When car turned on, rpm needle zoomed up to 4 and would not go down. towed car and fixed transmission for $2000. just a little over a year later, delay in shifting. electronics of transmission were fixed. one month later, rpm needle jerking and hopping, car not responding well to gas input. thank goodness all these incidents were on local roads and lots by my home. imagine on the freeway or busy roads with my 6 year old in the back. time for a recall! *kb
Excessive oil consumption; car makes clattering engine noise (oil starvation) at around 4200 miles between oil changes; been on oil consumption test at dealer and told i am still within specs of burning 1 quart oil per 1000 miles being normal; have never owned a vehicle that loses oil between changes; dealer recommended i pull over on side of road when i hear clattering noise to top off oil; been getting oil changes every two months because of clattering noise being heard in engine; was given a software update to fix this in late august but it has only gotten worse-- went from burning 1/4 quart per 1000 to 1/3 quart per 1000. *kb
Car delays shifting into second gear then shifts hard causing engine light to come on and the gear indicator to flash resulting in loss of movement. i have to shut the car off then re start to keep moving. *kb
We purchased a new 2008 honda accord exl in 2008. it has only 40,000 miles on it and my husband was driving and went to pass and the engine missed and and began to shudder and misfire and almost had a head on because he could not accelerate and had to find a way to get back into line. we took it in and the only thing to fix it was replace the spark plug which we did and car was fine for a few weeks but now it is doing it again. i feel it's a safety issue if in the middle of driving you cannot accelerate the vehicle. *kb
While driving at freeway speed (65) the engine would just lose power with no warning!! its been to the dealer three times now for this same issue. now no one in the family wants to drive the car. its just too nerve racking to guess when the car will lose power, or trust it for a long trip. the last time this happen we were almost hit by a truck as we were trying to get to the side of the road. *kb

Wife was driving at highway speed when car began to violently shake as if engine was misfiring. check engine light came on, then severely reduced power. she was barely able to exit and make it across the access road and into a turn lane with the accelerator to the floor. car still shook violently as she placed it in park. dealership cannot explain shaking. car only has 4,700 miles and was purchased new from servicing dealer. they said oil was 1.5-2 quarts low so they topped it off. tripped a code for a stuck solenoid in the camshaft timing system so they reprogrammed the pcm and gave the car back to us. this was an extremely dangerous situation as my wife did not have enough power to move the vehicle out of traffic. had there been more traffic in her way or someone following closely, she would have been in an accident. dealer was still puzzled as to the power loss and shaking and just shrugged their shoulders. they said to watch the oil level and if this happens again to bring it back. we hope this does not ...
