I purchased my ford while it was still under the warranty. i took it to a dealer because i was losing power while driving in a certain gear at a certain rpm after the engine was running for about 30 minutes. i was told it was a wiring issue which i had the dealer fix. by this time i was close to the warranty being up. it didnt fix the issue. the vehicle loses power intermittently or stutters. i get p0352 codes. i have been dealing with it because it is intermittent but recently the wiring harness melted on an ignition coil. i have replaced the ignition coils, the pig tail, the spark plugs, changed transmission fluid, rechecked all the cables, and once the dealer reprogrammed the pcm. it has to be the transmission but because it is intermittent the dealer cant find anything wrong. i actually lost power once at low speeds after the transmission slipped and dinged a poll causing a dent in my car. thankfully i only lost power once on the high way and no one hit me. since i am out of warranty i am forced to find the cause and fix it myself. i do not have 4 grand for a new transmission install. my research shows that ford has three issues with my year. 1. ignition coils over heating due to bad pcms or programming 2. transmission bubbles or tears forming in the rings 3. cable controls on the transmissions. i am out of options and dont know what to do so i figure i would warn off others. dont by a ford with the 6f35 transmission unless it is a later year. i hear the 2019 has it fixed and i wish i could have one of those but the best i can do is warn others. i am stuck. 2 years of my life wasted.
While driving the vehicle on the highway after driving for 4 hours the coolant overheating light flashed on but went off the temp gauge went from cool to hot and back to cool. car sputtered like it was going to stall i pushed on gas to keep it from cutting out but i had gas pedal all the way down and it barely gave it a boost car reluctantly kept moving until about 45 min down the road the coolant overheating light stayed on and car sputtered and totally died. next day was towed and they replaced the oxygen sensor. car was low on coolant but they couldn't find a leak. was able to drive for 2 days before everything happened again. our repair man said we need to take it to the ford dealer which we will do this week with not much hope due to previous visits with ford. codes engine coolant over temperature condition, cylinder 4 misfire detected, misfire detected on startup( first 1000 revolutions)

Vehicle will go into safe mode while driving and will force you to pull over and shut down vehicle regardless of location, traffic, or driving condition. when you shut off car, you wait a few minutes, restart car and then car drives normal again, until it happens again.
Car was attempting to park when this happened: 2013-16 model year ford fusion and 2013-14 ford escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. on affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission. a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. the condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to 'park' and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in 'park,' with no warning message or audible chime. if the parking brake is not applied, a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. contacted ford dealership with vin and was tols vin # does not match recall even though recall was made in the fourth year of ownership july 2018 and recall matches my vehicle ford fusion 2014 year make and model unable to contact ford 800 numbee due to weekend business hours please review assist and offer remedy. recall number is #18s20 thanks.

Car shifts extremely hard out of park after sitting for an hour or more. also shifts very hard into 3rd gear while driving, regardless of how much throttle you give it.

The problem began in february 2019 when the described car began to stall while in drive, reverse and/or park. car shakes violently and then dies stating 'press brake to start'. after the car is put in park, turned off and back on, car resumes normal function. after first taking in the car, the turbocharger was found to be the culprit. after getting a very expensive repair done, the problem returned shortly after. traveling across the country, the problem happened again. after returning home and having more work done, the problem continued to happen. when on city roads, in the driveway or parking lots, the stalling continued. in only nine months, the new spark plugs needed to be replaced and two engine coils had failed. then after this work was completed, the problem continued but no engine light had come on. then in december 2019 the car was taken to a ford dealership in kansas to be diagnosed. after claiming the transmission needed work or even worse possible replacement, i was faced with the question of whether or not to keep the car. after the car was finished at the dealership with no repair done other than a recall, the engine light came on and the problem became worse: more frequent and more intense shaking. after multiple calls made to the dealership to inquire about after market warranty coverage on the repair, the dealership has not called back.
My cars engine shuts off after accelerating with no warning. no engine lights come on during the process and my car remains in motion but can't accelerate. the car starts to shake vigorously when right before shutting off. i need to shut off the car and turn it back on to get it going, but it becomes dangerous when on the road. i took it to a mechanic who can't determine the cause of the issue. this issue only happens after a second startup of the vehicle within an hour time of shutting off the vehicle for the first time. after restarting the vehicle after the second failed drive, everything works correctly again. all electrical systems keep working when the engine shuts off. happened 12 different times for me since february.
My car is a 2014 ford fusion i purchased at the dealership 2 years ago. never had a problem until recently. after i turn on my car and switch gear to "drive" my car will shut down within 20 feet. i have to park the car and wait a few minutes and try again; it always happens later on during the day when driving off a parking lot. the main problem is that the "check engine" light never comes of, but there is certainly a problem when the car shuts down on it's own; it never shuts off while driving at high speed, but i am truly concern with this matter. i took my car to the dealership to get to the bottom of the problem. i was advised it will cost me $110.00 for a diagnostic, which i paid. i waited for 4 hours and according to the mechanic the antifreeze is mixing with the engine oil and that's what cause the car to stall occasionally and the cost of repair will be $2,100.00. when i checked the car along with a personal mechanic there is no indication of anything mixing with the engine oil, the oil is clean is not milky and it smells fine. bottom line i am not happy with the fact that there is no recall for this serious issue and even more so that ford dealership was so dishonest about the car symptoms. needless to say i will not buy a ford again and still don't know what's wrong with my car

Ecoboost engine failure while driving. smoke was pouring out, complete power loss during drive on city street. ford refusal to acknowledge any problem with ecoboost engine. our ecoboost engine cracked and failed. our vin not included in the ecoboost recall. we had to pay $4,200 out of pocket to buy new engine and new turbo. 44 days without vehicle. we are aware of a class action lawsuit in the uk for a total of 2000 and counting confirmed ecoboost engine failures that ford is trying to ignore liability. ecoboost nightmare uk. please help us make ford liable for these known defects with ecoboost engines and get our money back!
Loud noise from passenger side of engine compartment came out of nowhere when we started the car on thanksgiving day. we took the car to our local mechanic which is 2 miles from our home. he diagnosed the problem immediately as a bad water pump but was confused as to why the water pump would go bad at only 77k miles. when he went to order the part he found out that the existing water pump had been discontinued and replaced by a water pump that no longer used the electronics that the original water pump used. ford (from local dealership)techs explained that the existing wires should just be cut and shrinkwrapped as they were no longer needed. he also learned that to do the install of the newer version water pump that the timing belt would need to be adjusted and a 'special timing kit' would be needed. this repair actually involved removing the right side axle to use the 'special timing kit'. i can find no recall on the original water pump even though it has been discontinued and replaced with an entirely different part. i was informed that this is not under warranty and a phone complaint with ford corporate was filed today. ford refused to give me any information on why the pump was discontinued and offered no help in covering this week long expensive repair. my local mechanic explained that this is not only recall worthy but a safety hazard and i should report it to you immediately.
Every so often my car will stall out. i will restart and it will stall out aleast 3 times before it will drive normal, sometimes i have to wait until the check engine light comes on before the stalling out stops. if i make a long trip 20 miles or more, and reach my destination car will shall at the end of the trip or when im leaving from a long trip. i cant seem to have the check engine light on long enough for the dealer to check due to light will clear.
Engine stalls due to fuel vacuum. when driving the engine to will stall under low rpms especially when pulling out of driveaway and at stop signs. this happens daily.
Air conditioning clutch broke off the compressor. since the car is only 4 years old, i don't think it should have happened. has this happened to other cars that are less than 5 years old? the system worked one day and not the next. only record i have is the bill that i paid to have it fixed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving at unknown speeds, the engine overheated and coolant leaked onto the ground. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to capitol ford (919 capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, ca 95136, (408) 426-8298) where it was diagnosed that coolant leaked into the engine, and the head gasket, camshaft and timing belt needed to be replaced. the dealer also stated that the cam phasers may be sticking and additional diagnostic testing was needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 64,571.
My fusion a/c clutch bolt came out and the clutch wheel came off. i was driving at the time and it all bounced under my car. the a/c does not work now. this should be a recall issue because it should never have come loose to fall off.
Wrench light came on beginning of july as i was traveling interstate in heat ((98 degrees) . weeks later the engine light appears along wit the wrench light. i noticed a smell but thought nothing of it since it was so hot outside. the torque converter was bad and replaced by ford (transmission pulled) but also the mechanic noticed leaking of coolant and i had to replace coolant flange, the g-adaptor-water outlet connect, coolant outlet pipe and of course, antifreeze. most fusions recalled but not mine according to ford customer service, i have a 1.5 l engine built is flat rock assembly as others were. i was told by them to hold onto the bill. really?
Vacuum pump failed without any warning. this caused loss of power brakes. nearly crashed at intersection as i was forced to go through a red light because of the loss of brakes. upon disassembly of vacuum pump i found that the driver for the vacuum pump was broken off in the camshaft and the pump was seized. this is a major safety issue i believe that if my wife or daughter had been driving we would have surely wrecked. also i think ford will avoid this issue based in the high cost of repairs. removing the broken piece from the camshaft amounted to major engine repair. the car wash as at the repair shop several weeks.
So i have a 2014 fusion, bought pre-owned currently with about 16,000 miles. i recently noticed that my car when accelerating pauses to accelerate. this is especially noticeable trying to go from 0-60 as fast as possible. also after slowing down and hitting the gas pedal it almost feels like no power is being applied to the engine momentarily. i was stationary, then in motion below 10mph crossing an intersection on a city street and to my right a vehicle was doing 40+ in a 25 and flew over a hill and almost hit me. when i went to accelerate to get out of his way, this is when i noticed the problem, i slammed the gas and didn't move until a literal second later, luckily he slammed his brakes and nothing happened. reason unknown, however after experimenting in a safe environment some more, i noticed that it only really happens in drive, not sport. although it is an automatic, they split up these sections and probably different "chips" that dictate these controls. it could be a delay between pressing the pedal and receiving power. unfortunately, i cannot drive the vehicle and record at the same time as i don't have a safe way of doing so, and it looks like you don't allow video to be uploaded anyway. the vehicle currently has 27,000, model se, 2.5l engine, semi-automatic transmission. again, does delay in acceleration in drive, not sport.

My 2014 fusion is periodically overheating. after taking it to 2 different mechanics & neither one being able to determine what is causing it i found recall #17s09 involving the same yr, model & assembly plant as my vehicle but only including 1.6l gtdi engines. my vehicle has a 1.5l gtdi & i believe is being affected by the same issue as the 1.6l models that have already been recalled.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle shut off and restarted without warning. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to ford lincoln of franklin (615-800-6500, located at 1129 murfreesboro rd, franklin, tn 37064) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Very dangerous safety hazard with 2014 ford fusion. there are issues with the car stalling on me. typically it happens when i am leaving a parking lot or gas station, pulling away from a stop sign/light, or reversing from a parking spot and shifting back into drive. it will sputter, the rpm needle rapidly fluctuates above 1 and under 1, and then will just go to 0. at all times i am driving at low speeds, but numerous times i was either driving into a busy street or it stalled in an intersection where i or other people could have been seriously injured. this has happened about 3 times in the last 4 weeks, but it is very random. one day it happened one time at an intersection, then it happened twice in one evening it was to the dealership each time and they said they could not find an issue because there is no code. there is no engine light on, so they said they can not diagnose the problem. i searched nhtsa website and i am not the only person who reports this problem. my coworker also has a 2014 ford fusion and had the same problem. currently 28,000 miles on the car. this needs to be fixed
While driving in traffic the vehicle would stall, necessitating re-start and normal operation. replacement of part # bu5z*9f972*b sensor fixed the problem.
This car just fell apart at 130000 miles. the purge valve failed 3 times. the abs speed sensor pigtail failed. the entire pcm unit board shorted un repairable. the map sensor failed. ford has charged me 3 times for diagnosis as failures were less then 4 days apart so towed back each time. a pcm complete failure on a car not even 4 years old with only 130000 miles is an issue as they want around $1000 for replacement when it should not be failing. add in all the previous recalls this car has been a lemon from the start. i am a long time ford buyer but this has soured me. the abs pig tail triggered all safety lights drops power steering and poor braking.
Very dangerous safety hazard with my 2014 ford fusion. i have been having issues with my car stalling on me. typically it happens when i am leaving a parking lot or gas station, pulling away from a stop sign/light, or reversing from a parking spot and shifting back into drive. it will sputter, the rpm needle rapidly fluctuates above 1 and under 1, and then will just go to 0. at all times i am driving at low speeds, but numerous times i was either driving into a busy street or it stalled in an intersection where i or other people could have been seriously injured. this has happened about 10 times in the last 2 weeks, but it is very random. some days will go by without a hitch and other days it will happen 2 or 3 times. most of the time when it happens, it happens again right after. so i will put the car in park, completely shut it off, and turn it back on, it will drive for like 5-10ft and then do it again. i took it to the dealership, and they said they could not find an issue. the did a few test drives and let it sit and run for awhile, and the car didn't stall. there is no engine light on, so they said they can not diagnose the problem, unless they see it for themselves. this is very concerning to me as i am scared to drive, knowing that it could stall and i could get in an accident. i also drive for a ride sharing company, and it is too risky for me to pick up passengers knowing something could happen, and i would be responsible. this issue needs to be addressed right away as i know i am not the only one having this problem, which means there a a number of faulty cars on the road that can just stall out at any moment and cause fatal accidents. i am scared to drive this car! this has been an on-going issue that has gradually gotten worse, and thankfully i have managed to stay accident free. (i have attached other complaints)
My car is stalling after it is driven for 15-20 mins. once the car is turned off, if it is started within the next hour, it always stalls out. i see that ford fusion had a similar issue that was recalled. this is the note that i saw online for the ford focus recall, "ford is recalling nearly 1.3 million focus compact cars in the u.s. because a fuel system problem can cause the engines to stall without warning. the recall covers cars from 2012 through 2018 with 2-liter four-cylinder engines." i have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they keep diagnosing it as a bad fuel sensors that need to be replaced. well, i've replaced them already and the same problem keeps happening. i cannot afford to keep paying the dealer for something that i believe is an issue that they should be taking care of since their other vehicles were having the same issue.
Electronic throttle body. my ford fusion (2014) engine shuts off. the scenario is that after driving it on my commute (40 miles / 1 hour driving) and then stopping quickly to grab food, when i leave the parking lot it will shut down. i pull over and then start it back up and drive away. it has happened a few times.

When turning on the car and actually taking off driving the car will stop/ shut off all by itself and i have to restart it, while driving. the steering wheel will pull or jerk while driving. i have had my car looked at twice. changed the battery and still can't figure out why it does it.
While driving the check engine light came on. drove directly to dealer. after diagnoses they informed that it had a cracked block on #4 cylinder. quoted a complete motor change.
