Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. while driving 25 mph, the passenger side sliding door opened without warning. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and attempted to close the door automatically by depressing the sliding door button; however, it failed to close the door. the contact had to close the door manually. the vehicle was taken to titusville chrysler jeep dodge (5600 u.s. 1, titusville, fl 32780, (321) 268-8970) where it was diagnosed that the motor switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 163,000. the vin was not available.
The automatic lock system on my 05 dodge grand caravan doesn't work, with the key fob or when pushing the automated lock buttons inside the vehicle. the car beeps like it is locking when you push the key fob. however, it really isn't locking. after doing some research, i have found that this is a common issue with the 2005 dodge caravan models. that being said, i contacted the dealership & was told that there has not been a recall, because this is "not considered a safety issue." how is this not a safety issue? dodge, themselves, actually calls part of the automated lock system a "safety feature." the system is supposed to automatically lock, once you reach a speed of 15 mph. well, this no longer works either. how is it called a "safety feature" when it works, but then it isn't a "safety issue" when it doesn't work? i physically cannot lock the passenger doors myself, when driving. i either have to remember to do it before i leave, make sure the person that gets out does it before they leave, pull over to lock them, or drive with them unlocked. that's not safe! i attend night school & am not comfortable leaving my car unlocked, but it is not as easy to get into my vehicle quickly now. i have to manually open the driver side door (only door that has a manual lock), reach in, unlock the side door, then open the side door, put my things in, lock the side door, close the door, and then get in the front. that is a lot of extra time in a dark parking lot! normally, i would just click the unlock & the open door button on the way to the van, put the stuff in, close the door & go. in addition, if you are a passenger, you have to stand there & wait to be let in. as mentioned, there is no key entry on that side of the vehicle at all. many times, i am left standing there (with my purse), as my husband walks around to the driver side & lets himself & the kid's in the vehicle. *tr
Went to the van and tried to lock the doors but the electronic door locks are not working. i been reading that the system needs a update. why does the company know that the update is needed but want to make money off of us for their errors. *tr
Door lock system has failed due to computer glitch. from what i have found on-line this problem has been happening for years and should be covered by a recall.
The automatic door locks failed. they do not lock at 18mph, they do not open or close by button or key fob. have discovered hundred of complaints about this issue. dealer data suggests flashing the bcm however not a permanent cure, dealers replacing other parts ie motors, actuators wiring, fraudulently to allegedly repair a known defect in software or the bcm themselves. this is a safety issues and a extreme inconvenience to disabled persons trying to reach door locks inside of vehicles as there are no key options except drivers door and hatch. hatch cannot be locked when this failure occurs. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the entire door latching system failed and the steering wheel emitted a loud whining noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer stated the door latches needed to be reprogrammed and the power steering fluid needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 124,000. updated 6/24/15*cn updated 10/12/2017*cn

Power door locks fail to operate either with switches or key fob on some of the doors. can't get into the vehicle on doors that don't have key holes. doors don't lock when leaving vehicle parked causing potential theft opportunity. *tr
The power door locks of my 2005 dodge grand caravan are not able to be opened using the door switch or the keyfob. the only way to open the doors is by manually pulling the lock. also, once the vehicle is driving the locks do not close at the 18 mph mark as stated in the operating manual. i feel this is a safety issue for myself and my children and would hoe that dodge values its customers enough to see it as that too. after searching online for a possible cause or cure i stumbled upon a tsb (08-040-04) issues regarding this issue. a simple tsb is not enough to resolve this issue. customers should not be charged to repair a known problem with a dodge vehicle. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. after exiting the vehicle, the contact attempted to lock the doors and the locks failed to engage. the contact had to remove the i.o.d fuse from the fuse box and reset the computer in order for the locks to engage. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000. the vin was unavailable.
Doors lock themselves and door lock switch fails to function intermittently. *tr
My vans locks don't work anymore on the remote on by pushing the button but if i charge the battery even if its not dead it'll work for a couple days i feel this should be fixed for safety. *tr
Electric operation of locks quit and has not resumed. neither keys remote feature works to lock or unlock the van, although they both cause the lights to flash as usual. lock switches on driver and front passenger doors also do not work. manual locking via the old fashioned buttons works ok, as do key locks on rear hatch and driver's door. *tr
Power door locks stop working. does not lock at 20mph. *tr
Door locks stopped working, no one fuse to change for it, different forums says to unhook battery cable and fuses to restore power to door locks, this worked for about 3 days, door locks are not working again. over it!!!! *tr
The power door locks for the driver, passenger and two side slider doors on my van stopped working. the inside door toggle switch does not work at all. the key fob locking system does not work to lock these 4 doors. the key fob lock mechanism will lock the rear door hatch only. i have the car at the dealer today for repairs. from internet searches, it appears that the company has to do a flash update on the bcm, they are aware of this problem. *tr
The 05 grand caravan that i have has the lock issue the buttons inside nor the key fob will unlock or lock the vehicle. so if i were in a emergency situation and i need to lock or unlock my doors i would not be able to in time therefore i think this is a huge safety issue. my father in law is having the same issue with his 05 town and country. *tr

The power door locks on this 2005 dodge grand caravan just stopped working. key fob sounds horn when locking, but locks do not engage. very dangerous for travel as locks do not engage when vehicle reaches 18 mph. *tr
Doors won't lock with fob have to lock them each by hand also automatic locking of all doors at app. 20 miles an hour does not work either . i read about pulling 20 amp fuse out then putting it back in it worked . it lasted about 2 weeks then happened again, did the same thing with the fuse it worked again for about 3 weeks then stopped working again, pulled fuse and put back in it worked again for about 2 weeks. *tr

Power locks failed, they did not work with the key buttons or by pushing the lock button on the door. i took the iod fuse out and put it back in and it is working for now. *tr
Power door locks stopped working completely from both interior switches and key fob. will not lock or unlock any of the 5 doors from interior. manually able to lock and unlock doors individually. unable to lock back hatch with key or from inside vehicle. safety problem with 1 and 3 year old that need to have doors locked while vehicle is in motion. also unsafe for young children to be standing outside vehicle while unlocking driver's door with key then manually d/s rear door. children are unnecessarily standing outside vehicle while doors are manually unlocked. *tr
Our door locks stopped working with both the unlock button and the remote key. we cannot unlock our doors unless we do it manually, and there is now no way to lock the back hatch. there is only one key hole and this is a major safety issue. *tr

Power door locks are not working. unable to lock or unlock doors with either key remote or button located on the door. this is a concern because the locks do not engage when vehicle is in mode of travel. this first started in august of 2012 with the passenger sliding door and now both sliding door locks are inoperable as well as the trunk hatch. have tried changing fuses without success. i researched information online and found a site that indicated that a bcm software update could fix the problem but dealerships charge for the update. should there be a fee involved when this mechanism is secondary to a software issue that creates a safety hazard? because safety issues are at hand should this be listed as safety recall? *tr
Driver side sliding door will not lock/unlock with key remote or interior control. the vehicle is equipped with the feature that locks all the doors when the vehicle reaches 20mph. the door will not lock with this feature either. *tr
The power door locks stopped working by the cabin switch and the remote. i consider this a safety hazard. chrysler has a program update for this problem but charges to have it installed. i understand this update was released in 2004. *tr

During routine stop, noticed that the door locks would not work. this wasn't a concern at first until i noticed that the doors would not lock when the vehicle was in motion as well. i feel this is a huge safety issue that daimler chrysler is ignoring and leaving families with the burden of repairing this expensive issue. this is a safety issue and nothing else that dodge should fix for its loyal customers. *tr
Power locks have to be reset by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery every few days. since this apparently is a widespread problem, why hasn't there been a manufacturer recall to fix this defect? *tr
Key operated electronic door locks ceased to function. can reset by removing iod fuse, but problem seems to come back in a few days or few weeks time..is a huge convience problem manually unlocking passenger doors by reaching to back seat and when you want to load some groceries into rear hatch.. also could be safety issue, especially for someone with disabilities....based on the number of complaints i see, if this can be solved with the dealer reprogramming the computer, this should be a definite safety defect and done at no cost to the owner.. *tr

Power door locks fail. *tr
The automatic locks on the vehicle repeatedly fail. for a while pulling the fuse connect with this system helped and they would work for a period of 1-7 days, now nothing works. dodge doesn't seem to have a solution or to want to work on a solution. *tr

Our power locks quit working. we have tried getting a new battery which worked for a whole day then they stopped working again. we have tried replacing the fuse and it worked for a day and then it stopped working again. there needs to be a recall out for the locks. the locks do not work on either the remote or in the vehicle itself. the only locks that work is for the trunk but besides that none of the doors work. *tr
