Airbags have not been fixed due to parts not available it's been 3 yrs since! every time i call the dealer i get the same well we don't have any parts. you should be fine...because of that i haven't felt safe for my kids to be in a vehicle i love and paid so much for! so now it's just sitting or used by my husband but we have to be careful.
Takata recall the service airbag light is on in my 2008 chevrolet tahoe and when i called a gm dealership they said there isn't anything that they can do about it because the remedy is not yet available. however my vehicle wont pass inspection until the light is off and airbags are fixed. i received my letter from gm about this recall in 2016 and it stated that they wouldn't fix it unless the light came on and now that the service light is on i feel unsafe to drive it and worry about inspection when it comes due.
Airbags will not inflate. inflator keeps going and regulator does not stop.
I drove my vehicle in the morning and then parked it for about 2.5 hours. when i started my vehicle the gas gauge showed my car was empty, even though i had just recently filled up and had only gone about 80 miles on the tank, my airbag readiness light stayed on, and none of my gauges were functioning. also, the light for the passenger air bag above my review mirror didn't illuminate at all. i drove it for a few seconds and tried turning it off and then back on, but nothing changed. after driving it for a few miles, i parked and turned the vehicle off again. when i turned it back on, everything began working again. i believe this is an electrical issue, but when taken to the dealership, i could not get it to replicate the issue. besides the obvious danger of not having any gauges while driving, my fear is that the airbags would not work properly in an accident.

Takata recall" -- gm recall #2049151; nhtsa #16v381. i live in southern oregon where it is very humid and can also get very hot, both of these conditions are listed by the manufacturer to increase the rate at which the airbags can degrade. this recall is over two years old, repair or replacement should exist by now. i have contacted the dealership in my area multiple times, only to be told each time, that there is no remedy for this problem. i would consider trading my vehicle in and getting something safer, but due to this unresolved recall, the value of my vehicle has been diminished. this is my second complaint to the nhtsa.

I bought the car a year a go, i started to notice some cracks ok the top dashboard, by the instrument cluster, i big crack by the top air bag system. the cracks are getting bigger, im afraid this is not safe in case of traffic accident.

Started the tahoe and put it in drive and the side curtain airbags deployed on both the driver and passenger side. the seat belts also locked up.
Dashboard complete crack at left upper corner of passenger airbag cover dash plate. there is atakata airbag recall since 2016 that gm still has pending replacement. crack happened while vehicle was stationary in parking lot this summer. since cold small hairline crack is now completly thru dash and pushed airbag dash cover up. i am afraid that if the vehicle gets jarred the bag will release.

Takata recall i recieved a recall notice dated july 2016 about this recall. i am told there is no resolution as of yet. why??? how long will all parties involved with issue be allowed to stall and forgo the right course of action that is to repair the vehicles affected. many innocent people are being put at risk needlessly by this course of inaction !! i respectfully log this complaint on november 23 2017.
The dashboard on my 2008 tahoe is cracked and has become an issue because the cracks have made it to my passenger airbag and i am worried about my safety in case of an accident . i wouldn't want plastic flying everywhere and potentially kill someone.
Takata recall: on 11/14/2017 i learned that i can not sell or trade my 2098 chevy tahoe due to this recall. furthermore gm district manager told me there is no fix and i will be stuck with my vehicle until a solution is found. therefor i will loose money on the value of my vehicle. i would also like to bring to your attention that gm has faulty dashboards that crack, especially in 2008 chevy tahoe. gm has acknowledged this flaw but it's not a recall because no one has been injured or killed yet due to the defective dashboards. i found online a news reporter named andy wise who invested this case and has all proofs as he can not report a news investigation without attorney review. he was able to get his client a free dashboard replaced. i went to my local dealership and played the video for the a service manager and he contacted the district manager. gm alreadyvhas an open car claim for my vehicle. i received a phone call from the district service manager tonight who claims he is giving me a gift by paying for 50% of the repair cost. i shouldn't have to pay a dime. you should have many reports on file about crack gm or chevy dashboards. it was tonight i learned i can't even do a thing u til mybairbag recall is resolved and until that time i am stuck with a vehicle losing depreciation value every day. please investigate and help us all out.

Takata recall no one can answer my questions. case reference: nhtsa 1153284 1. gm had 2+ years to investigate the airbag they put in my vehicle. my question is: why nhtsa would allow them a time extension until the end of the year 2017. their time to investigate was granted an extension by nhtsa as per my call to nhtsa 2. as the air bag on my car has never been deployed in the 10 years of ownership (contains original airbags installed in the gm janesville wi plant, never touched internally as the steering wheel has not been removed or the dashboard taken apart ). my question is: the tk holdings card states: "if your vehicle contains a defective or potentially defective airbag inflator and is under recall, contact your nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free repair." when dealer was contacted, he is still waiting for gm to finish the investigation and can not replace the airbag under the recall. which is true? will results happen before the december 27, 2017 date where i may be able to include myself as a "will suffer" (as i do not know the outcome of a accidental incident in advance of your 12/27/17 date to file a claim). observation: this sounds like the classic case of the governmental left hand not knowing what the governmental right hand is doing! attention nhtsa: i think someone should call me as to completion of the recall that gm is dragging their feet over. 724-654-0270 no response to my inquiry confirms to me that you are just as much at fault as gm or takata in the perpetuation of this recall and/or investigation.

Takata recall gm was granted a petition for deferral to investigate airbags on my 2008 chevrolet tahoe. per gm's own website his petition expired in september 2017. as of today 26 october 2017, gm has apparently not taken action on this issue.
