Problems with 2009 Honda Accord AIR BAGS

Airbags failed to deploy when vehicle hit in front on driver's side. vehicle was damaged to the extent the insurance company declared it a total loss. *tr

I took my 2009 honda accord to the dealership to complain that the warning light would come on indicating the passenger side airbags were off. the dealership told me that an object or passenger in the seat would affect this indicator. i advised them that nothing would be in the seat when the light would intermittenly light up. after much effort the dealership replaced the seat back senor in january 2014. the problem subsided temporarily. today the dashboard indicator constantly turns on and off while i am driving regardless whether anyone or anything is in the passenger seat. if the indicator is correctly monitoring my passenger airbags, then i am driving my car 70 % of the time without the benefit of passenger side airbags never knowing if they will deploy properly, which is outrageous. i contacted american honda and despite living in a recall "humidity zone" (miami, florida) my honda was not included in their limited recall of defective passenger airbag inflators. i think this is absurd and the nhtsa needs to force american honda to include newer honda's on their recall list for defective airbags. *tr

No incident at this time. but airbag light stays lit and on dashboard the seatbelt lights up and the off lights, keeps blinking on dashboard and above hazard button. are there any other complaints? *tr

Dashboard illustrates and indicates "side airbag" is turned off, randomly. this happens frequently(once a week), while nothing is blocking or conflicting with it's normal operation. in the event of a side collision, i'm deeply concerned this could be an electrical issue or faulty sensors for which will not allow the air bag to work properly.. or worse... not at all. *tr

Air bag lamp came on and would not go out, then later, the warning buzzer and seat belt warning lamp quit working. srs control unit failed after 32,188 miles. *tr

The srs indicator stays on permanent and the brakes have to change again after only 6 months. called honda headquarters and was told that there was a recall for srs in 2011 but my vin number was not on the recall list and the my vechicle is out of warranty. i bought my car as a used car at herb chambers in 2010 and the according to them the car was already out of warranty. i need them to call the dealership and have me take the car in for diagnostic and have the issue fixed without me absorbing the cost. *js

I am currently having water leakage from the headliner right where the side curtain airbags are located. this is occurring on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. i am concerned not only for the damage this is causing to my vehicle but because if i were to be in an accident i am afraid that airbags will malfunction and not deploy. *tr

Air bag failure indicator came on. took vehicle to dealer and was advised that air bag needed to be replaced as it had failed. *tr

While making lane change, side curtain airbag, seat, and seatbelt retractor, deployed with out any contact to vehicle. 2009 honda accord located in orlando. airbags, controller module, headliner, and seat have not been replaced yet. seatbelt retractor was replaced with original honda part. *tr

Around september 6, 2013, while driving on a side street, my passenger side front and rear airbags deployed after closing the car door. i took the car to the dealer who said they would contact american honda who said the car was involved in an accident, yes it was back in 2010. honda won't stand behind their product and said to file an insurance claim. if you look online this has happened to several honda owners, with several makes. is honda waiting for someone to get killed before issuing a recall? honda said i probably hit a pothole or curb, if that were the case there would be hundreds of thousand air bags deploying. honda in california won't stand behind their product. glad it did not happen on a highway where someone could have gotten killed. maybe if it happened to a honda corporate employee's car they might fix it!!! i have printed out pages upon pages of honda owners that this has happened to and i will be at the dealership handing out this information to incoming customers to let them know they are doing nothing about a safety issue. i will do this every weekend until there is a recall. *js

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. while driving through the intersection approximately 5 mph, a vehicle moving in the opposite direction crashed into the contact's vehicle. the seat belts failed to restrain the control. the air bags did not deploy. the contact and two passengers sustained injuries. there was a police report filed. the current and failure mileages were approximately 27,000.

I noticed that the passenger side airbag sensor came on intermittently when someone was in the front passenger seat. i took it in to be checked at honda of the avenues in jacksonville, fl. but they informed me that this was a normal action designed to shut off the airbag when persons lean in the path of the side airbag. i let them know that i wanted to have this checked, which they told me it was. fast forward to oct 2014 i heard of the airbag passenger problem and checked my vin. i was not included in the recall but because of my original concern i called front range honda in colorado springs (we moved) and they ran a check of my system on 10/30/2014. fortunately they found and replaced the faulty passenger seat rail sensors when they showed as major failure! thank goodness i never had an accident to test the passenger sensor's! please let me know if others have complained of the same failure and hopefully this will lead to a recall to prevent someone from finding out the hard way. *tr

A noise has developed in our 2009 honda accord in the dash, where the passenger side and right side "a" pillar air bags are located. the car has been returned to a local dealer on 3 seperate occasions. they continue to repair the problem by installing some type of padding in the dash. after each repair, the noise returns after driving about 10 miles. i have asked them on two separate occasions to remove the dash/air bags and inspect the effected areas. i have also reported the problem to the honda customer assistance department. they have indicated they will review my information and have someone call back. my concerns are; that something is loose, creating the noise, along with the fact that some type of problem may exist with the air bags which could result in either an unwanted/non deployment situation or if something is rubbing on a wiring harness a passenger compartment fire. *kb

I had brand new car bought in march 2009 , later in april 2010 i had accident and airbags didn't blow out and i hit my head, sent it to dealer by insurance company and figured that sensor was defected and they exchanged , later on they flights for abs and vsc come on intermittently , sent it to dealer , they figured sensors are defected and will exchange , my concern is how come car with defected parts released to market , and honda company didn't do any thing for me , the car cost over $ 20,000.00 it's better to buy a $ 2000.00 car. *tr

2009 honda accord airbags didn't deploy with radiator wrapped around engine on a front end crash. the other vehicle was a jeep and was hit in the side and all the airbags were deployed. this was not a minor accident as they are thinking of totaling out the vehicle. my mother in law weighs around 100 pounds, but the airbags should have been deployed. she was taken to the hospital, with chest injuries. *tr

My 2009 honda accord ex-l was rear impacted by a big suv when i was stopped at signal light. as a result of rear end collision, i hit the car in front. the front airbag was poorly inflated. i was injured and went to the nearest emergency room. the air bag part was repaired by the auto body shop.

Since the vehicle purchased there is air bag lights on went to workshop at honda dealer three times. but still the problem exits. *tr

No crash yet, but crash likely. 2009 honda accord has dim head lights that create a black blanket in front of driver and narrows on any dip in road. visibility very poor, and the black blanket effect in front of you moves up and down because car bounces alot due to stiff suspension with a wheel system that is too big for car , thus creating the need for a low profile tire that causes car to bounce alot. the driver is very likely to wreck under such circumstances. the only alternative is to run with your bright lights on and then blind fellow oncoming traffic. honda should recall these cars, and consumers should be warned. dealer states light cannot be adjusted due to government regulation, but they were going to adjust my lights at first, but i was told not to turn bright lights on so as not to blind oncoming traffic. the salesman told me that i was tenth person to bring car in to be adjusted. i became angry that i might be at fault if a wreck occurred , and suggested that they were doing something wrong if government said lights should be one way, but after car bought, light adjusted another way. they then refused to adjust my light because they became afraid of attorney general threat. they also then changed their story about the 10 people. this needs to be investigated, and i have one of these cars which is dangerous to drive at night. honda should be made to reimburse us. we should not have to drive a dangerous car. i tried to return my vehicle after buying it on a saturday at closing, then discovering this defect on sunday. i returned vehicle on monday, but they would not rescind the deal. *tr

tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. it was raining and windy she was driving at 45 mph and when she was turning around a curve she lost control of the vehicle went down embankment and collided into a tree and the driver frontal air bag did not deployed. she received injuries to left ear and head concussion. jefferson county sheriff office case number 200911003315. the vehicle will be repaired. she contacted the manufacturer. the manufacturer stated to have her insurance company investigates the air bag failure.

I have contacted my local dealership twice about this recall. they did not have a status on my repair parts. that was over 4 months ago. it has been 8 months since i first contacted them about this recall. 2 months is standard for a recall? this will be going on for 2 years at this rate! way to go honda, and way to go nhtsa. how many more lives have been lost on this recall???
