Air bags are part of recall and could fail resulting in the passenger being struck with broken metal which could result in serious injury or death. recall began june 16th and i was informed by our dealer that i would have to wait for parts. that was 5 months ago. i am unable to use the passenger seat safely which has caused issues with my regular use of the vehicle. when requesting an update from our dealer i have not been given any timeline for repair. according to documentation i received from toyota "if you believe that the dealer or toyota has failed or is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable time, you may submit a complaint to the administrator, national highway traffic safety administration" which is what i am doing now. i don't feel that 5 months without even an update or estimate of repair is a "reasonable time".

I took my car on may 15, 2015 to correct the air bags recall. the toyota dealer was not able to repair the recall because the parts in the airbag lack bar code (inflator module openned techline case). after 3 months (today 8/14/2015), they have not corrected my airbag because that part is backorder. the toyota dealer does not know when they will receive the part. then, it is unknown when my car can be safe.

I got a letter months ago(how convenient that toyota didn't out a date on the recall notice they sent but i looked the recall up on line it was around 5-13-15). it is now 10-22-15 i have heard nothing about the part as of yet but they expect me to drive my car with no passenger in the front seat for this long or it can cause bodily injury or death-are you kidding me! over 5 months and still the part to correct this recall is not available and not even a letter on the progress? nothing! there is also no recall number on this notice-wow imagine that also!

We received a recall notice in the mail about defective airbags back in august 2015 (even though the recall was made aware to nhsa back in may 2015). it is now october and nothing has occurred to remedy this dangerous situation! all the letter said from toyota is that no one should sit in the passenger seat. with a family of 4, and this being our only vehicle, that is outrageously unacceptable! we need that seat. also, if the airbag should deploy metal material, i would think the debris would not be contained just to my face, but to my children sitting in the back! why has toyota not completed manufacturing replacement airbags and sending them to its customers?! why have they not sent an update to this situation?
