Problems with 2017 Honda CR-V UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2017 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 17 666 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2017 Honda CR-V

Engine oil level over the maximum level. ac blows hot air in winter

Automatic gear shift button broke while i was shifting from reverse to drive. i was backing out of my driveway and couldn't shift to drive.

Honda cr-v 2017 bought december 23, 2017 from zimbrick auto madison, wisconsin july 15, 2018 the car was parked in our driveway and would not start. we have a towing company hauled in for repair. now, on occasion the car cabin smells gassy. the oil filler cap when removed also has a very strong gassy smell.

It was a record hot day, 100 degrees, and my cr-v was parked in my paved driveway, in the sun. i was watering my outdoor plants (not washing my car, our well water would only leave white spots on it) and waved the hose over my car and "pop!"- the front windshield cracked in two different places, both are large cracks, 10 and 18 inches. this was due, i believe, to the cool water on the hot windshield. i believe the car is now unsafe to drive as the cracks are so prominent and i question the windshield's integrity.

The chrome/plastic selector part that allows the vehicle to be shifted to and from park and the other automatic gears is a known flawed honda design. the shift selector button failed yesterday on our 2017 crv. due to the design being spring loaded, the broken part flew out of the shift selector and was lost temporarily. lacking this broken part and being unable to reinsert it properly into the selector, the vehicle can't be moved into park and thus by honda design can't be turned off. this is both a fire and safety hazard that is well known to honda (they used the poor design on earlier accord and other models). when speaking with honda service and part department agents, they readily acknowledge the design flaw, are disappointed honda continued to use the hazardous design (it was a same problem in earlier models). honda's response seems to be to let the selector buttons fail, keep a plentiful supply of replacements on hand in their parts departments and let the general public absorb the risks. this pattern and practice is both unsafe and unacceptable. honda needs to design a more robust selector button and replace all current ones via a recall.

Complete vehicle system problem messages. vehicle stability, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, electrical parking brake, emissions system, brake system, brake hold, power steering, hill start assist, tire pressure monitor problem, power steering system problem. every one of these systems is displaying a 'problem' message as well as brake light is flashing on the dashboard engine light is on brake system light is on steering wheel light is on vehicle stability light is on battery light is on and oil lamp is on. this is about the fifth time this has happened. i have also experienced this while driving. the vehicle will suddenly display all these error messages for no apparent reason. sometimes the error messages will pop up as soon as you turn the car on other times it happens suddenly while driving. it happens on city streets and on the highway straight away or turning

As i opened my driver's door of vehicle, which was backed in my driveway since yesterday, it started to rain and my rear hatch-back window exploded.the entire window was blown out.

Automatic transmission - button on gear shift broke and since it has a spring - the button can come out of the gear shift. if this occurs, the gear shift can no longer be used until the button is found are reinserted. this could result in numerous dangerous situation.

After starting up the crv in the garage, i exited it and climbed a short ~100' ramp about the height of 1 story at 10 mph or less. during at least two times in the past 7 months, the engine sputtered while climbing this ramp and neared a stall point. this occurred while in montana. after applying pressure to accelerator, sputtering stopped. additionally, there have been numerous times at startup when the central display screen freezes, remains black, denying navigation assistance among other options. it appears the only way to correct this is to restart the vehicle.

I was driving at about 45mph, and had to stopped in median of road to turn right. all of a sudden my honda crv 2017 stopped and all dashboard lights started flashing, it started showing all the following problems. 1) brake system problem 2) brake hold system problem 3) airbag system (srs) problem 4) power steering system (eps) problem 5) anti-lock brake system problem 6) vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem 7) hill start assist problem 8) adaptive cruise control problem 9) collision mitigation system problem 10) road departure mitigation system problem 11) auto high-beam problem 12) tire pressure monitor problem 13) all wheel drive system problem 14) lane keeping assist cannot operate 15) seat belt warning on and beeping even though seat belt was being worn. i tried to turn off, and turn on, nothing happened. exited the vehicle, checked the car. no physical damage. tried to start 2-3 times more, still no luck. i called the roadside assistance, and towed the car to dealer. dealer kept the car for 4 hours, and called me that it was low gas issue, and charged me $88. i am sure it was not low gas, and even if it was low gas, car warning should tell its not starting due to low gas. it should not be that all 15 errors start showing on dashboard.

2017 honda crv touring model car would not start twice in the first year. system seems to have some kind of drain on the battery when the car is off. first time, the car was not turned on for 3 days before trying to start it. the battery was bad so the dealer replaced it under warranty. next time it happened 6 months later, the car was not turned on for 1 day. battery tested fine and the dealer said there is no parisitic draw or any other problem. with my persistence, dealer did a system update. it is not acceptable for this to happen in the first year of having a car. plenty of 2017 crv owners are saying the same thing happened to them. it's all over the internet. honda must find a solution and issue a recall. otherwise, this car must be a lemon.

Problem: the 'apply 'brakes' light' appeared on the dashboard display and the brakes automatically applied, dragging the car from 65mph to 25 in about 80 feet. the suv behind me narrowly avoided hitting me. there were no cars in my lane ahead of me for est. 7 car lengths. narrative: clear day on the capital beltway, 495, inner loop immediately after the chain bridge road exit in virginia. i had accelerated from 30mph to merge from the highway 7/leesburg pike on-ramp onto the 495 inner loop into heavy traffic. this first lane from the right is a 'filter' lane where on-boarding cars and exiting cars must filter onto the freeway or an exit in about .2 miles. after entering the heavily trafficked filter lane i cleared and entered the second freeway lane, making 65mph to match traffic. nobody was turning into my lane. my lane (second from right) was clear an estimated 7 car lengths in front of my car, but lanes around me were heavily travelled due to several exits in a short distance. (tysons corner/highway 7, chain bridge rd (va 123), dulles toll road (va 267). after passing the chain bridge exit, before engaging the cruise control, i was jerked forward into the shoulder restraint as the brakes automatically engaged: the 'brake' indicator showing on the dash. i looked in my rearview mirror and noted a suv heavily braking to avoid impact. i hit the accelerator hard to increase the distance between it and me, making the brakes disengage. speculation: this model frequently locks onto cars leaving my lane ahead of my course of travel and heavily deaccelerates as they slow to exit speed. many cars were jockeying to exit in the lane to my right. my suspicion is the active braking system was traking some car in the right filter lane and applied brakes to match their exit speed, which could have been around 20mph.

The display in my 2017 honda cr v ex will start beeping at random and the brightness will start going up and down by itself. it is very distracting. i have seen others complain of the exact same problem, but i called honda and they said that don't have a fix. this happens while driving or while stationary.

Parasitic battery drain. car will not start after sitting overnight. dealer performed software update which did not correct the problem to d me that honda had issued a service bulletin on the problem

January 6th, 2018 car smelled of eggs and gas. drove car 70 miles the emmisions and engine light came on and car was towed from a busy hwy 61 mn to honda service center. they had crv for 3 weeks. changed oil & programmed injectors the oil had 1quart over of gas mixed into the oil. 700 miles later and car now has gas mixed into oil again and over the orange dipstick and smells of very strong gas. a service appointment made for march 14th, 2018 for oil change, rattle in the dash behind head unit and the heat problem as well. the no heat for winter driving with frozen windshield before driving and while driving is very dangerous! breaking down on a interstate hwy is also dangorus waiting 4 hours with no heat in car at -1 temp waiting for tow is dangorus. not happy about this at all!

I was driving on an interstate highway with the nearest vehicles at least a block in front and behind me. no overpasses, etc. it was very cold outside. traveling at 65 mph i heard a loud explosion. stunned, i immediately slowed down. looked up and saw a large hole in my sunroof. i exited the highway onto a city street where i could better look and discovered the car was full of glass shards. i drove directly to the dealer. dealer's initial response was that it would be an insurance claim. i disagreed as there was no vehicle nearby to account for any flying debris. after other reps examined the damage, they concurred it looked like it had exploded from the inside/out since some remaining glass was protruding upward. dealer repaired at no cost, provided loaner vehicle, and service record indicates cause was body flexing and extreme cold.

This vehicle is unable to properly heat up the cabin of the vehicle due to a poor thermostat engine. the suv takes a long time to warm up within colder northern climates and will not distribute the necessary cabin heat. dangerous in cold climates for children and elderly in the vehicle, especially when after 10-15 minutes of driving the vehicle is still blowing cold air out of the heat. honda claims that the issue is because the engine is too efficient.

Adaptive cruise works fine, except when it is unable to identify a stationary vehicle in front at a stop light. this happens when the vehicle is on adaptive cruise set and it fails to identify the stationary vehicle in front of it.

Honda crv 2017 collision system failed, led to brake fail and accident, feel unsafe driving now- on dec 28th 2017, while driving my 2017 crv, i had to stop at stop sign, i tried to apply brakes but they failed completely as in no response by pressing the brake pedal. the collission mitigation system on honda malfunctioned and messed with the braking, as a result the brakes failed and i hit the car in front. now my question is what will honda do in this case. i am also worried now for future, today i was driving at 10-15 mph in a small street and was alone in the car. what if my entire family was in the car and this happened on a freeway at 70-75 mph. my driver airbag was also deployed due to the collision today. i now feel unsafe driving my honda crv 2017.

Traveling on interstate at the speed limit the car suddenly braked. all safety systems were activated at this time. fortunately there was no traffic in front, behind or beside. i got the car under control , turned all systems off and proceeded. messages on dash indicated four systems were inoperatable. when i got home i called honda to report. they suggested i take the car to my dealer. i did so the following day. (this happened on a weekend) they indicated there was a "bulletin" out on this problem. they downloaded new software to correct the problem. now my concern. bulletins are only acted upon when an owner complains. the issue i outlined above warrants surely qualifies for more than a bulletin. at the same time.at the dealer i learned of another problem...a recall for a gas line issue. someone needs to inform the owners of this vehicle when a recall is made. i was not informed. i accidentally found out about it.at the dealer , consumer gives permission to discuss this matter with the honda corp *va *js

The advanced safety systems that rely on radar (auto braking, lane departure, etc) are unusable in very light snow. there was barely anything on the sensor cover, yet these important systems stopped working. this happened repeatedly throughout the day. wiping the sensor would restore function, but only for a couple of minutes, at both low speeds and on the highway. the vehicle has received the recent software update that was supposed to fix this. (tsb a17-064)

Faulty windshield glass. my vehicle's windshield cracked due to what appears to be weak oem windshield. when i turned on my vehicle defrost a slight crack appeared which continued on to spread along the bottom, near the defroster. a google search shows multiple complaints about 2017 windshield cracking for a myriad of reasons that don't have to do with an accident. the honda dealership where the vehicle was purchased refuses to replace the windshield unless i pay over a $1000. now, in order to avoid my insurance going up, i will have to pay over $500 to safelite to replace it. again this is not an isolated issue.

This vehicle has a major heating issue. the heating in the vehicle is the worst i have seen yet. you can literally be waiting for a train or at a stop light and watch the engine temperature fall down and your ventilation begin to blow cold air, even if you've been driving the car for half an hour before that. i use remote start almost everyday during the winter, i let the car run for about 15 minutes and when i get inside, it's still cold as if it hasn't been running. this is a safety problem for me because i have a 4 month old son and he can't be constantly moved from a warm into a cold environment. i live in chicago and the winters can be rough but i never had a vehicle that was this cold. i am so disappointed and i will never buy another honda again (i've owned a total of 3) unless they issue a recall and resolve this problem.

During a recent wet snow fall - the "radar" sensors warning light came on - this is a big distraction - the wet snow had accumulated on the front sensor of the car - why dont these sensors have a heater to keep them de-iced like airplane wings.

The apple carplay will disengage enroute. also, will not resync after car is turned off and turned on again. honda says they are aware of it, but no fix. possible safety issue if person try's to unhook and rebook carplay while driving.

The "tire pressure monitoring system problem" light comes on every time i drive the car at highway speeds. the car has only 3600 miles on it. the tires are properly inflated, but the problem occurs repeatedly after only about ten minutes of driving. recalibration of the tpms does not fix the problem and the car dealership offers no solutions. the problem has been on going for about a week.

It is quite common for the airbags to be turned off for the passenger seat even when my wife is sitting in it. we have not found a way to get them to come on. it seems that this is very unsafe. the issue has existed since the car was brand new.

Radio does mute when navigation system gives voice commands, forcing driver to look at display and thus distracting driver at critical times, e.g., intersections and exits. honda states it is aware of condition but no fix appears to be available.

I bought my car certified preowned from capitol honda in san jose. i was assured that the car had never been in an accident and it was a lease turn in. i had my airbags replaced last year and last week i rear ended a car and my car was totaled and the airbags never went off. i hit pretty hard. the report from my insurance is where i found out it had been in two accidents and was a rental. i should have been privey to that information when i was a shopper.

My car does not give any audio alert when i shut off the car and have it in gear. my car rolled away from parking spot and hit another car when i was not in it. per again, a traditional key cannot be removed from the ignition until the vehicle is in 'park.' fmvss 114 is quite clear on this point: since 1992, the standard has required vehicles with automatic transmissions that have a park position to have a key-locking system that prevented removal of the key unless the transmission was locked in park or became locked in park as the direct result of removing the key. this is a push start and it does not beep or anything letting me know it is not in park. the gear shiftier does not show what gear it is in. nhtsa is purporting to address these problems with a notice of proposed rulemaking, published in december 2011, with a new reliance on audible warnings, based on those already required in fmvss 403 (wheelchair lifts). the agency offered no human factors research to demonstrate that these warnings would be effective. i would like to know what happen in the december 2011 regarding cars having the audio able warning to let drivers know. i am happy that no one was hurt only my car and the other car but this could of killed someone walking by and that is why the was was put in place. honda says it puts a message on the screen when you shut it off, did not see that message as i was exiting the car that is why there should be a audio sound.

A sensor failure displays on the dashboard saying that some driver assist systems cannot operate: radar obstructed. honda of frederick tells me it's a weather related issue and manufacturing issue that they cannot do anymore to fix the problem. have happeed 4 times; recorded 3 times: driving in rain on highway, driving in snow in town, driving next day after snow but nothing on the road on highway. all straight ways. have invoices from dealer.

Was notified by neighbor that my passenger window behind driver side was broken. contacted police and they said it was probably a rock on the road that flung and hit the window and shattered it. no scratches on the car, no items were stolen. did not find any rocks or stones in the car where it could potentially be vandalism. seems as though this maybe a window defect similar to the other post regarding his sun-roof.

Frequent noxious gas fumes in the cabin of the vehicle. often when the vehicle is sitting idle, or starting, there is a strong smell of gas in the cabin. this issue began a couple weeks after purchasing the vehicle (february 3) and has happened most recently on may 28. the incident on may 28 was so toxic that i developed a headache and had to open all windows to try to relieve the issue.

Driving on thruway on ramp overpass and heard a pop...sunroof glass shattered...was told damaged from impact from stone....i wasn't near any vehicles that would have thrown a stone i was by myself on thruway overpass driving to get on thruway

I drove down the highway 65 miles per hour when suddenly the car computer got stuck and then started again giving different errors. deactivated brake system, frame missing gasoline, frame road stabilization system deactivated and finally speed control frame speed a fault.

Car parked at store. placed 6 yr old child into car to unload cart without fear of parking lot drivers. trunk open at that point. child asked for a/c (94f outside - hotter in car). with the remote, i performed "remote start" sequence. this did not work with trunk open. i closed trunk, performed start sequence, re-opened trunk to load groceries. after done, i closed trunk, moved cart to front of car. meanwhile, inside car, my child hit the start button. this placed the vehicle into auxiliary power mode (think radio on without engine running). hazard to life: once car is in auxiliary mode, if the doors are locked, the car cannot be opened in any way from the outside. the key remote will not work open car (car will beep only once each time). touching handle to unlock does not work (again one beep). the trunk cannot be opened with remote, with the hands-free feature, or with the normal "open buttons" on trunk. child was locked in a hot car with no way to get to her!! child could not open windows by herself (don't know if it wouldn't work due to auxiliary mode or if she didn't know how). ultimately i was able to talk her through manually unlocking door, but if she was experiencing a medical emergency or did not have the intellect, this could have had a very bad ending. i have the top of the line model, with all the optional safety features (mirrors, sensors, everything), yet something like this still happened. there needs to be a fail safe! how many children could climb into the car and inadvertently lock the doors while "play driving" by hitting the start button, placing car into auxiliary and parents cannot get in to them! omg honda - please fix this asap before someone dies.

The apple carplay constantly disconnects making my phone and navigation useless. the iphone will randomly disconnect and sometimes not register as connected.

Current miles = 4k. 1= battery went dead several times, was told update was done because issue w/parking brake circuitry. 2= various driver assist warning lights come on intermittently on dash.-issue not identified nor fixed. (ongoing) 3= recently pulled over by police nighttime-no tail lights, though front lights worked- driver of car was not familiar w/car- police fiddled w/ lightswitch got them working told driver to take it to dealer-no ticket issued. 4= noticeable lack of acceleration, fuel odor about vehicle, also sulphur smell after driving, heat does not warm cabin, nor defrost.defog windshield properly, oil black and overfull. oil changed, issues reoccur within a few driving miles (50-100). one dealer blames the other, honda says they didn't know of issues, dealer finally confirmed gas in oil. again-there is only 4k miles on this 'vehicle'. all these issues relate to safety, either to anyone inside the vehicle or others on the road. i have no confidence in driving this (paying more attention to cluster, driving subtleties etc than traffic), and am very upset in paying the payment each month while hearing the 2 dealers blame each other, and while honda shrugs their shoulders. i am taking it, once again, to the dealer this saturday for an 'update' to the software-per honda case mgr naomi xt 87075. documentation can be provided on request-- i am out of time and patience. there are many more people with these documented issues on this vehicle than are being reported here- (see google and social media). i dread having to drive it saturday nine miles to the dealer. this is the top selling car in its class-- there is a major problem being driven daily on the highways of the usa. my issues began april 2017 (purchases 3/30/2017) and have been ongoing through dec 2018. please help!!

Intermittently the air bag sensor and seat belt warning for front passenger fails to operate for varying lengths of time. the error has self corrected spontaneously after 20 minutes and up to an hour and a half of driving. this has always occurred with an adult in the passenger seat. the honda dealer has not been able to reproduce the error, but has seen our photo and video showing the problem. honda usa opened and closed the case because it was not reproducible at our dealer and we were told that video cannot be used as proof. (photos and video are on our phone. if you send an e-mail link we can send them to you from our phone if you walk us through the process.) this has occurred intermittently. it was first noticed on april 11, 2017. our videos are from august.

While driving @ 35 mph on the parkway i heard a loud pop coming from the roof area of the car. i then open to sunroof screen to find the glass was shattered but did not see any tree branch in site. the roof have no dent or scratch on it with was weird. i did some research and found out it could be "exploding sunroof" issue.

Weather teck driver floor mat. when passing does not allow acell. pedal to fully bottom. thus full power is not available. bump in mat stops full acell. pedal travel.

Test drove the car and didn't smell due to using a/c. on day of purchase, i changed the air to recirculate in cabin. that is when the inside of vehicle started smelling like gas with recirculating air on. in the first few minutes i did not notice the smell and assumed it was the "brand new" car smell but later after getting on the highway, the smell became very noticeable and caused me to feel dizzy and almost vomit. i pulled over and inspected the car to see where the smell was coming from and noticed the smell was mainly in the second row passenger area, where my 3 month old child and wife were sitting! i opened all the doors and for some reason changed air vent from recirculating to fresh air mode. was late at night and called salesman but he could not help me with anything other than telling me to bring it in the next morning. i had work in the morning so i decided to just bear with it and open the windows if the smell became too unbearable. after driving for about 5-10 minutes, the smell started to slowly fade away. i have yet to drive the vehicle again and will see if the gas smell comes back with the recirculating mode on. also, the smell was not noticeable with engine off, since the air vents were also off.

Collision mitigation system is malfunctioning when driving over metal plates: during construction, metal plates were put on the road where i work. they do not stick out, area flush with the street, and are about 4 feet wide. every time i get close to drive straight over them (at probably 20-25 mph), my car slams onto the brakes and comes to a complete stop. if anybody were behind me, they would rear-end me. a colleague of mine bought the same car and has exactly the same problem. i had my car checked out at a honda dealer and they told me everything is working properly. the system cannot be turned off permanently, so i have to turn it off manually every time i start the car. this is very dangerous, as somebody will get hurt soon if somebody is behind me and there is no reason i would come to such an abrupt stop.

Oil dilution diagnosed by dealer after multiple visits, no heat in cold weather, displays and audios going haywire while driving, stalled 6 times while backing up on different occasions, safety features not working properly while driving i.e. alerting that a car is next to you while driving city and country, no alert or driver assist safety feature when a car pulled out directly in front of me crossing traffic when antilock brakes worked properly and got stopped within 3 feet of other vehicle, car locked me inside after driving to work.....i have available videos of many of these issues available and they've been forwarded to honda case #08447969 and the dealership. also finally have documentation from the dealer diagnosing the oil dilution. they told me to drive the car and bring it in every time the dip stick goes above the fill line. no other issues were addressed and show as undiagnosed
