My car came to a complete stop once while i was driving in the middle of an intersection and once just on a straight road. this happened twice, and i went flying forward and all my stuff on the seat went flying. there was not a car in front of me. they said it must have been reading something to do this, and it's to protect a possible pedestrian. this is an accident waiting to happen . i called honda of joliet to put it in my record. another issue is the vehicle stability lights, the adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, and a brake lights all flash stating there is a problem. these lights just come on while driving. this has happened three times . once it was snowing. the second and third time the weather was clear. the first time i cleared some of the 'driving aides' and the lights went off. i took it to honda of joliet on 1/25 and they aligned the radar. the lights came back on 1/28 /19 and they said they realigned it again. they had the car for 2 days. the original reason was the sensors are dirty, and in bad weather this can happen. they said a clump of snow could have caused this too. so this car is only good in good weather? the service person said they have had a lot of cars in for this same reason. another problem was i came out to find my windows down, my sunroof open and my back door open. car was stationary. didn't take it in for this and forgot to tell them when i dropped it off on 1/28/19.
The heat in the car dose not work when it is cold out. auto start does nothing to warm the vehicle. the vehicle needs to be driving continuously to have the temperature gauge move. once the gauge is 1/2 way up and i turn on the heat, the gauge drops all the way down. no warm air comes out, also effecting the defroster. if i have ice or fog on my windows the defroster can't keep up severely impairing my vision, not to mention that all passengers in the car are freezing the entire time. this morning the temperature was 9 degrees fahrenheit with a real feel of -10 and during my 30 minute drive to work via a highway, all 4 door windows were fogged over and ice was forming on them and the rear and front windshield have fog and ice on about 50% of them. if not for the seat warmer and the blanket i wrapped myself in for my cummute i would have been frozen. this isn't the first time winter has happened nor the first car that honda has created. no reason for the heat not to work.
As i was driving back home from showcase honda after having shift level knob, ac hepa filter and cabin hepa filter replaced. i was driving on a city street, when my cabin got full of a very cloudy, followed with a bad smell that made me rolled down the windows and pulled immediately to the nearest street because i was so scare not been able to see anything.
The vehicle has a known issue by honda with unsafe levels of oil dilution in the 1.5 cvt turbo engine. gas is mixing in with the oil, causing oil levels to rise. the fumes of gasoline are entering into the cabin space and making it unsafe to breathe. the engine is also having stalling issues due to gas mixing in with the oil in the engine area. this also has an issue with the ability to keep the car warm and providing adequate heat into the cabin area. the components of this engine are unsafe for cold weather climates such as the northeast. the car can not warm up the engine sufficiently at idle and therefore will not blow any hot air into the cabin area. the manufacturer states the car needs to be operating at highway speeds for approximately 10 minutes to gain sufficient engine warmth. this is not acceptable, as many owners of this vehicle have families and children, and we make short trips back and forth. for the car to be cold and blow cold air and not be able to warm up is a failure by the manufacturer to provide a safe vehicle. honda case number 06673515
The button on the transmission selector came out. when i put it back in the transmission wouldn't shift into park. the vehicle was stopped at the time.
This vehicle was purchase 6/25/17. since day one i have had a problem with the display info screen. the latest problem is with dialing my contacts without me requesting. the multimedia also cycles through different settings and screens. twice warning labels come on. radar obstructed warning light comes on in clear sunny days. honda corp.said they are working on a software fix but date for it. local dealers no nothing about the fix.. to drive safely i have to stop the car and shut it off then restart. honda corp case number 09368872
Very strong continuous smell of gasoline inside the car coming from the front engine area of the car when starting it and the smell circulates in the car while driving it. also smell gas from the car for a long while, after parking it in my enclosed garage. this is a serious health, safety and evironmental issue. the smell makes me nauseous. just bought this 2017 honda crv three months ago, took this vehicle back to dealer, he said thehonda factory doesn't have any fixes for this issue. untrue per data found online which states this issue has been taken care of per a recall of these vehicles in canada and for some states but not yet in all usa states, including my state. i hope this vehicle is recalled and the issue fixed very soon for our health and safety.
When i got into car in shopping plaza parking lot i attempted to put my vehicle in reverse at which time and the gear shifter knob fell out and crumbled into pieces. not able to move vehicle nor put in park. after inspecting temporarily put piece in which enabled me to get home. while driving felt very unsafe not knowing if it would remain in gear. once home unable to put in park. luckily vehicle has button brake system which enabled me to put brakes on and get husband's help. he temporarily enabled vehicle into park after which vehicle although in park never fully turned off. due to christmas could not get to dealer til today. battery dead. charged, took to dealer replaced without comment. after googling, this appears to be an ongoing issue for a number of years. i believe this could cause dangerous situations. i personally was very distressed. this has not been a recall issue. i definitely believe it should.
The lockout button on the side of the transmission shift lever popped off, preventing the vehicle from shifting out of park. this can obviously cause the vehicle to be disabled. the service technician at the honda dealership said this is a common problem with 2017-2018 honda cr-vs, but i couldn't find a recall for it.
The gear shift button mechanism broke as i was parking when my car only had 5,312 miles on it. this is a dangerous safety hazard as the gear shift button mechanism broke without warning and can make it so one is unable to shift. the honda dealer at ocean honda in north hollywood, ca, replaced the gear shift button 12/17/18 but it is not shifting smoothly now when i put the car in reverse.
There is an issue with the dash display. the display, intermittently, when i start it, see image 1, does not show the descriptive information in the middle of the display. the car starts, the messages about brake is on, and mitigiation being on, show up, and then the center of display blacks out. sometimes, it stays on, and then when i release the brake, it disappears. see image 2, that is after i restarted it after it had been running for a while i have further tested this. if i start the car with the brake off, then the display seems to come up (i start car, with brake on, in garage, displsy does not come up, i release brake, then shut down the car. i then restart it, brake is still off, and then the gas milleage display comes on, then notification about road mitigation; then road mitigation disappears, and the mileage and fuel display remains on) my concern is whether this reflects other smoldering computer issues that could affect the safety of the car. i have reported this to honda in late 2018, but all they suggested was taking this to a repair shop to let them look at it. but i do not believe this is a my car issues, this is a broader computer issue. then, they issued a software update to address the gas-in-oil issue, and the display issue seemed to disappear for a while, but now it has recurred. this time it seemed to start after i had connected a phone to the android system through the smart cable, but after disconnecting the phone, the issue persists. *dt*jb

Along with my gas in the oil tank issue, the car does not heat up any longer. it was 37 degrees here in ny and my car is only outputting cold air. i've taken my vehicle to the dealership already and they could not fix either issue. i am extremely frustrated.

1) pushed ignition button and put gearshift into r to back out of garage 2) gearshift nob spontaneously popped out onto mat 3) couldn't shift into p, only n 4) car on incline driveway into street that was busy with morning traffic 5) required to keep foot on brake while looking for nob 6) after several minutes, found nob and was able to put back into place and shift gear into d and drove back into garage and then put gear into p 7) extremely dangerous! nob could have been irretrievable with no way to keep car from sliding into traffic other than with foot on brake; no other way to keep car from moving; no manual braking method available 8) subsequently on internet search, this is known problem 9) was able to drive to dealer and have mechanism replaced in 1 day
i have purchased 2017 model honda new crv ex-l with navigation in october 2017 in tennessee. from the last 1 year i am having a major problem which is effecting my health and my family health. from almost 10 months, i have this problem. problem: whenever i switch on the ac or fan or heat, i have a very bad engine smell/ oil smell. i am unable to breath in the car, i have burning sensation in my eyes. i vomited couple of time because of this smell. my wife and my 5 year old son also feels the same . its affecting their health as well. i have taken my car to odonell honda service center located at 21043 three times and they just keep fooling me saying that there is no problem in the car and they cant do anything about it. they were useless, unprofessional people who does not know what to do. they behaved very bad as well. and always gave lame excuses. then i took my car to honda service center at owing mills, md. they were nice enough to check my car and they found two issues with the car and fixed it and promised that i will not have any issues. but with in a week i am having the same issues. i am helpless now.i cant drive my car because i cant breathe in that smell. its affecting my health. i cant go again and again to dealer shop to get my car fixed. i am writing to you so that if you can help me before i take this matter to public and fight legally. if something happens to me or my family - who is responsible for that. hoping for a response from you. thanks in advance and appreciate your time looking into this.

Shifter button popped out while driving/vehicle in motion. dealer indicated a frequent issue but no honda recall.
The detent for the automatic shifter just popped off and i had no way to shift the vehicle into park or any other gear for that matter. i checked google and there are a large number of other people dealing with this same defect.

Infotainment screen will randomly flash, dim and beep. this has caused several safety issues including high level of distraction and failure of the navigation system at all the wrong times. this happens randomly when the vehicle is in motion or stopped. the problem has been reported to the dealer and they have failed to find a solution. they claim no one else has reported similar problems. this is laughable due to all of the online complaints and youtube videos documenting the same problem. they have refused to attempt a repair or replacement of affected defected components.

Cr-v rolled backwards twice, once when the engine was off (oct. 2018) and once when it was running (may 2019). both times the gear shift was in neutral. i believe the gear shift slipped into neutral, perhaps by my banging into it. i have driven for 27 years and never had this problem. i most recently drove a toyota rav4 with a similar layout in terms of location of the gear shift. drove it for 9 years without a problem.

A situation in which the dashboard lights show multiple system failures including failures of the rdm, cruise control, brakes and cmbs. this has happened twice, including a second time immediately after the dealer "fixed" the problem. the car has beed stopped but idling in both situation. i drove immediately to the dealership the first time and did not even leave the dealership the second time. an indication of a "brake system failure" is disconcerting even though there seems to be no affect on vehicle performance, other than these safety features being rendered inoperable.
Gasoline in engine. i have discussed this issue with dealer but no response. i also wrote this entity but i have not received any knowledgement of this issue. i do regular oil change and the oil always smells like gas just before i take it i. to have oil changes regularly (3500 or 5000 miles). plus i have yet in the 18 months i've owned the cr-v to get an oil chance notification. i want the issue with this/my cr-v be addressed and corrected! i would like to receive an reply that will help me with this issue!

I purchase a 2017 honda crv-ex with the 1.5 liter turbo engine. during the past 6 months i've been having the following problems with my vehicle ' the oil smell of gas, passenger compartment smell like gas, rising oil levels, stalling and loss of power. i understand that honda motor company , ltd has recalled 350,000 honda crv's in china because of the same problem. the company is calling back those cars to resolve a problem caused by an unusual amount of un-combusted petrol collecting in the engine's lubricant oil pan. honda dealerships in canada with oil dilution problems have already started repairs of their 2017 & 2018 honda cr-vs after it was contacted by canadian motor vehicle arbitration plan (camvap). i would like honda to buy back my vehicle unless i received the same repairs as the canadian honda owners, which are the following: 1.) performed n60 campaign (oil dilution) 2.) replaced climate control unit 3.) replaced drain plug washer 4.) replaced oil 5.) updated pgm-fi and tcm software. 6.) warranty extensions on all engine components for up to six years from original date of purchase, with no mileage limit. given that the problem is well documented, honda has a responsibility to address the issue in an open and transparent manner. honda had knowledge of the turbo engine defects that cause fuel to enter the engine and did absolutely nothing for an entire year. i seek a permanent fix to the problem, not just a flushing out of the vehicle's oil reservoir as the dealership has already performed to no effect. if honda cannot remedy the problem, i seek a full refund of my vehicle.
After i pulled into my garage, stopped the vehicle, and put it into park, i released the shifter interlock button and it popped out and landed on the floor. for the past few weeks i thought the button had more play in it when, but figured that i was imagining it because what could go wrong with a button on a vehicle with only 7500 miles on it. i brought the vehicle to the dealer this morning and they ordered replacement parts and scheduled an appointment for the repair. i'm kind of surprised that they didn't give me a loaner and tell me to stop driving it since not being to shift a vehicle into park (if the button were to fall out while driving) seems like a safety issue.
1. engine oil level after a recent oil change ( with very less mileage) shows the oil level is higher than the "highest" indicator point. it appears to be oil is getting diluted by unburnt fuel. this may potentially harm the engine!!.
I have smelled gasoline three times recently when driving. i called the honda headquarters. they told me this problem is something they are working on. there is no fix for it at this time. they claim gas leaks into the oil filter which can affect the engine. i am concerned about my safety snd a possible engine problem. i have received no satisfaction. in addition i have had two other major problems in the short time i am driving my car. my battery needed to be replaced 7 months after i drove out of the dealership i was parked in a parking lot when my battery died. recently the gear shift knob broke off when it was in drive and i was not able to shift gears. i was dropping off a passenger. it was replaced.

The transmission shifter button fell off when the vehicle was in drive and my spouse could not release the brake in order to collect the button and place the vehicle in park she had to pull off the road, turn off the engine and then find the button on the floor in order to resolve the issue. honda seems to have a taken a very casual response to this issue which should be treated as a serious concern. from all of the research and press i reviewed regarding this problem, the answer is to use a pair of pliers to change gears or glue the plastic piece in place. i believe this recall should be mandated versus take it to the dealer so he can glue it back in. this vehicle was a considerable amount of money spent not to have a transmission work as intended.
2 separate concerns! in the past year there have been several occasions that i smelled gasoline inside the vehicle. when first entering after the car had been parked. this occurred during the past 6 to 8 months. strong odor. there is gasoline mixing with the engine oil. when you check the oil level it is always way overfilled. it is overfilled due to the gasoline mixing with the engine oil. lubricating oil is being mixed with solvent - gas. there is the very strong odor of gas as soon as you pull the oil dipstick. the honda dealership did not make any repair, this is noted on my work order.

While driving on highway or streets i have several problem lights. adaptive cruise control problem, collision migration problem, road departure migration system problem, and some drive assist systems cannot operate:radar obstructed. my car has been in for repair 10-12 times for these issues. dealership has put on a new camera and wiring harness and the lights have come on after. i have been told if it is cloudy,rainy, sunny, lines on the roads aren't dark enough, shadow from another vehicle or bumps may cause this. so if it isn't perfect world, this will happen. the final solution last week was to turn off 2 functions, the lane keep assist and the collision migration. i now have a base line model car because i can't use all the functions i bought the car for. this is very dangerous as i drive i75 each day and 'when' this happens,it kicks off the cruise control. dealership said a new model would not solve this as the 2017,2018,and 2019 have the same electronics along with several different models of cars. need a permanent fix as i am at the point of retaining a lawyer. multiple dates of this happening
On early oct 2017, automatic braking system applied (slammed) for no apparent reasons at 45 mph. no cars were in front and luckily none was behind. happened on mid day, clear and sunny day. there were several occasions that brake warning activated while no pending traffic. went to dealer to checkup and was told "never heard of such issues with this brake issues". it totally did not make sense that the adviser recommended turning off brake sensing feature!? on a separate issue, front adaptive shutter malfunction while was on the highway causing loss of power. system reset itself after pulling off the road shutoff and restart the engine. dealer said they were not able to replicate this issue and found no faulty problems.
Gear shift release button broke into several pieces. unable to remove the key when vehicle is in park. cannot leave it in a public lot with key in the ignition. it will still shift, but afraid it won't at any moment since several others on line have had this problem, and include pictures and videos that match mine. i have been transferred several times and left message at dealer. no return call yet.
Gear shift lever on center console has a silver button that must be depressed in order to move gearshift. button disintegrated from the inside and fell oy, leaving gear shift lever inoperable. clear a safety hazard not to be able to change from drive to reverse to park, etc. dealership repaired under warranty, and stated this is a problem they see on a daily basis with this model.

The shifter button on the left that you have to press to change gears broke and popped out. cannot engage the shifter to change from different gears unless you manually press the mechanism inside down. huge problem. happened when we came home and went to put the car in park. button broke and popped out while still in drive.

Time of incident: monday, august 14th; 7:30 a.m. when depressing the shift knob to shift to reverse, the button as shown in the picture attached disintegrated into 3 pieces. once this occurred, i was unable to shift gears so had to activate the emergency brakes while i tried to figure out how to shift without the shift knob. fortunately, i was able to shift and park the vehicle by inserting my index finger into the shaft portion while depressing the button inside the broken portion. i immediately called my dealer and addressed the issue with paragon honda and was told to bring the vehicle to the repair shop or have it towed. i bought the vehicle to the repair shop after work in the evening, and the repair shop did not give me an estimate time of repair when request neither did they provide me with a loaner vehicle as stipulated in the contract signed with the dealer when it was purchased in february 2018. this issue needs immediate attention since it could potentially cause accidents in unexpected conditions.
The tires sold on the honda crv in 2017 are substandard. at 17,000 they are worn to the point of needing replacement. as someone that is more accustomed to tires lasting 45,000 to 80,000, this quick wear out caught me by surprise. at 17,000, i should have confidence in the tires to drive in the rain -- no so. these are very dangerous.
