Problems with 2010 Ford Fusion ENGINE

On average, the 2010 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 60 342 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

First incident happed as i was leaving my sub-division, i slowed down to make turn and the car lost power, no acceleration. i pulled over to the side of the road turn the ignition off and restarted car and went on my way with no further issues. second time it happen i was taking the car to the ford dealership to see if there was an issue with my car and why is was losing power. i started to pull away from light and the car jurked then lost power. i had to turn off car and restart the engine. ford dealership replace throttle body assembly said that was the issue. *tr

Advisory mechanical wrench lit up on dash - loss all acceleration power. had to coast off side of road and place transmission in park - and turn off low idle engine. this occurred 3 x's all similar this same day. prior, had complained to auto dealership about 1st couple incidents (approx) 4 other times; they indicated they found no issue. i will have codes read 1st thing in the morning, by autozone looking for p2111 and p2112 - then take it to the dealership. this is very unsafe - and now i am worried to have my wife drive alone with this vehicle. its our only car. *tr

The first incident occurred a few months ago. as i was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench light came on. i rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. in park, the engine began to shake so, i turned the vehicle off. after a minute i turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. yesterday (4/30/13), the car stalled again. this time i was going 40 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. i turned off the engine and restarted the car. i was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. this time the check engine light came on, and i was unable to operate the vehicle above 900 rpms. i had the car towed to a ford dealership who said i needed a new throttle body assembly. the car had around 38,000 miles at the time of incident. upon research, i discovered this is a know problem, and ford has yet to issue a recall to prevent future crashes and injury. something needs to be done!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving at 65 mph. the wrench light illuminated after the failure occurred. the contact was able to coast to the shoulder. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed but the dealer found transmission fluid had leaked at the driver front tire area and also stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the dealer replaced the transmission and the brake fluid but the failure was not corrected. the contact also wanted to state that the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for unknown electrical failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was vehicle 57,000. updated 08/27/13*lj the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle lost power to the wheels and the ability to steer became very difficult. the accelerator pedal became unresponsive. she was able to get to vehicle over to the side of the road, after she pulled over, the vehicle began to shake before she turned the engine off. also, the wrench indicator light illuminated.

I was driving my 2010 ford fusion on the interstate, at approximately 70 miles per hour, when i started feeling it "surge". it was in cruise control at the time, and it felt like it was surging up a couple of mph over the set point, and then falling back a couple of mph below the set point. it was like the cruise was hunting for the set speed. suddenly, there was a lurch and i lost all power from the engine. cruise disconnected and i started coasting down rapidly. there was very nearly a rear-end collision with the guy behind me as i was losing speed so quickly. there was a yellow wrench icon lit on my dashboard, but no check engine light. i managed to cost over to the right shoulder. when i stopped and put it in park, the engine ran extremely roughly. it stumbled and missed like it wasn't getting any air. i shut the engine off, waited a minute, refired it, and it ran perfectly. we continued our trip and had it looked at when we got back. or local ford dealer said "there are no stored codes, it didn't do it for us, and there isn't anything wrong." this has happened several times to me and every time the dealer says the same thing. 2 minutes worth of googling shows that there seems to be a massive problem with the throttle bodies that ford has on these cars. we need a recall! we could have been injured or killed in a wreck on the interstate when this happened. *tr

Date of incident or crash was 4/18/2013, not on april 18, 2012 as was previously stated... *tr

i was driving down the road, when suddenly my car began to shake. i noticed the wrench light came on before the car came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. i then had my vehicle towed to the dealership to be evaluated. they said they couldn't find anything wrong, because the wrench light was out. i thought that was very strange because a car just doesn't stop and loose power for no reason. i took their word for it and continued to drive the vehicle. on april 19, 2013, i was driving to work when my car began to shake, this time the wrench light and the engine light came on before my vehicle came to an abrupt stop. unlike the first incident, i was almost in a terrible accident. the cars behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting each other including the back of my car. i was furious because i felt the ford service department put my life in danger by not looking into the problem from the first incident. i had my car towed a second time, this time they diagnosed the problem as a defected throttle body. they explained they cant diagnose a problem without a code, even though i told them about the wrench light and the power loss of my vehicle. i hope ford take care of the throttle body issue before someone is seriously injured. my safety was in danger because of this malfunction. *tr

This has happened several times. as i am driving down the road both accelerating or at a constant speed, the wrench light will come on and the vehicle with no longer have throttle abilities. i have to pull off to the shoulder of the road because nothing works. as the vehicle stops and i shift into neutral, the vehicle shakes excessively. i shut the vehicle off, wait a minute, turn it back on and the wrench is gone and the vehicle runs properly until the next occurrence. ford has been notified about this for years and refuses to put out a recall on the throttle body which is the problem. *tr

The check engine light comes on along with a wrench light. the car no longer accelerates and starts stopping. when the brake is applied it starts shaking. it has happened a few times since the first occurrence with the last on the expressway with my daughter driving. she as traveling in the left lane when the car stopped accelerating and eventually came to a stop. she managed to somehow get it over to the right shoulder as it was dying and shaking. i have done some research and this appears to be a known defect with the throttle body. i took the car in and there is a national back order on the part so it can't be repaired immediately. it seems if this is a known issue and can be extremely dangerous that there should be a recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. after the vehicle sat for a considerable amount of time it was restarted and operated as designed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but no cause for failure was found. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileage was 43,000.

I was driving the car on the highway, and the car engine died. i was in the middle lane and had to coast to the right shoulder in heavy traffic. i took my car to my mechanic since the car was no longer under warranty. he cleaned the injectors and throttle body. it appeared to fix the car. however, a few days later the car died again, but this time i was on a tollway in heavy traffic going 70 mph. i had to clear one lane of traffic to make it to the shoulder without power. i had to be towed immediately by the tollway authorities, because it is dangerous being stalled on the shoulder. my mechanic now tells me that the throttle body needs to be replaced. this is apparently a very common problem with this ford. *tr

Since this vehicle was made with no gas cap my engine light is always on. any little bit of dirt i drive yet gets into the seal of the gas tank so my engine light pops on and states there is some sort of leak in the system. i can't afford to keep taking it in to pay and arm and a leg for the dealership just to blow out the seal. so my engine light is always on. this is a very dangerous problem because you never know if there is an actual problem with the vehicle or if it's just that dirt in the seal of the gas tank. big mistake by ford and they should fix it or they will definitely lose my business...which i've been ford loyal since i was old enough to drive. i will also deter anyone else i know from buying for just for the capless gas tank feature!!!!! *tr

My 2010 fusion is experiencing the same loss of power issues (complete loss of accelerator response, followed by the wrench light appearing) related to the defective throttle body control. while sporadic at first, the frequency of the incidents has increased to where failure now happens almost every time the car is driven (the 25+ failures have occurred in all situations, at all speeds: at highway speeds, on side streets, accelerating up hills, pulling away from stoplights, etc). i have stopped driving the car because the last throttle failure occurred as i crossed a busy 4 lane highway and could've resulted in a deadly accident. when attempting to have the problem fixed in april, my local dealer claimed ford had placed a "hold" on all throttle bodies and that a new design of the throttle body part was being shipped from the supplier in mid-may. (the dealer also informed me that, despite this being a part of the engine, the throttle body is not covered by the powertrain warranty.) when my "new" throttle body arrived at the dealership in mid-june and i came in to have the part replaced, i was told ford had placed another "hold" on the part and my car could not be serviced at this time. if ford will not fix this problem on their own, it is imperative the nhtsa protect consumers by forcing the company to address this problem and to do so at no cost to the car owners. for owners who are forced to drive this car, this is a life and death issue. *tr

Two days ago my car stalled without warning, i lost all acceleration, and then the check engine light came on. i was able to safely pull to the side. i turned off the car and was able to start up after a few minutes. today while on the interstate, in the middle lane, during rush hour traffic, my engine suddenly stalled again and the check engine light came on. luckily again, i was able to put on my hazard lights and coast to the side of the highway. i am grateful traffic was moving slowly and it did not happen when i was traveling at a faster speed. the engine started back up after a few minutes. i will be taking it to the dealership in the morning. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 65 mph a wrench illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. the contact shut the vehicle off and restarted it. the wrench was no longer illuminated and the contact drove home. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated if the wrench was not illuminated they could not diagnose the failure. the dealer did not diagnose nor repair the vehicle. the contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. the failure mileage was 120,000. the vin was not available.

While driving loose power, have to stop and shut off and restart vehicle to get throttle response back. had to have throttle body replaced. there are several cases of this listed on internet. should be the same issue as in your investigation pe13003. i would like to be kept informed if this turns into a recall, as i would like ford to reimburse me for the cost of replacing the throttle body. *tr

Driving and car sputtered and lost power. wrench light came on. pulled off onto shoulder. turned car off. restarted car and tried to drive again and same thing happened. had car towed to the dealer and found that throttle motor was not responding. dealer replaced throttle body and motor. could have been very dangerous if happened on the highway at higher speeds. *tr

In moderate traffic on i385, traveling at 60 mph, without any warning signs there was a sudden "clunk" and the engine lost power. weather was clear and sunny with an outside air temperature of 64 deg. f. pavement was dry. with my wife and two grandchildren in the car i had to cross two lanes of moderate traffic to safely get to the breakdown lane. some cars around me had to make avoidance maneuvers. not good! once i got stopped in the breakdown lane with the emergency flashers activated, i determined that the engine was still running with the rpm surging between approximately 700 and 1500 rpm. i was able to drive in the breakdown lane to an exit ramp at approximately 5 mph with the car jerking forward with the change in rpm. the "wrench" light was on but no "check engine" light. once on the exit ramp i turned the engine off and attempted to re-start it. after a long cranking cycle the engine re-started and ran normally. there was no "wrench" or "check engine" light after the re-start. the car ran normally on the trip home (approx. 10 miles). the engine is a 3.0 liter, v-6 with "flex fuel" capability. *tr

Stopped for light started to go car started jerking and rough idle could only go about 2-4 mph was able to get to side of road turned off fro several min. than restarted ran fine for about 8-10 miles than same. got it dealer they replace throttle body. *tr

After driving for ~20 minutes and the engine warming up, the engine will surge when coming to a complete stop after braking. there is also a smell of gas. immediately after refueling, the engine is difficult to start. once started it runs rough for a few seconds and wants to lurch away. *tr

I had just stopped at a stop light and when it turned green, i proceeded to the ramp to get on the interstate when my 2010 ford fusion suddenly lost power and started shaking violently. i managed to get to the other side of the road and coasted into a parking lot. it took 3 times of trying to re-start it. finally started and taking all side roads, i made it home. it has happened numerous times since then, but last friday, june 14, 2013, i had left the grocery store with a trunk full of groceries, and had to make a left turn onto the hwy. it died on the turn and shook worse than ever. i managed to once again coast to the other side of the road into a parking lot. this happened at least 7 or 8 times before i got home that day. it has scared me so bad, i am now afraid to drive my car. *tr

This is in regards to nhtsa action number: pe13003 my fusion was having stalling problems leaving my neighborhood. it would act as though there wasn't enough fuel but not enough to stall out. the engine would shake like crazy and throw the entire car into a shake that was incredibly strong. i would have to stop, park and shut off the engine to get it to stop. this happened at least twice a week leaving the house in the morning on my way to work. once it shook so hard i thought it might tear the engine mounts right out of the car. i took the vehicle to mullinax ford of apopka where they had to replace the throttle body. they claimed it was not under warranty as it isn't a "mechanical" engine part, that it was an electronic component. *tr

Driving down the freeway at about 65 miles per hour when the car dies and starts a violent shake. luckily there wasn't much traffic and i could pull off to the side of the road with my three kids, if it would have been busy there would have been an accident. i have read alot of complaints about this problem with the 2010 ford fusions is it going to take a couple deaths for them to recall this car for the problem. it has happen to me three times now once when i was going about 35. i think ford needs to recall these vehicles and fix them before somebody gets killed if they haven't already. *tr

While driving on a major roadway at 50 mile per hour, the vehicle suddenly shuts down, almost stalling, and i am unable to start vehicle for several minutes. *tr

Traveling approximately 45 mph during rush hour traffic the 'wrench' light illuminated, the vehicle lost power and the engine began idling very rough. fortunately i was able to get out of traffic and pull off to the side of the road. the engine was idling very rough ~900-1200 rpm and was unresponsive when i pushed the gas pedal (almost to the floor). once stopped i turned the engine off, waited approximately thirty seconds and restarted the engine. the warning light was extinguished and the engine operated normally. i accelerated back to traffic speed and within five minutes experienced the exact same thing. i pulled over, turned off and back on the vehicle and again the light extinguished and the car ran normally. two more times within a thirty minute period the vehicle experienced the same thing. en route to the ford dealer the next day i had the same thing occur three additional times during the ten mile drive to the dealer. each incident was identical. the dealer found no codes (since the light had cleared when i turned the car off and on) and hooked up an incident recorder. i experienced the same shut down three additional times and captured them on the recorder - upon return to the dealer the next day they still did not have any codes to investigate (?) the dealer 'thought' they knew what the problem was (even though they "hadn't seen anything like this before") and replaced the throttle body. since replacement i have not had any additional mishaps. i'm glad i did not cause an accident due to the sudden loss of power but, as i explained to the dealer, i felt that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. i hope they fix this issue asap - there needs to be a recall and soon! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving at unknown speeds and turning left. the driver was able to restart the engine. the vehicle was driven to the contact's home. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 86,500.

While driving on i-49 so., approx. 60 mph in peak morning traffic, the engine stalled. luckily i was able to pull over to the shoulder. noticed a "wrench" icon lit on dash. turned off engine and after a few minutes, re-started engine. all clear on dash, so continued on to work. called hub city ford and brought car in the next morning. the "throttle body" was changed. no other warning or lights came on. *tr

The vehicle will at times appear to lose power and go into "limp home mode". a non-dealer diagnostic revealed a "p2111" error code for "throttle actuator control system - stuck open". this symptom has occurred multiple times at multiple rates of speed, resulting in dangerous conditions. the dealer has so far refused to replace what appears to be a defective part. *tr

While driving home the vehicle lost all acceleration and the wrench light came on. the rpms dropped to below 1000. i was able to safely pull over where the car shook and died out. i attempted to restart the vehicle and it would not start. i waited a few minutes and was able to get it started. *tr

On feb 13 2013 i was driving and the car nosed over, slowed to approx 8mph, with engine surges of up to 1500 rpm, after several restarts it ran normally. on feb 17 2013 it did the same exact thing, i stopped and restarted the engine several times in the 40 minute drive of 3 miles back home but that did not help. after the car set for several hours it started and ran correctly. research on the internet showed hundreds of the same problem and replacing the throttle body corrected the trouble. on feb 18, 2013 i took it to the ford dealer and from only my description was told that the throttle body was the problem, they had 3 in stock and my three year warranty has expired on feb 21, 2013, less than a month out of warranty and it would not be covered so i drove the car back home, i called a different ford dealer who sold me the throttle body at a discount. it took me about ten minutes to install the throttle body, and the car is still running as it should. *tr

Loss of power at highway speed. vehicle decelerated and would only idle. wrench symbol lit. shut car off restarted and car was ok until next incident. failures became more frequent including failures in rush hour highway traffic. additional failures occurred at slower speed. diagnostic at the dealer was a throttle body failure. *tr

Had my oil changed jan 2013 and was told my transmission fluid was completely empty after having it changed prior 3 months before and told it was fine. then noticed feb 09 ish 2013 that there was a good amount of transmission fluid on my garage floor. was told this happens alot on the 2010 fusion and it needs to be a recall with the problems it continues to have. *tr

This car has continually had multiple problems. we bought the car in april of 2012 and less than a year later we were told we needed a new transmission after we began losing power during operation (a serious safety concern!). the car stalls out, the wrench light (and sometimes the engine light) comes on and the car loses power and shakes. two transmissions later, the problem still persists. happening again yesterday (a week after we had a new transmission put in). there is no code for the dealer to recognize. the only thing we keep getting from this car is the stress of failure and serious safety concerns. *tr

I was traveling on a highway going approximately 70 mph and my accelerator became unresponsive. the rpm's dropped to idle, engine did not stop running but would only coast. the wrench warning light icon came on and later the check engine light came on. i coasted to a stop and put the car in park which is when the car began jerking. i shut the car off and put on my hazard lights on the highway. i was able to restart the car, but it was a rough restart. i was able to drive off and it appeared to run fine. i did some research online and found that many owners of the ford fusion have had this recurring problem with their throttle body. this also is affected by other models of 4 cylinder engines. my ford customer service stated that they had no customer service complaints about this problem. i informed them of all the complaints online, they told me that the throttle was not covered by warranty and this was not a recalled part. this happened numerous times after this, resulting in two near traffic crashes and almost getting tboned while making a left turn through an intersection. the problem is that the vehicle will run fine for a day or say, but with no warning stop running, sometimes at the most inconvenient times. i cleaned the throttle body, but it did not solve the problem. i purchased a new throttle body from my dealership for $185 with tax and replaced the part myself because it was very simple. i am in no means a mechanic, i am a cop and it took me only 5 minutes to replace it. i hope ford identifies this problem before a traffic crash occurs due to the vehicle stalling without warning. *tr

I was driving to work when suddenly the car lost all forward power. i was in the middle of an intersection when the engine cut out, and a couple of people had to make some pretty severe emergency maneuvers to avoid accidents due to my almost-stalled car. i couldn't get any power out of it with the gas pedal. when i coasted off into someone's driveway, the car barely stayed running. it shook and missed like it didn't have enough air. there was a yellow wrench icon on, but no check engine light. i shut down and refired, and it ran perfectly. i took it to the local dealer, and they told me that there was no stored data to analyze, and that it didn't do it to them on the test drive. they said there wasn't a problem. 2 minutes of googling shows a huge problem with the throttle bodies on these cars. we need a recall!! what if people hadn't been paying attention when my car failed in the intersection? there could have been a big crash. *tr

As i came to a full stop at a signal the car completely died - no lights displayed on the dash. second time i was making a right hand turn at approx 5-10 mph and it died as i came out of turn. both times it started right back up. ford dealer did complete check and extended road test on 2-5-13 but could find nothing wrong and there were no computer errors generated. both incidences the failure occured during heavy traffic on major streets within the city. my concern (other then it dying) is that nothing lit up or displayed on the dash to indicate the engine was not running. it wasn't until i put on foot on the gas pedal i realized it was not running. *tr

While turning left on a green arrow my accelerator became unresponsive, engine did not stop running but would only coast @ about 2 mph, wrench light icon and check engine light came on. the car was jerking during this slow coast to the side of the intersection. i had to put the car in park and completely shut it off.(as i was hitting my hazard lights and praying i didn't get hit by oncoming traffic as the light had changed by this time.) after a rough restart, it appeared to run fine. i took it to the mechanic and had my fuel system cleaned, but after doing research and finding many owners of the ford fusion have had this recurring problem, seemingly with their throttle body, i am very afraid to drive my car as this problem occurs with no warning beforehand and at all different speeds. i did notify ford customer service and was told that they had no customer service complaints about this problem. when i informed them of all the complaints online, they explained that they only acknowledge "official ford websites". i pray that ford will issue a recall and fix this problem before somebody dies. *tr

Vehicle stalled while driving at 45 mph. second occurrence. first was approximately 1 year earlier. immediately restarts as if nothing happened. each time, took to dealer, who read code and reprogrammed. *tr

Our 2010 ford fusion lost engine power while accelerating up a hill in morning rush hour traffic on a multi-lane super-highway in atlanta. our car was in one of the left lanes and was able to limp across several lanes to the right shoulder with the assistance of a helpful truck driver. cars were racing around us on both sides until we could flag down assistance. the experience was horrifying. the car was towed to the ford dealer who diagnosed the problem as a stuck throttle cover. a repair was made under warranty, and we were told the car was safe to drive. *tr

I was traveling at 60 mph and the lost all power. i was in the middle of three lanes so it proved difficult to get to the right break down lane. i turned the engine off and after about ten seconds i was able to restart the engine and return to the highway. the same problem occurred again about a half a mile further down the road. once again i turned the engine off and restarted it. the problem did not happen again that day. i had the problem looked at later that afternoon at a local ford dealer who diagnosed it as a faulty throttle body assembly. the car was 3,000 miles out of warranty. ford corporate customer service did not feel they should pay for the repair. this has occurred twice in the past in december and each time i was traveling 60 mph in heavy traffic. this could have resulted in a very serious accident. something needs to done. *tr

I had come to a stop light and was turning right when the car went into limp mode. second time about two weeks later i was turning onto a entrance ramp to an interstate and was accelerating when it went into limp mode. it happened again two weeks later. about three weeks ago i was idling when the car totally cut off. i restarted it drove 5 miles and it went into limp mode when i was pulling into a parking lot. yesterday it happened when i was doing a steady 70 mph on the interstate. today when i was doing 65 mph on the interstate. each time, i pulled over, turned the ignition off and restarted the car which ran normally after that. *tr

The first occurrence was when i was beginning to accelerate at around 50 mph. the engine lost power and my engine and wrench light came on. car began to shake and there was no response from the engine just high rpm's and no movement. i pulled over and turned the car off. when i restarted the car, the engine light was on but the wrench light was off. i continued to drive but about 20 miles down the road it did it again. at the time i thought i had got a bad batch of gas. i had filled up that morning. the engine light went out and i drove for another 10,000 miles before it happened again in downtown traffic. now the car will only go about 2-3 miles before the it goes into the limiting mode. i talked to the dealership and they told me it is the throttle body. they are on at least a week back-order because they can't keep up with the demand of the faulty part. *tr

My ford 2010 fusion, when at a traffic light, stop sign, etc.. would stall when i put my foot on the accelerator with very little response. then it will finally pick up speed. i have not experience the "engine shut down" as of yet and i hope i don't. after reading the other "complaints", now i know what the problem is. will take care of it as soon as possible! *tr

My 2010 ford fusion failed me and my family yesterday in highway traffic. the car went into an idle mode and would not accelerate. i had to coast across three lanes of traffic and run up the curb to get my family to a safe area. i turned the car off, and then back on and the car started. the problem was the throttle body and the dealer replaced the failed unit at my cost. i see on the web, that a failed throttle body is a recurring problem for the ford fusion. the vehicle was only 15 days or 5000 miles out of warranty. my cost of the repair was $328.50. *tr

Vehicle lost power when driving. the rpms went to about 1000 rpm (jumping up and down). this caused me to have to pull to the side of the road. after stopping and restarting the car the car drove fine. this happened a few times. luckily i did not have accident. i brought the car in and diagnosed by ford service on november 29 as faulty throttle body. the car has @ 41339 miles and this was not covered by warranty. *tr

Driving interstate hwy at 65 mph, vehicle lost power. traveling in the middle lane, the vehicle slowed in rush hour traffic to 5mph. i said my prayers due to the heavy traffic, thought this was the end. was able to coast to the shoulder and called for a tow truck. dealer reported that the throttle body had failed. failed part replaced and vehicle is working normally. *tr

Driving on my way home. a wrench light illuminated in the dash and the car lost it power instantly. slowing down to a complete stop. my latest incident was much scarier. i was on the cross island parkway in the bronx going with the traffic. thank god i was in the shoulder, it happened again. the car was going about 60 mph and the same thing happened. i was able to get on the shoulder with out anyone running into the back of me. the car came to a complete stop and was jerking like crazy. i turned it off and it started back up and i went from bronx ny to eastern long island scared as hell in the right lane just in case it happened again. and there are other times as well. *tr

Vehicle would lose all response to the accelerator pedal. it would happen at any time without warning, but first happened after speeding up after going over a speed bump. the next day it happened 3 times. on that last day, the day of the appointment at the dealership, it happened 4 times. the vehicle would not react to the input from the accelerator pedal. you would have to pull over, assuming there was a safe place to pull over, and shut the car off in park then restart it. everything would be normal until it acted up again, anywhere from 1 mile to 5 miles later. obvious safety issue, you can't power the vehicle to get out of the way of oncoming traffic it were to happen on a turn or merging on a freeway. a wreck could very easily have happened from this failure. it ended up being a bad electronic throttle body. this was not covered under the powertrain warranty and the total cost to replace was $352.40. *tr

Date and mileage of incident are guesses. has happened on multiple occasions. when driving vehicle on highway or local roads, engine stalls as if it had no power, however, the tachometer indicates engine still running. each time this occurs, vehicle has to be steered on to shoulder. when pulling onto shoulder, it vibrates tremendously. after it stops, you must put it into park, then restart the engine. brought vehicle to goodyear where it was identified as a p2111 fault. it was suggested that it be brought to a local ford dealer for servicing. brought to the local ford dealership a week ago. confirmed as p2111 fault. part had to be ordered which took approximately 6 days to receive. as of this complaint, still waiting on service to be completed. *tr

While driving on the freeway at 65 mph. the engine lost power as the engine light and wrench light went on. pressing on the accelerator had no responsive. i had to navigate freeway traffic with no engine power to get off to the side of the road. as i came to a stop the car jerked a bit before i put it in park. i turned it off and let it sit for a while. after turning the car back on i got back on the road, only to have it happen again a few miles later. *tr
