Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2006 Jeep Commander

When i purchased the vehicle the car i had problems with the car it would slow all the way down on the freeway.they would always tell me it was nothing. the last time i took it to them they said it was the gear, only because i purchased a warranty. when i go up a hill or turn my car still slows down. i've been paying for a car that has never operated correctly and i can not afford to just get another one it cheaper to just pay the note. *tr

My check engine light came on in my 2006 jeep commander this is a common problem code 0700 failure of transaxle control module it was a recall for the 4.7 but not the 3.7 it can be lifethreatning for your truck to hesitate while you are merging into traffic something needs to be done. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact was exiting a residential driveway at low speed when the vehicle sputtered abnormally. the failure progressed and the vehicle began to stall without warning when driving at least 55 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was caused by a defect in the air conditioning system. the vehicle was repaired yet the failure persisted. the contact also experienced unintended acceleration and hesitation in the vehicle. most recently, the gear shift selector became stuck in neutral. the contact called the manufacturer and was awaiting a return call. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000 and the current mileage was approximately 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. upon restart, the vehicle operated as normal. the vehicle was taken an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was repaired, by a previous owner, under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module (cm, pcm)). the contact also stated that there was a burning odor coming from the air vents. since the presence of the burning odor, the air conditioner no longer functioned. there was also a failure within the passenger side window, in which the window would roll down when the button was engaged to make the window roll up, and the interior dome lights would involuntarily turn on and off. the vehicle was not taken to be repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

Driving my 2006 jeep commander on 635e in dallas, tx, the car just died going 70 mph with 6 lanes of traffic, and i was in the lane next to the hov lane and it had not shoulder, just a concrete wall. rather that cross 4 lanes of heavy fast traffic with no acceleration in the car, i went into the hov lane which had less traffic and got rear ended but was not a serious wreck as it well could have been. i put my car in park and started it and took the next exit and reported the accident to the police. when i got home i looked up recalls for my jeep and found the v8 engine had a recall on the front control module since the car would stall on the highway. my car is a v6. i took it to the dealership and they could not find anything wrong. i called jeep and they said i should take it to another dealership 50 miles away to "see another doctor to find the problem" in the meantime i have to fix the damage from the rear end collision and thank my luck stars i am still alive to fix it. your campaign number for the recall i referred to is: 08v059000. *tr

Torque converter broke apart causing transmission failure at 45,300 miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while at a stop light, the vehicle suddenly surged forward and then stalled. when the contact examined the vehicle, she noticed that it will shift into the drive gear, and could only be driven in third gear. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the current and failure mileages were 59,000.

Have a 2006 jeep commander. lights have been flickering and car has not wanted to start. found that battery was not holding charge and replaced. now we drive at speed and the engine begins to race while not increasing speed. have taken to dealer in cincinnati, northgate and they reset computer but before we could leave the bay area it started making a grinding noise and the check engine light is back on. they say the are going to have the transmission guy look at it and get back to us. i read hundreds of complaints on your site and the majority of them are describing problems that are very similar over the last 3 years. don't you have enough complaints on this that chrysler should be doing a recall? after all the government is now deeply invested in chrysler. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the failure recurred when driving various speeds and when driving in reverse. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the transmission would have to be replaced or rebuilt. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

While driving the dash lights went out and headlights started flashing on and off. took it to dealer and they found no trouble. the vehicle keeps blowing rear tail light bulbs, and blower motor at times does not work on certain speeds. cigarette lighter/power outlets stopped working even though fuse is good. power windows intermittently stop working. the transmission went out around 62,000 miles. had dealer replace transmission and now at 102,000 miles the transmission will loose drive when shifting into 3rd under moderate acceleration. you then have to pull off the road and put the car in park, then back in drive to regain drive. transmission also "surges" under light throttle conditions at low speeds(10-20mph). i have contacted jeep and their response was that because of the mileage on the vehicle they could do nothing. i feel that the flashing lights and the loss of drive while in traffic are major safety issues. i have been researching this vehicle and found may other owners with the exact same problems. *tr

I have a 2006 jeep limited commander. i bought new. in less than 9,000 miles i had the car in the shop 3 times for transmission issues. then in july 2007 the transfer case had to be replaced, stalling my family in the middle of hwy 71 going 65 mph. after that the hard shifting continued and i took to shop three other times. all that was said is can't duplicate problem. yesterday with 41k miles on the car, all of the gauges went out while driving. no tac, no speed, ac went out. very bad and very dangerous. jeep knows about the transmission issues and will not fix properly. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact was driving 25 mpg when the dashboard lights began flashing and the vehicle unexpectedly stalled. within seconds, the vehicle independently restarted. the contact stated that the failure would occur intermittently. he was able to locate a recall for the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 08v203000: power train: automatic transmission: control module-tcm, pcm) but was advised by the manufacturer that his vin was not included. the manufacturer advised having the vehicle diagnosed by the dealer to determine if the failure was relative to the recall. the dealer advised that the air conditioning system would need to be replaced to correct the failure. the contact did not believe that the air conditioning system was causing the failure. the failure mileage was 62,000.

I have owned a 2006 jeep commander from brand new since june 10 2006. i have had over 5 occurrences of the vehicle stalling when i come to a stop sign, or stop light. almost every time i have reported it to the local jeep dealer. on about the second or third report when i brought it there, they claimed i had carbon build up on the throttle blade which can cause it to stall. that still didn't fix the problem. it has happened a few more times, and it has happened today. i googled jeep commander stalling and there was a forum with this link in it. also the transmission is delayed in engaging at certain times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. when idling all of the warning lights on the instrument control panel would illuminate, and then the vehicle would stall. the dealer stated the manifold sensor, and pressure sensor failed. since the vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id number: 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, pcm)), she would have to pay over $300.00 for repairs. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000. the current was 43,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. in may of 2006, the contact began experiencing issues with the transmission and electrical system in his vehicle. the vehicle would not change gears and the instrument panel lights were constantly illuminated. he took the vehicle to the dealer three times and they reprogrammed the computer, which allowed the vehicle to perform normally for a while. on april 25, 2008, the vehicle shut off and remained locked in third gear while driving 10 mph. the contact was able to drive the vehicle to his residence. the dealer stated that there was no recall. previously, the contact took the vehicle to a repair shop to be diagnosed and was informed that the control module failed; however, the dealer continues to state that there is no failure. the failure mileage was 18,166 and current mileage was 85,000.

Recall notice from chrysler. took commander into shop for repair. after 4 hours, technician stated that unable to download program from corporate computer to fix. need to bring car back later. this is the second time for a recall, and our car has been in there a total of 4 times for safety issues such as broken seat belts. it has been there a number of other visits, starting at 2555 miles, for defective windshield mount, defective gas fill line mount, and defective windshield wiper fluid pump. previous hazards were handled, but resulted in a good number of days of at least 6 hour services. now, after 4 hours, this service is not completed and i have to bring the car back again. *tr

Bought vehicle 3/31/06 new now has 60,000 miles. the vehicle has had numerous instances with stalling while driving. all the instrument panel lights will light up and headlights will switch on/off to high beams on their own. will lose powersteering and there seems to be a change in acceleration. on march 20th i was traveling at approx 30 miles per hour and lost power but the instrument panel lights did not go off as usual. i pulled off the road and parked vehicle. had my step-father come to assist and he stated there car didn't seem to want to go gear properly, assumed this was due to the prior "electrical" problems and drove commander to dealership approx. 1 mile away. was told there was a plug in the transmission leaking where the electrical wires enter, cost to repair $430. after completing those repairs was told the transmission is destroyed and needs replaced at $3500. chrysler is not offering any assistance to an obvious manufacturer issue. stated i knowingly drove a vehicle with low transmission fluid and am negligent. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. while driving 65 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings. as a consequence there was an increased risk for a vehicle crash. the vehicle was towed to a local repair facility, in which a mechanic stated that the transmission caused the failure. no repairs were made. the current and failure mileages were 60000.

While merging onto the highway when i try to accelerate there is not power. there is boxes around all gears (prnd). the display flash "service park assist". then check engine light comes on. called chrysler said to take to dealer and find out what the repair will be. dealer said it was a u0404 code invalid data received from gear shift control module and a p0700 code transmission control system. this module is $700 and chrysler said it was helping me out and doing me a favor by letting me just pay $200. i have found this exact problem mentioned on multiple jeep forum sites. my parents have replaced the same part and my brother is having the same problems now. i've talked with chrysler asking why i should have to pay for a part that is malfunctioning in a unsafe manner and was told it hasn't been recalled yet. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled numerous times while driving 20 mph and the check engine light illuminated during the failures. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop, who stated that the failure was due to the pcm. an authorized dealer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v203000 (power train: automatic transmission: control module (tcm, pcm)). the contact also stated that water penetrated the front passenger door handle and soaked the floor. the windows would also not roll up or down. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current 70,000.

2006 jeep commander with 5.7l hemi stalls while driving at all levels of speed without warning. all power is lost, and i had two instances of this occur within one week while making a left turn. three visits to the dealer via tow truck in two weeks and after i was told it was done yesterday, six miles into my ride home, it happened again. this is a life threatening situation. build date is 5/06. all tsbs have been applied to no avail. need help!! *tr

While driving, there is a loud grinding noise coming from front drivetrain(?). vehicle bucks and engine shuts off. electrical power also shuts off. this is the third occurrence of such an incident, and all the info submitted here pertains to this 3rd incident. *tr

My 2006 jeep commander stalls. i purchased the vehicle 2 months ago and the jeep has stalled around 10 times to date. i took the commander to barton jeep here in spokane...they said they "flashed" the computer. they said this should fix the problem. nope! stalled 3 times in the last week (which is when we got the jeep back from barton jeep). my concern is that my wife could get into a serious accident if the vehicle decides to stall on the freeway or somewhere else. please help me! *tr

On several occasions the jeep's engine has completely shut off while driving down the highway. the jeep has been taken to several dealerships but no problems have shown up on the computer diagnostics, so service techs won't touch it. this is very unsafe, chrysler will do nothing with the v6 only the v8.

Had cruise control set to 65 mph on the freeway. out of nowhere the car began accelerating on its own to reaching speeds of 85 mph. if cruise control is turned on now it accelerates on its own and i ma not able to control the speed at all. have taken car to dealership but they say nothing is wrong. front windshield leaks and lets in too much air. i should not have to pay for repairs since it is a defect. driver side window does not go down. now rear passenger side window is starting to get stuck. have replaced driver side switch and the problem still exists. front passenger window goes down but the driver side which has controls to all the windows does not work for any of the windows. my car accelerates on its own on a daily basis. it can go from 35 mph to uncontrollable speeds. taken to dealership several times but they never find the problems. dealership cant even figure out what is wrong with the electrical windows. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the vehicle was parked in the driveway with the gear shifter in the park position. the contact exited the vehicle and it suddenly began to roll without assistance. the vehicle failed to slow down and rolled approximately 1,500 feet across the street, down a hill, and crashed into a deck at another residence. the vehicle turned onto its side. there was an occupant in the rear passenger seat. the air bags failed to deploy with the massive impact. the failure occurred without warning. the occupant sustained minor injuries and there was personal property damage. the vehicle was completely destroyed. the police and ambulance were called to the scene and a police report was filed. the failure and current mileages were 60,000. updated 03/18/09. *lj updated 03/19/09. *jb

Additional problems reference odi complaint #10244597. received car back from dealership ran fine for two weeks. the car is now stalling on the highway at 40 mph near our home. thank god i was able to get the car to the side of the road. then the park assist service light came on and went off again. i got the car home. my husband took it out. the transmission was slipping and not shifting into higher gear. today taking the kids to the bus it stalled again. when i was able to restart, i put my foot on the gas and the car hesitate, almost causing an accident. i have pretty much decided on voluntary repossession, as my kids are worth more than the deficient balance. *tr

My truck has been experiencing "extreme idling" after the powertrain control module (pcm) was re-programmed 2 months ago. my truck revs up and down very fast, so much, while in park, or stopping at a red light, that it is causing my truck to burn alot of gas faster. i still experience my truck stalling while making turns, which completely turns off the truck's power, which causes me to lose control steering. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated that he heard a grinding noise from under the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the power of the engine was too powerful for the transmission and the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred three more times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000.

Received a notice for a computer software recall in my jeep commander. # weeks later the cars stalls while driving losing all control. took it in again updated software. driving in maine 55 mph whole system shut down while driving. restarted after 10 min. stalled and shut down again. towed to jeep dealer in maine. now i am renting a car to get home then will have to come back and pick up my car. this is not just a simple recall i could have been killed or have killed someone else on the highway. i am getting rid of this vehicle as soon as possible. *tr

Our 06 jeep commander has been a nightmare since the day we purchased it used with 14k miles on it in 3/07. we continue to have problems with the dash lights coming on, stalling just today 7/22- the lights lit up and the air conditioner quit working!!! no fan no blower... nothing. it has been brought in for the recall for this but it keeps happening. oh and did i mention that autopark jeep in cary, nc sold me a lemon/buyback.... they gave me the carfax report after 30 visits to the service dept.... fool me once, fool me twice... i am hoping that jeep will buy it back again for this complete lemon!! i know have 37k on it and the service dept was talking that they did not know if jeep would cover the work.... they can keep it.. *tr

This is an update of my previous post. my 2006 3.7 liter commander 4x4 has been at the dealer since monday the 7th. when i took it in it had been stalling now and then, the engine light was on and the display "service park assist" had came on the day before i took it in. on the way to the dealer, it shut down no breaks, steering, nothing. the dealer tested it and said it gave them a code u1400 which was the tcm module. they replaced it and told me to come and get it on june 9th. i picked it up and on the way home, going up a slight incline about a block fro the dealer, it shut down again, and started rolling backward down the hill, and all i could do was pull the emergency break and pray that it still worked, it did. after three tries, i got it started and took it back to the dealer, who put a computer on it as soon as i got there, they told me i would have to get a ride home, and the next day called and said it needed ecm module, they also told me that they contacted chrysler and they had a 1000 piece backlog on them. i asked them what i should do for transport, and they told me i should call chrysler because the car was unsafe to drive. they also told me that there had been a major recall on the 2006 4.7 liter commander for the same problem, but not the 3.7 models. the dealership has been great, but chrysler has been unreal to deal with, they simply do not care about the customer, and have been no help. i called the dealer today to let them know that chrysler told me the part would be ready for delivery on july 18th, but my guess is that if there's 1000 backordered, it will be some time before i will get mine. i guess we will see. *tr

I bought my 2006 jeep commander in 2006 as a demo with 18,000 miles on it. i really didn't drive it that much as you can tell by the mileage on it and it has only had three oil changes. when it reached about 20,000 miles it stalled on my way to work and i called and spoke to a tech where i bought the car, he told me that i had probably gotten some bad gas. then two weeks ago it stalled again and the engine light came on for a day, then it went out. it came on again and stayed on and it continued to stay on, and "service park assist" displayed on the dash. the dealer where we bought the car is 20 miles from where we live so i made an appointment with a dodge dealer about 3 miles from my home. on monday july 7th when driving there for the appointment, i was making a left hand turn and it shut down, no brakes, no steering, no lights on the dash, nothing. i got to the side of the road and it re-started after 3 tries. i made it to the dealer and they called my today and said it was ready and they had to install a tcm module. i went to pick it up, and on the way home, it did the same thing again, the only thing it didn't do was display the engine light, but the stalling and the "service park assist" came back on. i took it back to them and they hooked it back up to the computer and told me i needed to find a way home and they would call me tomorrow. they didn't know what was wrong with it yet. *tr

I purchased my 2006 jeep commander 3.7 4x4 in 2007 as a demo. it had 18,000 miles on it when i bought it and now is has 28,000. i have not driven it very much as you can tell by the mileage, and it has only had to have two oil changes (every 3,000 miles) and is almost due for another. i have been having issues for three weeks now, 1. first it stalled in traffic when i was doing about 30 mph. 2. the engine light came on and stayed for a day, went off and came back on two days later and has been on since. 3. when driving, the car will shift really hard into second gear for no reason. on the 3rd of july it started doing all sorts of weird shifts and stalls, i made an appointment with the dealer tomorrow, and i have not driven it since the 3rd of july because i am worried about breaking something. *tr

I own a 2006 jeep commander. i got notice for a recall on it, recall h19 about bad software programmed into the powertrain control module. i took it in and 2 days later my transmission locked into 3rd gear. i'm not a mechanic but i do know that the transmission is powertrain. i took it in to get check and they said i need a new solenoid which gets its signal to switch gears from the powertrain control module. they won't cover it though. i called jeep and they also said they won't cover it. i ask the garage if they could change it back to the way it was before the recall and they said no. my jeep was running fine before i brought it in for the recall. anyways after arguing with everyone about it i gave up and decided i'll pay for it, but come to find out, a transmission solenoid pack for jeep commanders are on factory backorder and don't know when they'll get the part. so that goes to say that alot of jeep commanders transmission solenoids are going bad. i was driving when the transmission locked into 3rd gear, the vehicle gave us a jerk when it shifted down to 3rd gear, from then on it wouldn't go into another gear. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer on june 6, 2008 to have campaign id number 08v203000 power train: automatic transmission: control module (tcm, pcm) recall repair performed. the repair did not correct the failure. while driving 45 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to coast off of the road and apply the emergency brake. the failure occurred several times. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer repeatedly for the failure. the dealer reprogrammed the computer, replaced the ignition switch, and the map sensor was replaced twice. the repair did not correct the failure and the vehicle continued to stall without warning. the manufacturers report 20824940 was filed and they stated they would like the opportunity to repair the vehicle, but would not replace the vehicle or give the contact her money back. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 51,493 and the current mileage was 115,000.

2006 chrysler jeep commander---- for two years now it has an idle issue, car acts like its going to stall ,rpm gauge fluctuates when this occurs, have given chrysler 11 opportunities to fix this problem, and they do not have a fix. filed lemon, was told by the board my vehicle has a condition, however does not qualify as a lemon. also has a shudder in transmission accelerating between 30 and 40 mph. *tr

on several occasions while driving my 2006 jeep commander all of a sudden it will lose power and the dash warning lights will start flashing. i try stepping on the accelerator to get it to go, but it does not respond, this will last for about 15 seconds or so then the vehicle will regain power, the dash lights will stop flashing, but, the esp/bas lights stay on for a longer time. and the one with the vehicle and skid marks. on one occasion the vehicle stalled out completely'.and turned off i had to maneuver through traffic to coast to the side of road to restart the engine'although the 2 lights remained on the vehicle did go. *tr the consumer was informed the problem was with the pcm and that it had to be reflashed. the consumer discovered there was a recall for the exact problem she was experiencing. updated 08/13/08

Replaced bezel gear selector 3 times since 2006. as of september 2016 a 4th replacement is required per golling chrysler. vehicle attempts to stall after 1-2 seconds when starting from a stopped position. the check engine light illuminates and a service message appears stating "service park assist system." several times from 2006 - 2016 the vehicle almost stalled when entering intersections of city streets. whenever condition occured the part was replaced (3 times). part causing the conditions is part# ch68004143-af prndl bezel gear selector and ch52108308-ac connector electrical (transmission). i believe the gear selector and transmission to be defective due to the frequent failure which could cause a safety incident.

November 24 evening leaving fuji (children in car) november 30 morning on way to work ? hit mailbox (baby in car) december 5 morning on way to work ? dies turning out of subdivision and stalls in middle of street (baby in car) there was one other instance when i had all kids with me?it was prior to nov 24 but i do not recall the actual date all of the instances the engine stalled, the lights (when on) went out, i lost the ability to steer and brake as well. the mph ranged from 4 or 5 mph to 35 mph. there were times when it was warm and days that it was cold. nothing seemed to standout as a possible "trigger" i took car to dealer after the november 24th incident. tony in the service department said there was really nothing that they could do unless it was a problem they could "make happen" when they drove it. a few days later i wrecked into a mailbox when my jeep stalled and i lost steering and braking capability....i am lucky it was not head on with a large truck or a tree. *tr

I bought the 2006 commander used in august of 2007 with 13,000 miles on it. it ran great, no complaints. in the winter-time, i noticed when i started it after it had been sitting for several hours, then put it in gear, stepping on the gas pedal would do nothing but rev the engine. a few seconds later it would kick into gear and go. i contacted the dealership who said it just needs time to warm up, it's winter and the car is cold. when spring rolled around this was still occurring. one day i was traveling down a hill, heard a big clunk and then the gear shift would only register 3, 4 and 5. no 1 or 2. i brought it in and they replaced the solenoid. the problem didn't come back right away but came back eventually. i've had the problem ever since december of 2007 and on monday i'm taking it in for the 4th time to drive with yet another technician so they can guess at what the problem may be. problem is, i'm at 35,400 miles. once i hit 36k i'm sure they'll discover the problem and then i'll have to pay for it. *tr

I have experienced 3 separate accidents on may 31 2006, august 2 2006 and september 20 2007 with the 2006 jeep commander limited. i had just left the stop sign in the first accident and proceeded into the intersection of a 2-way stop. my vehicle stalled and i collided with a grand am. the driver of that vehicle has filed a civil action against me in which metlife auto & casualty has hired an attorney to represent me. i was found to be primarily at fault for this accident. the lawsuit is claiming i was negligent. the second accident occurred when i was turning around to get a better "shot" into a private driveway. i successfully turned around in a parking area across the street from the driveway and i was in the process of entering the driveway when my vehicle stalled and my driver side front bumper was struck, breaking the tie rod. the police and the other party's insurance found the other driver who was 93 to be at fault for the accident. the third accident occurred on september 20 2007, when i was attempting to turn left on a green light from a turn lane. i was in the process of turning left when another driver who was speeding collided with my vehicle which had stalled during the left hand turn. the passenger front bumper was damaged including a broken tie rod. the other driver's insurance has determined i am primarily at fault for that accident. *tr

I purchased my 2006 jeep commander in oct. 2005 from mccune chrysler jeep in national city, ca. initially, i started noticing my brakes shimmying as i came to a stop. i reported to my dealership a few times but no good came out of it. then, last thursday, sept. 13, i noticed my dashboard lights (electrical system, brakes and transmission lights) flashing on and off as i accelerated from a stop and headed uphill. it felt as though the jeep wanted to stop and go at the same time. i reported it to my dealership and brought in the vehicle the next week. the dealership quoted me $190 to analyze it (since my jeep was about 8,000 miles beyond the warranty period). then, they told me that it would cost me over $400 to repair the vehicle even though they did not know what was wrong with it. i began to research the internet about recalls on this make and model and found that chrysler had issued a recall on friday, sept. 14, 2007. i printed the article and brought it to my service rep at mccune. the rep insisted that it was not my problem and that his dealership had not heard of a recall on my make and model. so, i called chrysler's customer service department in oak ridge, tn. the representatives there insisted that there was no recall. frustrated, i accepted the dealerships offer to repair my vehicle. they quoted me a $100 deductible to place the vehicle under warranty. as i drove off, the same thing happened all over again. i called the service advisor and explained what had happened. he insisted that he test drove the vehicle and the lights never came on. i didn't believe him. i feel that he mislead me and that his dealership never repaired my vehicle. i will bring my vehicle back to mccune monday morning (9/24/07) and i will see what will happen. i paid for a rental vehicle last week (over $100 and the dealership never offered to cover my expenses. i am so frustrated. *tr

Commander started to have dash problems, such as transmission light s would surround all be circled or boxed with a square light so i would not know what was going on in 2007 this went on for years. i would pull over and stop put the jeep in park or try to put back into drive but it would really be in neutral and then it would jump into drive or 1st or 2nd and could not get back out unless i turned vehicle off then i would be lucky to get the vehicle to go into gear, and when it would go into get it would jump and make a loud noise and scare the pants off of me. then the vehicle would run like knew for a few weeks with no problems and then same conditions applied, could go for months, or a year and then same conditions happened again. if i took the problem to a jeep dealer they would say it would have to be having problem in order for them to diagnose. the chrysler would not pay for my recalled commander 2006, even though i had already had a jeep dealership in bloomington mn., fix the condition on 12/21/12. i also had the same problem 0n 8/8/2012 in cloquet mn.., and at stillwater motors 06/30/07, all jeep dealerships chrysler call center said, once the recall came out chrysler said i am out of luck. my jeep commander was jumping into gear any gear and is the same problem they are reporting. please help me access my recall so i can recover my funds. chrysler, has on 3 calls said my 2006 commander is not on their list. *tr

I won a 2006 jeep commander and had some major problems, most notiably transmission failures and stalling while driving. the problem had picked up. jeep denied there was a problem., but the dealership staff was seeing this alot. last week i was driving with my family on a winding road in the mountains with a boat in tow and the vehicle stalled. thankfully, i was able to pull to the side and not go over the edge. then, today it happened again in traffic at 40 mph. i had to put in neutral while driving and restart. please do something. the dealer would not help, and said it wa s jeep's problem. the jeep representative stated they do not have a problem with stalling. *ak

From new, i have noted an issue with the transmission of my commander when stopped on an incline. the vehicle drifts backward unless you apply the brake. several times i have left it drift a foot or so to see if it would stop drifting, but it was usually not safe to let it continue. obviously applying the brake is the normal thing you would do when stopped at a stop sign or traffic light anyway, so i didn't consider it a real problem. i reported it to my dealership, and they checked the tcm for any errors or problems, claiming they found none. i asked if they could please check it again, test drive it, etc., and they reported that after further investigation into service bulletins or issues they saw a recommendation based on a number they found on the transmission or tcm that a "flash" of the tcm should be performed. they report that this was done. today, upon receiving the vehicle back from the dealership, i tested the vehicle to see if this condition had been fixed. today i found a safe location to test, and this time i let the vehicle continue to drift backward. to my surprise, it continued to drift for about 15 feet, and the vehicle actually stalled. i did this twice with the same results. i have not had any incidents or accidents related to this issue, but i do feel that it is not correct behavior and believe it should be investigated. i cannot really even think of any situations where this would cause an accident unless there was a brake failure or something, or if the vehicle couldn't be restarted after a stall. i am just reporting this very odd behavior for an automatic transmission. i can re-create this problem at any time.

Car frequently stalls. dealer has been unable to fix it. ongoing for several months. the car has been in at least five times for this problem. *jb
