I contacted a chevrolet dealership to have my vehicle serviced as it relates to the recall for the airbags. i was told that the remedy is not available because there are no parts yet. if something were to happen and the airbags deploy, my passengers and i could be in very bad shape. this complaint is about the recall being issued; no way to service our vehicles. this is not acceptable! i need to have my vehicle serviced asap
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet tahoe. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the dealer bredemann chevrolet (1401 w dempster st, park ridge, il 60068 was contacted and confirmed the parts were not available for the recall. the manufacture was not notified of the issue.the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tools confirms parts not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. the contact received a notification in the mail for a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). the contact spoke with o'rielly chevrolet (6160 e broadway blvd, tucson, az 85711 (520) 829-3876) where he was informed that the parts were not available for the recall. the manufacturer had not been notified of the recall. a failure had not occurred on the vehicle. vin tool confirms parts not available.
The dash on the vehicle has cracked at the passenger air bag cover. also cracked above the speedometer. concern is there may be humidity ingress to the airbag, the electronics or sub assemblies increasing the risk for an airbag deployment anomaly. another concern is plastic or metal from the dash could also impact the airbag (deflation) or present injury to the occupants (flying parts). a lesser concern is the sensors for the automated ac/heating systems in the car. believing they are calibrated with sealed intact components. the larger split at the speedometer has only recently happened which makes this a concern that there are larger more underpinning issues not fully realized.
No resolution to current airbag safety recall. nhtsa recall number 16v383. gm tells me it is safe and nhtssa says i might die.
The dealer says they do not have the parts to replace the recalled air bags and do not know when they will get them. yesterday the computer flashed a warning to check air bag.
While traveling southbound on a four lane highway at approximately 65-70mph (posted speed limit of 65) my 2016 chevrolet tahoe seemed to have no steering, similar to how a steering wheel feels when vehicle is off, as the vehicle was traveling over a knoll with a slight curve to the left. the accelerator was pressed to check to see if vehicle was in fact still running, which it was, but the steering wheel would not move. the brakes were applied at which time the tahoe darted left into the other lane where another vehicle was traveling, causing that vehicle to hit the tahoe in the drivers side back door. the tahoe then continued broadside until it broke free of impact with the other vehicle, and turned backward into the median. the tahoe travelled backwards thru the median for approximately 80ft at which time the accelerator was pressed to the floor in an attempt to keep the tahoe out of northbound traffic. the tahoe came out of the median broadside, back into the left lane & stopped. the steering wheel never moved during this accident. the state trooper suggested that the front wheels were locked the entire time based on the ...
Airbag recall was issued in 2016. the dealers say they don't have the parts yet. what should i do to get this resolved?
