My 2018 f150, after towing a trailer for 2 hrs, dies when stopping at a light or in a parking lot. in the tow/haul mode the auto-stop-start should not engage, but the dash warning light says "shift to p, restart engine" auto stop-start has stopped engine. then engine does not start easy and suptters and dies several times. dealer told me no codes were recorded and problem could not be duplicated by driving around and stopping. this problem happened several times in a 2 day drive pulling my trailer.

I was completing a 3 hour drive of approximately 120 miles (i had less than 5 miles to go till i arrived at my destination) when my sensors started lighting up my message board and dash system. i was in the left turn lane to enter the on-ramp to us65 south when this happened so i pulled off to the shoulder to investigate. i had just put my truck in park when a car pulled up and said that my engine was on fire. when i got out to look, the fire was rolling out from under the drivers side wheel well. as well, there was either a fluid or melted plastic dripping down to the asphalt that was also on fire. the fire appeared to put itself out, for the most part, prior to the fire company arriving within the next 10 minutes. i had, what i believed to be at the time, recall work done by mike raisor ford in lafayette, in, less than 1 year ago. in that recall work, i thought the block heater was disconnected so as to prevent an engine fire such as this. now, i am having doubts as to whether this was ...

Throttle body failed 12/4/17 leading to engine power loss at highway speed. engine light and wrench warning display appeared. could not accelerate. was able to coast to shoulder safely. restarting the vehicle, it immediately went to limp mode. vehicle was towed to dealership (apple ford, shakopee mn). tb was replaced by dealership service center. on 1/22/2020, the vehicle again lost power on highway and warning lights came on. again, was able to coast to shoulder and exit the freeway in limp mode and get to nearby dealership (wold motors, jordan mn). determined that the throttle body again failed, was replaced. two failures with the same part in such a short period of time indicates a clear defect. vehicle losing power due to this equipment failure to a very unsafe situation and could cause an accident and risk.

Engine stalled while i was driving in a residential area. the auto/start was disabled at the time. i slowed down to let a car turn left into a driveway and went to accelerate and had zero power, engine was off. there was a message on the dashboard to shift into park and restart vehicle.

I drove my f-150 eccoboost truck to the snow, same area i have been hundreds of times and suddenly smoke burst from the engine, then flames shot out around the hood, popped the hood and fought the fire for half an hour, it kept restating. it stranded myself and children, and we had a harrowing experience that was pretty dicey. ford had just put in a new engine, at my cost, +14,000.00, after the timing chain failed. they would not repair it at their cost, even though i have copies of the fault codes from before the failure of the timing chain that destroyed the old engine. the new one had under 10,000 miles on the new engine, probably about 5,000 miles on it. we had driven on the relatively flat grade mainline road, and drove up about 0.8 miles, climbing maybe 400 ft elevation over that distance. i was in the process of turning the vehicle around when the engine burst into flames. it was on a gravel road. we had traveled from home, 35.2 miles.

The engine has repeatedly had cylinder misfires over the past 100,00 miles and 2 years. it's happened many times with different cylinders. replacing the coilpack resolves the issue but it returns after a few weeks. this appears to be the moisture problem with the turbo intercooler that already has several reports. this occurs when the vehicle is in motion and usually while accelerating. it happens most often during wet conditions. when this happens, there is a loss of power and the vehicle slows considerably. this is very dangerous in heavy traffic or when pulling into traffic.

Driving on a road and the truck abruptly shut off, displayed an error message on the screen showing "auto stop/start, put the vehicle in park and restart engine" ( i never use the auto stop/start feature) upon researching this error ( the dealership was of no help ) it appears this issue has been around since at least the 2018 f150 model. it's very concerning that this can happen while the vehicle is in motion and is a hugh safety issue as well as an accident waiting to happen.
