On 12/12/2019 while backing downhill out of my driveway, several of my 2014 ford fusion hybrid's warning system alerts flashed on including: power steering assist failure, advancedtrac failure and hill start assist failure. i immediately stopped the engine and consulted the owner's manual which advised restarting the engine after waiting at least 10 seconds. when the same series of alerts recurred, despite the lack of power steering i drove it to borgman ford mazda in grandville, michigan. today, i was informed that the problem was due to an electronic malfunction/failure within the power steering control module. i was also informed that "fix" would not be covered under any ford motor warranty or recall and that the estimated cost of repair was $2200! contacting ford motors' customer service directly proved fruitless since my wife was told that ford motors was unable/unwilling to offer any financial assistance but but they did strongly "suggest" that we have the repair completed but to "save our receipts" just in case at some future time a recall for this specific problem was issued. odometer mileage- 39700. *** this vehicle was affected and serviced for safety recall notice 18s08 / nhtsa recall 18v-167 (steering wheel attachment bolt replacement) which was performed on 7/24/2018.

While driving home from work i lost all power steering components of my car. power steering assist fault, hillside assist fault, & service required came up on dash. 72k this happened at. i had the original recall done on the steering column bolts, but now, what ford should have prevented in the recall has happened.

Its been 3 years since i have had my car and i have not been notified by ford that i have a recall. not by phone, email, or even in person. the only reason i know i have three is because of my family member who notified me. i have called multiple ford dealerships to complain and get it fixed but they don't seem to want to help. every time i go or call they take my number and that is it. so i just keep going trusting they will call me back. and this week my car starts to have troubles and my transmission hard shifts into second gear and i damage the front and bumper of my car. i took it to my local mechanic and he says the problem comes from the recalled part. and now my car is parked until i can get it fixed and i have called ford and they wont help.

Electric power steering rack failed and power steering loses power while driving at normal speeds. advancetrac light, traction control and hill assist lights show on dashboard.

Steering assist fault light on. power steering went out while driving on city street . traction control and hill start fault light came. service advance trac light came on as well.

The electric power steering needed replacement at 69k miles.the 2013 ford fusions had a power steering recall but the 2014 did not.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while the contact's daughter was driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized. the contact's daughter had to use excessive strength to turn the steering wheel. the vehicle was turned off and would not restart and "power assist fault" appeared on the instrument panel. the vehicle was towed by the contact's father and taken to tyler ford (2626 s sw loop 323, tyler, tx 75701, (800) 788-7876). the vehicle was currently being diagnosed and may be repaired if the failure was under warranty. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 130,000.

2014 ford fusion titanium power steering failure at only 34,000 miles. power steering failed while vehicle was in motion. several warning lights came on: service advance track, power steering fault, lane keeping assist fault. regained power steering after restarting car but this happened three times in three days so i took it to dealer for repair. required replacement of entire power steering rack and realignment. total cost to me was $2200. i have notified ford customer service of the issue, but of course, no action was taken yet. this is a major safety issue as the car was almost impossible to steer, especially at lower speeds. based on what i have read from other consumers on the internet, this is not an isolated incident for this model year even though a recall has not yet been issued.

While driving approximately 35mph and proceeded to slow down to make a turn, my steering wheel froze and i was unable to make the turn, almost crashing into the vehicle in front of me that was at a stop. i was able to force the wheel to turn at the next stop light using quite abit of force and was able to park the vehicle to have it towed away. the vehicle only had 47k miles and we only drove it about 4k miles locally within the last year. all maintence was kept up and no other issues until now. dealer quoted $2k for repair. we are calling ford customer service as its out of warranty and dealer said its not recalled in the ford database but yet there are numerous complaints and the recall listed matched what we were diagnosed with.

Loose string wheel

My power steering went and my traction control and hill start assist have went on at the same time as the power steering it was parked in a parking lot got in stunned it on everything stopped working

While driving my 2014 ford fusion on the freeway two warnings popped up onto my screen saying, power assist steering failure and hill climb assist failure, which resulted in a failure of my power steering which left it very difficult for me to control the vehicle and avoid any injury to myself or others. after having to drive it to the ford dealership in this condition, i am told that they cannot help me out since there is no direct recall under my vin number to match this car although there are multiple steering recalls on top of the class action lawsuit opened for this exact claim i am having. i have been passed back and forth from their management to customer service with no care or sympathy whatsoever for something that could have resulted in death or injury of myself or anyone else on the road at the time. i have only had the car for a year and it is at 91,000 miles so it has surpassed its warranty on miles and i have no coverage for the repairs whatsoever.

Car was attempting to park when this happened: 2013-16 model year ford fusion and 2013-14 ford escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. on affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission. a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. the condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to 'park' and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in 'park,' with no warning message or audible chime. if the parking brake is not applied, a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. contacted ford dealership with vin and was tols vin # does not match recall even though recall was made in the fourth year of ownership july 2018 and recall matches my vehicle ford fusion 2014 year make and model unable to contact ford 800 numbee due to weekend business hours please review assist and offer remedy. recall number is #18s20 thanks.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the power steering was faulty. the contact lost control of the vehicle and it was difficult to turn the steering wheel. in addition, the power steering and traction control warning indicators illuminated and "assist power steering" appeared on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to parish ford (2900 river rd w, goochland, va 23063, (804) 556-4444) where it was diagnosed that a new steering column and/or power steering gear needed to be installed. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer would not repair the vehicle because the vehicle exceeded the warranty mileage. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer in 2015 for repairs at 84,000 miles. the contact stated that the dealer started counting at 84,000 miles and not from when the vehicle was purchased. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 216,022.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. the contact stated that the power steering failed. the vehicle was taken to ashland ford chrysler (28715 us-2, ashland, wi 54806) where it was diagnosed that the internal steering rack needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 73,000.

Power steering control module is malfunctioning. this is causing my steering to act on it's own. the car at times will try to turn on it's own, other times it tries to counter steer while going around bends. the faster you go the worse it gets.

This is a 2014 ford fusion titanium. 42,*** miles on the car. my car is a certified preowed car. i just started my car in the morning and 3 different warnings came on. the car wasn't moving when this happened. car was parked in my driveway. driven the night before no problems. i haven't hit anything or any other service performed since last oil change. lights that came on steering assist fault service required, hill start assist not available and service advancetrac. these are the light and warnings that came on. this makes it to where the car had no power steering and very hard to move the wheel. i had to drive it to the dealership and they're currently looking at it for the cause. i do have a video of the warning lights coming on.

My husband was backing out of the driveway and went to turn on the road when he realized his steering wheel would not turn, and several lights came on the dash. he slowly guided the car back in to the driveway so that he could safely look under the hood. my husband disconnected the battery and reconnected it and the steering seems fine. after looking on several different forums i realized that there is a class action lawsuit against ford for this same issue. will this ever be on a recall or does so many people have to lose their life before the recall happens?

Well first off the traction no hill assist indicator came on out of nowhere and 2 days later my power steering having problems and thing it went out as soon as i made it home because that would of been a bad situation. and to think it's an easy fix when you getting charge an arm and a leg just not right at all this is an serious problem that should have a recall.

In october, 2018, the power steering began going out intermittently. had it "repaired" at a cost of $1029. it began doing the same thing 6 weeks ago, took it in they say it is a different problem now with estimated cost of 2k to fix. not having the money, i continued to drive the car and it did not act up until last week. it continues to go out, with no rhyme or reason, and when i stop, turn the car off and remove the key, then restart it, it fixes its self. i do not believe that something that was "repaired" in october can break again in a different way within a few months. every time i drive i hope that the steering does not go out while i am in a curve, because that could result in me wrecking. there are so many problems with ford power steering that i feel this is a defect that should be repaired at no cost to me, until they actually get it right.
