We have classified the 211 complaints from 2014 Honda Accord about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
I have had 1 oem honda starter replaced and 2 aftermarket ones. the car intermittently starts. sometimes immediately and sometimes leaves me stranded. i took the car in a few times to the honda dealership in the past and since i couldn't replicate it they couldn't do anything and was charged the diagnostic fee $180. this car is so unreliable that i can't even have my kids drive it fearing them being stranded. i had the car towed at least 6 times. to have the car start fine the next day or even hours later. there are so many complaints with others owning the same generation honda accord on all the forums online. it is not safe at all. i have been dealing with this around 40k and now my car is 160k, since no one seems to be able to fix it.
Bought a 2014 accord coupe new. it is now 12/16/19 and this is the fifth battery in the car. 4 replaced by honda and 1 replaced by mechanic. if car sits in the driveway for 2 - 3 days it will not start. honda says they cannot find any electrical issues with the car which is hard to believe. like the ride on the car but very disappointed in the reliability.
My 2014 honda accord was having trouble starting, pressing the push button start would only result in a click. after being stranded by the vehicle not starting i had to have the vehicle towed. i removed the starter for testing. when the starter was bench tested it worked fine. i put it back on the car, it started once and would not start again. i replaced the starter myself. it was $310 for the part. there have been no issues starting the car in the week following the replacement. after reading the nhtsa posts and online this is a systemic issue with the accord that is underreported.
My 2014 honda accord started having problems starting around oct.1st 2019. i have 91,000 miles and have replaced the battery twice since purchasing the vehicle at 28,000 miles in january 2016. the issue is most times it will take anywhere from 5 - 16 turns of the key before the car starts, its taken up to 40+ times a few times! i see there are 100's of complaints in regards to this problem. its a safety issue because i was at a gas station and was physically threatened by a guy with a knife because i finished pumping my gas and could not start my car! i had to push my car on the street so the crazed guy could move his car from behind mine. this issue has to be addressed because it causes many safety issues.
My accord had starting issues for sometime, few weeks ago it completely dead. called aaa battery service, they checked and replaced the battery. again i faced same issue, with in a week my vehicle completed dead, which didn't start. towed the vehicle to near by honda dealer, they inspected and told that issue was bad starter. and they charged fancy price for that, $431 for spare and $375 for labor just replacing the starter. so many customers facing the issue, within 45,000 miles, honda doesn't care. when i raised this issue to honda they told me that starter is wear part and i need to replace every 40,000 miles. attached honda sevice invoice for reference.
I have had the message "check charge system" on my car since i bought it from moses honda. i got a recall notice on it and took it in and the service guy said the recall would fix it. when i pulled out of the lot at moses honda after having the recall supposedly fixed my car still said "check charge system". took it to a honda dealer in georgia and said needs a new starter. still says "check charge system". honda will not fix it's cars.
This problem with 2014 h accord exists since nov. 2018 (mileage then approx.. 49,000 mi). the starter clicks (battery is full) and nothing is happening. after several attempts the engine typically started. in june 2019 i checked at honda dealership whether the battery switch recall is the offender. it was not. they could not replicate the issue ' despite my detailed description how the non-start event happens. in 2019 this issue started showing up with higher frequency ' just yesterday i got stranded on the road in parking lot. had to leave car there overnight (attempted to start maybe 20 times with different p-n configurations ' battery about 13.6 v) ' no success ' the car and starter were dead (1 click only). came back next morning with towing service. the car started. this issue with malfunctioning starter is on- and -off. hundreds of people have exactly the same problem with the starter with this h. accord lx 2014 model. the h. dealer pretended that they are not familiar with the issue (plenty of complains on the internet which i showed them). i am waiting for oem starter part to be replaced. car has 61,000 miles now. it is way premature for the starter to develop these types of problems ' which for me last exactly for one year (nov. 2018) and creates a real road hazard, especially in winter time. recall from honda is necessary. it is systemic issue here.
2014 honda accord -multiple warning lights stay on and steering wheel locks upon startup. an hour later, the symptoms are gone. honda has issued technical service bulletin 16-011 stating that the cause is corrosion between the engine wire harness and the ckp sensor connector. honda's corrective action is to have the customer pay to replace the engine wire harness and the ckp sensor. this is a safety issue, and should be part of a recall.
When trying to start, makes a clicking noise and won't start. have to turn it off, wait, then try again. sometimes i even get out the car and lock it to reset everything. sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't. sometimes i have to jump start it.
2014 honda accord lx with 28000 miles. started having starting issues approximately 2 months ago. takes anywhere from 2 to 8 tries to start at times then other times ,no issue at all. no issues while driving, only when parked. changed the battery without improvement. called honda customer care since this is an identified issue by the number of posts on the internet. the care rep "anna" informed me that since the car was not under warranty, basically nothing could be done, and that there was no recall. she informed me that it appears to be a starter issue. i told her it wasn't. it is faulty design part issue by honda. i asked her why the 2013 cars were recalled but not the 2014. her response was that the 2014 cars are not recalled.
Parked in store parking lot, veh turned off for aprox 30 min. vehicle needed multiple tries to start. repl battery, was better for a week. needed 8-10 tries to start yesterday. would just click when turning the key. taking in to have starter replaced. vehicle only had 60k miles, should not be needing a starter this soon. started having issues in the past month.
My 2014 honda accord starts by a key fob and push button starter. recently, the car would take 5-6 attempts to start.. now it will not start at all. it just will not crank over. i have about 65,000 miles but as i research "starter problems of the 2014 honda accord", i get over 70 of the same complaints from one website. some of the other same complaints with mileage from 15,000 to more than 70,000. i called american honda, 1-800-999-1009, and my case number is: [xxx]. i spoke to [xxx] on 10/31/19. she said they are aware of this "issue" but cannot do anything i asked how many complaints must they have before they do an official recall. she cannot answer. i asked if they will do anything for me in light of so many complaints? she says no, it is over the warranty. i could not obtain any information as to the cause of the problem not the fix from american honda. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Engine takes long to start. starter doesn't turn over. starter takes up to multiple attempts before engine turns on. once you turn the car off the process start over again. it takes me anywhere from 15 to 20 mins to start the car.
Car keeps going dead after i have a new starter and a new battery. shuts off anywhere and can be very dangerous
Experiencing intermittent starting issues. car usually takes multiple attempts to start. usually on around the third or fourth attempt it starts, but has taken up to 10-12 attempts or more to start. keyed ignition, not push button. when it fails to start, engine doesn't crank at all, there is just one single 'click' sound. took it to the honda dealer, they said it's most likely a bad starter and quoted around $700 to replace the starter. the car only has 35k miles, which seems very low miles to have starter issues. after looking at all the other complaints about this issue, i believe there should be a recall to address this, as this is clearly a systemic problem. my teenage daughter and wife both drive this car, and i'm very concerned about this issue causing them to be stranded somewhere. that's definitely a huge safety issue. it also doesn't seem fair for me to have to pay $700 to repair an issue that is clearly due to a faulty part, just to a have a car that starts when it's supposed to. all those people who have paid to have the starter issues fixed should be reimbursed by honda too.
There was a battery electrical sensor recalled in which i have already replaced but now the mechanic is saying there is an electrical issue with the starter sensor delays. my car has 75k and takes 6 or so times to start when pushing the start button. there appears to be a large community of 2013-2014 honda accord owners experiencing the same thing and needing to be replaced every 20k thereafter. please issue a recall. with having a baby in the car, i cannot afford to become stranded in the heat, not to mention the high expense this costs with no guarantee it will not need to be fixed again after 20k miles. long time honda owner who does not want to switch brands but needs safety and integrity to be top priority from a car manufacturer.
Vehicle has intermittent staring issues. battery, starter and alternator all test good and no codes appear in vehicles computer. vehicle will start and then the next time won't. issue first appeared within a year of ownership, and battery was replaced then and still an issue. the vehicle will sometimes sit over night or while out running errands.
Problem starting engine. some times it would start without a problem. other times it would simply click and not start. after trying to start multiple times, it usually would finally start. replaced the starter. no difference. tested the original starter and it tested good. put the original starter back in the vehicle. was told by the parts store that there had been multiple problems just like this.
About a week ago i called aaa for service for my 2014 accord. it would not start. the technician checked the battery and found it to be fine. he then tried to start the car and it started right up. we drove home and had no problems for several days until last saturday when my wife returned to the car with groceries and uncounted the same problem. my wife is 87 and with the high heat and perishables it was not a pleasant experience. again, after calling my son for aid, the car finally started and we planned a monday visit to your enterprise. since my wife had a doctors appointment at noon, we prayed that the car would start for the trip to the doctor's and then for the drive to the dealership.it started for the first trip and then after about 10 minutes for the second trip to. a car that may or may not start can place people in danger and should be viewed as a safety issue.
Push button start not working. starter is dying. takes three to four push button starts to start car. less than 50,000 miles on the car.
I purchase this vehicle from a 3rd party. before buying it, the buyer replaced the starter the same day i purchase the car based on his mechanic recommendation. he explain to me that he had problems starting the car when its in park, sometime it worked the first time, but sometime it had to push the bottom up to 5 times and push the brake really hard. about 3 weeks later, the same thing happen to me, the car will not start, it makes a grinding sound, then start doing it more often so i took it to my mechanic and he recommended call the buyer and ask his mechanic to replace it again and see if it will fix the problem. after the second replacement 2 weeks later it did it again, and it been doing it for the last 2 months since i purchase the car. it seems like this is not the "starter" it has to be another electrical problem, and based on the complaints, it seems like is the same problem, but no solution. please recall this problem before the car don't start at all.
While driving at slow speeds, 20 mph or less, car dies and then restarts on it's own. twice while turning and once after the car was in park.
Starter failure. sometimes the car would start on initial try. other times the car would not start on the initial try. it would just click. i never knew when it would happen.
A few weeks ago, our 2014 honda accord lx, would not consistently start. i took it to two different auto-shops, including the dealership. the first auto shop could not figure out what was wrong. they said they started the car ~100 times and the car started every time. i then took the car to a dealership. the dealership said it was the starter. i replaced the starter and the car started up fine. a couple of days after fixing the car, the car did not start. the battery was tested and is okay. our car was towed to a trusted mechanic. the mechanic said that the starter was fine and that he suspects the original did not need replacement. he said there's some sort of electrical issue, but could not figure out exactly where the issue is. he said it must be somewhere between the ignition and starter. our leaving the car with him so that he can have other technicians inspect it.
Starter is failing from time to time. when using push-button start, sometimes the starter makes a strong grinding noise and does not start the vehicle. it will sometimes do this for one, two, or three attempts in a row. eventually, the starter will work. i'm afraid the starter will eventually fail completely. car has less than 75,000 miles.
Vehicle only has 40000 miles on it and all rotors are warped and the volume tuner knob will turn the volume up when you try to turn it down
Starter system failed to start the engine. it turned on electrical but would not start the car. the lights turned on and there was one click but nothing else despite repeated attempts to start the car. left me stranded.
Headlights keep blowing and car will not start guessing it's the starter. i think the wires keep blowing the lights out.
I took my car to oil change service at honda dealership. the next day my car won't start. i had to call aaa to jump start my car. 5 days later, it died again. called aaa to jump start it again. i took it to honda dealership to get it inspected. i paid them $100+ just for them to say, "everything looks fine to me". 5 days later, it died again. to which at this point, i would rather not drive it again until a recall happens. this is unsafe especially if you get stranded somewhere.
Honda accord 2014 fails to start after multiple tries, then works out of the blue. i am worried it will leave me stranded one if these days. my car is only 33k miles. honda needs to do a recall. we should all file a petition against honda starter issues. i see multiple similar complaints.
About two months ago my 2014 honda accord would not start on the first try. my car was stationary, and i would need to press the push button start several times before it started. lundgren honda in auburn massachusetts said i needed a new starter. i did not expect a starter to fail on a car with 43k miles, and i've read online that this is a known issue especially with the 2013 and 2014 accords. i paid for the new starter since i did not want to be stranded if the car wouldn't start. i filed a complaint with honda north america but they said the starter is not an issue and there is no need for a recall. i'm concerned that there have been so many complaints about the honda starters without a recall and it poses a safety risk if people are stranded by a part that fails prematurely. although i have a new starter i fear it may fail like the first one did. i've attached photos of the invoice from the honda dealership explaining the issue. thank you for your time and consideration.
Vehicle starts sporadically. vehicle has key ignition. only one click when turning key. electrical system turns on ie. lights, radio etc. it will start sometimes after a few turns of the key. sometimes not at all. battery tested fine, alternator system tested fine, ignition switch is fine, fuses are fine. faulty starter. emergency service provided by insurance company attempted to jump vehicle would not start. needed to be towed. started after 5 or 6 attempts following day. now it takes numerous attempts every time. faulty starter numerous complaints. honda needs to recall.
Since nov.2018 i have the starter problem. with ignition key in either the lights come up - no turning, or is grinds and dies (garage). i replaced the battery thinking it is the battery problem (voltage ~ 12.2 v). mileage about 52k. with new battery i experienced this problem 2-3 times again (parking lot). last time: may 2019 - no lights, the started does not turn. battery was 13.4 v. mileage 58k.
Push button start does not work intermittently. it will go through start sequence but does not turn over engine. have to wait a period of time to start or try multipile times until turns over. i have been stranded in parking lots several times. on review of internet i see that this is an ongoing problem with this model and year.
Please note that there was a recall for the 2013 honda accord for similar issues. the vehicle will at times not start and only make a grinding noise when depressing the start button, this still occurring after changing the battery and starter twice in addition to the fob battery. i speculate that the braking system may contribute to this issue as sometimes the car will start after pumping/pressing the brake pedal a few times or just holding it after initial attempt to start the car (very frustrating). new issue involves the car starting while only pressing the brake and moving the gear shifter (dangerous as a kid can start the vehicle without pressing the start button). have reported the issue to honda (local/california main) and spoke to a honda representative yesterday (5/7/2019) to no avail. please issues a recall for these cars having this issue before someone gets hurt, or worse, looses their lives. this has been going on for years and is almost on a daily basis, last even was today.
My vehicle was parked with the engine shut off and out of nowhere when i went to start it it wouldn't start i tried maybe jumping it but it wasn't working so i had to get it towed. and turns out it was the little connector to the battery terminal so i purchased the part at the dealer and had the mechanic install it the first time. now it is happening again and i didn't realize the first time i did it the part was a recall so paid out of my own pocket myself . and now for it to happen again is a bummer so i should of filed a compliment the first time around but didn't know about it i figured it might of been something i did but now i know now . and it's the second time this happened and i don't know what else to do i fix the problem and it just comes back
When trying to turn the car on, the car may start or not. it's almost a gamble when trying to turn the car on. honda has always been safe and reliable but due to this ignition problem i don't feel safe or it's reliability. the car is push to start, so when it does not want to start it can take anywhere from 2 to 8 try's before the car starts. i had an instance in the past two months where my phone was dead and i was 27 miles from home in a parking structure and the car did not want to start at all.
My 2014 honda accord has been having intermittent issues with the push-button start for several months. i took it to the dealership who replaced the battery and things worked a little better for a couple of weeks, but it is back to not starting intermittently when i hold down the brake and push the starter button.
When pushing the start button, sometimes the car would start, and sometimes it wouldn't. when it would not start, i would have to try it 3 to 5 times to get it to start. my 2014 honda has 71k miles and the starter has gone out. cost to replace my starter was $537.43. my friend, with an idential vehicle, also had her starter go out at 60k miles (same issue). the starter should not be going bad this soon on a "quality" vehicle. a recall on the starter should be issued.
While vehicle is stationary and moving the back up camera is black when in reverse with guidelines. it got darker and pixilated then when black about 2 months ago. now the side lanewatch camera has also stopped working when blinker is on or button pressed. very dangerous to have limited visibility especially when backing out of a parking spot or on a garage. please address this!
Ignition problems. car will not start on initial try. it takes several attempts to start it. my car only has 66k miles. im afraid it will leave me stranded somewhere because it did not start. i put a complaint with honda, i think it is a factory defect, which has plagued this company for years. i am hoping your agency can go further with this issue. thank you
My car keeps dying. the dealer is unsure what's going on with my car. there is no check engine light on. there was a battery recall in 2017.
Issue started march 29th approx. 2014 honda accord lx with 68,000 miles 1 owner (me). tried turning on car and just clicked. finally came on after 5 attempts.took to mechanic and quoted me $600 for starter. did not have the money so i kept having issue until it just stopped turning on. had my starter replaced.
Intermittent starter problem with separate key fobs some times starts fine others it doesn't
Our 2014 honda accord lx has been regularly experiencing starter issues. when starting the car from "park," the car will click as though there is an electrical issue. battery and alternator have checked out. the car only has 65,000 miles on it, and at the five year mark, we should not be having starter issues. similar complaints have been shared online in forums, videos, etc. the issue is now becoming more frequent and more serious. honda needs to issue a recall like they did for the 2013 accord starters!
This just out of warranty vehicle has had some odd problems, some that made the car unsafe to drive, 1) ac compressor clutch melted onto compressor. fixed under warranty. 2) timing belt tensioner leaked fluid, fixed under warranty. 3) dealer diagnosed abs module fault. an intermittent failure. car was out of warranty. this problem caused every other electronic safety system in the car to intermittently fail. opened a case with american honda who denied any responsibility for the problem. these units fail rarely and should last the life of the vehicle. the part (36,000 mile 3-yr warranty) was even back ordered from the manufacturer. for example, only 1 unit was replaced in atlanta, ga since 2014, they wanted almost $1,600 to fix the issue. took it to another specialist who fixed it for under $600 by finding a used part. i think honda should have been more accommodating and concerned. this problem caused the abs, ldw, fcw, and traction control systems to eventually fail. literally, i was lucky that i didn't get in a bad accident as the abs was actually functioning (the day a car turned left in front of me) and saved me from skidding into and t-boning another car. but all these odd issues just leaves me wondering... when's the next weird problem going to pop up?
The car will not start from the first push of starting button while the brake pedal is depressed. it takes at least 3 times to start the cart. i changed the battery and battery for keys. i went to the dealership and they the problem of not starting from first time still happened.
Often takes multiple times to start the car. sometimes it starts right up, other times it takes 2,3,4,5...10 times to start, and sometimes it can take up to 20 minutes to get it started. once it's started, the car runs very well. the problem is becoming more frequent. when you press the ignition button, sometimes it makes a clicking sound, sometimes it makes no sound. all the auxiliary power comes on but the engine doesn't turn over. we have found many many complaints online detailing the same problem with the 2014 accord. mine has just over 67,000 miles on it - way too early for a starter to be failing. this problem has been happening for about 6 months -- but when it started, it would only take 2 or 3 tries to start the car. we replaced the battery and it seemed to fix it for about a month, but then it came back. after much research, we believe it is a defective starter. the honda dealership wants $590 to replace the starter. this is clearly a flaw in manufacturing. honda needs to issue a recall.
When trying to start the car, it won't turn on, like the battery is dead or i need a new starter. this has been happening for about 3 months everyday. before it was every once in awhile.
My 2014 honda accord lanecamera doesn't work out of blue it start with my reverse camera not working not wrong happen it just stop working out of blue please have honda dealer cover it because it's a safety issue thank you
