I received notice of recall for ignition switch over a year ago. i believe my car experienced this issue on numberous occassions, to which, prior to recall, jeep "couldn't find problem" and would do nothing to reconcile my safety concerns. i could not apply lemon law. i contacted jeep dealer, mystic, ct again after recall notice and they stated they didn't have parts and i would have to wait to be contacted by jeep to repair. my jeep was on highway multiple times when this happened; all of gauges would drop to off position, lights would flash on and off--somehow it would correct itself. upon bringing it to dealership multiple times, it somehow stopped. then incident approximately 2.5 years ago-parking car in lot-everything "locked" including steering and braking-rolled until car stopped on its own-took key out of ignition-waited, restarted and car was fine. don't have exact dates but mystic ct jeep has record of all times car brought in.

I was driving east on the pennsylvania turnpike from pittsburgh, pa to york, pa with my wife and 1 year old daughter on the friday of memorial day weekend. i was driving between 70-75 mph in the left hand lane when i noticed i had lost acceleration, power steering, and all of my interior lights had turned off. the entire vehicle had shut off. this easily could have caused a horrific accident as there was a ton of traffic behind me and on the road. fortunately, i was going down a hill and i was able to maintain speed for enough time to safely drift my car into the right lane and eventually over to the side of the road. once pulled over, i had difficulty shifting my vehicle into park and turning off the ignition. after a few minutes of attempting to shut it off, i was able to get the key out of the ignition. i waited about 5 or so minutes and was able to start the vehicle without a problem. i stayed in the right hand lane the rest of the trip and eventually made it to my destination safely. when i got home, i took the vehicle to three rivers chrysler jeep and dodge in pittsburgh, pa. .i was told i needed to replace the ignition switch and the "wire control module". with all of the recalls in the news regarding chrysler and gm ignition switches, i would not be surprised if this was a defect in jeep as well. the experience i had was very frightening and i hope others do not have the same problems. *tr

I will be going at any speed and my jeep will just die or spit and sputter like its not getting gas then the rpm gauge drops to zero all the dash lights come on. this happens on the highway in the middle of intersection and it happens intermittently so you never know when its going to happen. took it to mechanic and they told me the valve body solenoid was bad. if you search any of this online you will see that there are several people with the same problem this needs to be a recall before someone ends up dead!! *tr

All the lights on my instrument panel started flashing and i lost the ability to see my speedometer, the fan was not blowing and this continued until the lights started flashing. the check 4wd system came on and has stayed on. the check 4wd system light came on not long after i bought it and i took it back to the dealership and i was told that it is because there are aluminum parts that get stuck and you can ignore it. that it was working fine. i rarely use my 4wd system and the check engine light would go off normally after i turned the car off. this started happening more frequently and now the lights flashing on my instrument panel is happening all of the time. the check 4wd system light has stayed on for the last few months. *tr

I bought the vehicle in texas on april 15, 2015 with the purpose of exporting it into canada, where i live. my son and i drove it back to canada and got clearance to import it into canada as per the vehicle import form - form 1 from transport canada ( registrar of imported vehicles case # t 075907). i paid the import fee of $204.75 and the excise tax $100.00 and goods and services tax of $ 408.56 - $508.56 total. when i got to saskatchewan, where live, i tried to get the vehicle licenced and insured only to find out that i could not do that because of an outstanding recall on the vehicle... i went to a chrysler dealership to get the recall taken care of only to find there was no " fix" for the recall and no definite time frame when i could expect to have the recall done and get the vehicle licenced and insured where i live. this leaves me with a dilemma!! i have never heard of a recall where there was no "fix" available before the auto maker announced the recall. i'm stuck!!! fortunately, i still have the vehicle insured with my texas insurer and am driving on the permit from the dealer. i'm not sure how long i can continue to do this legally. it's very unsettling !! as i understand it, any vehicle affected by this recall are still ok to drive if they were bought in usa or canada until a "fix" becomes available but an imported vehicle is not ok! help!!

Random incidents while driving the dashboard will light up with all indicators and gauges go to zero value. i recorded on my cell phone one incident. i had one case that jeep stalled at same time of incident, and i was able to coast to side of road, shut engine off and restart. i discussed this with local dealer and they could not obtain any error code. i called chrysler on one incident and they said they had no known problems reported on my vehicle. dealer said to return next time it happens but i am always not in a convenient place and the dashboard will return to normal status after some time while driving. *tr
I was driving on california state route 20 eastbound in the curves past the omega rest stop, at 6:00 am, when all of the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the instrument lights went out, and several seconds later illuminated again, they when out again and illuminated a third time, at which point the headlights on the car shut off. it was a very frightening event. i was able to flick the steering wheel headlight control and the lights came back on. i immediately took my foot off of the gas when the headlights went out, because i was in a curve section of a mountain highway. luckily, a pull out was a quarter mile ahead and i was able to get off the road. i called aaa roadside assistance and they dispatched a tow truck to tow the car back to grass valley/nevada city. two warning lights remained on the dash until the lights were turned off and the car towed. a light on the upper right with a car and a swag and a light in middle. abs ? at the local repair shop, they found no codes to indicate any type of failure. the car has been taken since to magnussen's jeep dealer in auburn, california and they have been unable to detect any problem. a similar event happened to my husband in 2008 approximately and the repair facility was unable to determine a problem. i have worked in truckee, ca and have commuted to work since 2001 on this road in several vehicles( (including two other jeeps). i have never had a similar incident and i believe it is a serious safety issue. when the repair facility was unable to detect a problem, my husband and i began looking into the problem on this website and others and believe that our incident is not unique and reflects a substantial defect with this vehicle. additionally, our compound low gear has not worked since the last recall was performed at the jeep dealer in roseville, ca

Dashboard lights will randomly start to flash, air conditioning/heating system loses power, and speedometer, tachometer fluctuates erratically. this happens every so often, without warning. thought it was the remote starter, but then it started happening without using the remote starter. it appears that many, many people have had this issue and no recalls have been issued. dealer states they "think" it might be something to do with the ignition, key, ? what that know. they asked me specific questions related to "check engine light" and if the vehicle lost power. it does not lose power, but simply lights flash and it is scary. one time, the headlights flashed off and on until i pulled over and shut engine off and restarted. doesn't always happen, but very scary when it does. hoping this doesn't lead to a more dangerous issue.... jeep needs to get on this issue as mine is, without a doubt, not an isolated incident! *tr

Driving on the highway and the entire dash board lit up, blank a few times, and then went dark. nothing on the dash board was working (no mph, gas gauge, etc.). after a few minutes of blinking and going dark, everything begins to work again, but the check engine light comes on. this exact scenario has happened multiple times. usually the light will stay on from anywhere between 1-5 days and then go away. i have been dealing with this issue for over a year. in once instance, i was driving around the city going 10-15 mph and this scenario happened and the brakes were not working properly and the car was very hard to turn. everytime i have brought the car to the dealer they try to pull a code and nothing is available for them. at this point i am fed up so i am officially reporting the issue. it is completely unsafe to be driving when this happens, especially when you are on the highway. let's hope something is officially done before anyone gets hurt. *tr
