New dealer maintained 2013 focus titanium focus 6 months old about 18000 miles had bad wheel bearing on the drivers side, at 46000 transmission was overhauled due to poor shifting,at120000 catalytic converter failed,at136000 car died due to bad wiring harness and fried several sensors, at 143000 transmission control module failed, at 144000 the transmission module failed again on a 3 year old car.
Transmission does not shift into gears as it should ,no power going up hill.sounds like motor going to fall out when you park.these happens several times and at different places
Drivers side door latch did not latch when i got in the car. i took my vehicle to santan ford in gilbert az. they charged me $618.37 to repair the car. i don't understand why this is not on a recall as other ford vehicles are being recalled. the car has 42k miles.
The automatic transmission slips when shifting gears, most noticeably the lower gears but it has happened with higher gears on occasion. the automatic transmission also "spudders" or "chugs" when acceleration is applied, and does not matter how aggressively or gently the acceleration is applied, it still struggles, sometimes hesitating, or sometimes "chugging," then usually slams violently into gear. these occurances are ongoing and are most prevalent when accelerating from a stop or from slow speeds.
I have heard there is a recall on the door latch on the back door. i have heard nothing from the company i bought the car from.
Transmission mounts and passenger side mount need to be replaced, car is jerking while driving especially when you hit the gas pedal to pick up a liitle more speed.
The clutch on the car is very jerky and delayed acceleration. seems as if the clutch is slipping when accelerating the car. i have taken the car into ford dealership and they said they replaced the clutch...but i'm still having the exact same problem with this "new" clutch.
The vehicle's clutch has been replaced twice it stutters/hesitates, makes grinding noises, etc. and still does since second repair, radio made popping, static skrecking sounds that got worse over time to the point of happening all the time and made radio useless, purge valve failed and could have destroyed gas tank and fuel pump if not dealt with which thankfully i did. these are all known issues with this vehicle thousands of similar complaints online.
Driving to work to the pentagon, went to accelerate and the vehicle slipped then stuttered before moving up a notch. the check engine light came on. i brought it into service. they let me know that this is a known issue and the vehicle needed to relearn my driving habits. they kept the vehicle for almost week. while driving to work and home on 10 days later the issue re-occurred. driving in dc on a highways is extremely hazardous and dangerous for all on the road. it was a good thing that i was by myself and not my whole family in the car.
This is the second time this issue has occurred. last october was the first. the engine light came on and the car rpm gauge raced but there was no acceleration. the car jerks hard. first time mechanic (don chalmers capitol ford) told me that these issues were normal, that all of these cars have shuttering issues, which to me was a frightening statement. they addressed a14m01 transmission clutch shudder and input shaft seal warrant (fsa). the total bill was $1,377.88. this time, i was told i would be responsible for any work and diagnostics. i stated that i experienced the same exact shuttering, shifting issues and noises as the first time and was told it could be anything. i am scared to drive this car.
Reneue to the defective powershift transmission i was almost in a wreck. i had to apply the brakes due to a tractor trailer coming in my.lane of traffic. when i applied the breaks suddenly, my transmission locked up and i could not safely move away from the tractor trailer. then when i tried to apply gas pedal, the transmission was still locked and the vehicle would not move. because i had to rapidly apply the brakes, my transmission locked up causing me to almost wreck. this is not the first time this has happened with my focus. please help m
The transmission on this vehicle has let go four times. one of those incidents occurred 24 hours after the most recent replacement (last week). the car fails to shift, slows down or stops while driving or rolls while the car is at a complete stop. the car also fails to reach speeds quickly and requires a lot of pressure and force to get the car even up to 30 miles an hour making it extremely difficult and dangerous while driving on highways, on-ramps and even going after stopping at a stop sign or stop light.
There is something wrong with the transmission of this vehicle, it jerks and sometimes acts like it is going to die, especially at lower speeds. i'm not sure as to what needs to be done with these, they just need to run more smoothly and not seem like they are going to break down-which is how i feel on a daily basis with this vehicle.
The dash unit will cease to work and all speakers in the car will unexpectedly emit an earsplitting, high frequency squeal. this sound is intermittent with a loud crackling and popping which cannot be stopped. this occurs while driving the vehicle, when the vehicle door is opened and the engine is not running, while the vehicle sits without any operation or ignition, or at any other time. the piercing sound has only stopped by removal of fuses in the passenger side fuse box. the entire dash unit will not function and thus does not alleviate the noise. this sound has been produced by the vehicle when not in motion, engine is not running, and car has been immobile for a long period of time. the abrupt, deafening sound is a safety issue which can cause an accident due to the drivers reaction.
Transmission causes car to consistently lurch, sputter, and stall when attempting to accelerate through the first three gears. it's annoying, but more importantly, it's dangerous on hills, in intersections, etc. i've been told it's not something i can "fix," as it is normal for focus models in my year. hard to believe.
I was trying to trade in my car and when i came outside to start it up it wouldn't do anything and the car was towed to the nearest dealership. in addition, i have always experienced idoling and jerking when taking off which seems like transmission problems because i have had experience with that issue. currently still have the same issues jerking and idoling when taking off. when my car experienced the electric problem was in 2015 and it had about 30 to 40,000 miles on it but the jerking and idoling have always occurred and i checked the recall before and they told me there wasn't a recall.
Car jerks when accelerating. after being stopped and stepping on the gas, car feels like it is going to stall out to the point when it begins to move again it jerks you back in the seat. makes a loud grinding noise under the hood. also, when turning the key to start the vehicle, it is hesitant to start. car shakes and does not drive at an even pace unless on the highway at or above 40 mph. been to the dealer numerous times about these problems, all to which they have no answers for.
Soon after the purchase of my vehicle i began to experience problems with the transmission. in the early years of owning my car i took it into ford for the recall repairs which did nothing to solve the issue with my car. after about 3 or 4 failed attempts to have my car properly fixed i stopped taking it in. so for the last 5 years i've been driving my vehicle with this transmission issue. there are times where my vehicle stalls completely and the steering wheel stiffens so i am unable to drive. they're have been times where i had to continually pull over and stop my vehicle completely, waiting a few minutes to restart my car so i would be able to drive. i know have a 2 year old son and feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe in this vehicle. at this moment i cannot afford to trade my vehicle in either and take the loss of all the money i put into this car.
Our car has one of the dps6 transmission automatic clutch systems. we purchased the car new in 2013 for approx. $26,000. we started having problems with the car at only about 10,000 miles. the car to date has 68,000 miles and has been in the shop for repairs over 20 times with 6 new clutches and several other adjustments. the safety issue is you never know when the car will stall and start to sputter and buck. sometimes it has no power and sometimes it shoots forward. one time in particular we pulled out into traffic and has to cross three lanes of traffic on a left turn. the car stalled and we were almost hit, it was so close that i started to cry and scream. this car is a nightmare. someone needs to look to see if anyone has died because of these cars. as a realtor, because of the lack of dependability, i had to buy another car and am now stuck with two car payments because this car is worthless i can't trade it in. please help. all of my life i drove ford and quite honestly i cannot imaging how callous ford is about the safety of these vehicles. peoples lives are in danger... please do something....
Vehicle bucked or shuddered when starting from a complete stop or if coasting and then gas applied. issue was said to be fixed at this time 4/30/14, which it did run better until it happened again on 9/6/14 when i pointed out the same issue. it was determined that there was a leak coming from the bell housing and it was dripping on the clutch causing the shuddering. on 9/16/14 it was taken to the garage for repair. i am still experiencing some shuddering, especially in reverse when going slow but also at times going forward. not satisfied that it is completely fixed, but ford has extended the warranty to 7 years/ 100,000 miles. i will be contacting the garage in the near future for them to look at it again. *tr
Purchased focus in march of 2013 soon after purchase vehicle began to lurch and hesitate while accelerating almost to the point vehicle would stall gets very scary when pulling into traffic with no power to accelerate. i immediately took vehicle back to dealership and they confirmed i needed a clutch that there was a seal leaking which caused the failure! they performed repair and not even a month later the problem occurred so i returned the vehicle again just to find out the other clutch they didn't replace had failed also. they again replaced clutch and i returned home. within 2 days of repair the vehicle started shuttering and when accelerating the vehicle wouldn't shift into any gear so i was stuck on the interstate going 40 mph in a 70 speed zone so i immediately pull over and call ford which tells me to bring it in on monday because there not open on saturday. i return vehicle to there disbelief that there is an issue because it has all the latest reflashes and clutches in vehicle but low and behold they inform me my transmission control module has failed and needs to be replaced. they replace tcm and send me home. yesterday probably 2 months after virtually every component has been replaced vehicle starts to shudder horrible probably the worst i've experienced to date so i take it to my dealership and they inform me i need another clutch!!! the vehicle has 48k miles on it i am sick of worrying about whether or not i can accelerate and merge into traffic without the vehicle getting rear ended because the clutches are slipping. something needs to be done. thank you *tr
Transmission/clutch problem. consistently grinds, lunges forward, sputters when taking off, turning & slowing down. it feels like the car is going to stall out. worst when it is hot outside. have been back to the dealer 3 times for the same problem! i have read the numerous complaints about this vehicle and it seems that i am not the only one that this problem is happening to . it all started 6 months after i bought the vehicle 4/2013.
On friday 2/14/2014 @ 1100, i was driving on interstate 5 south, when my car, without lifting foot from the gas pedal, suddenly lost power going from 65mph to 30 mph, in a matter of seconds. a low swoosh sound from motor occurred at same time. i had to exit the freeway at sea world drive exit from the far freeway lane, making for a very dangerous situation. i am very glad i was not rear-ended as i exited the freeway. after exiting the freeway and pulled to the shoulder and stopped the car. .after 5 minutes the engine went back to normal and ran like nothing had occurred. i took it to the mossy ford dealership the same day (service number r020298788). they kept it overnight. they could not replicate incident and told me they had no idea what had happened. they told me to wait until it happens again, and to bring it in again. this is an unacceptable response from ford dealership. on 2/25/2014, i took it into tune crafters to see if they could find out what was going on with my new car. they could not replicate the issue, but did note in writing the throttle is not as responsive on take-off acceleration, and there is a brief hesitation in the transmission shift and throttle. i am filing a formal complaint with ford motor company today. i do not feel safe driving my new car anymore. thank you, nellie downie
The vehicle has been very sluggish since day one of the lease. the transmission does not seem to engage accordingly. upon acceleration the vehicle hesitates and/or sputters, lurching forward and then hesitating again. i have had the vehicle in for service by an authorized ford dealer a few months ago but the problems still remain. i plan on taking the vehicle in again since it continues to display the same issues it has since the day we began our lease.
1st incident: wife was traveling at 65 miles per hour on route 30 bypass west in downing town when the car stalled and gave a warning to stop safely now. almost causing an accident my wife pulled off to the side of the road and started the car again then drove home with no issue. 2nd incident: today 9/11 my wife was pulling out of her driveway for work and the call stalled with the message to stop safely now. she re-started the car with no incident and continued to drive to work. *tr
I bought my vehicle in 2013, new from the local dealership. after owning the vehicle for a few days we noticed the shuddering on acceleration. immediately called the dealership and was told this was break in time. a few months into owning the vehicle, the transmission failed, we brought it into the local ford dealership again, and had the transmission flushed and work done to it. since then the vehicle has been to the shop four times for the same issue of the transmission and the electrical system flashing and shutting down. the vehicle will shudder upon acceleration. now no lights, brake lights, dash lights, will come on. the vehicle will run, but you have no idea how fast you are going, you have no turn signals, the 2013 ford focus is a time bomb. ford will offer us no solution except to bring it in and look at it. after bringing it in four times i do not feel comfortable bringing it back and having it not completely repaired and having to put more money into this vehicle when it is not going to be properly fixed. i am not sure how failing transmissions, and electrical issues are not considered safety issues and put on immediate recall but i must assume it is because i am not a mechanic, but stuck with a lemon that ford refuses to acknowledge there are issues with.
in 2/13, my husband and i purchased a '13 ford focus from brewster ford in ny. unfortunately, our car has never worked correctly. it randomly loses power. it feels like the gas pedal doesn't respond sometimes when we try to accelerate. our car is currently in their service center for the 4th attempt to repair the problem without any intervention. 3 of the master mechanics, scotty, carlisle, and anthony, say they have driven the car multiple times without repairing anything because they claim that they cannot recreate the problem. 5/28/13 the hesitation and nonresponsive acceleration increased and we brought our car to the service center and paid for an oil change. we were given the car back and told there was no problem found. 6/14/13 we brought the car back to the dealer for the same problem. there was an update for the computer and we thought it might be fixed. 12/9/13 we came back to the service center for the same problem, but this time the car shut off while my husband was driving on the nys thruway and this time the check engine light was on when i dropped it off. again the car was given back and we were told no problem found. they said that the check engine light was not on. it had been on for two days prior. 12/18/13 we brought our car back to the service center. after we called ford corporate for help, the service manager, danielle got involved. the gas mileage dropped at this time from 32-27 miles/gallon combined. our car was at brewster fords service center for over 30 days without being contacted once. when my husband called to check on the status, he was told they were waiting on a service engineer to come out. after speaking to angela, the regional manager from ford, we were told that the service center is unable to recreate the problem and we should again take our unsafe car. 1/23/14 today the regional manager agreed to approve a second opinion.
Soon after buying the car it started stalling when first accelerating leading to risk of the car stalling at intersections. the car will suddenly lurch forward and i have been very close to crashing several times. i have taken the car for service about 4 times and it works fine for about 3 days before starting again with the problem. recently (07/31/2015) the car would not turn on and when it did it would not accelerate at all in the middle of a busy city street. a shop at a ford dealership said it was the transmission module control which they replace but 2 days after i got my car back it did it again. it would not accelerate no matter how much i pressed the pedal and i was on i95! i am concerned for my safety and the safety of my baby while in this car.
Clutch fixed 3 separate times. needs repaired again. seatbelt will not latch for the second time. want to switch cars, not a ford. was told at herrington-yoak ford that they would find me a toyota rav4, honda crv or honda civic. never received a call, had to call them and was denied. *js
I purchased a 2013 ford focus se for my daughter back in 2012, and after a few months of driving the vehicle, she started experiencing some issues with the transmission/clutch. whenever she stops at a stop light and tries to accelerate at take off, she feels jerking, and hesitation when driving. we took the car back to the dealership and was informed there had been issues with the vehicles dual clutch that was redesigned on the car. the clutch was replaced and deemed okay to drive per dealer. we picked up her vehicle and everything appeared to be running smoothly, until a few months later she started having the same issues. this time the car started to jerk more often and was getting worse. we took the car back to the dealership, car was placed on computer and we were informed by the service advisor that no issues were found. we were then sent on our way and were told that this would be an ongoing issue with this vehicle due to the change in the new clutch design. my daughter has had her vehicle for a little over 2 years now, and we are still going through this problem. the engine light is now coming on while she is driving. this vehicle is unsafe and could cause someone to get seriously hurt while driving in traffic. something needs to be done to get these vehicles off the road, since the problem is not able to be corrected at our local dealerships. this is very frustrating and i feel deceived that this information was not provided at the time of purchase. i myself drive a ford and never have experienced anything like this before, but i think after my experience with her car, i wont be returning to a ford dealership anytime soon!!!
When you turn on the headlights or if you turn on the front windshield wipers, the instrument cluster gauges, get "very dim". when the head lights are turned to off, all of the gage lights get brighter. this makes it very difficult to drive and see the speedometer during the daytime. i would like to drive with my running lights "on" during our travels in the daytime. but the gauges get to dim to read in the daylight, so we travel with our running lights in the "off" position. our local ford dealer says that is the way they are designed at the present time. the local dealer does not have a "fix".... this is a safety issue for me and my wife. *tr
The same week i purchased my new ford focus, the transmission started to shudder upon acceleration but it wasnt every time i drove it. it would do it for a day or two then stop for several weeks or even months. then it started doing it every time i drove it.. i contacted ford, took it in and they told me they fixed it. it appeared to be fixed for a while then started doing the same thing again. once again, i took it back to ford, was told they were having transmission problems with that year and once again i was assured it was fixed. i have taken it back 4 or 5 times now for the same problem and each time have been told ford has found a new way to correct the problem. the last time i had it in was august,7,2015. i was told once again that there was a new fix for the problem and that it was fixed. within a couple of days it started shuddering again. its doing just like always . starts out just every now and then and then gets to be constant. i have noticed a different problem also. sometimes the transmission seems to want to keep going when i am trying to slow down or come to a stop it seems to stick. its very scary. i am actually concerned for my safety at this point.
