We have classified the 135 complaints from 2014 Ford Fusion about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The car will pulsate and shake when driving, then the check engine light would come on. you can't accelerate, like there no accelerating in then the car cut off, which is danger. i have had this car for less then a year, i just payed close to 1,000 bucks getting it fix from having electrical problems that my warranty did not cover. i had to take to the shop for things that was or recalled., in now this. i think i was sell a lemon.
Bushing with transmission cable came off, with it in gear, even tho shifted into park, its a known recall on other models but this one is not recalled, and i had to pay for this to be fixed. not right
Didn't receive anything about this problem whatsoever.
Shift cable keeps coming off
My shifter cable bushing broke today inspite of getting the recall(18s20) done less than five months ago(23july19) at town and country ford at bessemer, alabama. fortunately the vehicle was parked in front of my house and was not in motion. i figured something was off when i the gear shifter moved much smoother than normal. when i stepped on the gas the vehicle wouldn't move. i revved a little more but nothing happened and then i noticed that none of the gears showed that they were engaged in my gage cluster. i immediately turned off the vehicle and popped the hood and found what the issue was. my shifter cable bushing was not in place. i verified my previous service record(attached) to make sure the dealer did the recall repairs and it's was done. but the new bushings snapped off too.
A part for my cars 'shifting cable' has been recalled several times, prior to the recall i had to personally pay out of pocket to replace said shifting cable. at this time my car continues to have severe/dangerous shifting problems. ex: when i'm driving and it's needs to shift gears the car jerks incredibly hard. when i stop at a stop sign and attempt to accelerate i get nothing like the car has shifted to neutral. pedal to the floor car will not go. as you can see this can/could cause a severe wreck, hurting my self my children, and other drivers. this part i can not afford to replace as every time i take the vehicle to ford the piece that has been recalled is not specifically the problem but in the same area. i'm at a loss on how to handle the situation. i'm reaching out with great concern.
Its been 3 years since i have had my car and i have not been notified by ford that i have a recall. not by phone, email, or even in person. the only reason i know i have three is because of my family member who notified me. i have called multiple ford dealerships to complain and get it fixed but they don't seem to want to help. every time i go or call they take my number and that is it. so i just keep going trusting they will call me back. and this week my car starts to have troubles and my transmission hard shifts into second gear and i damage the front and bumper of my car. i took it to my local mechanic and he says the problem comes from the recalled part. and now my car is parked until i can get it fixed and i have called ford and they wont help.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while the contact was attempting to switch the gear shifter from drive into park, the transmission erroneously became stuck in the reverse position. as a result, the vehicle crashed into a nearby residence. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. it was discovered that the transmission cable bushing had failed. an unknown dealer was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 139,576. the vin was invalid.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle failed to switch gears. the contact parked in a nearby parking lot and noticed a leak coming rom the transmission. the contact was able to add transmission fluid. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to autonation ford marietta (located at 869 cobb pkwy se, marietta, ga 30060, (770) 674-6077) where it was diagnosed that an unknown component needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,000.
While in motion on major interstate the vehicle lost acceleration causing traffic to swerve around vehicle as it slowed to a stop. the vehicle was running but would not move in any gear selected. the vehicle had to be towed and left my family stranded on the shoulder. the dealer informed me the transmission failed before first recommended service of 150,000 miles of service. unable to check fluid due to no dipstick on the model attached to the 1.5l engine. dealer claims trans pump went out causing failure.
I purchased my ford while it was still under the warranty. i took it to a dealer because i was losing power while driving in a certain gear at a certain rpm after the engine was running for about 30 minutes. i was told it was a wiring issue which i had the dealer fix. by this time i was close to the warranty being up. it didnt fix the issue. the vehicle loses power intermittently or stutters. i get p0352 codes. i have been dealing with it because it is intermittent but recently the wiring harness melted on an ignition coil. i have replaced the ignition coils, the pig tail, the spark plugs, changed transmission fluid, rechecked all the cables, and once the dealer reprogrammed the pcm. it has to be the transmission but because it is intermittent the dealer cant find anything wrong. i actually lost power once at low speeds after the transmission slipped and dinged a poll causing a dent in my car. thankfully i only lost power once on the high way and no one hit me. since i am out of warranty i am forced to find the cause and fix it myself. i do not have 4 grand for a new transmission install. my research shows that ford has three issues with my year. 1. ignition coils over heating due to bad pcms or programming 2. transmission bubbles or tears forming in the rings 3. cable controls on the transmissions. i am out of options and dont know what to do so i figure i would warn off others. dont by a ford with the 6f35 transmission unless it is a later year. i hear the 2019 has it fixed and i wish i could have one of those but the best i can do is warn others. i am stuck. 2 years of my life wasted.
I put my vehicle in park but my car was still in reverse. i got out of the vehicle and it started to roll away. the shifter said park but the car was in reverse. i had to put the emergency brake on and eventually tow my vehicle home.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph and the 'see manual' warning indicator illuminated. the contact veered to the shoulder of the road, exited the vehicle, and noticed transmission fluid leaking. the vehicle was towed by the insurance company to metro ford chicago (6455 s western ave, chicago, il 60636, (773) 776-7600) where it was diagnosed that the transmission and water pump needed to be replaced. the transmission was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to bring the vehicle back to the dealer for a second diagnostic test. the contact mentioned that the transmission was replaced last year at the same dealer. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving approximately 73 mph, a warning indicator illuminated to stop driving the vehicle. the contact pulled the vehicle over, shifted into park, and turned off the vehicle as the engine suddenly revved on its own. the contact restarted the vehicle and slowly drove to the nearest parking lot. without the contact depressing the accelerator pedal or shifting the gears, the engine revved back up and the vehicle began to move in reverse. the contact depressed the brake pedal and moved the gear in park. when the contact looked at the gear shifter, she noticed that the gear had not moved from the park position despite moving in reverse. the contact towed the vehicle to valley ford (located at 910 s 1st street, yakima, wa 98901, 509-453-3125), but it was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer informed the contact that the failure occurred while at the shop. the contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign numbers: 19v362000 (power train) and 18v471000 (power train), which were related to the failures. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and referred the contact to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Knocking noise when pressing gas pedal to put car in motion. knocking noise when shifting from drive to reverse and vise versa (no gas). knock when accelerating after rounding a turn. noise is light enough that it is mostly discernible when there is low road noise, such as beginning from a stop or when in electric mode.
This vehicle has a noise in the transmission when you accelerate or use the gas. the noise is getting increasingly louder and i have been told that it is a known issue with these hybrid ford fusions. it only has 115,000 miles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle hesitated, shifted gears, and jerked. however, after a couple of minutes, the vehicle would shift back into the correct gear. the contact stated that the wrench (transmission or engine) warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to several auto zones where the contact was informed that the failure was related to the transmission and to contact the dealer. the vehicle was towed to randall reed's prestige ford (3601 s shiloh rd, garland, tx 75041) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced and the failure was not related to nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the contact was upset that she would have to pay for the transmission replacement. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 280,000.
Car has limited power and acceleration. hesitates when accelerating. when climbing a hill, transmission wont downshift properly. when maneuvering "s" curves you can feel resistance in the steering. there is a wrench light for the restraint system that cant be located.
The vehicle was sitting about 24 hours and i go to get in it to go to work and it doesn't immediately start like it normally does, once it started the service brake light was now on along with the maintenance wrench and my brakes were practically non existent since i don't live far i drove it to the dealer with a escort vehicle just in case and the dealer replaced the battery retested and is now being sent to the manufacturer dealer to have something with the hybrid system serviced will update with more detail when received.
Tl* the contact's mother owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving at various speeds or while the vehicle was idling, it would stall and shut off without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle did not immediately restart after experiencing the failure. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic twice where the vehicle was serviced; however, the failure continued each time. the manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 75,000.
After months of hard shifting and slipping, in june of 2019...with only 53,000 miles on the car...the transmission popped out of gear and into neutral while on the interstate, and refused to go back into gear. vehicle had to be coasted, in dangerous fashion and in traffic, off to the side of the road. vehicle later began shifting okay (temporarily) and no cause or fix could be found. ford motor company sent us on our way in the vehicle. then in november of 2019, with only 65,000 miles on the vehicle, the vehicle began clunking and spewing transmission fluid everywhere which driving around the city. our local ford service department has determined the vehicle needs a completely new transmission. fmc is also refusing to cover the cost of repair now that the vehicle is just barely out of warranty....even though problems were reported while the vehicle was still under warranty. attached documents, and incident information (speed, mileage) are in reference to the first incident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. when the contact attempted to place the vehicle in drive, it went into reverse. the contact also stated that the brakes seized while reversing in the driveway. a child was running past at the time of the failure and the contact had to use excessive force to stop the vehicle and avoid the child. the vehicle was taken to grand prix ford (701 e palace pkwy, grand prairie, tx 75050, (972) 975-9621) where it was diagnosed that a new shifter cable was needed. the vehicle was currently being repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the contact may pay out of pocket, but would be reimbursed by the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 68,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the transmission remained in the neutral position and would not switch into the drive position. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission bushing shifter cable was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. coconut point ford (22400 s. tamiami trl, estero, fl) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 144,000.
There is a recall on ford manual ford fusion but i know of two automatics with the same problem. ours is a 2014 ford fusion and we have a big problem with the clutch. just like the manual recall.
Purchased the car used, with 77,600 miles on it. after owning it a couple days, started noticing an issue. when pressing gas to go, the car hesitates and will not accelerate. feels like the car is going to stall, shakes a bit. we took it to a ford dealer, who "reset the computer to adjust to my son's driving". did not fix the problem. was told clutch issue and would cost $1300 to repair!!!! no way.
Broken shift selection cable. similar to other recalls with this make and model (18v471000 and 19v362000) . it was stationary, i was able to put the car in park and remove my key but the transmission was set to neutral. if the car was on an incline it would have rolled and caused a crash.
Car lost power on (non-interstate) highway as we were coming up to a four-way stop. when my wife tried to get the car moving again, it bucked and sputtered. the wrench light illuminated on the car's dash, which means "powertrain fault", according to ford. the car barely ran and we pulled over to the side of the road, shut it off and restarted it after one minute. it then ran better and we were able to get home. after restarting, then wrench light went out. it has had a rough idle since then. the dealer found no stored dtcs from the incident, but after significant testing, the car set p0570 - unable to maintain idle speed. dealer says it is a failing electronic throttle body but that it is not covered under the powertrain warranty. this is a serious safety issue as it failed without warning and could have put us in serious danger if we were on a crowded interstate highway. i do not feel safe driving it anywhere but on in-town trips and maybe on lightly-traveled back roads. i have been arguing with ford (the company, not the ford dealer) on the phone that they should cover the cost of replacing the throttle body. so far i have not been able to get anyone on the phone who can make that happen.
Car was in garage, would freely shift out of park but wouldn't catch any gears. no lights game on the dash. when it was in park the p would light up, but when you move the shifter nothing lights up. upon further inspection, the shifter cable bushing game off and was loose. this is a current recall but for some reason does not apply to my vin.
After getting to my destination and pulling into a designated parking spot, i put the vehicle in park and got out. as i was getting out, the vehicle began to roll. i immediately got back in and applied the brakes. i checked to see if i indeed had put the vehicle in park and the parking indicator read "park". at that time, i engaged the parking break to keep the vehicle from rolling. fault: "vehicle continues to move after being placed in park." after investigating the problem, i found out that ford had a recall (recall 18s20) for faulty shift cable bushing. i checked the shift cable bushing and it was broke. upon checking with the ford dealer, they told me the vehicle wasn't covered by the recall due to it being manufactured after the recall ended. how can the vehicle have the same issue as the recall if it was manufactured after the recall?
Transmission slips into gear with a slight jerk when up shifting or down shifting. never have issue putting car into drive however there is a delay occasionally when putting the car into reverse from drive to backup. sometime can take up to 3 seconds before it initiates into reverse to back up.
Not shifting properly and a leak. there is a recall # 18v169000 but it does not include this particular ford fusion even though this is happening to my car.
Vehicle will go into safe mode while driving and will force you to pull over and shut down vehicle regardless of location, traffic, or driving condition. when you shut off car, you wait a few minutes, restart car and then car drives normal again, until it happens again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contacted stated that the gear shift selector seized in neutral. the vehicle was taken to palm coast ford (located at 1150 palm coast pkwy sw, palm coast, fl 32137, (386) 447-3380) where it was diagnosed that the bushing on the transmission cable fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was currently being repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
While attempting to drive to work one morning, i started my vehicle, and put it in drive. when i hit the gas, i rolled backwards. i noticed the display showed me in reverse even though the shifter was in drive. i tried shifting gears but the display still had me in reverse even when i shifted to neutral and back in park. i turned the vehicle off and tried to turn the car back on but it would not start because the display still showed the transmission in reverse even though the shifter was still in park. because of this, the car would roll forward. i had to use my emergency brake to prevent the vehicle from rolling. this is is a known recall but for some reason my vehicle's vin number was not part of the recall so i had to pay for towing and repairs out of pocket.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while the vehicle was turned off and in the park position, it reversed out of the driveway without warning. the contact ran outside, opened the driver's door, and applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. there was no crash or injuries. the vehicle was towed to yemm ford, inc. (2201 w main st, galesburg, il 61401, (888) 420-6993) where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable bushing failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to file a complaint with nhtsa. the failure mileage was 205,208.
Transmission has a huge delay when calling for power, wont downshift when it should, shifts hard at times randomly. delay causes engine wind up and sudden bursts of acceleration making stopping a lot harder and rougher.
Shift cable off transmission cable bushing. parked at work, shifted to park and took foot off brake and began rolling. shifter was stuck in the park position but car was in drive. used e-brake avoid rolling into vehicle ahead of me. bob allen ford in overland park, ks completed the repairs and noted "c/s the car will not start it thinks it is in drive found shift cable off transmission replaced cable bushing and adjusted cable, verified operation. this is known recall on 2013 and 2014 ford fusions manufactured at the hermosillo mexico plant, but my car manufactured in december of 2013, does not fall within the dates on the recall so i was required to pay for repairs, parts, labor, and a tow to the service center totaling $447.12. advised by bob allen ford to file a complaint and/or contact ford about the issue and request a refund.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure listed in nhtsa campaign number: 19v362000 (power train). while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was engaged; however, upon exiting the vehicle, it moved in reverse. the contact had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to green ford (located at 2211 w pioneer pkwy, peoria, il 61615, (309) 693-2525) where it was diagnosed that the clip fractured and the shifter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 122,668. the vin was invalid.
There is a recall on ford fusions for shifter cable coming loose which occurred to my fusion i was informed at the ford dealer that my vehicle was not part of the recall so i had to pay $500 to have it repaired.since this is the same problem on the same year model vehicles in the recall , i think all fusions should be included in recall before some one is in an accident or injured
Takata recall - i was trying to park my car and as i moved the gear shift to reverse the dash reflected that the car was still in drive. only way i could get my car to stop was putting on the emergency break. i discovered that there is a recall for this issue recall number 18v471000 but because my vin number is not listed for the recall ford dealership refuses to fix it without charge.
My car is a 2014 ford fusion i purchased at the dealership 2 years ago. never had a problem until recently. after i turn on my car and switch gear to "drive" my car will shut down within 20 feet. i have to park the car and wait a few minutes and try again; it always happens later on during the day when driving off a parking lot. the main problem is that the "check engine" light never comes of, but there is certainly a problem when the car shuts down on it's own; it never shuts off while driving at high speed, but i am truly concern with this matter. i took my car to the dealership to get to the bottom of the problem. i was advised it will cost me $110.00 for a diagnostic, which i paid. i waited for 4 hours and according to the mechanic the antifreeze is mixing with the engine oil and that's what cause the car to stall occasionally and the cost of repair will be $2,100.00. when i checked the car along with a personal mechanic there is no indication of anything mixing with the engine oil, the oil is clean is not milky and it smells fine. bottom line i am not happy with the fact that there is no recall for this serious issue and even more so that ford dealership was so dishonest about the car symptoms. needless to say i will not buy a ford again and still don't know what's wrong with my car
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving 75 mph on the freeway, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was pulled over to the road shoulder and would not restart. the vehicle was towed to an unknown location. also, when the contact filled the tank with fuel, the engine made an abnormal sound. in addition, the transmission slipped and would not shift into the correct gear and the check engine indicator illuminated. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 93,973.
Shifter cable deteriorated causing the vehicle to not go to "park". the vehicle was stationary in a parking lot and would not start due to this issue. i put the parking brake on to prevent rolling away.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while operating the vehicle, the transmission would not shift into gear. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the transmission pump and torque converter. approximately two months later, the transmission shift cable bushing detached and caused the vehicle to roll backwards. the vehicle was taken to town ford (1680 whittlesey rd, columbus, ga), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the failure mileage was 137,000.
Transmission down shifts and the car losses forward speed while driving at highway and city streets.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the gear shifter became stuck in the park position and the vehicle continued to roll as if it were in the neutral position. during the failure, the gear shifter display also indicated that the transmission was in the neutral position. the vehicle was towed to mountain view ford (301 east 20th street, chattanooga, tn) where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable bushing was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the failure mileage was 110,293.
While car was stopped i moved the shift lever into park but the dashboard indicated car was in neutral and when i took my foot off the brake the car started to roll. shift lever was locked in the park and would not let me move it into another position. car allowed me to turn off and remove key without car being in park. emergency brake was turned on to keep it from rolling. this appears to be the same issue indicated in a recall listed on this website but per ford there is no recall for my car. i would like this issued reviewed to have a recall placed on it. *tr
Car dies when i stop at stop signs or red light on cold mornings. on city streets going to work. car taken to auto center 12-18-18 & problem found. i was told only ford dealerships could repair. 35a-p061b:00:47-found an internal failure in the power train control module. correction/action taken- refer to dealer for repair-programmable module
My car will not shift out of park.
I had an issue on my 14 fusion. of the shifter separating from the transmission. i noticed the problem when i shifted my car into the park position and removed my foot from the break, allowing my car to pull forward again. thankfully i was in a parking area with plenty of room. no one was hurt and no property damage was sustained. this problem leaves you with no transmission controls. ford does have a recall on the very problem my car experienced but, unfortunately for me my car was not included, leaving me to fix the problem myself. ford needs to expand the recall since it is obviously a bigger problem then they believe with my car having this same failure. the last recall they fixed ,seatbelt on front passenger, has only had more issues of retracting then before the service, does make me wonder if it's not better that i repaired the failure personally. it failed at 90k but i have had no more issues after a 20 dollar repair.
