About one week ago i got back from buying groceries, and when i parked, got out and was going close the door, i heard the warning sound. the same sound that rings when you leave your keys in the ignition or the headlights on, but i had the keys in my hand and the lights were all off. from then on the power locks will not unlock or lock by either the remote or the door switch. i read online that removing the iod fuse for 5 seconds and replacing it would work, and it did, but many on the online forum also said this was temporary and that it would happen again. i'm sure thousands of people have complained, please make this a recall. :( *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan power locks do not work with the key fob or the interior door control. *tr
Power door locks failure, dealer can not resolve issue. *tr
Door locks on 2005 dodge grand caravan quit working, have spoke w/many on internet and it's a common problem. there is a tsb about this but dodge will not repair without charging $100-$250.00 your door locks are controlled by the body control module (bcm). the bcm monitors the current draw on the lock and unlock circuits, and when it goes across a threshold it will disable the locks to preserve itself from damage. if a circuit was shorted to ground and the bcm kept trying to drive the locks it would damage itself. the original bcm software on the 2005 vans was a little sensitive to this, and over time when the lock solenoids in each door start to naturally use a little more current, the bcm can set a fault code and disable the locks a little prematurely. the bcm software was revised to make it more fault tolerant to stop this from happening prematurely. the fix is to reprogram the bcm software. this is done with a dealer scan tool, and takes about a half hour of labor to perform. *tr

2005 dodge grand caravan sxt, drivers side automatic sliding door does not work.or lock. *tr
Power door locks will not lock or unlock. *tr
Power door locks won't work with the key fob or the door switch. no possible way to secure the rear hatch. there is no manual way to lock the rear hatch. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan-locked van prior to going to dinner . noted it did not lock all the doors. had to go in and manually lock all doors. not sure how to lock the trunk. when we came out could not unlock doors had to go to only keyed lock and then send my son in to unlock the rest. went to internet and found researched problem. found i am not alone. pulled fuse and reinstalled. this works for a short period of time before it has to be done again. no warning when it will happen. wife is not big on doing this and i can't blame her. car alarm sounds like alarm is set but unless you visually check you can't be sure. aka van has been left unlocked when we thought it was ? in addition to a huge pain in the but this is a real safety issue when on tight streets with small kids(we have 5) .unlocking the van and resetting the fuse or fumbling around to unlock the doors is not right. *tr
My 2005 dodge grand caravan has 70000 miles on it. last week i found out that the power door locks do not work. by doing an online search it seams like a large number of dodge grand caravan owners are experiencing this issue. i feel like this is a safety issue because it is not easy to lock/unlock doors specially when you have young children. *tr
Power door locks spontaneously quit working on 2005 dodge grand caravan. googled to get info and this site showed there are many complaints about this problem: http://www.carcomplaints.com/dodge/caravan/2005/electrical/power_door_locks_quit_working.shtml. i am going to try some of the suggestions such as pulling a certain fuse...this should be a consumer replacement by dodge. this is a real safety problem. *tr
I have a 2005 dodge grand caravan, the locks quit working, it use to auto lock ounce you hit 20 mph and now it doesn't so the doors can be opened at any speed any time, as well as you can not unlock the doors unless you unlock the only lock on the exterior which is the on drivers side so my 3 and 4 year old have to wait on the curb while i go around to unlock the driver door then climb in to unlock their doors so that they can get in, the whole time im praying they don't go out into the street. i researched the problem and found out it is very common in this vehicle but dodge wont fix the issue.*tr
2005 dodge grand caravan power door lock failure. will not lock or unlock with inside power lock button or key fob. have disconnected battery cable and locks work again for anywhere from 1 day to 3 weeks. has happened aprox 25 times since the first incident in oct 2009. has somewhere around 55,000 miles on it. having three preschool age children and only one exterior key hole makes this a difficult and dangerous situation in a crowded parking lot. *tr
I have had the situation where all doors will not lock or unlock on my 2005 dodge grand caravan. i looked on this forum, http://autoforum.classifieds1000.com/dodge-grand_caravan/power_locks_will_not_lock_or_unlock, there are many people who have had the same problem. i did pull the iod fuse as stated in the forum and it worked for now. many people say it is only a temporary fix. is there any recalls or fixes that you know about. *tr
Automatic door locks not working. *tr
I'm writing to request that an investigation is conducted into the failure of the automatic door locks of the 2005 dodge caravan. please review the following website for multiple incident reports of the same issue: http://www.carcomplaints.com/dodge/grand_caravan/2005/electrical/electric_door_lock_failure.shtml i have owned a 2005 dodge caravan for 3 years now. the problem is that the power door locks stop functioning completely on the vehicle. the fact that there is only 1 keyhole on the vehicle on the driver side door makes for loading and unloading children from the vehicle very difficult. the driver side door needs to be unlocked and the driver needs to reach throughout the vehicle to pull up the lock knobs to open the other doors. i'm hoping that the outcome of the investigation is that dodge will be required to repair the problem without any cost to the many dodge customers that this problem has affected. *tr
My automatic locks on my 2005 dodge grand carven have stopped working. they do not work from the automatic lock switches inside the car, nor door they work from my keychain. the trunk door seems to functionally work without problems but every other door doesn't lock! this is a huge safety issue with my 3 small children! *tr
No event leading up to failure. power locks stopped working except for the back. *tr
Passenger power sliding door will unlatch but not open when closed, when door is open it will close partially but will not latch. *tr
Electric door locks repeatedly stop working. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan - pwr locks stopped working. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan door locks no longer work using the remote or the buttons inside the van. not sure what is causing the issue. vehicle has 56,000 miles and has been well maintained. the locks do not engage when the vehicle is in motion, which it normally would do. i see this as a safety issue. only two of five doors have keyed locks which can be manually locked/unlocked with the key, but when you have children and a stroller, crawling through the vehicle while children are unattended creates another safety concern in my mind. i believe the remaining dodge dealerships should fix this defect at no charge to dissatisfied owners who are experiencing this problem. *tr
I own a 2005 dodge grand caravan. at approximately 50,000 miles, the electric door locks quit working. when you use the key fob or lock switch, the actuator makes a sound but the locks (on all doors) will not lock/unlock. this is apparently a common issue on this year of caravan and there is no known fix. creates a safety issue when my children are riding in the car and the doors are unlocked and/or when we can't get into the car as only the drivers door can be unlocked using the key. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan sxt. rear passenger side automatic door lock does not automatically lock or unlock. *tr
My caravan has had numerous electrical problems and is now sitting in my driveway unable to be driven or to sell. power window and door failure, gauges jumping, radio disconnecting itself, lights turning on and off when no one is in the car, and finally the end result is total power failure (sometimes in the middle of an intersection). scared for my life and the life of my children i have stopped driving it. i have spent 1600.00 at the dodge dealership only to finally be told they can no longer help me. i have talked to chrysler directly and they stopped calling me back. there is clearly thousands of complaints about similar problems. i am sick over the junk pile i can't remove or replace in this economy. when will chrysler be held accountable? *tr
Power door locks quit working at least 3 times a year. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan intermittent electrical issues with dash lights and door locks door locks will not lock, door locks cycle up and down while vehicle is being driven, rear passenger doors will not open with remote or unlock with remote or buttons inside of vehicle. *tr
Regarding 2005 dodge caravan door lock problem the door locks quit working on this vehicle after 44,000 miles. in researching the problem, apparently many other people have the same problem with this vehicle. this is a safety hazard & the nhtsa should immediately require a recall for this problem before somebody gets killed. apparently the nhtsb has previously been advised of this problem & done nothing to demand a recall. why the delay??? *tr
Electric door locks stopped working. they wont lock by remote or on the door button. *tr
The power door locks, on my 2005 dodge caravan have quit working. i found out that it is a problem with the onboard computer and as yet chrysler will do nothing about it. we have small grand children that could possibly open the doors while the van is moving, which makes it a danger factor. we have tried to fix the problem by pulling a fuse or disconnecting the battery cable but it only works for a short while and it happens again. *tr
I own a 2005 dodge grand caravan. i noticed last summer that every once in a while the automatic locks and doors would stop working. we researched this online and found that if you popped one of the fuses out and then put it back in, that it would fix the problem. this worked for a while. however, now the only way that the automatic locks work is if every single time before starting the ignition, you pop the hood, take out the fuse and then replace will the automatic locks work. and this only lasts as long as the van has been running; as soon as you turn it off, the automatic locks stop working. this is a safety issue; if i am in a bad area, i need to have my locks working. with small children in the car, i need to know that my locks are working. even for leaving small things in the vehicle, the locks need to be working. *tr
The power door locks cease to work. when the car reaches 20mph the doors do not lock. the problem can be remedied by pulling the fuse and then replacing, but that is a huge hassle. it happens every 3 weeks or so. *tr
Dodge caravan power door locks fail to operate unless manually operated causing concern for safety of family due to unable to be absolute that the doors are secured at anytime. this safety concern has been noted by chrysler and will fix at a cost to consumer. this being a problem with a large percentage of this vehicle i feel that it should be recalled voluntary, but chrysler has failed to act. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the automatic door locks were inoperable on both front and rear doors. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed the contact that a software update was available to correct the failure but would be at the expense of the owner. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.
My 2005 dodge grand caravan's power locks stopped working today,8/05/09. looking on the internet for some answers to the problem i see i'm not the only one experiencing this problem. temporary solutions abound but nothing from chrysler is posted nor have i received any recall notice. my van was purchased new on 03/06/06 and has only 50,000 miles on it. dealers want to charge me hundreds of dollars attempting to rectify the situation. i don't believe i should be charged. chrysler should recall all vehicles with the problem and fix them no/charge. *tr
All power locks on 2005 dodge grand caravan stop functioning preventing opening of doors from outside of car when locks are in this condition. only one manual keyed entry (drivers side front). *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the electrical power door locks are inoperative. the contact has to manually lock and unlock the doors. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and a technician reset the system at an expense of $85.00. the repair did not remedy the failure. the vehicle identification number and the mileages were unknown.
My power door locks stopped working from inside the vehicle and with the remote. i took it to the dealer and the solution was to reprogram the body control module. searching this site and through google shows that this seems to be a popular problem. now i also have to replace the driver side sliding door power lock actuator because it also stopped working! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the vehicle was unable to be locked from the inside or outside. the dealer was aware of the issue but did not provide any assistance. the contact did not inform the manufacturer and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the current mileage was 65,000 and the failure mileage was 44,000. the vin was unavailable.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that all of the door locks suddenly stopped functioning on 02/17/2010. he noticed the problem earlier in 2009 but replaced a fuse which seemed to remedy the failure. he had not taken the vehicle to the dealership and had not spoken with the manufacturer to-date. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was approximately 56,200. the failure mileage was 54,000.
Dodge grand caravan 2005 has failure of auto door locks. the auto door locks don't work from within the van or from the remote. this is a safety issue because my vehicle is not secure. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan, driver side sliding door locks don't work using the key fob or the electric switch. nor does the automatic open work using the key fob or electric switch. *tr
The power locks do not work for the driver and all passenger doors. they will not work with either the remote or the interior lock switch or after driving the vehicle over the reset lock mph of 20. this issue started approximately june 2009 and continues. disconnecting the battery and reconnected after several hours will get the locks to work again but only for the time being. the power locks may stop working again within a couple of hours or days . the dealer stated that a software update at approximately $90 but may not be a permanent fix. the safety issue here (a key hole is only provided on the driver's side door meaning people need to stand in the street or parking lots while driver opens his door and then climbs through the interior to pull up the buttons for others to enter as well as lock not locking when vehicle is in motion) a recall is needed to be issued for this power lock problem. this is a safety issue that the manufacturer obviously knows about. *tr
The automatic door locks on my 2005 dodge grand caravan sxt will stop working with no notice. i have found by searching on the internet that pulling the fuse and replacing it will solve the problem for a few days, but it happens again within days. this is a real safety problem for my wife as this is her car and she travels with our 3 children in the car. since the vehicle is only able to be unlocked manually on the driver's side door only, it would make it very hard for her to get into the vehicle quickly if there was a problem with one of our kids. it seems dodge has no solution to this problem. *tr
2005 dodge grand caravan door locks stop working. *tr
Dodge grand caravan '05 all door locks fail to operate. not aware of cause or events leading up to problem. located website with over 100 entries of customers stating same problem. dodge refuses to admit there is a problem or safety issue. removed and re-inserted oid fuse to temporarily correct problem for a few hours. then locks fail to operate again. this is a safety issue & dodge should be required to correct it. on the discussion forum hundreds have had the same problem and dealers do not have a solution either. this is a safety issue because this failure allows doors to be opened by children. if this is not addressed there will be law suites due to injuries to those falling out of vans. *tr
I used the key fob to unlock my car and drove to work. my doors are supposed to lock when i reach 19 mph. this did not happen. my doors will no longer lock by any means other than manual locking. the power locks no longer work. this is a minivan and drive with my children in the car. this is the second occurrence. we needed to pull the iod fuse and replace it. after searching around this seems to be a very common problem with the 2005 dodge grand caravan. *tr
Power door locks don't work with switch or remote like all the other complaints for the 2005 caravans. what the others don't include is that the only way to open the rear hatch is electronically and it is also disabled when the power locks don't work. if for some reason this was the only way to get a child out there would be no chance to rescue them other that breaking out the glass. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that all of the power doors failed to lock. the dealer reprogrammed the door lock control module, to no avail. he then replaced the wiring harness in an attempt to correct the failure. after the repairs, the contact noticed that the air bag warning light sporadically illuminated on the warning panel. the dealer advised her that there were no related recalls. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.
The power locks on my 2005 dodge grand caravan have stopped working. to me that is a safety hazard, i have a little girl and like to have the doors locked while driving, and if i have anything in my car i don't want it to get stolen. i looked on the internet and found that alot of the same year vans are having the same problem. there is a software out there to fix the problem which means someone out there knew there was a problem. *tr
