We have classified the 162 complaints from 2006 Chrysler 300C about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
Engine stalled for first time less than 2 miles after fill up at 25 mph on city street. immediately loss power assist of both steering and brakes. car weights 4040 lbs and i had a difficult time pulling into a parking lot and getting the car stopped. car was immediately restarted. no future problems until nearly every refill when it stalls within first few seconds or 2 miles. car now has 79550 miles. my wife drives this most frequently but i always fill the gas tank. i told her when it stalls, steer straight, put car in neural, restart, and hope you do not have to stop quickly. in nhtsa action number pe13016 chrysler's [xxx] letter aug 9, 2013 last page 17 states "if a stall after refuel conditions occurs, the vehicle has functioning steering and brake systems". true but with out power assist on steering and brakes car is very difficult to control. most women and small men would have difficulty safely stopping car. chrysler concludes this issue poses and minor risk to vehicle safety. i am a retired mechanical engineer and worked 40 years with power trains and strongly disagree. in this review vehicles 5, 6, and 7 all had problems with swollen refueling floats allowing the floats to stick and not function properly. all three cars were 2006 300c with 5.7 liter hemi engines the same as mine.. on a11.page 15, chrysler acknowledges the vent valves was changed for my 2007. this appears to acknowledge a poor or faulty design in my 2006. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
My vehicle will stall out on me intermittently. it mostly happens right after i get finished putting gas in my car. unlike most other stories i've read about overfilling the gas tank, this happens to me sometimes when i put just a half of a tank of gas in my car. now, as of nov. 7, 2013, it's done it well over 100 times; that's since the first time it happened in may. the dealership is a complete scam. they know this is a defect. they've charged me to fix everything from egr valves to pcms to spark plugs. nothing has worked.then finally i decide to do some deep research, that's when i decided to file my complaint. there are 2 major issues i have. when at highway speeds, i'll lose all power and throttle response for a split second, then it'll kick back in. it's extremely dangerous, to say the least. the more frequent problem, is the car completely cutting off while either at idle, or traveling at a lower speed. both situations happen almost always directly after i put gas in my car. this happens so much that it is becoming unbearable. sometime it starts back up, and sometimes i have to wait a minute or two. it's ridiculous. i don't mind paying to have my car serviced. however, diagnose the problem, know that's the problem, and let's get it fixed. don't run me through $3,000 worth of repairs, knowing that you've got countless others with the same model and model year, coming in around the same time, complaining about the same problem. you know what it is. that's no coincidence. and quite frankly, it's fraudulent. i've got my 5 year old son riding in the back seat. what happens the next time my car stalls out on the highway and loses power, with another car tailgating me? what if it's a tractor trailer next time? will they have enough time to brake or plow into the back of me? more unnecessary stress and worry for the loyal consumer. thanks chrysler. *tr
After re-fueling, the vehicle experiences multiple stall conditions while on the road. this condition has occurred multiple times and can occur both while driving and while stopped at a light. i've noticed that this more frequently occurs when you fill up the tank to the point that the auto shut off on the gas nozzle is tripped. the car gives no warning that its about to experience an issue until the car completely shuts off, most likely while you're already on the road. right now the only way to combat this problem is to not fill up the car more than 3/4 of the tank. this method keeps the driver guessing as to how much gas should be pumped, and causes more frequent fill ups as you're not using 1/4 of the gas tank capacity. this is a very dangerous condition, and its one that should be communicated to all 300c owners immediately. *tr
Engine stalled and stopped working as coming out of gas station after filling up. steering went hard and brakes did not work, warning light (lube oil can) came up. turned ignition off and on again, engine started but kept stalling. jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph , the engine continued to stall during deceleration or when stopped for the next 3 miles. stalling occurs within minutes after refueling and will stall 2-3 times in a 5 minute period. the vehicle performs correctly once you get past this stage. multiple occurrences - all after filling tank. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled after it was refueled. the failure was experienced numerous times. the contact was able coast on the road shoulder and restart the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the fuel tank. the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage 25,000 and approximate current mileage was 26,000. updated 9/4/13 *cn
After filling my gas tank, at 1/2 a tank, i pulled away from the pump and the car stalled. after restarting i continued on my way. every time i slowed down for traffic, or a stop sign, or traffic light, the car stalled. this happened 6-8 times on my way home where the car was parked until the next day. after starting, the engine "spitted, and spurted" on acceleration. it then smoothed out, and ran fine, until this latest incident. also, the last time the car was fueled, it would not accept gas, the hose kept shutting off. tried another pump, same result, went to another gas station, same result. *tr
Every time after refueling the vehicle to a full tank of fuel vehicle stalls and sometimes several tries before it restarts. once the fuel tank level goes down about a gallon, the problem stops. this always occurs after refueling to a full tank of fuel. if i fill to about 3/4 tank the car can stall but not always. the only known fix to work all the time is a new gas tank for $1500 to install. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that whenever she added fuel to the vehicle it failed to start. the contact was driving 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated and stalled. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing and they were unable to determine the cause of failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000. the current mileage was 60,000.
Vehicle stalled while turning into a parking lot within 3 miles after refueling (full tank). fortunately, no other vehicles were ahead of me, and i was able to safely coast into a parking space straight ahead. as described by other owners, i lost all power "everything" steering, etc. vehicle restarted after a brief period, and i was able to drive home. took the vehicle to the dealership for repairs. dealership immediately suspected the trouble was related to a full fuel tank and failing vapor vent valve in the fuel tank. i'm paraphrasing here but as i understood it, liquid fuel was breaching the vent valve when typically only vapors are vented. remedy: replace the fuel tank. an expensive solution for what is seemingly a defect experienced by many owners. the fuel tank had to be special ordered, and once the part arrived, i was to bring the vehicle back with as little fuel as possible in the tank. on more than one occasion, i couldn't time the return to the dealership with my appointment so i had to refuel the vehicle. i purposely did not fill the fuel tank to full, and consequently, did not experience any subsequent stalling until i could return the vehicle for servicing. *tr
After refueling vehicle its stalls out will restart sometimes others it won't. chrysler will not pay for new fuel tank cost is $1200.00. *tr
Vehicles sputters, stalls and dies after filing fuel tank. chrysler entered into an extended warranty program to resolve your inquiry pe13-016. chrysler agreed as a result of that inquiry to extend a lifetime fuel -tank warranty on the 153,817 effected cars. chrysler will not honor that warranty agreement on my vehicle.. what can be done to encourage chrysler to honor the warranty and replace my fuel tank and faulty float valve per the agreement they entered with you? previously i was referred to the federal trade commission who indicates this is not a issue they can provide me assistance. who enforces the agreements nhtsa has made with chrysler? my vehicle is dangerous due to the faulty float valve and no one in the federal government wants to take ownership to help. *tr
Stalls after i fill up and jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph and hesitates when driving 30 and over if i don't drive around drive around in a parking lot for apx 10 min it will stop in traffic and possibly causing a rear end collision. *tr
Started stalling after fill up's apx 1 year ago. i do not drive it alot. apx 55000 miles on it. first thought was due to changing octane but been using for 4 months . stalls, bucks, surges. cleared up after apx 5 to 10 min. *tr
Car stalls after refueling. it will stall whether idling or driving. takes 4 or so tries to restart vehicle. happens almost every time. i do not overfill or fill when car is running. brought car to dealer who could not recreate problem and computer diagnostics showed no issues. i called chrysler directly and they claim they have never heard of this problem and cannot help unless dealer can recreate. the only problem is that it only happens after filling up, which the dealer did 1 time and of course it didn't happen. *tr
When i filled the fuel tank the car would stall leaving the service station. then it started when i was driving slow over rough pavement or speed bumps. at these times i did not realize the car had stalled until i saw the oil light on. the dealership could find nothing wrong with the car but suggested that the oil pressure switch be changed. the problem stilled persisted so i had the car tuned up. problem still continued and so i stopped buying a particular brand of gas because while leaving the station which is on the incline the car stalled and a bunch of lights came on and one indicated a problem with the gas. i have had the fuel injectors cleaned and stopped topping of the tank but the problem has not gone away. i have to drive two major highways for doctor appointments and cannot afford to have this car stall like this in major traffic. the car will be going along smoothly and then it starts lurching like i am trying to accelerate and brake at the same time. this presents a dangerous situation. the car goes in tomorrow to be checked again.i had driven 25 miles since the last fill and the car acted so erratic that i an afraid to drive it because you can't control where it is going when it stalls (no brakes or power steering. *tr
Car continued to stall after gas fill up. car needed to be towed to dealer. deal wanted $1700 to replace the gas tank. untimately cost me about $1200 and the dealer paid $540 to get the problem fixed. *tr
I bought my car new in march 2006 and i am the only owner/driver. i do like my car and will buy another chrysler 300c. when the car was new i had several stalling issues where the car would stall at low speeds or while sitting at a traffic light. i do not recall if it was after refueling. i took the car to the dealer and no "codes" were found and the dealer could not replicate the problem. the car than ran perfectly for six years with no stalling issues. all maintenance has been performed including new spark plugs as recommended by chrysler. starting earlier this year the stalling restarted and it only happens after i fill the car with fuel. i have tried several other gas stations and ran some fuel injection cleaner through the fuel system. i do not top off the tank when filling the car up. at one point the stalling occurred after every fill up and now it is not as often (every other fill up). after filling the tank the car starts normally and as i exit the gas station and stop to check to merge into traffic the car will stumble and stall. it restarts and will stall again if i don't keep the engine rpm's up. sometimes after i fill up and quickly merge into traffic (and not allow the car to fall to idle speed) while accelerating up to 25-40 mph the car will stumble and it feels like it is not getting fuel. it does not stall because the car is gaining speed and then clears up after a "surge" and then runs fine till the next fill up cycle. i am careful about pulling out in heavy traffic after fill ups out of fear of it stalling. *tr
In january 2013, i filed a vehicle safety complaint here about my v8 engine stalling after fuel refill (gasoline tank replacement repair bill was $1540.93). the nhtsa office of defects investigation soon opened investigation pe13016 into the fuel tank problem. the odi information request to chrysler cited numerous complaints, including mine. investigation pe13016 was closed earlier this year by nhtsa because the "condition is adequately addressed by chrysler's extended warranty" on 2006 chrysler 300 fuel tanks. the closing summary refers to chrysler sending letters to owners about the extended warranty. since i did not receive an owner letter, i today called the chrysler customer assistance center, 1-800-247-9753. the assistance center representative told me that my vehicle is not within the extended warranty because my vehicle (built within the extended warranty time frame) contained a gas tank with the sales code "nsks" and that the extended warranty only covers cars built with the gas tank sales code "nsk." nothing in the materials posted online with pe13016 indicate that there are two different gas tanks, only one of which had problems. please, reconsider whether the chrysler response is adequate. my vehicle, with the "nsks" gas tank, clearly suffered the refill stalling problem addressed in pe 13016.
After refueling the vehicle to a full tank of fuel vehicle stalls and sometimes becomes very hard to restart. once the fuel tank level goes down a little the problem goes away. this always occurs after refueling to a full tank of fuel. *tr
Vehicle hesitates/stalls after filling with fuel. dealership replaced purge solenoid and cannister at a cost to me of $538.22. after replacement, car died on me 5 times after filling with fuel in less than a 4 block area. returned car to dealership. was told the customary fix was a new canister and fuel tank, at an additional cost of $1,168.70 plus tax, or to only fill tank 3/4 of the way full when fueling. i choose not to pay approximately an additional $1,200 and have not been able to fill my tank to first fuel hose shutoff since. have had to try to guess how much fuel to put into vehicle when fueling ever since. don't understand why i wasn't notified by the dealership of this problem since they obviously have a record this was an issue with my vehicle, and have not received the fuel tank extended lifetime warranty coverage letter from chrysler. have not been contacted by chrysler at all regarding this problem. *tr
After filling the gas tank to full, stopping after the pump clicks off the first time, the vehicle stalled after running for around 5 minutes. restarted vehicle and same thing happened two more times. vehicle continues to do this regularly. *tr
After filling the gas tank full i drove the car 1-2 miles and stopped at a traffic light and when i went to accelerate to go forward the engine completely died. i coasted to a stop just past the intersection and was able to re-start it. the same thing happened about a mile further down the road only this time i was not stopped, but driving and accelerating and it died and i was forced to coast to a stop and restart the engine. the problem continued for several days and then stopped. it happened again the next time i filled the gas tank up with very similar issues, and again stopped after the gas tank had used several gallons of fuel. i took it to the dealer and was informed that they would have to replace the gas tank (at a cost of $1600). the technician then told me that if i kept the gas tank at 75% full and not completely fill it i would have no problems. he was right, since these events in december of 2012 i have only filled it to 75% full and have had no problems. i am reporting this because i read in the dallas morning news on 05/16/2013 that this model of chrysler is being investigated for the problem i have told you of. the description/symptoms listed in the news release seemed to match mine and i am therefore reporting it. *tr
After filling up my gas tank, i encountered numerous stalls while driving. thankfully, it was city driving early in the morning. since then, i have encountered numerous situations where the car has stalled after filling up. i initially thought it was bad gas (i.e. water in my gas tank), however, i have since varied the fueling stations and brands i use and have seen no effect. it always seems to happen after i fill up, and it seems to go away after the tank has emptied a bit. the latest encounter was yesterday (i filled up two days prior) while i had my family in the car - multiple stalls in mid-day city traffic. and again this morning. the gas tank is still quite full (it shows over "f" on the gauge). i _never_ top off when i fill - i simply wait until the filler turns itself off when filling. i have never seen this problem prior to the first occurrence in mid november of 2012, which i initially (as indicated) wrote off as bad gas due to hurricane sandy (i figured the storm may have caused water in the tanks of gas stations). after hearing about numerous issues on this, i wanted to add my experiences to the growing list. the car in question is a 2006 chrysler 300c srt-8. *tr
After filling the vehicle with fuel (not topping off the tank) the car stalled upon leaving the gas station. i was able to restart it after several times but the risk is incredible! the car stalls without warning as traffic was all around me honking and i was nearly being hit from behind!! once was a fluke i thought and maybe bad gas. i was able to carefully navigate on back streets to the house and never had the problem again until the next fill up. again i had the stalling problem, lucky for me i had picked a light traffic time to fill up. i switched gas stations after that an now only get gas at shell stations hearing that they had the best gas quality overall. the problem has continued since then every time i fill the tank full. the stalling problem seems to be occurring now two needle widths below the full mark which means something is getting worse. the local chrysler dealership says that there is no recall and the fix is to replace the gas tank due to a faulty value at the top of the tank. the cost is $1,315. the risk of getting hit from behind at any speed is incredible and very real!! i believe chrysler should replace the faulty tanks. *tr
Car stalls after filling at gas station due to flooding or other issue. dealer would not admit its a problem. happened approx 4 times where i stalled in traffic and almost was rear ended. had to drive vehicle in parking lot accelerating 8 times to burn off fuel before it was safe to drive while car shuddered. cannot fill up tank anymore. was told i need a new tank but there was a 6 month back order due to all the people requesting new tanks. *tr
Just filled up car at gas station (don't top off) exited lot and proceeded on road way and car just died.lost all power, had just gotten up to about 15 mph.towed to dealership (. was told to replace cam-crank sensor). tow service $80.00 work done $760.00. next incident, december 3, 2012, just filled car up (not topping off) same problem as before. towed to dealership, tow service $80.00. dealership said they needed to replace evap canister and purge solenoid. cost to replace $630.89. latest incident was on july 5, 2013 filled up at station , same as before, this time the car died on the freeway. took 3 police officers to push my car off the freeway and out of harms way. once again had the car towed ($100.00 this time) to the dealership with the same problem. today is july 31, 2013 and i just found out that they are now saying that the gas tank needs to be replaced, and the vents in the gas tank are clogged. the cost to me will be $1,800.00 to replace and once again another large expense. until my boyfriend brought in some paperwork he found on a "chrysler forum"( indicating that there were over 92 people that have reported the exact same problem ) the service dept. at the dealership says they have not had any problems like this before and they did not know how to deal with this problem. we asked them to take some of the gas out of the tank and take the car to the gas station and fill up the car. well after getting gas the car died on the service reps. not just once but 3 times. this whole time they had my car, not once did any codes show up. work on my car is now pending. very disappointed with chrysler, this was my dream car and i can't even enjoy it. the car has less than 23,000 miles and i am scared to drive it. i don't understand why chrysler does not recall these cars. my confidence and satisfaction with the chrysler products is at an all time low. *tr
After fill up at gas station ( not topping off), when leaving and coming to a stop at an intersection, car will shut off and have to crank two or three times to start again. it will do this several more times after coming to a stop, once on the road or freeway it will run like nothing is wrong. once fuel level drops enough it will no longer stall when coming to a stop. have read in forums that the problem is more than likely a valve that is built in into the tank, making this an expensive fix. *tr
Car stalls immediately after filling up. i switched filling stations, brands and octanes. continued to have problem. after a few gallons were used, the stalling went away each time. problem now continues while stopped at traffic lights, traveling at low speeds, or no pressure on the throttle. while moving it will stall, the engine light will come on and "ding", then when i pump the throttle it will catch itself and the car will jerk hard and accelerate again. at traffic lights once it stalls, it will require using the key to restart. i took the car to the dealer twice for the problem, the last time in aug 2013, the check engine light had stayed on. they reset the codes and could not duplicate the problem. *js
Our 2006 chrysler 300c dies after fueling the gas tank to full. it has died in intersections were we have almost been run into and in turns where is locks up and there is no power anything and have almost crashed. we have taken it to the dealership and continuously pay money to fix what they think it is and now for the third time they are asking for almost 1800 dollars to replace the tank. i can definitely see how this is a major problem and a huge safety issue. *tr
Engine stalls after filling the tank. on at least four occasions vehicle would stall within 20 miles of completely filling tank. after second incident vehicle taken to chrysler dealer for a tune-up, however problem persisted. this occurred once while entering a public parking lot with loss of power steering and brakes fortunately the car at low speed and rolled to a stop before striking anything. on another occasion this happened while pulling away from a traffic light in heavy traffic nearly causing the vehicle to be struck from behind. temporary fix is to no longer completely fill the tank, guessing at about 3/4 tank to stop fueling. partially filling the tank is not a proper solution. this is a recurring problem and needs to be investigated and recalled.
For the past two years, my 2006 chrysler 300c has been surging, trying to cut out, and stalling at the first several stop lights after filling the tank up with gas. car stalls or tries to stall several more times while driving in traffic. have come to realize that car will not do this if i only fill the tank up to 3/4 full, but if the tank is filled more than that, the same problem occurs after fill up. the car will try to stall when stopping at several of the first traffic lights, driving after restarting, or driving around curves. this seems rather dangerous driving like this in traffic. i just learned about the nhtsa pe13-016 that chrysler had extended the warranty for the 19 gallon gas tanks to lifetime. i have also learned that chrysler is only honoring a limited amount of vehicles whose owners had filed complaints before the investigation was ended. it appears chrysler is not meeting it's obligation. i am the original owner of this car and have never received a letter from chrysler dealing with any recall for this car. *tr
I backed my vehicle out of the driveway, headed downhill to the intersection. i stopped at the stop sign, as i accelerated leaving the stop sign, the vehicle stalled out. i placed the shifter in neutral and restarted the vehicle. drove to the next intersection and the vehicle did the same thing. after the initial problem i drove the vehicle to the dealership, where i purchased the vehicle. the vehicle was, and is, still under warranty. the dealership diagnosed the problem to be a failed throttle control and brake pedal assembly, estimated cost of around $1,000. they would not say for sure if the repairs would fix the problem. these repairs would not be covered by my extended warranty. my vehicle has stalled out sporadically this past several months, sometimes in heavy traffic, where i could easily be rear ended. my vehicle has the 5.7 liter hemi v8 engine with automatic transmission.
The first time i stalled was after filling up my tank , i was leaving the gas station, i was in the right lane of on coming traffic when it stalled, nearly getting hit by an on coming car. since that time it has stalled at least six times. i went to my chrysler dealer who claims they had no knowledge of this problem. it happened again two days later while on a busy highway. i was making a left turn into a shopping center when it stalled , leaving me in the far left lane of on coming traffic. i immediately went to the chrysler dealership and reported it again at which time i was informed there was still no recall on the car and i was told i would have to leave it. i am going back to the dealership on 5/30/13 (hilton head chrysler, hwy 278 ,fording island rd,.,hardeville, sc) *tr
Upon fill up of gas tank until pump auto shuts off, when driving away from gas station, vehicle will constantly stall and not start, vehicle will shut off unexpectedly in the middle of traffic, this became very dangerous when it happened in the middle of an intersection with my children in the car. i had the gas tank, fuel pump, evap pump, charcoal canister all replaced by galeanas dodge in warren mi. all expenses were on me. the parts used were the exact same ones that came from the factory, no superseded parts were used or updated. i know this is a very common problem with many others who drive a similarly equipped vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the rollover valve caused the failure and that the fueltank would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired because the manufacturer stated the fuel tank was on back order. the failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 59,000. *tr
Car stalls at highway speed, stalls when i come to a stop. sometimes starts again immediately. potentially dangerous when car stalls on highway, hazardous avoiding accidents. car is always maintained as manufacturer recommends. *tr
After fueling, car began to surge, and then die at random for approximately 5 minutes. car stalled at major, busy intersection while i was turning. i had a near, potentially fatal accident as i had to restart my car while oncoming traffic coming towards me. this was a horrifying experience. i had this happen a few more times and had attributed it to "bad gas" until i found out about a faulty fuel tank/vapor part in car. i took the car to chrysler dealership and paid $130.00 to diagnose problem. rode with service technician to refuel car and show him the problem. he experienced the same issue, verified my complaint, then gave me the estimate of cost to replace fuel tank. chrysler corp. has offered a 25% discount to help with replacement of entire fuel tank. the whole fuel tank needs to be replaced because the faulty part is built into it. the cost quote from the chrysler dealership, parts and labor is $1,350.00. the price of the fuel tank only, no labor is $905.00. this should be covered by chrysler 100%, the fuel tank did not wear out or fail, the part they built into it failed. it may appear by the year model, (2006) that this an older model beginning to have problems. this is not the case, car has been kept up with regular service and maintenance and is in otherwise mint condition.i feel that this is a serious safety issue, and now i am aware that i cannot fill my fuel tank to capacity without having this issue re occur. please, any help appreciated. thank you. *tr
After filling up gas tank to capacity, vehicle stalled after driving for approximately one mile because fuel flooded the engine. the vehicle restarted after several attempts but vehicle continued to stall after a mile. i took vehicle to an authorized dealer who stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced.the fuel tank was replaced but i am still concerned that this problem could have caused a crash resulting in a lot of damage and possible death. the vehicle only had 26,100 miles. *js
For the last 30,000+ miles, every time i fill up the car stalls or attempts to stall. about 8 months ago, i took it to my mechanic who had never heard of the problem. he searched the internet and found no reported instances. i've learned to apply a little gas when i have to stop at red lights to keep it running. it will still stall out. i have been searching the internet every few months to see if anyone had the same problem and finally found your investigation action number pe13016. *tr
Vehicle stalled after refueling. filling the gas tank to full without 'topping off' will cause the car's engine to stall without any prior warning. no dtcs/miles are set. can be restarted with some difficulty. the stall will occur at any engine/vehicle speed and will happen within the first 5 minutes of driving the car after refueling. the problem can be avoided by not filling the tank past 3/4 full. have tested this 'work-around' at the same gas station & pump. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that shortly after refueling, the vehicle stalled while driving 5 mph. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but it stalled again shortly thereafter. the contact stated that the failure would recur whenever added fuel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician performed an update to the vehicle but the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer but the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not further repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000. kmj
The car will hesitate and stall unexpectedly. it seems to occur only immediately after refueling. after driving a few miles, the problem seems to go away. internet chatter seems to indicate a bad evap solenoid/canister. apparently this is part of the entire fuel tank and is a costly fix. this can be quite dangerous as the car will hesitate and stall even at highway speeds. it seems that this is a fairly common problem. *tr
After filling the fuel tank with gas and entering the freeway the car stalled. every time i fill the car up with gas the fuel tank will just stall. i took the car to the dealer and was told that i would have to have the fuel tank and lines replaced. this is a serious safety hazard. when the car shuts off the steering wheel locks up and you must come to a complete stop before putting the car in park to restart it; all while trying not to be rear-ended by coming traffic. i continue to have the problem today. i took my car in for maintenance and was told that there's now a recall on the fuel tank, but due to the massive number of recalls, the part is on back-order. *tr
When i fill up my 2006 chrysler 300c 5.7 hemi it will stall/engine shuts off while driving down the street. acts like it could be vapor lock. it's take a few tries to start after this happens. i will be in the middle-of-the-road. there has been a few close calls. it happens every time i fill up with gas. i am scared to pull out into traffic just because my car will sometimes stall. i've taken my car to mechanics and the dealership nobody seems to know what the problem is. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that she was unable to fill the fuel tank to the full level. after fueling the vehicle, it would stall. sometimes the engine would restart immediately and other times it would take over five minutes. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times but the failure could not be duplicated. the contact called the manufacturer who advised her to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 51,000. updated 1/19/2010 *cn the dealer replaced the charcoal canister and fuel cap. updated 04/19/11
Vehicle has had 3 incidents of engine stalling. 1st was early morning after being driven only .7 miles. next was 11/5/2013 after filling up on way home. car died at stop sign. next was 11/6/2013 after being driven less then a mile. car restarted after each incident. *tr
I filled up my car with premium fuel (as always) and stopped the fill at the first click of the gas pump. i started my car and reset my trip information into my computer and put it in drive and got on the 59 north feeder road. it started jerking like the engine was cutting out so i slowed down and when i slowed down it completed died on the feeder road. i started back up and it missed a couple of times and died again at the red light. it seems that if you are on an open stretch of road going over 30 or 40 it won't die - but will cut out and jerk really bad. this has happened another 10-15 times since then. i stopped filling the car up and just put in 3/4 tank. my husband will forget and fill it up and it does this every time you fill the car up. it has died in the middle of the road as i was leaving a gas station, it has died in intersections after leaving a red light. very frustrating and dangerous! *tr
After refueling, the car stalled while making a left hand turn onto a busy highway. all the engine lights came on. car was hard to restart. at the next intersection while the car was stopped, it stalled again. this continued to happen intermittently over the years. had it looked at by chrysler while still under extended warranty, they said they could find nothing wrong. lately, this has happened every time we put gas in the car. if driving on the expressway after a fill up, sometimes the car will sputter and temporarily loose acceleration. *tr
When filling the gas rank (no topping off) the motor would stall out, had car towed to service garage only to find the car would start. this has happened 2 times, after that it would occur at every fill, it has now gotten to the point where the car stalls out between 2 and 10 times, we don't dare go on the highway for at least 1/2 hour for fear of stalling in traffic! web search indicates this is a very common defect with this model, was told repair would require replacing the gas tank and fuel canister because fill pipe is too high on factory original tank? sounds like a defective factory part that needs dealing with for safety concerns, thank you much for your attention! After filling up gas tank to full (not overfilling - stop fueling once pump shuts off) and driving at slow speeds less than 5mph or at idle speed, car dies with no warning, engine light and oil light comes on. it takes several tries to re-start the car. engine dies approximately 4+ times until it runs fine. this happens periodically, not everytime car is fueled up. i fill up at 1/2 tank twice a week. this incident occurs periodically - about once month. i have had the car die as i am crossing busy intersections, turning into a side road enough times that i have blocked traffic and have fear of being t-boned because the car dies without warning in the middle of crossing a street or when making a turn. *tr
