Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Focus

My radio has very high static and i cannot use my phone system. my fuel gauge is not reading properly. my car just shuts off while i am driving it. when i pull off the engine stalls. these issues have been on going every since i owned the car. it is a complete lemon.

I had my transmission recall worked on and immediately after that my check engine light came on and every time after that anytime i get gas my car stalls and has issues starting. i have to sit and wait for 20 or 30 mins before my car will start. if i try to drive off i have to push down on the accelerator and shift into drive and if i stop the car will shut off.

I'm just having several issues with this car since i purchased it

The vehicle suddenly shut off while my daughter was driving on a highway and she was unable to restart it. the mechanic states that it is a malfunction involving the purge valve and fuel pump. due to this malfunction, the o2 sensor and fuel tank needs replaced and the pcm needs reprogrammed. the mechanic states this should be covered under recall 18s32 and 19s22 but ford is saying that my particular vehicle is not covered under this recall. why???

When driving car and come to a stop, it splitters when accelerating. when fuel gets lower than half of a tank, the car loses power, sputters and engine makes a grinding noise. this happens only when driving uphill or from stopped position.

Car stalled on 99 highway without any warning losing all power and unable to restart. towed to dealership and was informed tank was now deformed due to the vapor system lock of the cpv safety recall notice 18s32 technicians have sent pictures that they are in possession of and said they could not give us copies of but allowed us to see and showed us the technicians recommendations for tank to also be replaced along with the cpv . ford customer service centers have not returned phone calls after being informed of our concerns and state specs due not met there requirement so therefor are refusing to pay for tank to be replaced . although the specialist states different.

When i accelerate from a stop the car shutters/jerks. feels like strong tumble strips. also almost like wheels are locking and trying to grip. i have been scared at i intersections as with hesitation the car doesn't have much power. once it shifts (i have automatic) it's fine. doesn't happen every time either.

Recall 18v735 was issued almost a year ago. however, ford seems uninterested in correcting the issue. safecar.gov reports: "recall status: recall incomplete. remedy not yet available." i'm still waiting and waiting on a fix., driving a potentially dangerous vehicle in the meantime.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. the vehicle was able to restart. also, when the fuel tank was filled, the fuel gauge did not display the correct amount of fuel and the mileage was incorrect. the contact also stated that the shape of the fuel tank appeared unusual. furthermore, the contact stated that the vehicle did not immediately start when it was cranked. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the vehicle was taken to reynolds ford of okc (833-821-8065, located at 7320 nw expy, oklahoma city, ok 73132) where the software system was updated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and confirmed that the recall repair was to update the software system. the failure mileage was 117,402.

This focus has gave me nothing but problems . i've had it for almost 4 years in january. and it's left me stranded numerous times multiple trips to the delership lets not get started on how awful they are. i'm going to trade it in . never will i buy another ford !!

While driving on the highway the vehicle stopped running and lost all power without warning the vehicle could not be re-started. was able to get the vehicle towed and looked at by an independent repair shop since the ford dealerships were too busy to look at a vehicle that was 3 hours away from the home address. the cause of the issue was the evaporator vacuum canister. the failure of the canister also caused the fuel tank to deform and damaged the fuel pump/level sensor. the canister was replaced and the fuel tank popped out as much as possible, but the fuel level sensor is still reading incorrectly due to the deformed tank.

I have a 2013 ford focus se. i bought it used at 84k miles from a dealership in february of 2019. first time i got gas after buying the car it had trouble starting afterwards. had that fixed and it doesn't stall but the miles to empty reads incorrectly now. also started making a grinding sort of noise when i'm going up slight inclines. when i go from a stop light or stop sign it shudders during accelerating. i was getting onto the highway and had to stop on the entrance ramp due to road work and almost couldn't get enough power to get onto the interstate. currently this website is saying all of my recalls have been repaired.

1. the transmission jumped at intersection once. the transmission did not switch from park to drive once. the software was re-configured several times but it still not running smoothly at low speed. this issue happened since i bought the car in new. 2. the fuel tank indicator did not show correct fuel level. the engine light on. the car seems loosing power. had to bring the car to the dealer to re-configure the software.

We had transmission clutches replaced through recall. this did not fix problem. while driving, car will start flashing transmission error, hill assist error, breaking error , etc.. then the car will stall. we have taken it to dealer 3 times now. this has happened on busy city streets and highway.

I received a safety recall in dec. 18 for cpv valve and deformed gas tank. they said parts would be in by end of march 2019 as per letter from ford. i called ford today and they are apparently still working with their parts supplier and they have no date to correct this problem. this is a focus st and they say only fill up the gas tank halfway. why have a recall if they don't fix the problem? who is protecting the consumer? is there an actual time limit to get this done?

I just got the car from dealership with financing it, they didn't know notify me, that there was an unfixible recall!!! i am a single mom, it was my long way to getting a car, i want it be safe for me and my daughter, i don't, it won't even last 6 years, i am really upset!!!! please fix ingeen light pops on, hatchback opens, airbag is pff

Vehicle shudders when i try to accelerate slowly from a stop sign or making a turn on to a street. sometimes shudders when i am already moving but trying to speed up with traffic such as being on a highway. also when im low on gas before it reaches e it completely shuts down. no gas light or shuddering. i had champion ford in erie pa look into this but there was no code or anything to go by. im not sure what to do. it has been happening frquently now but everyone i talk to says its hard to determine without a code, but what if my control module is messed up or something? i have 5 kids i transport everyday and worried that this can cause an accident if somethings not done?

One day while filling car up.. i noticed a few drops of gas on the ground afterwards. today i wanted to add $8 to my gas tank. the moment i started pumping the gas started coming out. i tried a few times to continue but i kept coming out.

I'm at the tail end of a buyback for multiple recall issues that seem to be unfixable. they had also replaced a week engine mount that is failing now they had to replace a safety recall for gas fuel. all of which in the past downtown ford in sacramento did for free and now they are trying to charge me $1300 to fix the recalls and repairs that they had done without my knowledge. since it was ordered to them by you guys. and now they are saying at future ford of sacramento off of madison avenue that they will not fix it for free and that they are going to try and take it out of my settlement when theyare scam artists and are charging me way more than any part needs to be. and i'm also being lied to by ford wrap who told me they were going to pay for the parts and they were also going to put me in a rental. all of which was a lie. i have lost hundreds of dollars in wages i've had a ton of pain and suffering from having to be lied to over and over again and thinking i am being helped when in fact all they're doing is trying to take my money and put me in a unsafe car that could've killed me or my loved ones multiple times because of their negligence and they are not being held liable

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the failure recurred four times since the vehicle was purchased. the vehicle was taken to skalnek ford (941 s lapeer rd, orion charter township, mi 48362, (248) 693-6241) to be diagnosed, but the dealer failed to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, the contact stated that the engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 19v515000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a ford dealer. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that water was found inside the vehicle more than once after it rained. also, the clutch vibrated when the gears were shifted. the failure occurred every time after shifting out of first gear. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to star ford and lincoln (1101 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204, (818) 956-0977) where it was diagnosed that a new clutch and fuel tank were needed and the power train control module (pcm) needed reprogramming. the contact stated that the mechanics only installed a new fuel tank and reprogrammed the pcm. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was 59,763. *tt*jb

My fuel line and fuel neck went out on me i was driving and another person waived at me and said they saw sparks coming from the car i was in the middle of the road and then the call stop i was low on gas so i though i ran out of gas got gas and the gas ran through to the ground i had no warning it just happen i called my mechanic he was the one that told me about the fuel line and fuel neck he said that was very dangerous because the gas was running out i just thank god it did not blow up with me or my grand kids looks again i thank god my family has always been a ford family but i have has so many issues with this car im not a happy camper with my ford focus but i can't afford right now to get another vehicle i have a little over a year to pay this off i'm unside down and have to keep it but not happy about ford you guys have put out great cars what happen to the 2013 ford focus se

Ford dealer in melbourne, florida refuses to perform recall work. took the car in--it failed inspection. the manager refused to order parts or work on the vehicle and told me the mechanic was on vacation. i went back again to have the other recall items worked on, the manager said it was still a "no go," and i'd have to wait two months to get my unsafe car looked at...

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. also, the fuel gauge did not function properly and indicated that there was fuel in the vehicle when there really was none. the vehicle was taken to kistler ford sales inc. (5555 central ave, toledo, oh 43615), but they were unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the ford manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 125,000.

Studdering, shaking upon acceleration

Country ford stated that they fixed the issue. i called them the same day that the issue was still on going. they stated that it might have been the reset of the computer. i'm very concern the issue was not fix because the needed part wasn't available at the time. the car still stalls when it's at half a tank and completely stalls when it's at a quarter tank. this is not safe to be driving down highways or in a busy city. i am concern with with my health and life it suddenly shots off on a busy road.

Takata recall. on friday march 1 2019 as i was driving my air bag exploded. no damage to vehicle occurred.

2013 ford focus se. the dealership will not perform the recall.--my vehicle is subject to multiple items, according to the vin report. i don't know what to do...

I called washington ford in washington, pa on 1/17/2019 regarding a check engine light due to ford focus recall (purge valve). they scheduled an appointment for 1/30/2019 to fix the recall. took my car in on the eve of 1/29/2019 and dropped it off. they called me the following day to say they didnt have the part available. they instructed me to pick up my car and said they would call when part came in. i had an inspection scheduled for 2/7/2019 and they told me it would come in prior to my inspection. i never heard from them but called back a few times, telling them i had new codes coming up on my obd sensor (fixd) the car had been running rough, stalling out while idling/stopped.. they assured me it was safe to drive. they did not get part in by 2/7/2019 and i missed my inspection. two new codes came up on my car and i called angrily on 2/14/2019 to ask if they need me to take car to a different location, and they told me they were just about to call me to tell me parts came in.. we scheduled for 2/22/2019 to have recall fixed. they told me rental cars aren't covered under this recall when i explained the problems with scheduling so many appointments and having difficulty finding other transportation. on 2/17/2019 my car shut off while driving, on a major road (route 40). i was able to coast down a side street and pull into driveway at the bottom of the hill. had the dealership fixed the problem the day they originally scheduled me, i would have a working car. now, i'm afraid more damage has been done, as there are 7 total codes on my obd sensor(there were 3 when i first called about recall). the dealership should have never scheduled me when they didn't have the right part in stock, or a rental car should have been provided until they corrected the problem. i'm very unsatisfied with the customer service level at this location!

Takara recall my car is shifting weird the evap canister for fuel is clicking and my car is getting bad mpg my car clunks when going over bumps the front end clicks when you turn and feels like something might break i dont think the electrical system is working rite

Ford has issued a recall regarding the fuel tank deformation but they state that the car should not have any issue when it's above 1/2 of a tank. i have experiences the car stalling around 3/4 of a tank multiple times now. the car engine shuts off when i take my foot off the gas, the dashboard lights come on. i have to park the car and restart it. ford has not been able to fix the issue due to lack of parts since i took my car in on dec. 6th.

We received a recall notification for my vehicle in december 2018 from ford. we were told that as long as the gas tank is filled at 1/2 a tank, the vehicle is safe to drive. since we received the letter, my vehicle has stalled on the highway three separate times, each time resulting in the car having to be pushed to a safer location. it doesn't seem like anything is being done to fix the situation and it's becoming unsafe to drive. i wanted to file a complaint against ford motor company for not fixing this issue in a timely manner before it becomes a more serious issue with my husband being hit by another vehicle at 70+ mph on the highway.

My focus is under ford recall...it is experiencing stalling and loss of power and difficulty starting. ford says it will be fine if i keep a half tank of fuel in tank, but all the symptoms are happening with over half a tank of fuel. they will not provide a loaner/rental vehicle and the local dealer will not either. they both tell me the same thing about half a tank of fuel. but it is not safe to drive due to the stalling and loss of power. there is no parts available and they don't know when they will be available.

Ford has declared a recall in october of 2018. as of january 22 2019, nothing has been remedied.

Takata recall initially the car started shaking and making terrible noises. after parking it, the car would not go into reverse. it was towed to a "dealer" facility where they did some "repairs" on the transmission.....$600. the car was transferred to me and i have experienced a loss of forward power several times. after a short wait period it will start. i have been involved in an accident.....pulled onto the 4 lane one way highway and lost power....bam . the car also has the "shudder" issue while idling.. it feels like the engine will stall.

I bought the vehicle at 30,000 miles on it with a new transmission that ford had to replace due to the faulty original one the car came with. a year after buying the car off a ford dealership lot the transmission dies again at 70,000 miles. two transmissions needing replaced in this vehicle and ford won't pay to fix the transmission the second time. even after they discovered the cause of the transmission breaking down the second time due to a part missing. i've had the car a little over a year. ford is at fault and should pay to fix my car.

I received a recall notice in the mail due to the deformed fuel tank. the dealership and the recall notice i received in the mail confirmed that my fuel tank readings will be inaccurate due to this issue with the deformation. i brought my vehicle into the dealership to have this issue fixed and the dealership claimed to fix it according to ford's recall. they also said that i should not longer have inaccurate readings. today, the fuel reading are still inaccurate and i am concerned that my car may stall and issue is not actually resolved. the reading are still over 100 miles off. the dealership and ford refuse to evaluate the issue and/or fix the issue under the recall. the photo i provided below demonstrates how off the fuel is. prior to this photo, my tank was on empty. i added 5 gallons of gas or about 150 miles. a full tank is around 345 miles typically for my car base upon historical readings. in the photo, the electronic gauge says 215 miles left which is wrong and the other gauge reads that its almost full (~315miles) also wrong. the readings should say around 150 miles. both gauges are off and they also do not coincide.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 5 mph, the vehicle lost power and the check engine indicator illuminated. in addition, the steering wheel failed and was difficult to turn. also, the fuel gauge was inoperable. the vehicle was taken to jarrett scott ford of plant city (2000 e baker st, plant city, fl 33563 (877) 751-9729) to be diagnosed, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. the contact stated that the vehicle should be included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 102,000.

Stalling

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the vehicle was taken to bowen scarff ford-lincoln (located at 1157 central ave n, kent, wa 98032, (800) 577-1158), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 175,000.

My vehicle has died on me while driving down the road and after getting gas it does not want to start and will sputter and act like it is going to die, or die or it will be very hard to start. the car will just die at stop signs and is very dangerous. you can not tell if there is gas or not because the gauge does not work and will go to full even if you only put one dollar in and then at half a tank it will go back to showing full. i know it is low of gas and it will only hold five or ten dollars at a time no matter what i can not tell what amount is in the car and the solution i received from ford while waiting on parts is to keep it half a tank or more but that is impossible because i do not know how much gas is there. they have also told me they are busy and maybe awhile anyway and they cant give me a rental car. i have almost been ran over, been stranded and missed work because of this and now i have no way to go if they do get parts in to fix this. prior to this my transmission was causing my car to die and the door hinge is under recall and they car should be recalled totally. i dont trust them to fix it and these are lemons and they knew this and people have crashed because of this!! they are lying and should have to replace these cars. this is unfair , unethical and dangerous. you cant do this and risk so many lives. do something before people die please!!1 it has stopped on highway, parking lot and city road and rural road. it has happened many many times.

This regard the air purge valve recall for my focus st. have gone to the dealership several times and have been told that the part is not available and today i was told the software is not ready. this is hard to believe in view of how boeing has fixed the software for the 737 issue. there seems to be an indifference on fixing this and has cause issues is hesitation and almost stalling. i have managed to control this by manipulating the clutch which is probably not good. i am surprised that ford has not expedited the fix.

Well have had nothing but problems with this car, but here is the latest. i was driving and the car started making noises and then it sputted like going to die out, and get really rough driving. i parked the car got to work, and when leaving it would not start. battery is new, so not that. after about 4 tries it started up, this was wed. then friday, and on way home the engine light came on, as well as had issue starting. i just received this letter today, how odd and confirmed that there is a problem and not my imagination. i have grandchildren that i pick up from school and day care, and will not subject them to this unsafe car. also, last week the gas gauge just went to 50 and it binged to let me know, i drove to the gas station nearby, and i rolled in.. now see that gauge is also or could be wrong..i am bringing it in and hoping you put me in a rental until this is fixed!~
