Problems with 2017 Honda CR-V SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2017 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 17 202 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2017 Honda CR-V

Experienced a false positive related to automatic braking system while driving (brakes locked up and tires screeched). there was nothing in front of the car and luckily no one was behind me.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 45 mph, all the warning indicators on the instrument cluster started to flash. the brakes were applied without the brake pedal being depressed. the contact stated that the failure occurred sporadically for the past year. the vehicle was taken to frank leta honda (500 auto mall dr, o'fallon, mo 63368) five times and they repaired the vehicle, according to their records. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and contact was asked to submit all the records and bills. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Mcminnville oregon at the intersection of ne baker st (hwy99w) and ne 12th st. while driving north on ne baker st and entering the intersection where at least two steel plates were in the road covering construction work our 2017 honda crv suddenly and unexpectedly applied the braking system. the electronic system designed to brake the vehicle to avoid an accident had suddenly chirped and alerted on the dash "brake!" and in less than one second the system applied the brakes quickly and hard. time was about 3:45pm, the sky was partly cloudy, temperature was about 45 degrees, the roads we dry and clear. only after reading other exact events with exact same scenarios did i realize that it appeared the steel plates in the road had confused the system. luckily no other cars were around or behind us and the four of us in the vehicle were no more that startled by the event.

On monday, october 14 my 2017 honda crv touring made a sudden stop on a perfectly clear day on the kelly ave bridge leading into my baltimore neighborhood. there was nothing in front of us or behind us. the automatic braking system came on and the car slammed to a halt. thankfully no one was behind us. i really thought i had been hit from behind--it was extremely jarring. i called honda corporate and filed a complaint and am taking the car in monday to the dealer so they can run a diagnostic check. my service representative told me to clean my windshield as that was probably what caused the event to occur. i was going approximately 25 mph--if we had been at highway speeds and a truck behind us it would have been a disaster.

I was driving on the highway at approximately 55 mph, clear sky and dry pavement. as i was coming around a curve the automatic braking system engaged, slamming on the brakes, coming to almost a complete stop. no other vehicles were close enough in front of or on the side of my vehicle to warrant the braking system to be activated. thankfully no other vehicles were close enough behind me to cause a collision. the dealer was notified of the issue although nothing was done as i traded the car in for fear of the issue occurring again. this was the second incident. the first incident occurred on a dry, 2 lane street, with a median between on coming traffic, within the first year of owning the vehicle. as i approached a green light at approximately 25 mph there was an oncoming vehicle on the opposite side of the road, stationary at the light, when the automatic braking system engaged slamming on the brakes, bringing my vehicle to a stop. no collision or injuries occurred with this incident. also, no notification to the dealer with this incident.

I was driving with my wife as a passenger on a 4-lane highway (2 lanes in each direction). traffic was light. we were travelling at about 45mph in the right hand lane about 500-feet from an intersection when i signaled to change lanes into the left lane as i would be making a left turn at the intersection. as we were midway into the lane change, our automatic collision avoidance warning flashed up on the instrument panel, beeped the alarm, and immediately (and unexpectedly) applied the brakes! the car behind us just missed plowing into the back of us because of the sudden braking for no reasons. the weather was good and just a bit cloudy, so weather had no bearing in this, and there was no traffic or obstacles near or in front of us to cause a false collision impression on the sensors. this has happened to us several times before and we did notify our honda dealer and they said that this happens sometimes, especially in heavy rains when the sensors "see" a heavy rain area as an object. on two prior occasions when this happened, again in clear weather and no objects around, we were ...

I was driving home when all of a sudden all of the warning lights on my dash turned on and my brakes did not work so i could stop the vehicle so i shifted into park to finally stop the car.

In motion 45mph on a city street heading straight and 'brake' flashed on the dashboard and then applied itself instantly and abruptly to a stop. there were no cars or obstacles in front for the brake to be applied. however, the ground was slightly wet from sprinklers that had sprayed the road which makes no sense if it braked for that because i have driven in rain storms already and nothing happened.there were cars behind me that had to slam on their brakes and swerve to avoid rear ending me.

My car was automatically braked and stopped last week without any reason . there was no car near me , i was driving about 40 mph ...this is the 3rd time it happens since i bought the vehicle in 2017--it breaks for about 5 seconds, then i was in control of the car...this is very dangerous and scary

Automatic braking system has activated two times since i had the car. first time when there was a metal plate in the street about a year ago. on june 22 in brooklyn it went off again for no reason stopping the car abruptly. fortunately no one was behind me. this is very disturbing and dangerous

With no cars around me and no obstructions while driving 60 mph on the freeway brakes slammed on for no reason. i then took it to the dealer they said nothings wrong. i have now taken it to cerittos honda numerous times but they say nothings wrong but it happened again today.

While driving slowly (approximately 25 mph) on a city street, the automatic braking system engaged when approaching a railroad crossing for no apparent reason. the braking force was strong enough to engage the restraint of the seat belts.

I've been to the dealership 5 times now for the same issues: road departure mitigation system failure, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem. i have also been driving the vehicle and with no one in front of me, the car will beep, flash brake, and then the brake system will activate. when this happens the seat belts lock up from the sudden braking. i was told there is an update, and they installed it, supposedly, and the problem should be fixed. i am still having all these problems, and i am now being told there is a software update that is coming out next month. let me reiterate that while driving on the highway the vehicle will randomly brake with no one in front of me. i also had my gear shifter button pop out and brake while shifting to drive the other day. i had to drive to honda, and get that replaced, and was told that it is a common problem.

I was driving my honda cr-v on a highway using the hov lane. at some point while driving normally the front driver side seemed to have collapse and the car started pulling strong in one direction towards the center divider line. with two hands on the wheel the pull was so strong that i would barely control the car and keep it from crashing into the divider. barely missing the divider i managed to stop the car on the shoulder luckily without anyone colliding into me. if i was driving in the middle lane this could have prompted a major accident. i didn't go over any pothole or obstruction on the road. no one hit me nor did i hit anyone. no airbags inflated nor warning indicators appear on the console. i called the police and once on the scene the police swept the highway to determine if there were any potholes or obstacles that could have caused the incident. they confirmed that non existed and that the road was deemed safe. there was no police report produced as the police deemed the incident to be a non accident and instead a breakdown since there was no collision or altercation. ...

The automatic breaking function is randomly applying the brakes, or warning to brake, at random times when there are no other vehicles or people around the car. the automatic braking system has applied itself 3 times, with very hard braking to the point that the seatbelts locked up, while merging or exiting the freeway, going anywhere from 25-45 mph'ish. one time i was almost rear ended and the vehicle behind had to swerve to avoid hitting me (because they were also tailgating), another time was while exiting a bridge, and the most recent was this morning while merging onto the freeway in front of a big rig and the brakes randomly slammed themselves on for absolutely no reason. while driving on surface streets it has automatically applied the brakes lightly at least twice, and given countless false braking warnings when driving around city streets. this is a major safety hazard!
