Vehicle stalled in motion. it happened several times, without any warning or any sign of malfunction.
Powering down of vehicle consistent with a throttle body failure. this happened on multiple occasions between june 5-7 2013. vehicle is at ford dealer in gaithersburg, md with unknown time for completion. this is the 5th time n the 3 year history of the vehicle that i will be without the car for more than 2 weeks. since i am out of warranty i was told i will have to pay for this repair. this is completely ridiculous. *tr
Traveling on expressway the car had no throttle. pressing the gas pedal but no response. engine started to miss fire. wrench light came on. pulled over, shut car off. started up and ran ok . pulled into an advance auto they scanned no codes. next day on expressway again. same thing happened. this time engine light came on. taking back to dealer today. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 40,000. *tr
I was pulling out of my work parking lot, going less than 10mph, and i lost all acceleration in my car. i was able to pull to the curb, put it in park, shut it off, then restart. it started hard, and immediately had the "wrench" icon on. again, i had no acceleration. i decided to try one more time to try to drive it to the dealership i bought the car from (less than 15 miles from my work). it started once more, a little easier, but still not "right." the engine light was on, but i was able to pull out and start driving. i made it about 6-7 miles, and once again, i lost all acceleration in the middle of a busy intersection. i was able to putter out of the intersection at an extremely low speed. i once again put it in park, turned off the engine, and tried one more time to start my car. once again, it started very hard, but it allowed me to drive. i drove the remaining 6-7 miles to the dealership while the engine light was on. the part, i was told, is on national backorder, and am without my vehicle for 2 weeks. my car has less than 57,000 miles on it and have only had it a little over 2 years. [bought december 2010, incident occurred june 2013]. i even purchased the extended warranty but this particular repair is conveniently not covered by it. *tr
Engine stopped responding to accelerator and only coasted. orange wrench light came on. unable to move car forward other than coast. engine rough idled but would not respond. especially dangerous problem at highway speed in traffic. serious safety issue. *tr
This has been a recurring problem for some time and on june 2nd it happened to me 9 times during a 20 mile trip. while traveling down the road, doesn't matter what speed/accelerating/decelerating, the wrench light will come on and i will lose all throttle control. i have to pull to the side of the road and when i do the vehicle shakes viciously. turn the car off, then back on and it starts with a sluggish start. the vehicle will run for a little bit then repeat this cycle. the throttle body is the problem and it is on national backorder! this needs to be a recall immediately because i can easily see someone making a left turn loose the throttle and get hit by on oncoming vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving with the illumination of the wrench warning icon. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed. the contact was advised that the vacuum solenoid had failed. the dealer replaced the engine vacuum solenoid however the failure was not corrected. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
After starting the vehicle and beginning to accelerate, at approximately 20 miles per hour the engine lost rpm, would not respond to acceleration attempts and caused the car to stall. an engine warning light came on. repeated restarts of the engine met with low rpm and surging engine conditions which would not "settle down" before the engine stalled again. after leaving the engine off for about 30 minutes, i was finally able to successfully restart the vehicle and cautiously drive it to the local ford dealership (for diagnostic testing and repair the next business day - tomorrow, june 3rd). this is the second occurrence of this problem which previously occurred on february 19, 2013. [see nhtsa odi reference number 10500133]. *tr
I was driving down the road at 45 mph and the engine stalled. it was very dangerous but i did not get into an accident. i waited a few minutes and started the car back up and it worked fine for about two miles and did the same thing again. i found out through ford that it was the throttle body and even the dealership admitted it was becoming a big problem. the part is back ordered for a month and it was not covered under warranty. ford should admit the problem and recall the part before someone gets really hurt. *tr
I was driving to my mother house to pick up my son my car suddenly just lost all power. it was still running but not accelerating. it was violently shaking and a wrench light came on. i pulled into a parking lot turned the car off when i restarted it came right back on after that i had no trouble that night. a couple of days later my son and i were headed home it did this to me again but when i tried to restart the car it had more trouble and only allowed me to 100 yard or so. my mechanic cleaned the part it did fine for about another month or so until this past monday 7/29/13. i have currently bought a new throttle body and it has seemed to fix this car. ford needs to realize this a problem.the car has stopped on me numerous time and could have caused many accident. i began looking and this seems to be a common issues among this car. its time for a recall. i must say that i was lucky to have a mechanic for a dad because i was quoted almost 700 dollars for this job and lucky he could do this for free with only the cost of the part. *tr
Was driving my 2010 ford fusion to drop child off at school. car started lunging forward and then wanting to die. finally got it into a parking space after several restarts and dies. towed to ford dealer, said it was a mass air flow sensor. cost $404.05. two days later, died in very busy intersection. towed again. now it is the throttle body. was told, like everyone else, that part is on national back order. 1200 just made and sent to packaging co. may or may not get one of the parts. this should be a recall issue. i could have been hurt very badly in this intersection and depending on where one is when this happens, they could end up getting hit hard enough that it may kill them. *tr
My 2010 ford fusion (40000 miles) suddenly began to shake and then all of the sudden it stalled and would no longer move until it was shut off and cranked back up. i had to maneuver my way off the highway by coasting. this has happened 5 times since the original incident. i originally thought i had gotten some bad gas. this is not the case. it recently stalled while i was driving under a red light. i was very fortunate to be able to coast out of the way of oncoming traffic. when this happens you are without the ability to accelerate and move off the road. you must depend entirely on coasting to safety. i have taken it to a ford dealership this morning . they said it was the throttle body and it would possibly take 8 weeks to get a new one since so many are being needed. why has ford not issued a recall on this dangerous part? i have read many accounts online of owners having this same problem with the throttle body. i am very thankful that i was not hit by oncoming traffic. i hope that it does not take someone getting injured for ford to do something about this problem. *tr
Came off the highway and was waiting at a red light. went to accelerate and the car would not go. the car did not stall but would not accelerate. took to mike bass ford in sheffield oh and they diagnosed that it was the throttle body. took approx 12 days to fix. the dealership claimed that ford had run out of the part. *tr
While driving, the electronic throttle body malfunctioned, causing my car to start to lose speed rapidly. i was in interstate traffic, making this issue that much more dangerous. i was lucky that i was in the right hand lane without heavy traffic and could pull safely off of the road. this has occurred multiple times since then. it seemed to be an intermittent problem, but has now put my car out of commission until it is fixed. the cost of repair is over $400. upon researching this, i found that it is a very common problem that ford seems to know about, but will not cover under the extended warranty i have because it is an "emissions" part. i must state that i absolutely love my car and like the way it drives, but am disappointed that this has not been recalled since it is common enough for the dealer to know what it is before even looking at the car. i also must say that my dealer has dealt with me fairly and honestly through the whole process. *tr
At approximately 65 mph, the vehicle lost all forward power and engine began running rough. i had to pull into the grassy median of a major interstate with traffic all around and my wife and 2 year old daughter in the vehicle. after shutting off the engine for a few seconds, i was able to restart the vehicle and continue to the closest exit. after exiting the interstate, the vehicle experienced the same problem. i was again able to stop and restart the engine and continue to the local dealership where i was informed that this is a common problem with 2010 fusions. the problem is so common that the part to repair the vehicle is on back order and it may be between 2 weeks and 2 months before the part will be available to repair my vehicle. this is approximately the fifth time that this type incident has occurred with this vehicle. *tr
My wife was driving her 2010 ford fusion sel awd at about 30 mph. the car suddenly lost acceleration and the yellow wrench appeared along with the check engine light. she turned the car off and restarted it. the symptoms disappeared and the car ran normally. however, within a few miles it happened again. i checked the dtc with my scanner and got both p2111 and p2112. both are related to the throttle body. ford is back ordered on this part and the car is not drive able without it. if the problem had happened at a higher rate of speed or in traffic, it would have been a dangerous situation. *tr
Vehicle suddenly stalls and there is no power. wrench symbol appears. are able to restart vehicle. don't know when it's going to happen!!!! vehicle is always warmed up never happens when just starting out! was the throttle body.... *tr
I traveling on i-45, the speed limit was 75 mph. it was at night. there is recent construction on this route and there was about 100 yards of no shoulder. suddenly my engine stopped. i pulled over as far as i could - i immediately turned on my hazard lights. other cars were also going the same rate of speed. i heard tires screech but there was nothing i could do. fortunately there were no accidents as a result of this - when i restarted the engine i was able to continue. this was a near miss - my son and i could have been killed this night. i was very angry to hear that this is a common problem with 2010 ford fusions but there is no recall. my mechanic diagnosed it as the "throttle body" and said that ford is probably not recalling it because there is such a back order on this part. it is extremely dangerous and the public needs to be warned! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling approximately 45 mph, the malfunction warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the contact was eventually able to be restarted and was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 71,000.
While driving down, a busy intersection at 30mph.my 2010 ford fusion just stopped, rpms went down wrench came on and car started shaking bad, thank god no one was behind me could of been hit from behind this has happened about 5 times this month alone...ford should recall these fusions before they get hit with a law suit...am grateful was by myself...i usually have my grandchildren...ford needs to look into this back up your name... *tr
I was driving on friday, may 24, 2013 on interstate 4 in orlando, florida. i was driving about 55-60 mph and my 2010 ford fusion started to stall and sputter. this is an extremly busy interstate as it runs through downtown, orlando is the main route to walt disney world and tampa, fl. the wrench light came on and i somehow managed to pull off the side of the road through 4 lanes of traffic without causing an accident. i turned the car off and waited a minute and started it back up. i was able to drive away with no problems. this is the 4th time it has happened in the past few weeks. i had the exact same thing happen last year and had it repaired costing me around 800.00 which i did not have at the time. the car was fine and now here i am a year later with the exact problem, the car is out of warrenty and i cannot afford this again. something needs to be done with this part before someone dies. i was lucky, thousands of cars traveling at a high rate of speed travel this interstate. i will be filing a complaint with the bbb against for to have the repairs completed again. they should issue a recall on this part so that others do not have to worry about this. i have found that for some reason it is inevitable to happen with this vehicle. i hope that someone somewhere can get this take care of. *tr
On 5/22 dashboard message to check gas inlet after fueling. after doing that the message went away. 5/23 check engine light came on, took it by the dealer. 5/24 dealer cleared codes and said they couldn't find a problem. 6/4 my car started sputtering, lost acceleration when pressing the gas pedal. coasted to the side of the road, car sputtered some more and shut off. sat a minute, turned it back on and drove home about 2 miles. check engine light went off. 6/5 check engine light came back on. i scheduled an appointment to have it rechecked. was told i needed to have the evap canister purge valve replaced and the gas inlet assembly replaced. i opted to have the evap canister purge valve replaced because no warranty and couldn't afford $700 repair. 6/6, husband drove the car home, all was fine. 6/7 the car lost acceleration, i pulled to the side of the road again, it sputtered and shut off. the wrench light came on but then went off. pulled over, restarted it, it was fine for about 3 miles. with no warning, the car lost all power pulling out into the road way. i coasted the car, put it in park and restarted it. there was no lane to pull over so i was in the road way. started driving again, car shut off with no warning at a traffic light. did the same thing, put it in park and restarted. got going again so i could pull over somewhere safer, and got into a turn lane, it shut off and i had to coast across the intersection to park it. very scary!! got car towed back to ford. 6/7 and 6/10 mechanic still couldn't figure out the problem. 6/11 i get a "recommended repair" email, $1800 to replaced vct solenoid phaser, bolt, valve cover gasket, frt crank seal, diamond washer and crank bolt,ta-30 sealer, oil and filter. code p052b, said it's a timing issue. the car is only 3 years old. warranty expired, no recalls and ford service can't be sure this will fix the problem!! *tr
2010 ford fusion se wrench light comes on and the car stops driving on the highway, street and in an intersection. the wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. the car will start to stall and shake.the dealerships can't find out why this is happening. ford will not call a recall for this issue and ford stated the part for this vehicle is on back order with no eta. i'm not the only person with this known issue. if you google the wrench light you will see a number of 2010 fusion owners have this problem. this problem is growing at a rapid rate and ford has yet to do anything about this situation. what will it take for someone to get killed before ford motor company take this issue serious. *tr
Traveling at approximately 30 mph when vehicle abruptly stopped moving forward. engine was still running, but when accelerator was pushed the vehicle would not move. put vehicle in park and the engine started to shake violently. turned ignition off and immediately turned hazard lights on. vehicles behind me had to swerve to miss me. i then turned the ignition and car started. put car in drive and vehicle repeated the same process as described above. had to have car towed to dealer. dealer examined vehicle and determined that the throttle body was defective. it is my understanding that there have been numerous complaints regarding this issue. i felt that my life was endangered due to this issue. i believe that there should be a recall on all affected vehicles before someone is seriously injured or killed. *tr
I was driving down the interstate and my car started to slow down and i couldn't accelerate. pulled over and restarted the car and it drove it home. the next day the same thing happened as i was pulled out of the driveway but cutting it off and back on no longer fixed the problem. it is currently at a ford dealership the throttle body is having to be replaced. the part is on national backorder. so i definitely think this is a serious problem that should be recalled so everyone knows to have it fixed. and we shouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to have something fixed that was faulty to begin with. *tr
The first incident occurred a month ago. as i was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench (throttle control/transmission) light came on. i rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. in park, the engine began to shake so, i turned the vehicle off. after a minute i turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. i called the service center at the ford dealership to find out if i should have this checked out and was told no since the light was no longer on. today(5/22/13), the car stalled again. this time i was going 50 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. i turned off the engine and restarted the car. i was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. this time the check engine light came on, and i again pulled over and turned the car off again. this continued to happen several more times on my drive home. i am having the car towed to a ford dealership tomorrow to find out the cause. this is very dangerous and there were several times that i had to quickly put my hazards on and get to the shoulder, luckily never causing an accident. *tr ## vin failed ##
Driving to work, our 2010 ford fusion sputtered and stalled. after restarting, the car continued to sputter and we brought it into the nearest ford dealership. we were informed that the throttle body had degraded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle has been serviced at ford dealerships regularly and on-time. we replaced the battery last month. our problem appears to reflect the nhtsa's ongoing investigation of ford electronic throttle body failures. ref: http://www.ncconsumer.org/news%20articles/nhtsa%20opens%20investigation%20into%202005-2012%20ford%20escape%20vehicles%20following%20petition%20from%20nccc.html. *tr

While driving at a steady speed of approximately 45 mph the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate when i pressed the gas pedal. i turned on my emergency flashers and coasted into the turn lane, turned the vehicle off and then restarted the vehicle. after restarting the vehicle, i drove another 3 miles and had stopped to make a left hand turn and as i began to accelerate into the turn, the vehicle lost power again. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they diagnosed a problem with the throttle body. i believe this is a very serious safety issue. the vehicle loses power with no warning whatsoever and very little time to maneuver the vehicle into a safe place. *tr
Driving on the highway when the wrench light came on, the car began to decelerate, and the gas pedal did nothing. luckily, i was in the outside lane and was able to get to the shoulder. i let the car rest for a minute, then restarted the car and drove with no problem. my experience appears identical to those who have had issues with the throttle body. the part is on back order, and ford dealers charge 3 times as much as independent mechanics to fix it. it would seem like if the problem is so pervasive that the part is unavailable because it is used so much, this should be the subject of a recall. *tr
My car's engine cut off at 70 mph going down the interstate. luckily no one was harmed as i was able to drift with my flashers to the side of the road. i called my local ford dealership, and they stated this was a common problem in the fusions. my car has cut off several times while driving around town also. it's extremely scary and dangerous to have no acceleration in 65 mph traffic. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving at 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who diagnosed that the vent canister kit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000. updated 6/3/15*cn updated 10/3/2017*cn
When driving my car on the interstate, it would shake really bad anytime we got above 60 mphs. at 65, it would shut off. the engine was still running the rpms would not go above 1000. we could put the car in neutral and restart the car - no go. to get driving again, we had to stop the car completely. wait 5 minutes. and start again. this happened 5 times. the ford dealer found a problem with the electronic throttle body and is replacing it. the car is out of warranty though... *tr
As i was driving southbound outer drive barely crossing pelham my fusion lost power as described by all other thottle body failures i have read. i was almost rearended by a truck behind me that was trying to make the light. currently, there is a backorder on the throttle body assmblies and i am out of a vehicle until they deliver.. *tr
I had been driving my 2010 ford fusion sel for about 15 minutes on the highway at speeds of 65mph when suddenly i lost the ability to accelerate or maintain speed. there was no prior warning anything was wrong, and when it happened it was not accompanied with a loud noise or jolt. instead, the wrench light on the dash illuminated and i began slowing down. applying pressure to the accelerator had no effect. i quickly had to navigate across three lanes of traffic while quickly slowing as i coasted to the shoulder of the road. as the car slowed below 20 mph, it began noticeably shaking and surging. this continued once at a complete stop. i then shut the car off and waited approximately 10 minutes before trying to start it again. it cranked for a while before finally catching. i was then able to drive normally again and get off the highway to a safer location. since this occurrence, i have taken my car to the ford dealer twice. the first time they could do nothing for me as "the service engine light did not illuminate and thus no code was registered". as the issue continued and increased in frequency (now occurring at speeds as low as 20mph and 45mph, and as quickly as 2 minutes after leaving my house), i took the car back to the dealer where they were able to get it to replicate the issue while driving it. they determined it was a bad throttle body. i am now waiting on this part which is currently on back order. i was told there are over 8,000 orders ahead of me and it could be over a month before the part is ready. as a result, i have a car which is unreliable and tends to stall every time i drive it. *tr
While traveling at highway speed, the car suddenly lost throttle control and thus power to the drive train. this required me to coast to a stop along the shoulder of the interstate. after getting the vehicle to the ford dealer for service, i was informed that the problem is with the "throttle body". they also indicated that there are so many ford fusions currently with this same problem that throttle body parts are on backorder for up to 2 months. and unfortunately the vehicle is unsafe to operate in its current state. i think this should warrant a recall, since it can (and did) result in unsafe event for the driver. *tr
At highway speed the vehicle losses all power check engine and wrench light comes on. dealer claims it is a on going issue with the throttle body assembly. it must be a wide spread problem since the parts are back ordered for weeks. i hope someone does not get killed before they admit it is a safety problem. *tr
i have a 2010 ford fusion and have been having this problem for a while now where my car while driving will jerk really hard than start vibrating and then come to a halt, i will put the car in park and turn the car off and restart and drive again then the same thing will happen this time the engine light comes on i took my car to the mechanic and the ford dealership and both told me that its the throttle body and its on back order and has been on back order for sometime now i have driven my car and its keeps happening over and over again now i am no longer driving my car and had to rent a car which is causing a financial burden but i have no choice til the part come in for my car to be repaired. i was also told by the ford dealership that this is a very big problem with the ford fusion i hope this problem is resolved soon and my car is either repaired or replaced i need my car to get back and forth to work ! i also feel that i should be reimbursed once my vehicle is repaired and for the rental of another vehicle to get back and forth to work as i can no longer drive my car due to this safety hazard. *tr
I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. the little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and i could not accelerate at all. when i touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. i managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. finally i tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. this solved the problem temporarily. this happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as i was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. no warning. the light comes on and you have no acceleration. i'm being told it could be the throttle body. *tr
On may 13, 2013, at approximatley 8:30am, on i-40 westbound at 70mph the engine suddenly completly lost power/thrust and the "wrench" light (throttle body indicator). all electrical components were still on, but the gas pedal would not respond. the engine was sputtering and seemed to be "choking". i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. i checked my owners manual and it stated that if the light remained on i had an issue with the throttle body. i turned the car on and the light did not come on or demonstrate any indication of trouble, so i continued driving to my destination. upon reaching my destination, i contacted the local dealership in the area, explained what happened and dropped it off for them to diagnose. after leaving it with the dealership for two days, the dealership could not replicate the problem but stated that it was the throttle body and that specific part was back-ordered unti june. with no options available, i paid the diagnostic fee of $130.71 and decided to try to drive it home. on may 16th, 2013, at approximately 10:30am, on i-81 southbound at 70mph the same exact issue occured again. i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. this time when i turned the car back on, the "engine" light came on (no "wrench" light). leaving the car running, i checked my owners manual and it stated to drive it to the closes dealership. upon reaching the dealership, i explained the repeated trouble i had had, what the previous delaership had stated and that the car was still running so they could diagnise it without having to replicate the problem. the dagnostic indicated code p2111 (throttle body stuck open-replace throttle body). they installed it, i paid the total service fee of $381.91 and drove the rest of the way home. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle jerked and the rpms decreased. the failure was experienced multiple times. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact shut the engine off and was able to drive without failure after restarting the vehicle however, the failure soon recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the throttle body would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
On three separate occasions, the car completely lost power. it completely ceased to function without warning. fortunately, my daughter was not injured. however, if this would have occurred as she drove at highway speed, she could have been killed. after during some research, i discovered that the problem was most likely the throttle body. we took it to the dealership where it was purchased. they confirmed my suspicions. it took close to a week for the part to come in - because - the service manager told me - there was a huge waiting list for this part because they keep failing. (plus, she was without a car.) he told me that ford really doesn't see the need for a recall at this time, even though they are well aware of the problem. people could die. on one occasion, her car failed going down a very steep and winding hill. fortunately, she was able to pull off of the road. ford's attitude about this is criminal. my other daughter also has a fusion. i worry daily about her safety. i am considering getting the throttle body changed just to keep her safe. *tr
While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car loss all power and the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with an illumination of the wrench symbol. the warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the failure occurred nine times at various speeds while trying to get home. the check engine light came on remained on once we arrived home. car has been at ford dealer for two weeks now waiting on a fuel body throttle which is apparently on back order nationwide. why there is not a recall on this very dangerous mechanical issue is beyond me! *tr
Traveling approximately 70-75 mph on us highway vehicle lost power and entered into a limited power "limp home" mode, dropping engine to idle speed and causing a wrench light to activate on the dash and activation of "check engine" light. vehicle losing power nearly resulted in motor vehicle collision with other vehicles. after moving to shoulder of roadway and shutting off vehicle and turning it back on the problem corrected for approximately 2 miles where issue occurred again, this time at speeds approximately 60 mph. after shutting off and powering back on vehicle the problem again corrected for less than a mile. vehicle continued same problem after shutdown another 8 times within 5 miles. only roadside correction to issue was to remove negative battery cable to reset computer. after completing this task vehicle would run normally for approximately 10 miles where issue would return. vehicle was taken to shop where a diagnostic computer showed codes of p2112 and p2111, throttle actuator stuck open and throttle actuator stuck closed. required repair appears to be complete removal and replacement of electronic throttle body assembly. *tr
Driving at low speed on residential street. engine stuttered, wrench light illuminated and throttle response became nonexistent. error code shown was for stuck open/ closed throttle body. *tr
I was traveling at 65mph down the freeway when there was a sudden jolt and the accelerator pedal stopped responding and the engine idled at 500-600 rpm. the engine and wrench lights came on. i slowly pulled over to the side of the road. the car was shaking badly. i turned the car off and restarted again and the problem went away. i took off but in less than 2 minutes it happened again. i had to tow the car to the dealer. turns out it's the electronic throttle body (part# ds7z9e926a) and they charged me $380 to replace it. this is a known issue with this make and model vehicle. i'm surprised ford issued a recall on "suspected" faulty wheel studs but not an issue as big as throttle body with numerous complaints. this is a very dangerous problem especially if it happens in heavy traffic or in the middle of an intersection. *tr
Vehicle seemed to stall, wrench warning light came on and then went off, shut off vehicle and restarted. could not get vehicle up to speed, seeming to stall again. called tow truck. *tr
Driving along and vehicle goes into limp mode. cannot accelerate. pull over turn off car and restart. car starts up and runs fine until it happens again which has happened several times now and more frequent. can't afford to pay dealer so i have to but the part and install it myself. no codes show up just a wrench. talked to the dealer and they are very familiar with the problem and told me what to replace but if i take it to them they will charge a fee for the diagnostic even though they know what the problem is, then they charge another fee for replacing the part. *tr
