I believe it is a starter issue. when i go to start the vehicle it will often stall and not the start the first couple times and i can hear it try to start but fail. the car only has 39k miles on it and i was doing my research and a lot of other people have this same issue with their 2014 accord. i think this should be considered a recall and fixed by honda or refunded for repair by honda.
During colder weather and upon cold start engine rattles until car engine is warm.
Oil is excessively burning. alternator isn't charging car battery.
Defective starter; i'm having issues with the starter. at times my 2014 honda accord v6 will not start. after the third time, it will start successfully.
This problem with 2014 h accord exists since nov. 2018 (mileage then approx.. 49,000 mi). the starter clicks (battery is full) and nothing is happening. after several attempts the engine typically started. in june 2019 i checked at honda dealership whether the battery switch recall is the offender. it was not. they could not replicate the issue ' despite my detailed description how the non-start event happens. in 2019 this issue started showing up with higher frequency ' just yesterday i got stranded on the road in parking lot. had to leave car there overnight (attempted to start maybe 20 times with different p-n configurations ' battery about 13.6 v) ' no success ' the car and starter were dead (1 click only). came back next morning with towing service. the car started. this issue with malfunctioning starter is on- and -off. hundreds of people have exactly the same problem with the starter with this h. accord lx 2014 model. the h. dealer pretended that they are not familiar with the issue (plenty of complains on the internet which i showed them). i am waiting for oem starter part to be replaced. car has 61,000 miles now. it is way premature for the starter to develop these types of problems ' which for me last exactly for one year (nov. 2018) and creates a real road hazard, especially in winter time. recall from honda is necessary. it is systemic issue here.
Vehicle has steering issues even after alignment. vehicle has issues starting engine
Parked in store parking lot, veh turned off for aprox 30 min. vehicle needed multiple tries to start. repl battery, was better for a week. needed 8-10 tries to start yesterday. would just click when turning the key. taking in to have starter replaced. vehicle only had 60k miles, should not be needing a starter this soon. started having issues in the past month.
My 2014 honda accord starts by a key fob and push button starter. recently, the car would take 5-6 attempts to start.. now it will not start at all. it just will not crank over. i have about 65,000 miles but as i research "starter problems of the 2014 honda accord", i get over 70 of the same complaints from one website. some of the other same complaints with mileage from 15,000 to more than 70,000. i called american honda, 1-800-999-1009, and my case number is: [xxx]. i spoke to [xxx] on 10/31/19. she said they are aware of this "issue" but cannot do anything i asked how many complaints must they have before they do an official recall. she cannot answer. i asked if they will do anything for me in light of so many complaints? she says no, it is over the warranty. i could not obtain any information as to the cause of the problem not the fix from american honda. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Push button start will not work. dash lights up, but doesn't start motor. push in on brake and pressings the start button many times and it will start. where are many complaints on the internet. please help us. you can pull up videos on youtube . there was a recall on the 2013 model
Experiencing intermittent starting issues. car usually takes multiple attempts to start. usually on around the third or fourth attempt it starts, but has taken up to 10-12 attempts or more to start. keyed ignition, not push button. when it fails to start, engine doesn't crank at all, there is just one single 'click' sound. took it to the honda dealer, they said it's most likely a bad starter and quoted around $700 to replace the starter. the car only has 35k miles, which seems very low miles to have starter issues. after looking at all the other complaints about this issue, i believe there should be a recall to address this, as this is clearly a systemic problem. my teenage daughter and wife both drive this car, and i'm very concerned about this issue causing them to be stranded somewhere. that's definitely a huge safety issue. it also doesn't seem fair for me to have to pay $700 to repair an issue that is clearly due to a faulty part, just to a have a car that starts when it's supposed to. all those people who have paid to have the starter issues fixed should be reimbursed by honda too.
About a week ago i called aaa for service for my 2014 accord. it would not start. the technician checked the battery and found it to be fine. he then tried to start the car and it started right up. we drove home and had no problems for several days until last saturday when my wife returned to the car with groceries and uncounted the same problem. my wife is 87 and with the high heat and perishables it was not a pleasant experience. again, after calling my son for aid, the car finally started and we planned a monday visit to your enterprise. since my wife had a doctors appointment at noon, we prayed that the car would start for the trip to the doctor's and then for the drive to the dealership.it started for the first trip and then after about 10 minutes for the second trip to. a car that may or may not start can place people in danger and should be viewed as a safety issue.
Car will fail to start. this is a safety hazard. if the car stalls and won't restart depending on location, eg highway, it could be a major safety hazard. my 2014 honda accord has intermittent starter problems. sometimes it starts fine, other times the lights all go on but nothing else happens. when it won't start turning the car off and trying again usually works. i can also get it to start by leaving the key turned to the start position and pumping the clutch. this indicates the ignition switch is ok and the clutch start sensor switch is ok. i have called the dealer and they say they have replaced a bunch of starters but there is no recall. they want $800 to replace the starter. a web search indicates the starter is a common problem for 2014 accords. when is the recall? i need to get this fixed. how do i get re-reimbursed if i have this fixed before the recall?
My 2014 honda accord plug in has stalled twice while driving (once on the freeway and once in the middle of a santa monica boulevard). no warning lights or noises to give me the fyi that it's stalling, it just suddenly starts to slow and if i press on the gas pedal it compresses to the floor with ease...it also shows me in ev mode when the car has no ev charge remaining. it's like it's in limp mode. turning the car off and turning it back on again fixes the issue, but when i've taken it to the dealer (twice) they have pulled the computer and have found no records on the car. they say it's "as if the car has never been driven before".
When i had oil changed there was no oil showing on dip stick. car only has 65000 miles
Starter is failing from time to time. when using push-button start, sometimes the starter makes a strong grinding noise and does not start the vehicle. it will sometimes do this for one, two, or three attempts in a row. eventually, the starter will work. i'm afraid the starter will eventually fail completely. car has less than 75,000 miles.
2014 honda accord lx 2.4 car has been burning excess oil of about 1 quart per 500 miles. low pressure oil light has come on 3 separate occasions with car stalling. this happened after relatively short intervals between oil changes and adds. tailpipe has excessive carbon buildup. replaced pcv valve and issue continues. car only has 100k miles on it. dealers are of no help and describe the problem has normal. honda has a recall on older model (2008-2011) models so it appears they have not fixed their engine problems. there are 1000s of complaints on the web about this issue. it's time that honda recalls these vehicles. i'm sure there are a lot of unsuspecting drivers out there who are unaware of this that could have a catastrophic engine failure . i was totally unaware. of the problem until low pressure light flickered . when i checked oil it was bone dry. please read the number of complaints . this is not normal for cars in this age range .
Please note that there was a recall for the 2013 honda accord for similar issues. the vehicle will at times not start and only make a grinding noise when depressing the start button, this still occurring after changing the battery and starter twice in addition to the fob battery. i speculate that the braking system may contribute to this issue as sometimes the car will start after pumping/pressing the brake pedal a few times or just holding it after initial attempt to start the car (very frustrating). new issue involves the car starting while only pressing the brake and moving the gear shifter (dangerous as a kid can start the vehicle without pressing the start button). have reported the issue to honda (local/california main) and spoke to a honda representative yesterday (5/7/2019) to no avail. please issues a recall for these cars having this issue before someone gets hurt, or worse, looses their lives. this has been going on for years and is almost on a daily basis, last even was today.
My vehicle was parked with the engine shut off and out of nowhere when i went to start it it wouldn't start i tried maybe jumping it but it wasn't working so i had to get it towed. and turns out it was the little connector to the battery terminal so i purchased the part at the dealer and had the mechanic install it the first time. now it is happening again and i didn't realize the first time i did it the part was a recall so paid out of my own pocket myself . and now for it to happen again is a bummer so i should of filed a compliment the first time around but didn't know about it i figured it might of been something i did but now i know now . and it's the second time this happened and i don't know what else to do i fix the problem and it just comes back
Hello' whenever i cold start my honda accord, there's a short grinding noise at the start, in which disappears immediately after a second or two of the grinding. this has happened every single cold start since i bought the car 3 months ago. after doing some research, it appears there was a similar issue for earlier years of this car.
This just out of warranty vehicle has had some odd problems, some that made the car unsafe to drive, 1) ac compressor clutch melted onto compressor. fixed under warranty. 2) timing belt tensioner leaked fluid, fixed under warranty. 3) dealer diagnosed abs module fault. an intermittent failure. car was out of warranty. this problem caused every other electronic safety system in the car to intermittently fail. opened a case with american honda who denied any responsibility for the problem. these units fail rarely and should last the life of the vehicle. the part (36,000 mile 3-yr warranty) was even back ordered from the manufacturer. for example, only 1 unit was replaced in atlanta, ga since 2014, they wanted almost $1,600 to fix the issue. took it to another specialist who fixed it for under $600 by finding a used part. i think honda should have been more accommodating and concerned. this problem caused the abs, ldw, fcw, and traction control systems to eventually fail. literally, i was lucky that i didn't get in a bad accident as the abs was actually functioning (the day a car turned left in front of me) and saved me from skidding into and t-boning another car. but all these odd issues just leaves me wondering... when's the next weird problem going to pop up?
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that it took numerous attempts to start the vehicle and the starter warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the starter was repaired. the failure recurred and the mechanic replaced the battery. the failure recurred a third time. the vehicle was not repaired again. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 54,000.
I have a 2014 honda accord ex and it's burning 2 to 3 quarts of oil every 2 weeks. it's aggravating it's burning so much oil and there are thousands of reviews about this matter with the accord model and honda is not doing anything about it. i took the car to the dealership for this matter and i have extended warranty and they were said that they will charge me $129.99 to look at the car when i have the extended warranty. i feel so disappointed in honda because they are leaving their loyal customers in the air when they know what is going on and don't do anything to help... i drive a little in the city but mainly on highway. how many people have to complain in order for honda to do something about this serious problem... help help help help help help help help help help
I have been experiencing trouble starting my car recently. i push the start button have my food on the break and it takes a few times sometimes over 4 times to actually start the car. lights and everything come on when i push to start but the engine is not turning over. dealership tested battery, alternator, starter, and wiring and everything looked to be working correctly. my car was checked twice for the battery sensor recall issue affecting my make and model and it checked out fine both times.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. when the contact pressed the push/start button to start the vehicle, the engine would not immediately start. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 60,000.
Excessive oil consumption
Hi sandy how are you doing? the strangest thing happened to me yesterday. i was driving my 2014 honda accord came to a red light. when i put my foot on the brake the engine accelerated and it was hard to stop the car, so i put the transmission in neutral and the engine raced, i then turned the car off. i restarted the car and it was fine. the dealer tested it over night for 160 miles and could not duplicate. car was out of warranty, so was charged for service. they did a software update on pcm (main computer) and eps system (steering wheel)
Since the expiration of the vehicle's warranty, the following issues have occurred. both door locking actuators have failed and require replacement. this failure requires the driver to manually lock and unlock the vehicle. the air conditioning blower motor has failed several times and will eventually need to be replaced, causing no air to flow through the vents in some of the hottest and coldest days of the year. most noticeably the starter and starter solenoid has failed on several occasions, preventing the engine from starting, and will also need to be replaced.
Grinding noise while attempting to start. vehicle was stationary. grinding noise can occur once or up to 10 times before engine will finally start. engine had less than 100,000 miles when initially occurred. continued to get worse over time and mileage.
Rpm surged to 7000 to 8000 rpm
I was notified by consumer reports of recall jp2 for my car showing the need for connecting rod bolts on my 2014 honda accord. honda does not recognize this as a valid recall
When i go to start the car, pushing the break and pressing the start button, i hear clicking and the engine will not start. i have to try multiple times before the care will finally start.
Vtc actuator failed at 30,000 miles. this is a long term issue (2013,2014,2015,2016,2017 for all honda models w the 4cyl engine. part cost $203.88.oem part is the only option for replacement with a replacement time of 5 hours. the dealership stated there was no tsb's or recalls, related to this part. they did not offer to discount any aspect of the bill. i do not believe that the failure of this part at 30k is reasonable and customary and would caution returning a honda back to the dealer for diagnosis and repair. utilize a qualified and reputable ase certified repair facility.
The vehicle made a loud grinding noise and failed to start at 50k miles on the odometer. dealer stated that the starter needed to be replaced at a cost of over $900. dealer refused to provide assistance with expense despite low mileage and clearly premature problem with this vehicle.
Last yes when the battery was 3 years old and it completely died on me, had to buy a new one. i didn't might since it was $150. a few month (august 2018) ago my car would not start from the first time i push the start bottom and i would have to push it again for it to start. this happened about once to twice a week. but over the last month (november 2018) this issue really increased. started to happen more often and the car would start after the 5th or 6th attempt. called the dealer they quoted me over $500 to fix the issue at a discounted rate. but my starter should not be going out this early when the car is only 3 to 4 years old. this issue must be happening a lot because the dealer didn't even ask to do a diagnostic. after i explain my problem they said quoted me for the starter. i have videos of this issue but i cannot upload it. i will place it on youtube (https://youtu.be/pysds6cndnq). will upload more videos.
I recently came upon an article about 2014 honda's that would over heat and you would lose power causing the vehicle to stall. this happened to my vehicle about a week ago i was driving on the highway at low speed in traffic and my vehicle began to stall before it stalled out i pressed the gas and it returned to normal rpm. it happened again one more time about two minutes later and hasn't happened since.
When stationary the vehicle would not start on an intermittent basis for several months and eventually would not start at all. diagnostics determined the starter was bad and the vehicle has approximately 50,000 miles.
Can is 4 years old and has 118k miles on it. had to have the transmission replaced, there were no lights or errors on the computer when it was hooked up but told i needed a new transmission. car stopped getting in gear. had a salvaged one put in and in less than 2 months it was doing the same thing again. on 2 occasions over the last week, i've had to hit the brakes hard and it took about 5 second for the car to start going again when i accelerated. it reved during that time but the gear did not catch. it is also shifting very rough from through the gears and when braking under normal circumstances, it shifts rough. i have contacted honda corporate and they've basically told me oh well.
I was slowly making a left turn into and pulling into a front end in parking space with my foot on the brake, the car as already going straight into the parking space when the car suddenly accelerated, could not be slowed down or stopped by the brake, jumped the curb, and crashed into the building. air bag did not deploy.
Vehicle would not start. only a clicking sound would be heard under the hood. all ignition lights would light properly and headlights stayed on and were bright. this indicated battery was good. also battery was just replaced. but the car engine would not turn over. it would take 2 to 3 tries to get car to start. it got progressively worse as time went on. it turns out i had to replace the starter. it went bad after only 42,500 miles. i seen other complaints about starter issue. it appears honda may have defect in starter. the warranty expired about 8 months ago, and the dealer wanted to charge me $650 to replace starter. i bought a starter and installed myself saving money.
Starter went bad and was intermittent. the solenoid would not work at times. also engine would turn over slowly like it had a bad battery.
Car would not start but would just click and electricity would turn on. problem persisted and got worse and worse. would require 2, then 3 up to 6 tries to start the engine. replaced battery and problem still persisted and got worse. went to mechanic and was told starter was faulty, had to pay for a full starter replacement at less than 45,000 miles.
Piston rings need to be checked. went for oil change and there was no oil in car tech said there was not a leak and it must be burning oil car was at 30%
Starter grinds or spins at startup. the problem is intermittent at first but gets worse over time untill the car won't start at all leaving you stranded. honda released a service bulletin 16-002 that covers the problem and the fix for it.
I've had this for for 2 years now and all of a sudden there are times my car won't start on the 1st key turn. all the lights come on and the battery is still running good. i've had the battery tested 3 times. the vehicle is stationary. i put my key in turn it lights come on it clicks i turn it back turn and the same thing happens. usually on the the third try it the engine comes on powerful. this happens at least 3 times a week. i read on other forums and a lot of ownwers of the same car are having the exact same issue. they took theirs to the dealer and they had to get their starter replaced. we are wondering how a car this new can already have starter issues? this should not happen when cars are under 100k in miles. honda needs to have a recall on their poorly made starter. the owners should not have to replace the starter already.
I informed honda about my car's oil system problem, and how the engine is burning oil at a faster rate than normal. i told them that i had my car checked several times at honda in burlingame for this problem. there was no leaks, yet they couldn't determine the cause. they just told me to keep an eye on the oil gauge on the dashboard. at the 50% level it made a beeping noise and i had the oil checked. it was almost completely empty! therefore the oil gauge was useless. i wrote to honda and told them the problems. they just told me to get it checked again and was unwilling to do anything about this potential hazard. now i am concerned about driving this defective vehicle, and very alarmed that honda is not concerned about this potential danger or their customer's safety.
My transmission went out at 100k miles uncertain why but its obviously a recall on a bad car im still making payments and the car doesnt work the car has engine issues and no cold a/c and many other issues i think this car needs to be overlooked at its only been since 2014 til 2018 and the car should have not had any issues im so sad that honda let me down i owned several hondas im the past and i trusted there vehicle but im not happy with this 2014 honda accord sport i hope this issues gets doubt with and honda understands i owned honda accords before many of them and this one has been a lemon from what i see not a good year for honda 2014 or my car was a lemon
Car will not start when the key is turned but after repeated attempts and turning the switch on and off and turning the wheel and pushing on the brake it sometimes just starts. the car has 55000 miles. has been happening 3 months getting worse.
The vehicle does not always start when you pressed the start button and only clicks. this can be dangerous if the car stalls in a busy intersection or rail road crossing and the vehicle cannot be started. to start the vehicle (keyless w/fob), you have to press the brake and press the start button. it appears that the brake pedal pressure and the starting of the car may be part of the issue as we have noticed that the car will more likely start when the brake pedal is soft vs. hard. not sure if the issue is isolated to the start button, brake master cylinder, both or the electronics that interacts when these two. any assistance that you may provide with this issue is appreciated. thank you
Starter went bad and was intermittent. the solenoid would not work at times. also engine would turn over slowly like it had a bad battery. replaced battery 2x!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while the contact was attempting to start the vehicle, it made a grinding sound and failed to start. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 54,000. the vin was not available.
