My pregnant wife has had this issue before with the car and we took it to the dealership without anyone being able to fix it. while driving between 15-60 mph the car completely shuts down. no power steering, brakes, or electrical. you have to throw it in neutral and start it back up. this has to be an electrical issue as other quirky things have been happening as well such as the headlights will flicker on and off and the volume and stations selectors on the steerwheel often do not work properly. this is an issue that jeep needs to identify and fix. very scary to be going 50-60 mph and lose control of your car going down the highway. over the past two days this has happened three times. i have done research online as well and there are plenty of other jeep owners that have this same issue. jeep needs to have a recall for this issue. i am shocked that this has not happened yet. *tr

While driving under normal road & weather conditions the vehicle began shutting off & on sometimes resulting in a complete stall that required restarting the engine after rolling onto the shoulder without any power! we received a recall notice that details their recommendation that it should be driven without only the key in the ignition as a temporary approach. the problem persist even under this precaution & has become worse! driver has to hold the key while driving when it starts to shut down to avoid the stall.

I had the n23 recall done on my jeep and it no longer shifts into 4 low. chrysler isnt putting out a real fix to this problem that they created. *tr

Approximately 9 months ago our grand cherokee began having random electrical issues. the first symptoms to appear were with the dash board panel and vehicle gauges. speedometer and rpm gage would bounce back and forth together from 0 to 75% back to zero...when the vehicle is experiencing these issues, the odometer does not record mileage. the door locks and front windows don't operate. the headlights will sporadically turn on and off without being in the vehicle. the stereo will shut down. turn signals will "stick" if they are being used when vehicle has it's issue. loss of power has also happened. on a few occasions, the vehicle would not start, one time for 3 days. battery tested good at the shop. without doing a thing, day #4 it started fine. when electrical system acts up loss of major control functionality occurs. obvious results of that while driving 70 mph on the freeway don't need mentioning. online complaints in the hundreds yet jeep has "no clue"? unfortunately, this issue will ultimately cause loss of life if it hasn't already. *tr

Chrysler issued a n23 recall notice due to cracking circuit boards in the transfer case actuator (vehicle may inadvertently shift in to neutral). prior to the application of this recall my vehicle was capable of engaging 4lo. afterwards (immediately afterwards in the dealership parking lot) the transfer case would not shift. each attempt would result in a "service 4xd system" and would trigger a c140f trouble code. chrysler refuses to acknowledge the recall flash to be the issue. from jeep forums i have found myself to be one of hundreds if not more that encountered this issue. this recall is in essence a software work-around for a hardware issue. this recall is obviously a cheap attempt at fixing a costly issue of replacing the defective actuators with new. as a consumer i expect the manufacturer to fix potentially dangerous issues (such as what n23 attempts to do). however, it is not acceptable in doing so to damage the vehicle further or render systems inoperable. *tr

N23 recall was performed to keep transfer case from shifting into neutral caused by cracked circuit board. the "fix" to this was to flash the software to make it impossible for the jeep to shift into neutral and 4wd low. now every vehicle that has had this recall done is unable to tow their vehicle behind a camper because the transfer case can not shift into neutral, and 4wd low is inoperable as well. chrysler has claimed that the n23 recall has nothing to do with all of these vehicles losing 4wd low even though everyone that has had this recall done has lost neutral and 4 lo. this cheap fix has left thousands of people who spent a lot of money on these expensive vehicles without the best feature of the vehicle, 4 lo. most people buy these jeeps because of their 4wd capability. resale on a vehicle like this has gone right out the window with the loss of this feature. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/n23-recall-issue-no-4-low-1561787/ this site has an outstanding number of complaints about this problem and makes it impossible to deny that chrysler has neglected to take care of the issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received nhtsa campaign number:13v175000 (electrical system, power train) and took the vehicle to the dealer. the dealer was expected to re-flash the final drive controller, which governs the transfer with new software. the vehicle was serviced, but the four wheel drive began to malfunction. the service four wheel driving unit warning light illuminated and the gears would not shift into four wheel drive. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they re-flashed the system. the failure recurred. on another occasion, the gear shifted into four wheel drive and would not shift from the gear. the dealer stated that the actuator motor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure had not recurred until the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under the recall. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000. the vin was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 grand jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the four-wheel drive low indicator light remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who could not diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not been repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number: 13v175000 (electrical system, power train) and was repaired prior to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 99,831. updated 03/05/14*lj

Four months after receiving recall information, and making numerous calls to the dealership about repairs, nothing has been done, not even a return call. i am concerned for the safty of my family. ignition switch problem. p41/nhtsa 14v-438 car shuts off during operation without warning. *tr

I received the safety recall notice n23/nhtsa 13v-175 in the mail and called a local dealership to try to schedule a service appointment to have this corrected. the dealership is don white's timonium chrysler jeep dodge located in cockeysville, md. i called on the phone twice to attempt to schedule this service and was disconnected both times. then, i proceeded to try and schedule an appointment online thru their live chat service and was told that i would be contacted by the service department to confirm my appointment, but i never was. i just thought someone should know the lack of professionalism i experienced and the message i received from this experience is, "we do not want to deal with your safety recall." i have since scheduled an appointment at another local dealership. *tr

I received a recall letter in june 2013 from chrysler recall n23/nhtsa 13v-175 transfer case actuator. stating software was not available just yet to fix. then in august 2013 received a second recall notice explaining that the software is now available for the recall to be resolved. all i have to do is go to a chrysler/dodge/jeep dealership and have the software reprogram the final drive controller module.on august 13/2013 i had the recall serviced at johnson dodge dealership in budd lake nj ( 481 rt 46 budd lake nj 07828). they did service my vehicle for said recall. the next day and everyday since i have a warning light on my dash stating""service 4wd system". i read the car manual and did some trouble shooting, but light still on. i tried to put vehicle into 4wd lo, as instructed by the car manual. result, is doesn't go into 4wd lo, warning message still coming on. i made an appointment (august 22/2013) for the same dealer to inspect this issue because i do believe possibly something was either done incorrectly, or wrong software. end result from second visit to dealer is , my transfer case actuator needs replacing !! ($600 plus tax) . they will replace it, but i feel the two issues are related, and i should not have to pay the bill. the dealer reinspected all above components and stated the software is not working properly with the actuator? so end result is they want to replace the actuator. my original recall letter said i may have a fault in the actuator, but the second letter stated for the new software to fix all. the dealer said thats all they can do! call chrysler and see what they say. tried to call a second dealer, ( dover dodge in randolph & rockaway nj) and still waiting for a call back. i then called a 800# for chrysler a customer hot line (800-992-1997) given to me by dealer, those too, i'm waiting on a resolution. I was driving on a busy road at night approaching a 4 way traffic light intersection. i was going approximately 35-40 mph and the road conditions were dry. suddenly the electric, lights, gauges, steering and braking system in my jeep began flickering and spasming like my jeeps entire electric system was having seizures and was switching power on and off. to the cars ahead of me it looked like i was flashing my lights and the cars behind me as if i was turning my lights on and off rapidly. i pulled off the road into a parking lot and my jeep continued to spasm and flicker on and off. i turned my vehicle off and let it sit in hopes that this issue was a one time electrical glitch and also because i couldn't safely drive it in this condition. i eventually started my vehicle again and began to drive thinking it was alright. within minutes it began doing the same thing again. my vehicle has continued to randomly exhibit this behavior along with additionally all the gauge lights and sounds blinking and chiming for several minutes at a time. i never know when it is going to happen but when it does it is extremely dangerous and scary to be in the vehicle. i only have my ignition key on the key ring but that doesn't seem to make any difference. i have noticed that my ignition switch is extremely sensitive even when initially starting the vehicle. *tr

My 2006 jeep grand cherokee has now started sporadic headlight service. for the last few years i have noticed the dashboard lights dimming for no apparent reason but now the headlights are also cutting in and out. it seems there is no real solution from what i have been reading online and chrysler needs to address this since it is very unnerving to not have headlights while driving at night. *tr

Dash warning lights all come on. vehicle sputters and looses power. did not stall but seemed like it almost did. then all power came back and lights go off. almost seems like the main computer resets. has done it 6 times in last 3 months. mechanic checked it and said there were no codes and could no duplicate while at the shop. feels unsafe to drive since problem is intermittent and happens under various conditions. *tr

All the warning lights on the dashboard will intermittently come on and off. this can happen when i am driving, sitting still, car cold or hot. there is no rhyme or reason to it. when this happens the fan for heat/ac also goes out. i have had it to the dealer multiple times. they tell me there is nothing wrong that they can find. it is dangerous because i also lose the lighting on my instrument panel at night. very distracting. *tr

While driving in normal dry conditions this past evening unexpectedly all my interior gauges and dash electronics started flickering on and off to include the radio, hazard lights and everything inside. at the same time i realized i was also loosing my exterior headlights and also brake control because my car was essentially running but with no electronics. it started making a weird grinding pulsating noise that would accompany the flickering lights. this forced me to exit the road at a gas station. it then stopped and i began driving again only to have it resume shortly. thankfully i was close to my destination and was able to shut the vehicle off for the night. this has happened occasionally in the past couple months during the day but this is my first night experience. i thought it was just a glitch but it is definitely getting worse and has become regular. the next morning i was able start and drive my vehicle to work and it repeated this behavior a couple more times. at days end i went to leave and now my jeep won't start and hasn't for two days. all the electronics come on but when i turn the key it just clicks. i also had this problem in the past but when my mechanic looked at it he was unable to duplicate the problem. *tr

For a few months now & without warning: the dashboard lights, tachometers, heater, and headlights flicker on/off, then go completely off. then if applying the brakes, there is a ferocious grinding noise and loss of steering. engine seems to slow down or not want to shift to next gear while driving. all this happens when there is flickering. seems to happen at random but getting worse. check engine light stays on for a day then disappears. i have video recording of these incidents. vehicle has been checked but "nothing reports" so i am told it cannot be repaired. *tr

While trying to make a turn the cars ignition just quit causing loss of brakes steering have contacted dealer but no parts available as yet. car is definetley unsafe!! *tr

We were driving home last night on a straight section of highway 50 east of carson city nevada and the lights went bright then out then flickered on and off then it was okay. a short time later on the same highway still a straight section it did the same thing, i pulled over, lights went to normal. the traffic was light at the time thank god. this was on a 4 lane highway. the manufacturer should take care of this issue without hesitation and immediately. i have been reading lots of incidents like what we went through. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 45 mph, the dashboard lights shut off and the vehicle started to make a grinding sound before stalling. the contact restarted the vehicle and the check engine light illuminated. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the battery sensor was replaced. the failure recurred. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v428000 (electrical system); however, the parts needed were unavailable to perform the repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

While driving under completely normal conditions, several severe problems occurred simultaneously; interior dash lights started flashing on and off, vehicle started sputtering and became unresponsive when trying to accelerate, grinding sound from left front wheel accompanied the other problems further adding to the vehicle suddenly slowing down while in motion. all warning lights were lit up when flashing stopped, but then a couple of minutes later while i was trying to limp into a parking lot to get the car off the road the dash lights started wildly flashing on and off again and the car continued to be virtually unresponsive when stepping on the gas. after shutting the car off and restarting it, the esp/bas lights remained on for a couple of days, but eventually went out, but the check engine light remained on. the problem happened again on 3/29/2013 while i was driving under normal conditions. it was sudden, unexpected and scary. with the right set of circumstances, it could be devastating and extremely dangerous. once i started doing a bit of online research, i found many jeep forums packed full of owners with the identical model and year of my grand cherokee that are having the same grave issues. it is clearly very widespread for this particular vehicle, and then i found the arfc page and i was astounded at the numbers of owners of my year and model who have also had hair raising incidents who have described the exact set of problems that i have had. chrysler cannot ignore the massive numbers of people who are reporting the same defect issues. it is well beyond the realms of coincidence, and it is too dangerous to ignore. there needs to be a national factory recall asap before somebody gets killed. *tr

Lights shut off and electrical systems fails. this is on recall but dealer will not fix as they say no repair given. *tr

For the last 3 months, both the interior and exterior lights will flicker and then go off. there is no warning before it happens. many times you can turn the light switch off and then on again and everything will be fine. but lately, this does not solve the problem. i have taken it to a jeep dealer to fix but since they can not duplicate the problem, they don't know what to fix. this is a huge safety issue as it has happened at night on a road with no street lights. it also makes the car unable to be seen by others..... an accident waiting to happen. *tr

Pulling away from stop sign my vehicle lost power (stalled out). the lights for park, reverse, neutral, and drive all came on at one time. lost power for about 15 seconds then car starting moving again. this has happened a few times not just the one date listed here. this was the only time i was actually pulling out into traffic. could have caused a major wreck. sometimes it does it while driving down road and i have to pull over to turn car off. when i start it back again it runs fine for a while. ever since this has been happening my airbag light and engine light have been coming on and off all the time. about a year ago, i had to have a speed sensor changed on the transmission cause the car would not shift through gears cost me around $800 because it had to be taken to a transmission service center. are these problems all related? bought this car from a private seller (one owner) well taken care of. all maintenance was up to date when i purchased the car about 1 1\2 years ago. is there any recalls on any of the problems i listed here? *tr

I bought the jeep in feb. 2013 and shortly thereafter, while driving on the interstate, the car just shut itself off and everything went dead. this has happened about 2 dozen times since, sometimes going fast and sometimes going slow or pulling into an intersection. there doesn't seem to be a factor that causes it to happen and the mechanic cannot find anything wrong but it is very dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the vehicle stalled while turning at an unknown speed. the failure occurred twice. during the first occasion, the vehicle stalled and crashed into a curb. the vehicle was able to be restarted. in addition, while making a turn, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle crashed into a guardrail. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) and stated that the remedy was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The latch on the back door makes a buzz or a duck like noise when locks. seat belt does not retract all the way when unfastened. *tr
