I believed my airbag was fixed. i took my toyota corolla in to the dealership in november. they advised me they could fix my airbag. they called me to pick it up and stated it was fixed. however i got a new safety recall in the mail saying my corolla has a airbag recall. i called the toyota company as stated on the form and the customer service lady stated that there is another recall and the first fix was not a fix. i do not understand. have i been driving around in my car with the passenger seat airbag not fixed when i was told it was fixed. this is not safe. that means for 3 months i have been driving around with an unsafe airbag that could kill me or my passenger. toyota is saying that they have no parts and no fix at this time. but legally they are to notify me. this is very stressful and just plain wrong. it's not safe and they are putting my life and family in jeopardy. i do not believe they are taking this seriously or working fast enough with a solution. she kept telling me that they are most concerned with the gulf states. well i live a hour and a half from the gulf. secondly the test results show they are not sure if humidity plays a part in the airbag issue. i believe toyota should be offering a safe solution to the problem or offering us rental cars. *tr

Toyota has not been able to provide a fix for their recall nhtsa recall number: 15v043 since january 2015. this is way too long. their new solution (mailed to us in august 2015) is to avoid seating anyone in the front passenger seat - which is a ridiculous and unacceptable request. they need to fix this now. other related recalls: nhtsa recall number: 15v285

I have been receiving recall letters since 2011 or so. i call toyota to have this issue taken care of every 6 months and they tell me that the parts needed to fix my recall have not been manufactured yet. the last time i called toyota in mamaroneck,ny,they actually gave me an appointment but when i got there they could not help me. a total waste of time. what are they waiting for?? i don't feel safe driving a car which air bags are not properly installed. *tr

I received a safety recall notice from toyota about 6 months ago, telling me that the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (srs ecu) has been recalled and needs to be replaced. (nhtsa recall id 15v285) at that time, i was told that parts were not available to replace the srs ecu, but that i would be told at a later date when they were available so that i could have this issue fixed. earlier this week, i got another recall notice for the same issue. all they told me in this newest notice is that the problem still exists and that parts are *still* not available to replace the srs ecu. their recommendation is to not have anyone sit in the front passenger seat until i am able to have this problem fixed. this is unacceptable. i have to take my father to a doctor's appointment in a month. he is over 6 feet tall. i am *not* going to make him sit in the back seat between two child seats. i am certainly not going to make him drive himself as his doctor has insisted that he have a ride to and from his procedure. i have contacted toyota directly, and have been told by the person who answered the phone that they have *no idea* when these parts will be available. this is completely unacceptable and a fine example of poor customer service. these parts need to be produced, tested, and made available as quickly as possible.

I have been sent two letters from toyota stating that i have a defective airbag and not to let anyone sit in the front passenger's seat. i have been waiting months for this to be corrected. when i call the toyota dealerships they tell me that they have yet to receive the replacement parts. this is a ticking bomb ready to explode and toyota is not resolving the issue in a timely manner. i hope you can help pressure them to speed up production on these replacement airbags before a serious injury occurs. many thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me in the issue.

I contacted toyota motor corporation concerning a recall on the air bag of the vehicle noted above. in speaking to first michelle and then janee, i complained that this vehicle is used by my son. since there are often other people also inside of the vehicle i have a concern that the air bag, when deployed, will cause injury to the passengers, mostly children. i asked toyota that simply not having passengers in the vehicle as a temporary measure until the resolution is available, with no time table of expected completion, is unacceptable. i requested to file a complaint in which janee informed me that she would take the complaint. after the complaint was filed i asked what the next step was; she stated that there were no other steps. she explained that toyota simply keeps the complaint without further follow-up or cataloging. when i asked about a rental vehicle such as what gm provided for their recalls, she stated that toyota will not be doing that and again recommended that the guidelines of not carrying passengers be followed. i find the resolution by toyota to this problem as unreasonable and unacceptable; particularly in that i am force to accept all of the financial liability should someone become injured during the operation of this vehicle. toyota should be held responsible in providing a rental vehicle, at no charge to me, until the parts are available and installed.

I received a safety recall letter as well as couple messages about the airbag safety recall for my vehicle, i made an appointment last december 24, 2014 in the toyota dealership for that specific recall nearby where i live which is the doxon toyota in auburn, washington, when we came in for the appointment the service specialist [xxx], did not even inspect our car but automatically told us that the available parts is on back order and they don't know when it is coming gave us 3 options to leave our car and they will give us a loaner with so many restrictions on the loaner vehicle that they will loan us, disable the airbag on the vehicle and they are not responsible is something happens to the vehicle while we were driving it and just drive our car and they will call us once the parts comes in. anyway we decided to keep our car followed up with them today 1/2/2015 spoke to [xxx] and she states that the parts might not be available for the next 6 months. it is very frustrating because they have that don't care attitude just because its not their vehicle that is affected or it is just the way toyota motors deals with their customers. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I received a safety recall letter from toyota motor sales, torrance, ca on 28nov14. the letter strongly recommended that i immediately take my 2004 toyota corolla to any authorized dealer where the front passenger inflator assembly would be replaced at no charge to me. i contacted the service department at valley hi toyota, victorville, ca, who i have used for all service on both my toyotas since moving to ca in dec 2013. i was informed that the recall on my vehicle was temporarily suspended as toyota hasn't decided how it will address the issue and to call back in a few weeks. unsatisfied with this response, i called the toyota customer experience center where i was informed that because i live in ca, an area lacking consistently high absolute humidity, my vehicle is not authorized for a recall. this is absolutely unsatisfactory. as a military officer, since 2004 i have lived in texas twice, arizona, north carolina, georgia twice, kentucky, and california. i would count living in houston, tx, fort bragg, nc, fort benning, ga, and fort knox, ky as high absolute humidity areas. i don't understand what toyota has decided the threshold is for determining that my vehicle has been exposed to consistently high absolute humidity. i will take legal action if the front passenger airbag in my vehicle deploys abnormally in a crash, injuring the occupant. i will also never purchase another toyota as safety is not their top priority. *tr

Pursuant to toyota's website, a recall exists for my vin which states, "in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants." a related article on nhtsa's website indicates that owners of cars with such a recall are "urged to take immediate action." the recall date was nearly five months ago (june 10, 2014). i called the local dealer (toyota of manhattan) to ensure that if i brought the car in, a replacement part was in stock, and they told me the car would be repaired if i brought it in. i brought the car in the following day (10/28/14) and was advised hours later that there is no remedy yet for this recall. this was confirmed by a call to toyota, who told me, contrary to the information linked to my vin on their website, that this doesn't affect my vehicle. toyota (and all other companies using the defective air bags at issue) should have a remedy available for all owners of affected vehicles, and should provide consistent information between their website, dealer service shops, and phone centers. the dealership wasted hours of my time by telling me i could bring the car in, and toyota doesn't have a fix for a major safety issue affecting hundreds of thousands of cars. *tr

Letter from congressman royce on behalf of constituent re 2004 toyota corolla airbag recall (attn: lauren pong). *smd the dealer informed the consumer he had to wait until toyota sent another letter authorizing the dealer to perform the recall. also, the parts were not available.

Safety recall dsb from toyota is for a fault in the ecu. i had the problem during the first recall over a year ago but they had not replaced the faulty ecu. i have been talking to multiple toyota dealerships who have been telling me that the part for the recall is not available and keep having me call back every 6 months. it has been well over a year of trying to have the repair done for a known problem on my car and i have gotten no answers as to when they will have parts. i do not feel it is safe driving a vehicle with a potential of the air bags deploying at any point. i find it hard to believe that well over a year after this has happened toyota still can dodge providing parts for the repair.
