Recently reported ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING problems on 1999 Honda Accord

The vehicle died due to the fuel line coming off, which was due to the faulty installation of the gas tank. the vehicle would stall on numerous occasions. the dealer could not duplicate the problem. the consumer was sent a recall of the ignition switch. scc

Egr valve emissions continously clogs and no one contacted me about the recall. i spent $500 at other mechanics until i was finally told to call honda.

While the consumer was driving the maintenance needed and check engine lights illuminated, the dealer stated that the egr valve was clogged, consumer is concerned due to the fact that the vehicle passed 2 emissions tests in less than a 4 month period. *yh

Intermittent stalling while driving at any speed. vehicle been in dealer's shop on 3 occasions, and dealer was unable to duplicate problem. feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.*ak

Vehicle stalled once while driving 50-55 mph. dealer could not find a problem with vehicle.*ak the vehicle stalls when applying brake to slow down. *yh

My primary concern is the engine trouble with my 1999 accord. when i need to accelerate the car "misfires" according to the gresham honda dealership. this is where the car is being serviced. contact name and number would be mark cawthorn @ 503-676-7070. i am very hesitant to pull out in traffic at any speed because i never know when my car will misfire. at times the acceleration sticks at both 2-3rpms. basically, there is no acceleration. the check engine light no longer comes on when the car hesitates. the first two times that the car was taken to the honda dealership the check light did come on. my car is currently on it's 5th stay with honda. they(honda and their technicians) seem to have no idea what the problem was. hopefully the problem will be resolved easily and most importantly, quickly. i'd hate to be the cause of an accident. equally as important, i have had a failure with my abs. while there was no accident, i barely stopped at the intersection while brakes locked up on pavement. i have had passengers in my vehicle on such occasions and each would be willing to give tesimonies to such failures as listed above. in fact, the honda technician has also experienced the "misfire" first hand in my accord. i may be a little difficult to reach with college and two jobs but please feel free to leave messages at either phone number. thank you for your time, amber weimerskirch. *ak (tiresize: w-10)

Car stalled while driving. *ak

Crankshaft bolt appears to be sheared off. that held the pully in place which holds on the timing chain and 2 other belts. i contacted the honda corporation who was in touch with wilde honda and was told that there is no defect with the bolt. i have spoken to many other mechanics and they have said that it is most likely due to the factory torqueing the bolt down to tight which may have caused a stress fracture. wilde honda also said that it was due to the air intake filter being changed and the tires being worn. i find that hard to believe and have been told that ,thatis highly unlikely. would you please check into this and let me know if there are any other cases like this. thank you. *ak

Honda has extended the warranty for the egr to 8 yrs due to failures. *ak

Paint on hood is chipping and paint all over car cracks easily. engine fails to start or takes several tries to turn over. dealer failed to duplicate. no safety defect indicated. *ak

The engine shuts down with no warning. the problem has occurred 5 times. the first time it happened on a side street at 35mph. the green security key light came on...experienced a loss of power and then all other lights came on and car stopped. i was able to restart the engine. a few weeks later on the freeway...at 70mph...green security light came on...experienced a loss of power...and then...power came back and car drove on normally. third time, driving over rail road tracks, at 10 mph, green light came on, engine cut off...vehicle was restarted. fourth time, freeway at 70mph, green key light came on, experienced loss of power, engine cut off. tried to restart car several times unsuccessfully. waited 45 minutes and then car restarted. this problem is a direct threat to my life. please help. *ak

Engine check light keeps coming on tied in with emission control.* et

Vehiicle hesistated when acclerating and it stalled. this condition almost caused a crash, which could have been fatal. vehicle has been checked for trouble over 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months. dealership has been unable to correct this problem. *ak vehicle has stalled at four occasions when trying to pull into traffic or accelerate. brake rotors were warpped and rear drum were scored prematurely. clincking noise in the steering column due to combo switch failure. driver seat belt squeake when leaning forward or backward due to retracter failure. *yh

Vehicle experienceed a loud gun shot sound from dashboad area while driving. but no reason or cause could be found. two dealer was contacted and no reason could be given.

Engine mount makes very loud clunk at start-up. honda says in normal.

Ongoing / intermittent problem with the vehicle hesitating; whenever pulling into a intersection or from a stop postion it appears as if it would stall, but does'nt. dealer notifed, and informed consumer that was normal for that type vehicle. it was slow to respond. can nhtsa provide information on this matter before this cause a vehicle collison. *ak

Exhaust pipe runs directly under oilpan plug. everytime oil is changed some oil comes into contact with exist pipe causing smoke. oil tends to burn off after a week or so of driving. i think this presents a potential fire hazard
