I was driving along the freeway and the car just automatically went into limp mode. i change the oil i flush everything then when i went on to the kelly book blue book to try to sell it as saying that it had a bunch of recalls welcome to find out chrysler saying it doesn't so i don't know what's going on with my car and neither do mechanics.
Takata recall.- i am approximately 2 years old with the light from the driver's airbag turned on all the time. i had it reviewed and i was informed that it is a defect in the bag and that it will not be opened in the event of an incident. two years have passed and no revision is called for replacement. with the shift lever i was sent by chrysler a notice to carry out a revision, i did it and today after 2 years being in a street stopped and trying to make the change to drive i could never move it i just got stuck and could not drive more. how many more times will i have to call to do something about it? because i had to pay my composure and chrysler refused to reimburse me for that money arguing that my car is no longer guaranteed !!!!!
Upon acceleration to enter highway vehicle continued to accelerate as tho the throttle was to the floor. almost rear ended car in front of me. had to apply brakes and turn on caution lights and pull over. engine seemed as tho it was going to blow up. very scary. upon further inspection it seems as tho dodge/chrysler rushed production of the intake components to get cars to show room in all 08 with these intakes. chrysler later fixed the problem in all future vehicles. problem lies in cheap components in the runner flap assembly on the intake manifold. problem throws code p2008 and code p2017. flap sticks open and increases horsepower without intent of driver. chrysler knows about this problem because they fuxed it in future cars. i am sure all of these cars have this faulty component and therefore; depending on how and where it fails it can be extremely dangerous.
When i bought the vehicle the check engine light was on. i asked the dealer and he said he was just sitting for awhile when i drove away it was off then 2 weeks later came back on. when i took it to eurozone they told me it was the heads need replaced that's 2900.00. i looked to see if this part was recalled and if it had been replaced on my vehicle i am unable to see where if at all this has been addressed by the dodge makers??? i love my vehicle i just want it to run like its suppose to also my tire light is on and have replaced all tires and still will not go off even after being reset. also my car has an antifreeze smell like the car is hot but never shows that in the temp gauge it's getting hot at all. please someone give me some info on what i can do to fix these problems???? now the new light is my brake light illuminates when i am driving then shuts itself off.

I've already had to replace the power control module (pcm) once just a year and a half ago, and now i have to replace it again and my car has been out of commission and sitting at a mechanic's repair shop for almost 2 months now after fixing other things first before finally determining it was the pcm again. car will not rev above 2.0 rpm and is in "limp mode" with the service engine light along with the lightning bolt symbol present on the dashboard.
Tire pressure monitoring system indicator light came on. every since i have been having various problem with this car. such as engine rough idling/stalling, transmission issues, tire pressure monitor don't work, engine won't start/dead battery. just a lot of unusual problems. i be driving the vehicle city or highway. don't matter whether i am driving straight or turning. this vehicle will stall in the middle of the road. yet stall right back up. all started after the tire pressure monitoring light came on. i believe it has something to do with the tire monitor system. i have been taken chances, hoping that it will go away like it started. my repair service can't fine the problem and said to check for recalls. these unsafe conditions have been going on for a while. help needed

We have been having a lot of problems with our car lately. first problem we had was with our alarm system. the alarm has gone off on us both when the car is off and when the car is on. the horn starts and won't go off until after about 5 minutes no matter what we do. we have try turning it of with our key alarm, turning the car on and off, unlocking the doors but nothing seems to work. yesterday we were driving our car and the car stall and we were lucking to be able to pull to the side safetly since we were coming to a stop. after a couple attempts, we got the car back on and running. i have search this problem and i found that it could be the tpms. as to what we have experience with the car lately, we are almost sure it is this. we contacted the dealership and we were told that this recall was perform back in april of 2008 and are not responsible for anything the car is going through now and will not replace the part for us again. can you please let me know if the dealership is required to switch this part for us again since our car is not safe to drive or if we would have to solve this problem.

Powertrain control module for dodge avenger on backorder due to faulty system - part not available from chrysler dealerships because of huge influx of requests for this part - requesting that this be considered as a recall situation
Got home, put car in park & let go of the brake. noticed i was rolling backwards so i quickly pushed on the brake. looked on my dash & it indicated the car was in reverse, so i pushed on the gear shifter to make sure it was pushed all the way up, which it was. i then turned the car off & tried to turn it back on. the car then wouldn't start 7 the gears would not change. looked online, seen there was a common issue with the pink plastic piece connected to the gear. pushed the pink plastic piece in & it allowed me to switch gears when it was held in but i am still unable to crank my car & even when the gears are switched the dashboard says the car is still in reverse. looked up recalls & sure enough there is a recall but of course when i entered my car information it doesn't apply to my car. i also have replaced the alternator 4 times in 3 years. i was told that it is a poor design that causes the alternator to wear down & lock up so quickly. i will ever buy another chrystler dodge vehicle in my life. this car has by far been the worst investment of my life. i really hope something happens to get these cars off of the road forever before they end up killing someone due to the highly poor design of everything in them!
I parked my car in the garage, the shifter was clearly in park, then i got out of my car and went into the house to make dinner, and my wifes doctors office called with a subscription, i hit the garage door opener and it would not open, and it started flashing, the car rolled into it on its own, i got into the car and tried to start it with the gear-shift in park and it would not, looked in the heads-up display and it showed it was in neutral and the car was rolling freely. if this would have happened in a public parking lot this situation could have been very serious.
I started the car to leave work, check engine light came on. as i was driving i lost the ability to accelerate above 40mph. while driving 30mph the rpm were at 4,000. i took the car to my mechanic. map sensor was replace and also transmission selinoid. check engine light was still on, they went through all trouble shooting. pcm needs to be replaced. according to dodge dealership the part is on back order with no eta on shipping. was also told there are over 200 orders waiting to be filled, people are waiting 4 months to receive the part. my car has been in the shop now for almost 3 weeks. the dealership my mechanic called didn't inform them of the back order, we were told by another dealership when trying to find the part elsewhere.

We have experienced a drop in rpm's in wet weather, mainly at lower speeds during a deceleration mode that felt like the vehicle would die. a slow response to a panicked foot was always what happened. this began at approx. 25,000-30,000 miles. never while in the dealer repair shop. while driving our 2008 avenger, there was a rapid deceleration that occurred accompanied by the etc light coming on and flashing. i applied gas and nothing happened, then a split second later, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, etc light went out. i slowly accelerated to 55 mph and noticed that the rpms were higher than usual (3200) for the speed and also felt a hiccup or cutting out feel. i thought that i had lost 4th gear? my husband and i are seasoned auto service advisors & are very much in tune with our vehicles. along with the aforementioned issues, now at freeway speeds, rpm's will drop; while the engine feels as if it will cut off & etc light comes on, then goes out. i have done extensive research & found on this nhtsa website, approx. 90% of complaints for like vehicles to be exact or similar to what we are experiencing. i stopped looking after 5 pages.(95% of 1st 5 pages are filled with like concerns). i will be contacting the chrysler corporation as well. why an official recall has not been announced, befuddles me. i hope this obvious safety issue does not get ignored any longer. 110,000 is on the vehicle odometer now. the mileage we have on our vehicle is a similar common denominator that is easily seen on the other etc related complaints for 2008 avengers. *note-stop light sw. & accelerator position sensor have been replaced per recommendation of chrysler technician. this made no difference. (except in our bank account). *tr

The car would not shift out of park. it was stuck. the tow truck driver took the shifter apart, a pink piece of plastic flew off, then it worked, so no tow. i had to wait til monday to bring it to the dealer, and was sure k16 recall, from 6/2011 was the problem. but was told it was not a recall, or covered under my warranty. $292.33. i've seen hundreds of complaints on-line for the same thing. some were considered a recall, most were not. *tr
I got into my car to leave and the gear shift would not come out of park. i tried several times and it was just stuck. my daughter went online and found that this had been a recall issue an i have never received any type of notification at all. my son found a work around on the internet that allowed me to get to work, however this is a issue that needs to be fixed. *tr

On 3/11/13, i reported to dodge case # [xxx] that when driving on wet / damp roads the car will stall out for no reason. this has happend to me while stopped at a light, slowing down going through a toll or even while turning in an intersection. i have felt it to start to stall while driving at 65 and have hit the gas to stop the problem. i phoned dodge who told me ... sorry there are no recalls. i then phoned my local dodge service department who immediately told me that yes they have had this problem in the past, the suggested is a sensor on the throttle or throttle body. the cost for repair is around $750. i happened to see there was another complaint on your site regarding this. because i feel as though this is a very serious danger hazard, i filed a complaint with the department of transportation # [xxx]who suggested i contact you. i think this is a very large concern and something that needs to be addressed immediately. i will be paying the money to get my vehicle fixed out of concern for my own and others safety. i drive the interstate everyday to work 65 - 75 mph and have to drive either in the right or left lane in case my car stalls. i was lucky that when my call stalled while trying to pull away from a red light i was not rear ended. i am hopeful you will see the sense of urgency and push dodge to do a recall. i do not think this should be the consumers espense. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
While driving along freeway at 55 mph throttle light illuminated and engine was non reactive to gas pedal. after a few moment systems went away, but the starting the next day after that the engine was slow to respond to sccelerator and would hesitate and jump to accelerations. vehicle was taken to shop where throttle body and fuel system was cleaned. it worked fine till april 22, 2013 when vehicle was being driven the throttle light came back on and there was no acceleration at all to the car. car towed to garage where the throttle body had to be replaced to due failure. the milage was 130,153 and cost over $800. *tr

It will constantly over heat, even with full anti-freeze in it. it will get to the h in less then 1 min. the transmission light will then come on followed by the lighting bold in the parentheses. all of a sudden it started having a very loud noise (like a diesel truck) and wouldn't let me go over 25 miles without it getting louder. then i went to turn left to pull over and all the lights came on, went off the heat went from h to c and car steering wheel locked up and car died.. i wouldn't not turn over till 30 mins later.. started having the loud diesel noise and to 3-4 weeks later (today).. still over heats today and still leaks anti-freeze (drains the whole thing in 30 mins). i heard there was a re-call for the 08 avenger in 2012.. i got my car dec 2012 and the dealership still sold it.. when i found out there used to be a re-call i tried to call dealership to find out they went out of business the next week after i bought it. sucks cause im stuck with a broken car and $11k still to pay. *tr
I have had multiple problems with my throttle body and losing power in my car. all my attempts to fix it have failed. now my car will only get up to about ten mph. with the lighting bolt flashing on my dash board. i have talked to mechanics at a dodge dealership and the say they haven't heard of this problem and that is a flat out lie. they just keep trying to fix this and that and it does not work. this part needs to be recalled before someone is killed and dodge trying to cover up what hundreds have complained about is not fair to us as consumers spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket and there is only temporary fixes. *tr
Leaving home to go to work, started car and noticed lightning bolt indicator light on. shut car off and restarted - light not there. put car in gear and noticed shaking and low idling. attempted to accelerate and was only able to reach a speed of 15 mph. pulled to side of road and shut car off. restarted - no light but still not acceleration past 15mph and car still idling slowly and shaking. pulled back into driveway and left it there. with all the other similar complaints something needs to be done about this. *tr
