We have classified the 162 complaints from 2006 Chrysler 300C about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
2006 chrysler 300c. consumer writes in regard to vehicle stalling and malfunctioning pcm module. *as *tr
2006 chrysler 300c - after fueling up got about 1/2mile down the road engine just cut out (not electrical as i didn't loose dash lights) just like the engine stopped for a few seconds and came back on. thought it was a fluke and kept going and it happened again twice, turned around and took the car home happened a couple more times while trying to get home. haven't driven the car since and that was 5 days ago. *tr
2006 chrysler 300c. consumer writes in regards to repair reimbursement.* ld the consumer received a letter from chrysler stating they were extending the fuel tank warranty period because some of the affected vehicle population may experienced a condition where the fuel shut-off float in the multi-function control valve sticks which may result in the vehicle stalling after re-fueling. the consumer stated he experienced the stalling issue, as stated in the letter. *jb
Over the last couple months after refueling my vehicle the vehicle stalls. it has become a given that after i fill my car i know at some point within the first 5-10 minutes i will start having propulsion issues. the car dies when i'm sitting at traffic lights. i'm afraid to try and enter a freeway directly after refueling because if i go to hit the gas it's an accident waiting to happen. i have to go find a parking lot and rev my engine for a while till i think it's safe to proceed. i should have to go through all of this after refueling my car. i did some research and saw the complaints and nhtsa reports. i called chrysler and they said they don't have any records of any fuel issues with the srt models so my best bet would be to go to my dealer for a diagnostic check. *tr
Purchased a 2006 300c srt8 in 2014. this is the 2nd time that this has happened. after the 1st refueling the car stalled and bucked and then after a few miles calmed down. i thought perhaps it was bad gas. during the 2nd refueling, with 93 octane, and just as the fuel clicked off, the engine stalled. no check engine light in either situation. the car was worse than the last time. the car stalled at each light all the way home. this happened approximately 4 times and then it stalled again as i parked it in my driveway. i called the local dealer concerning this and they said they are only ordering 6 replacement gas tanks a month and that 95% of the time an additional flex pipe or tube breaks during the repair procedure and that i would be responsible for this additional cost. what kind of a deal is that? i thought warranty work was to be at no cost to the consumer. *tr
My 2006 chrysler 300c is burning a lot of gas. i don't know why, maybe because it is a hemi. when my gas hand get to a mark are two before empty, you can smell the fuel from the tank. my complain is why are chrysler 300 burning so much gas? *tr
This is not the first time this has happened. it started occurring 12000 miles ago. today was the last straw. after filling my tank over this past year, i've learned that i can only fill my tank to 3/4 full to avoid the stalling and sputtering. this means i have to have my ignition turned on so that i can watch when the fuel gets to 3/4. this alone is a safety hazard as it could spark. today i filled it to 3/4 forever it shut off at the pump just before it got to 3/4... when i started the car the full indicator was full. i knew this meant i would have a scary ride home. it stalled leaving the gas station and two more times while waiting at the first light. i made it about a mile and was making a right turn and it cut out at about 35. i was making the turn with no power and almost hit a pole. i put on my emergency flashers and was almost rear ended. please explain why only selected vin numbers were selected against pe13-016. looking online there are multiple complaints and i did not see any owners who's vins were covered. where is a copy of this list and how many vins were on this list? chrysler needs to take a stand and own up to recalling all vins for this model make and year. i've never heard of a selected recall. i am documenting this safety concern everywhere i can as i am scared for my life and hope someone takes this seriously and quit blaming the owners of overfilling the tanks. this should not be a concern and it isn't with other models an make. own up chrsyler! *tr
Car stalled after refueling. runs sluggish. *tr
I had just filled up the tank and pulled across the street and into a parking lot. as i was pulling into a parking spot the car died. i was able to get it restarted after about three attempts. after leaving the store i drove home and it died on me at the end on the parking lot as i was pulling into traffic. it died once more as i was driving through a residential area at approx. 25 mph. after i got it home, i allowed it to idle in the driveway for about 5 minutes with no problem. after eating dinner i took it for a drive and it happened again at an intersection. it died and took about five attempts to get it restarted. *tr updated 10/1/2014 *js
On april 9th at approximately 6:00 p.m. i filled my car with fuel until the pump shut off. after replacing the fuel lid i drove about 1/4 mile and stopped at a traffic light to make a left turn. almost as soon as i stopped the engine started to run rough, as if it were running out of fuel and stopped. i placed the car in neutral, started the engine and drove another block before stopping at another traffic signal. again, the engine sputtered and stopped. i got it started and reached park manor nursing home and shut the engine off while i went to visit. when i left the nursing home, i went down the driveway and about 1/8 mile to a 5 lane intersection that had a traffic signal. the engine sputtered and stopped again just as the light turned green. i had to quickly put the car in neutral to restart it then carefully let off the gas pedal enough to put the gear shift back in "d" and drive away. this was the first time i experienced any engine stops, but it seems to be pretty dangerous, since you cannot predict when it will happen and nothing seemed to trigger the faults. each time the engine stopped, i noticed the oil pressure indicator was displayed and watched it rise to normal when the engine started again. *tr
After fill up engine shut off five times in traffic. *tr
Vehicle stalls after fill up at gas stations. has happened at least 10 times in last 2 years. called chrysler in reference to nhtsa action number pe13016. despite their claim in the nhtsa action that owner letters mailing began in january 2014, i was told that as of april 2, 2014, the life time warranty has not yet been made official and no letters have yet been sent. as of april 2, 2014, chrysler is not honoring the claim they made to cause the nhtsa to close this case. follow up by nhtsa is needed here. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph, the engine stalled without prior warning. the vehicle restarted then the failure recurred. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated two weeks after the first failure. the vehicle was diagnosed by an authorized dealer who replaced the faulty vacuum canister and fuel tank. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 51,069. updated 6/27/14*cn
While trying to merge on the freeway the motor stalled and made a rolling drumming not a high pitch noise wouldn't re start towed it home got it started and the engine is making a loud squeak noise it won't idle on its own and it stalls when put into gear. *tr
My chrysler 300c hemi started idling rough and showing code p0300. oil/plugs were changed, and my car worked well for ~500 miles. after which the low oil level light chimmed. after taking to the dealer the oil pressure switch was replaced and all was right. close to a month later, while stopped at a rail crossing the car stalled with error code p1520. i checked the oil which was low and added to the correct level. in the oil, there was no discoloration or anything to cause alarm. i started the engine up and while the p1520 was gone i had the p0300. after removing the manifold small aluminum pieces where found inside. plugs that were close to 4k miles old were ash covered and throttle body. valves and cylinder #3 head need to be replaced. *tr
Immediately after refuling car, departed gas station and car stalled completely when in middle of left hand turn into oncoming traffic. placed car in neutral and restarted it. departed and stopped at a stop sign 100 yards away from turn. car died again. placed car in neutral and restarted it. it ran slowly for 50 yards or so and died again while slowing down in traffic. restarted the car in traffic and it ran fine for 1/4 mile when it died completely again at a stop light. again, i restarted the car and was able to keep it going without stopping for 3-4 miles. have not had the problem since turning off the engine overnight. *tr
In may 2013, the nhtsa began an investigation (pe13-016) into numerous complaints about engine stalling in 2006 chrysler vehicles equipped with 5.7l 8-cylinder engines. in february 2014, chrysler announced that it had developed improved parts to address this problem, and would extend the warranty period on 19-gallon fuel tanks to lifetime coverage for the 153,817 affected vehicles. in february 2014 the nhtsa accepted this solution proposed by chrysler and closed the investigation.chrysler sent me an email on march 13,2014 informing me, without explanation, that they would not honor their agreement with the nhtsa, and would not provide a lifetime warranty for my 2006 chrysler 300c fuel tank. *tr
After filling the car up with fuel the car stalled and had to be restarted after stopping at a traffic lights. it also sputtered and wanted to quit running at approximately 55 mph. the car was taken to lustine chrysler, dodge, jeep, and ram ltd. in woodbridge. we were told the fuel tank and carbon canister needs replaced because some flapper is bad allowing fuel to enter the canister on fill-ups. *tr
Stalling 2-3 times after filling tank up. then will drive fine. called chrysler said there was no extended warranty to fix problem. *tr
After filling gas tank. engine stalled and cut-off. *tr
Re: pe-13-016 covering 2006 chrysler 300c vehicles with 5.7 l hemi engines that may stall after refueling i spoke today by phone with "[xxx]", a supervisor with chrysler customer assistance (1-800-992-1997 and 1-905-440-7694). he told me that contrary to the announcement in odi resume (pe13-016), chrysler did not begin mailing letters in january 2014 to the 153,817 owners of affected vehicles extending the warranty period on 19-gallon fuel tanks to lifetime coverage, he told me that the mailing (inot-pe130016-58863.pdf) would in fact begin in april 2014. owners of the 153,817 affected vehicles should look to receive this letter in april 2014. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Re: extending warranty on 19-gallon fuel tank to life-time coverage for 2006 chrysler 300c vehicles equipped with 5.7l 8-cylinder hemi engines that may stall after refueling.(see pe13-016). allpar.com reported today that chrysler spokesman [xxx] confirmed that the lifetime warranties for the affected vehicles "will be in place in mid-april". looks like chrysler is finally honoring its agreement reported by nhtsa (pe13-016) in february 2014. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Immediately after refueling, my car stalled three times on my drive home, each time when i was traveling about 5 mph approaching a stop sign. since then, i have driven about 200 miles and have had no stalling problem. i took my car to a local chrysler dealer and they could find no computer code error, and told me that i needed a new fuel tank, chrysler received more than 1200 complaints about the 19-gallon fuel tank on 2006 chrysler 300c, a problem where the fuel shut-off valve sticks, causing the vehicle to stall after refueling. in response to these complaints, chrysler agreed to extend the warranty period to lifetime coverage. i called chrysler customer service today. they refused to honor the extended warranty for my 19-gallon fuel tank as they agreed to in their letter -pe1016-58863.pdf.
Exactly like the situations described in the nhtsa investigation (pe13-016), my 2006 chrysler 300c 5.7l engine has stalled at low speeds on numerous occasions after refueling. my local dealer's service department informed me that my vin is not included in the ??select?? vehicles that have been given extended warranties by chrysler group llc in response to pe13-016. in order to correct the problem with my vehicle, the entire gas tank needs to be replaced. i contacted chrysler customer service and they also informed me that there is no extended warranty on the fuel tank of my vehicle because it was manufactured in a different plant than the vehicles identified with pe13-016. clearly there is an malfunction with the multifunction control valve (mfcv) fuel shutoff float at more than one manufacturing location. although the nhtsa investigation determined that it is not a safety issue, the last time i refueled and pulled onto the street, the engine stalled and i was nearly involved in an accident. it stalled 2 more times during the same incident before it would drive more than a short distance. it is just a matter of time before there is an injury or fatality due to this malfunction. the car is not drivable if i am unable to refuel and drive without the risk of injury to myself or others. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated, while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. additionally, the vehicle would sporadically stall after being refueled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure was recurring. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure . the failure and current mileage was 34,000. *tr
After refilling my gas tank to full, my engine stalls forcing me to pull over and restart my engine. this occurs only after refilling my gas tank and last for about the first 10 miles or so. another key point is that it only happens at low rpm usually while i'm decelerating between 5~10mph. i see that these symptoms have been reported by many people. it appears chrysler has an extended warranty, but when i've called the (800#) and visited my local service department they have no understanding of chryslers acknowledgment. is this a true extended warranty? why was this investigation closed? *tr
After filling the vehicle with gas, the vehicle stalls while idling. while driving down the road the car jerks severely and then turns off while driving down the road. there was an investigation that was closed on february 10, 2014, and chrysler is suppose to be offering lifetime extended warranty related to this issues. however, i have not been successful in having chrysler assist me in making sure my vehicle is safe to drive down the road. the vehicle stalling occurred twice while driving until i started to research it. *tr
Filled up the car with gas drove down the road then the engine died did it twice to me. *tr
Vehicle will stall while driving or surge while trying to stop without notice for up to thirty minutes or approximately 20 miles after normal fuel up (no topping off!). i suddenly surged while approaching another vehicle from behind at a stop light and my vehicle nearly caused a collision. while driving on a two-lane curved road the vehicle stalled causing loss of steering and near collision with on-coming traffic and had to stop quickly which caused a road hazard for other vehicles coming around a tight turn behind me. once restarted, i continued on same road and vehicle died again in a turn on same road causing the steering to go out again which lead to veering off the road and with the potential of falling down a 30 foot un-guarded decline. vehicle will stall and surge while in idle as well. i have been able to replicate this issue reliably on three separate occasions. i welcome any skeptics from chrysler or other investigative authorities to contact me so that i may demonstrate the severity of this issue if necessary. this is dangerous!!! *tr
After filling up the gas tank, the engine will stall several times. when idling at a light or stop sign and sometimes when traveling at low rpms. this engine has stalled when entering the parkway nearly being rear ended. this has occurred for the past two months several times, only when i fill up the gas tank. *tr
I have had this car for 7 years, never had an issue. on february 23,2014 i went to shell and filled up the car with $49.00. i do not remember if i ever filled the car up before. i'm sure i have but i usually put 20/30 bucks in. but i just found out about stop n shop gas savings and received a discount. i tried to put 50 in but it only took 49.00. i got back in the car and i tried to pull away from the pump and it shut down. i thought maybe it was a fluke since i was basically at a roll. i drove 2 blocks and at the traffic light it died. i proceeded to make a u-turn to return home. the car died 3 times in a 5 block span. i took the car to my cousin who had a computer, no codes came up but the car shut down twice. i parked the car and took out a different car. my cousin thought it was bad gas or a bad oil change which i had done on feb 22, 2014 i just returned home and googled, "chrysler 300c stalling" and found the article that this has been occurring, and here i am. i guess i will contact chrysler in the morning. *tr
My 2006 chrysler 300 stalls after i fill it with gas. this happened to me a number of times. i now longer can fill my gas tank. this is a dangerous problem as the car stalls while i am driving it. it stalled on me on the fwy. luckily for me, there was heavy traffic and i was going 35 mph. i have been told i need a new gas tank which would cost me over 1000 dollars. there is a los angeles time article dated may 14,2013 which indicates nearly 200,000 complaints regarding 2006 300c, dodge charger and dodge magnum of having this problem. chrysler needs to do a recall on these vehicles. updated 03/12/14
After fueling vehicle, vehicle stalls and takes a minute to restart. this complaint is entered multiple times under pe13-016 and chrysler isn't meeting its obligations. *tr
Engine stalls several times while driving, shortly after refueling. *tr
Engine stalled soon after filling gas tank. has happened the last two times the tank was filled. *tr
On multiple occasions, my wife and i have experienced the symptoms specified in nhtsa action number pe13016. our mechanic has confirmed this also. however, action pe103016 leads us to believe chrysler will fix this problem. we have contacted two chrysler dealers' service dept's and have been told they have no 'recalls' listed for my car's vin. how do i go about getting chrysler to meet the agreement stated in pe13016? *tr
After refueling at local gas station drove 5 miles. stopped at light where vehicle stalled suddenly. vehicle restarted after 3 attempts with ignition key. *tr
Stopped on the way home to fill up my gas tank. when the nozzle shut off, i removed the nozzle. i heard a gurgling sound in the tank which was unusual. i began driving out of the gas station through the adjacent parking lot and the engine died within 150 feet of driving. i restarted the engine and upon it died again within 15 feet. re-started a third time and it stalled out and would not stay running. had the car towed to local repair shop and upon doing diagnostic tests found that the roll over valve in the fuel tank was bad which caused fuel to get into the evap vent hose which caused the engine to flood and stall out. solution is to replace the tank which is on back order til jan 30th (9 days from now). they are expecting in 130 tanks at the warehouse which is suggesting this issue is becoming more common. *tr
Vehicle stalls several times after filling up the gas tank, mostly while idling. and, it is difficult to re-start after stalling. engine also runs "rougher" after fill-up. problem has gotten worse over the past few months. took 300c to local mechanic who says there is a problem with the gas tank overflow valve. solution is to replace gas tank or never completely fill it up. it seems that with all of these similar safety complaints, chrysler should find an alternative fix. *tr
I was exiting a highway via an off ramp. when i came to a stop at the intersection the engine stalled out. after several attempts the engine restarted and the car drove normally. i had filled up the gas tank at prior to this incident. *tr
After fueling my vehicle i drove about 300 feet away from the gas station, and my car completely stalled out without restarting for about 5 minutes. after getting the car to restart i drove for another 5 miles and the car stalled out again. after the second stall i let the car sit on the side of the road for about 10 minutes and turned it back on and drove away. this is not the first time i have experienced this issue, it has happened 2 other times before. i fear that if this keeps happening with no resolution from chrysler people may have to report something worse than just the car stalling. *tr
Car stalled after fuel fill up went 100 feet stalled entering the roadway (route 17s). very dangerous. *tr
Engine stalls at slow speed and at idle also miss fires at speed after refueling gas tank. it continues until a gal. or so of fuel is consumed . *tr
After re-fueling vehicle, car stalled at 5 intersections. vehicle would not always go back into gear after restarting until several attempts were made. after burning off a few gallons of fuel on the highway, the vehicle no longer stalled/mis-fired. tank was not "topped-off" when filled, it was filled until the pump stopped automatically.
After re-fueling vehicle, car stalled at 5 intersections. vehicle was difficult to restart. vehicle would not always go back into gear after restarting until several attempts were made. after burning off a few gallons of fuel on the highway, the vehicle no longer stalled/misfired. tank was not "topped-off" when filled, it was filled until the pump stopped automatically. stalling occurs every time vehicle is filled to full. *tr
Experienced several occurrences of engine stalling after filling tank with gas. engine died when stopped at a stop light and also while driving at about 10 miles per hour. *tr
After refueling the car it will begin to run, and idle, rough to the point that it stalls. this happens every time the car is refueled. most of the time it dies while idling, but has died while driving several times. the issue is worse if the car is refueled from the point that the low fuel light is on. it will die several times when refueled from this low level in the tank. the car has died while leaving a red light and getting as far as the intersection and having to try to restart it while in the middle of the intersection. *tr
After refueling, i was driving north in i-35 at 65 mph and the engine completely died in the middle of heavy traffic. fortunately, i know a bit about cars and got it to restart before i dropped below 50 mph. however, there were heavy trucks in the dense traffic and had one been directly behind me i do not think i would be here to write this complaint today. i have delayed this complaint as i did not know the nature of my problem until yesterday. after the third fill up and the same problem happened, i figured it out and went to the dealer for a fix. they told me the problem and said there was no recall and that the cure was to replace the gas tank. i have an appointment for next tuesday to get this work done as i feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive in traffic. *tr
Drove approximately 3 miles to work, while pulling into parking spot car stalled and oil light on left came on! car would not restart. tried to start it again later and it did, and no issue since. *tr
I have a 2006 chrysler 300c 5.7 hemi. have owned car for over a year and never overfilled gas tank and never had this problem before. i got a full tank of gas, then started car and pulled away, a block later the car died. this happened 7 times over the next 2 miles to get car home. car stalled, rpm's down, starting jerking. i kept it in neutral to keep it from dying. went home and googled problem - seems to be either 3 things - fuel vapor canister (located above right rear tire), fuel vapor canister purge valve (located in engine compartment), or rollover/check valve (located in fuel tank). took car to firestone next day and they said that vapor canister and purge valve are working and it was be the component in the tank. said it will cost $1,500 for new tank. i said no way, i'll wait till there is a recall on this, which there [xxx] well better be. if this car stalled on expressway, i would have been screwed. there is a fast fix instead of replacing anything - either fuel tank only 3/4 full, or leave gas cap off after fueling, so that no pressure is in tank and vapor is burned off through filler neck, instead of through engine. i feel like calling chrysler dealership tomorrow and seeing what they say. this can't be tolerated. the vapor canister is an emissions thing that takes fuel vapor and burns it though engine, but if it malfunctions, it will suck up fuel and flood engine. so hopefully the more people that comment on here, the more chance there will be a recall so that i don't have to fork over $1,500 for a defective manufacturing issue, that the dealer needs to fix for free. *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
