Owner was driving with snow on the road and hit a slick spot that had ice. the vehicle started sliding sideways out of control off the highway. the car continued off the road, into a ditch, and hit a tree. the entire front end of the car was damaged; the hood was smashed, grill fell off, part of front bumper detached, headlight out of place. we were traveling around 50 mph when we ran off the highway. neither of the front air bags deployed. it was a front end impact and we were traveling fast enough that the air bags should have deployed. this has to be a defect of the air bags. *tr
School bus drove across a four lane divided road and my daughter ran into the school bus, she applied the brakes and turned to the right and hit the bus. the air bag did not deploy. injuries are soreness in shoulder and neck. granddaughter age 3 was traumatized over the crash. school bus driver was ticketed. *tr
Had passenger airbag replaced via the first recall at the local toyota dealer (i-10 toyota in indio). when the car was returned to me, the airbag light was on. i brought it to the attention of the repair person and i was told the light was for a problem with the other airbag and i would have to spend $150 to get it fixed. scam! i did not get it fixed so now i'm driving around with the airbag light on, not knowing if or when it will explode. this should be takata's expense, not mine.
The car was struck on the drivers side. the car is equipped with side curtain air bags, in addition to the steering and passenger dash. the impact covered from the drivers door and the entire front fender. the only air bags that deployed were the steering and dash. the side curtains did not, resulting in head injury to a 16 year old that was the driver. this car was purchased with these safety features expecting it to work as intended. i would like to know why, and what is going to be done about it.if i don't receive a proper response.i will seek legal support. thank you! *tr
Takata recall air bag dashboard light on but air bags have not deployed and check engine light on dash turns on and off system says problem with fuel inject head lights wire keeps burning out.
Granddaughter driving on county road evidently inattentive had to quickly stop because car in front of her stopped for red light.there had just been a short rain and road oils were present. her car slide into the rear bumper of the suv in front of her. i assume that the quick breaking caused the toyota to nose dive under the rear bumper of the suv. the read bumper of the suv suffered only slight movement and small abrasion mark. the toyota has serious damage - crumpled hood and destroyed headlight and required towing..the airbags did not deploy. she was unharmed. perhaps this is an incident when the airbag should have deployed. i have heard of very minor collisions causing deployment. *tt

I got hit (t boned) by a truck on my (driver's) side when the driver of the truck failed to yield. it was severe; my car swirled around for a couple of times. the front of my car was smashed and it was total by insurance company. the most dangerous thing was, my airbag did not even flinch. big question is, after buying a new car, doing servicing regularly from the dealer and maintaining properly, why the airbags did not open? it might be manufacture's error or the dealer's. *tr
My 2006 toyota corolla's airbags did not deploy when i had a head on collision. the entire front of my vehicle was smashed to a pulp, and my airbags didn't even flinch. i tried to find out if this was a manufacturer defect or if there was a recall on this so to have it fixed, but have not been able to find anything on this. *tr

In march 2008, i was the 3rd car in a four car accident. when i was hit from the rear, i was pushed, extremely hard into the car in front of me. i lost conscientiousness when i hit the steering wheel. my air bags never deployed, nor did my seat belt lock up in order for me to avoid an injury. should toyota be recalling their 2006 corollas for re-check and repair. also, i understand the 2006 toyota was recalled in 2007 for exterior lighting issues, i was never notified. *tr
My 2006 toyota corolla s was rear ended on the right half of the rear bumper on hwy 85, then propelled into a concrete barrier creating left front damage. the trunk was crumpled including the right rear roof support. the crash to the front broke a large piece out f the left wheel and flattened the tire. the seat belt held me, but i suffered two severe whiplashes and still under treatment for injuries. the car has been repaired at a cost of $9,300. i don't understand why the airbag didn't deploy. the toyota agency said it was because the collision didn't happen in the middle of the front bumper. it is my understanding that airbags are suppose to protect you. is there an issue with toyota airbags? *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving 45 mph in an ice storm, the vehicle slid for approximately half a mile and the brakes failed. the vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was filed. the current and failure mileages were 32,000.
Last year we purchased a 2006 toyota corolla. we added side air bags. we wanted a safe vehicle for our daughter to drive. two days ago she was driving a friend to work. a car was parked on the right side of the road. it pulled out to a make a u-turn right in front of her. she avoided a straight on t-bone of the car by braking and swerving to the right. the left front of her car hit the drivers door and side of the other car. she was traveling at 50 mph. the airbags did not deploy. the passenger in her car hit his head on the dashboard- his seatbelt did not tighten and lock in. he suffered a concussion. both my daughter and passenger suffered body aches and bruising from the collision. at this time the car is at a body shop for estimates on the damage. we will have it also go to the toyota dealer to determine why the airbags and seatbelt failed to work. we purchased this vehicle specifically for its safety features and are quite dismayed that they failed. we have no confidence in this vehicle now. *tr

Was driving down an decline in the road and was applying the brake gently due to stop light at the oncoming intersection, which i saw that was red, but it changed to green and i reapplied the gas at this time. then , i heard a great loud noise and this thing was in my face, and i could not see . i knew that i needed to get the car off the road, but i was fighting the airbag to see the road and to prevent me from hitting a car in front, i used my right hand to fight the airbag and my left to steer the car. at this point i was thinking i had passed the intersection which had a small area for flowers or signs, had a 4-6 curb, but when i turned the wheel toward the right to get off the road i ran upon the median( across the curb which was 4-6 inches in height, and this damaged the tire rims . they were bend and damaged the tires , all four went flat. i still managed to get the car to safety without any real injury to myself. i am still in daze with this freak occurrence. i have never experience d anything like this. i would like to hear from others., but mainly i would like to know what caused this. the car had been hit in the rear approximately 6 months prior, in which the whole trunk area and back had to be replaced. could this have been a factor? i really need answers. keep it mind, i have driven this road for 40 years without an accident. i can't understand this with a new car and new tires.*ak

I was heading home from work traveling westbound on i-70 in the left lane and two deers ran in front of me from right to left. i collided with both deers in the left westbound lane , and then veered left and collided with the guard rail. the car sustained severe damage to the entire front and undercarriage and moderate damage to the driver and passenger sides. none of the airbags deployed. i hit my head on the steering wheel and suffered head contusions, head and neck injuries, and bruised my bladder from the seat belt, causing blood in my urine. the car has been declared a total loss.*ak

My husband and i were stopped at a red light when we were hit from behind and knocked at least one car length. we both suffer from whip lash. however my air bag warning light came on and stayed on but my air bags never deployed. what if this had been a head on collision would they have worked then to try and help save our lives. *nm
Passenger side airbag deployment can cause fatality. this is a nine (9) year old car. the replacement part may be three (3) years away, when the car will be twelve (12) years old. interim options of either disabling the airbag or not sitting in the passenger seat are very poor solutions. if toyota can hold out long enough all defective cars will be off the road and no repairs will be necessary. this outcome is very bad, the resolution is not adequate. disappointed to realize that car owner and passenger safety is not a priority concern for nhtsa, but rather the focus seems to be on maintaining happy car manufacturers. a proper resolution would be to repair the car in september 2015.
Toyota was supposed to replace the rusted wheels but it appears they either just repainted them or replaced them with another defective wheel. the wheels are rusting excessively. i received a recall notice advising me that my passenger side airbag was on recall list but part is not available at this time no mention was made of the driver side or side impact airbags. when i telephoned toyota, i was told by toyota that no recall was being issued for driver side or side impact airbags. this car has had surge issues, rusted wheels, tires 6 and 8 years old at time car was purchased as a brand new vehicle, now shrapnel danger from airbags with no recall. i put 8500 miles on car first year i owned it. then surge occurred and now it only has 14500 miles since i am afraid to drive it. toyota wants me to give it to dealer to hold until it is repaired. no guarantee re damage due to car sitting on dealers lot for months i.e. rusted brakes, engine, etc from sitting unused for months. this is ridiculous. toyota should be made to take back this vehicle and replace it with new corolla. i bought it new since i was retiring and now retired and can not afford new car. so i am stuck with it and can not drive it or enjoy my retirement or visit relatives since i can not drive car on highway. it is not safe to drive.
