem. *dt updated 10/18/18*jb updated 11/1/18 *dt consumer stated the car has been at foss motors in exeter nh since 9/14, they have unable to fix it. they have replaced a frayed wire which they believed fried the power control module chip. this has been replaced on 9/21/ and i expected the car back on 9/24 but when they backed it out of the service bay it wasn't running properly. they reached out to senior technians advised them to replace the power control module again and they replaced some throttle part. they called on 10/8 to say there were still problems. as of today, they have agreed to buy the car back and have started that process. chrysler corp is aware of the problems because i reached out to them to help facilitate what was going on and to help gather information. updated 11/02/18 *jb
Vehicle stalls while in motion-hundreds of complaints about the same problem on internet. jeep literally just shuts off- all 2019 jeep latitudes. battery light goes on very dangerous in traffic.
I have a 2019 jeep cherokee with 2000 miles on it. i am leasing it brand new. i bought it on july 10. on monday, sept 10, i was driving home from work and going about 45 miles per hours, suddenly the car went from 45 mph to 0 mph in a matter of seconds, i lose control of the power steering and power brakes and it stalled...in the middle of a busy street. it w as frightening. i put it in park, turned it off, tried starting it again, turned it off again, waited a few minutes, start it again and it started up called the husband to see if i should try to head home in it or call uber. we decided i was close enough to home to try again. it happened two more times on the way home. absolutely terrifying to be driving and have it completely shut down mid drive. i had a car going about 45 behind me swerve into another lane to avoid smashing into me. they will not fix it because they cannot see it happened on their system and can't duplicate the issue. it is a huge safety issue. i am afraid someone will be seriously injured. i also see this all over the internet when i search 2019 jeep cherokee engine stall in motion. so, i have to take the car back and drive it until it happens again.
Vehicle battery died while driving. has happened 3 times. happens at low speeds. power steering is turned off and you must turn car off and turn back on. very danergous because you can't turn your steering wheel when it is dying so easily could be hit.
The car stalled and came to a complete stop while in motion and making a left hand turn on a two-way street. was unable to start the car back up. after 5 minutes of trying, car started again. *tt
Vehicle stalls without warning while driving at speed. this was extremely dangerous when it occurred on the highway. it has happened numerous times and was towed to the dealer for repair. warning lights for check engine, service electronic throttle control, service start/stop system, service electronic stability control, and 4wd system temporarily unavailable light up.
I was stopped at a red light, waiting to turn right as i yielded to other traffic. i was slowly moving forward when my battery light flashed and my car stalled out and started rolling backward. i was in a lot of traffic, so i had to put my flashers on. a man offered to push me to the side of the road. i had already turned off my car, but decided to try turning it back on. it restarted fine; and started driving again. this could have been extremely dangerous if i had been driving at any higher of a speed. i only have 585 miles on this vehicle. i have read other people having the same exact issues and have taken them to dealerships with no solution. *dt *tr
Vehicle is shutting off while driving, causing loss of steering and everything else in the vehicle. this has happened twice. once at 30mph, and at 50 mph. luckily i did not wreck or hit someone. this vehicle isn't safe to drive. someone is going to be killed if this is not fixed. this seems to be related to a recent recall by fca affecting other 2019 jeep cherokee models. that states: the power train control module may fail and the customer will experience a no start, a start and immediate stall condition, or engine stall while driving.
I was in motion approaching a right turn and the vehicle died on me without any warning, in the middle of traffic. after putting the car in park, it took 5 tries to get the engine to turn over. that was a horrifying experience and the dealer claims to know nothing. *dt\ consumer stated vehicle stalled all of the dash lights came on. updated 10/2/18*jb
While driving, on a residential street, the engine shut down for no apparent reason. i had to put it in park and restart the car. i was lucky it did not happen on the interstate, it would have caused a serious accident. i have since read that other jeep cherokee drivers have had the same experience, some 3 incidents. i do not want to experience this 3 times. yesterday i traded cars, bought a different one. i'm 77 years old and i'm too scared to take a chance on a car that does that.
Vehicle locks up and completely dies while being driven at high speeds. steering wheel locks up. must come to a stop to put in park and restart car.
The car stalls while driving for no apparent reason. the engine turns off and there is no power on the dashboard. this will happen regardless of oil levels, even though the car has always had the proper oil level. it takes about 5 minutes to turn on again when you are in the middle of the street/freeway with traffic behind. the dealership was unable to find a problem, but it keeps happening on a daily basis.
Vehicle will randomly shut off while driving. there is no set of circumstances that this occurs. it has been to the dealership 4 times for this issue. *tt *tr
My 2019 jeep cherokee's engine has stalled 3 times prior to reaching 3000 miles. in each case, i was traveling at a low speed going up a slight incline. there was no warning, and only the orange battery indicator light showed on the display. the first time the cherokee's engine died, it started once the car was placed in park and the ignition button was pushed. the second time the cherokee's engine restarted once the car was placed in park and the ignition button was pushed. it ran a few seconds, the engine died again, and when placed in park and the ignition button was pushed, the engine hesitated and sounded like it did not want to start. the engine finally restarted. when i returned the car to the dealership, the service staff said that no service code was generated and that they were unable to recreate the problem. the staff also seemed unaware of any manufacturer's defect with the 2019 jeep cherokee's engine. i find this disturbing since i have read several posts online from owners of 2019 jeep cherokees stating exactly the same problem. is jeep really this unconcerned about the safety of its customers? jeep needs to do something immediately before a fatal accident is caused from this defect in their product. *tt *as
The auto start/stop feature kicks in as normal, however the car does not start back after doing so. this does not happen every time but happens often enough to cause issues, like in traffic, and on slops. the brakes lock up, and i have more than once started rolling backwards. all gears flash on the display, and i must cycle the key to fix the issue. possibly related to the underlying issue, but not the start/stop feature, if the car is in neutral for any period of time, such as when being pulled through a car wash, the exact same thing happens. when i try to shift back into drive to pull out of the car wash, the d flashes on the display, nothing happens, no matter how much time i spend trying to get it to register, which honestly isn't much, i have to get out of the car wash quickly, nothing happens. i'm left once again having to cycle the key and restart the vehicle. every single time after the issue happens when the vehicle has been in neutral, the start stop issue occurs on the first instance of it being engaged. the dealership doesn't seem to care, wouldn't even take a copy of my video, and are putting so many miles on my brand new vehicle to "replicate" the issue. this has been happening since early july, and jeep nor chrysler seems to have any answers as they've "never seen this before".
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the contact heard a chime and the vehicle slowed down and shut off in the left lane. the battery indicator flashed and start up instructions appeared on the instrument panel. the vehicle restarted after the second attempt and was driven to autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram (2201 victory drive, columbus, ga 31901, (855) 616-5890) for diagnostic testing, but no failures were found. the manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number, but there was no indication of what caused the failure. no repairs were performed. the failure mileage was 355.
I ready took my car 3 times to chrysler dealer, the issue is while i was driving the car shut off 5 times on the last 3 weeks, the dealer told me they cannot duplicate the fault so i need to keep driving like that, but what about if this happens on the freeway i will crash. i feel unsafe and the dealer don't want to do anything because they cannot duplicate the fault and is not a check engine light, and i ask what about if something happens to me or my family and they respond with chrysler will cover everything.
Purchased 2019 jeep cherokee latitude 4x4 2.4l engine on may 12th. only have 1,700 miles and it has stalled on me on three occasions not due to the ess. june 2018: -1st: while entering the freeway during rush hour it stalled, causing me to coast to a stop on the side, put it in park, and restart it. almost caused an accident. two weeks later: -2nd: coasting to a stop sign, stalled, coasted to stop, put in park, restarted. august 2018: today: coasted to stop sign, stalled, restarted. it has been to the dealer twice already since i purchased in may, they cannot figure it out and i'm not alone, please see this article: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t77882_ds917392 this is a huge safety concern as i'm nervous it will happen while on freeway, all three times the battery light came on as well as the charging icon. dealer has no idea what is causing this and i'm paying $457 for a brand new vehicle that is unsafe.
Check engine ,service throttle messages come on loss of throttle when driving city speeds
While driving a vehicle with only 4200 miles on it, the jeep staled without warning. jeep restarted and was driven. when i called the local dealership, i was informed to check my oil level - that it would be low and to refill. i asked how they know this and the dealership's service center informed me that this is a "known issue" with the 2.4 liter engine and is "common". i checked my oil, sure enough, it was low - i would say two (2) quarts low (in a 5 quart system). no "check engine light", no "service issue announcement" from jeep - no warning at all for a "known issue". this is inexcusable! oil temp was never above haft way, i still have 30% on the oil change meter. i owned a 2014 jeep cherokee and never had an issue with a 2.4l engine. can't wait to see what jeep is going to do for all the jeep cherokee owners that this "know issue" is going to affect.
In the las 3 weeks the jeep 2019 cherokee latitude plus when i was driving shut off while i was 5 miles per hours this is not safe at all, i took it to the dealer and they said is anything wrong with the car, but i am scare to drive the brand new car on the freeway, right now the car is again at the dealer
Three times while driving, then making a 90 degree turn, my car has stalled out. the only light that comes on is the battery light, and a message on the dash that says something like "car is not in park" . each time this has happened i have had to pull quickly to the side of the road, put the car in park and restart the car. there is never any warning light that the car is about to stall; the only light that comes on is the battery light, and that is after the car has stalled. i've taken it to the jeep dealer and they told me that the oil was low and it is actually a safety feature that the car will stall when the oil is low. my car is new, it only has 5200 miles on it. the oil should not be low. furthermore, i do not consider it a safety issue that the car stalls while driving, without any warning that the car is about to stall. *tt
Driving up a hill to a stop sign and once i reached the top of the hill at the stop sign the vehicle shut down. the battery light came on the dashboard. no other lights. was able to put in park and restart the vehicle. vehicle ran rough right after this happened. i was only a couple blocks from my home so pulled into my garage and shut the vehicle off. let it sit a couple minutes. restarted it and drove it a few blocks. everything seemed ok. called dealer and reported the issue. setup a time to have it looked at when they were going to replace the transmission valve body due to shifting issues they diagnosed on a prior appointment. when i received the vehicle back after they looked at it and replaced the transmission valve body, they indicated they could not find anything wrong. this is very dangerous and upsetting because i see there was recall for this exact same issue of stalling out. however, my vehicle is not part of the recall because it does not fall within the production start and ending date timeframe? seems to me jeep is just trying to save money and getting away with not repair additional vehicles that are unsafe. this is just wrong.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled and an unknown electronic symbol illuminated. the vehicle was taken to crowley chrysler jeep dodge ram (860-261-3000, located at 1461 farmington ave, bristol, ct 06010) where the software was upgraded, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and an unknown failure code was located. the dealer also diagnosed and replaced the engine. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file for an arbitration. the contact filed for an arbitration. the failure recurred and the same dealer installed a flight controller to track the failures. the contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v739000 (power train). the vehicle was repaired per the recall and the contact stated that the vehicle "appeared to be repaired"; however, she wanted the vehicle replaced. the failure mileage was unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while stationary, the vehicle stalled without warning and completely lost power. on another occasion, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to gwinnett chrysler dodge jeep ram (5054 us-78, stone mountain, ga 30087) where it was diagnosed that there was no oil in the engine. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,710.

The vehicle is burning oil. there are no leaks anywhere on the engine components or on my garage floor. i have always checked my oil faithfully on all my vehicles as i go out of town once a month. when i got the vehicle brand new i immediately checked the fluid levels. the oil level was half way between the hash marks on the dip stick. within a month and a half i noticed a decrease in the oil level. i have had the vehicle for 5 months and the oil level is barely above where the hash marks start. this is unacceptable. i reported this when they replaced my transmission valve body due to another issue. i was told the oil is within the hash marks and it is fine. it is not fine when a new vehicle is burning this much oil. i have read reports of the vehicle stalling being low on oil. i cannot have this happen to me going out of town. i have scheduled an appointment to have this addressed again because they did not document anything when i reported it to the dealer the first time. *dt updated 12/11/18*jb

Right after leases the new car , drive down to highway engine light on staring wheel not moving , stop the car side of highway, tow the car to other jeep dealer ,day after they called its working but didn't know what is problem. talk to original dealers to ask change other new one but they dined.
Engine shuts off itself while driving at 40mph in 3 different occasions . all issues in this car start with the radio reseting itself to antitheft/engineer mode or shutting off *tt
