Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2007 Ford Freestyle

We purchased our freestyle in 07 and literally only drove it for 3 years. the car started to lunge and make all kinds of noises when we took it in and they said our car was out of warranty by a couple miles literally they wouldn't do anything for us just told us it was going to be about $5000 to repair. that is huge when your still paying on it. please investigate this so we all can get a vehicle we can drive and not worry we are going to lunge at the kids school where you could easily hurt children. *tr

2007 freestyle sel awd w/50,000 miles surges at low speeds and stalls at high speeds. the wrench light comes on and the vehicle enters "limp" mode until vehicle is restarted. the dealership was unable to recover error codes when i took it in for diagnostics. however, based on my verbal description of the problem alone he suggested replacement of the entire throttle body assembly, saying "this is a very common issue for the freestyle, 500, and edge." i am still deciding whether to spend the $1000 they quoted me for replacement (a firestone service center quoted me $750). for one, i can't understand how such a dangerous malfunction is allowed to go unaddressed. two, how can the throttle body assembly, which controls the entire powertrain, not be covered by a powertrain warranty? and three, if it is such a common problem that by verbal description alone, a dealer knows a major component needs replacement, why is this not being addressed by ford at a national level? here's my vote of no confidence. *tr

Purchased an 07 ford freestyle. less than three yrs old and had to replace transmission at $7000.00! was told the revving and lunging the vehicle does caused the transmission issue. i have reported this to everyone i can. why does no one care that these vehicles move on their own? when toyota had this issue, the news stations were all over it. a recall happened within months! if you google these issues, there are more than 20,000 people with the same issue. these are family cars! family vehicles which drive kids and they accelerate on their own even in reverse! i don't have another 7000.00 for another new transmission. ford issued a one time throttle cleaning, that i just received in the mail. thx ford for the $150 service that does nothing! never again will i buy a f.o.r.d! found on road dead=ford! *tr

The car started leaking transmission fluid. i took it to the repair shop and the torque converter was bad. there have been alot of complaints about the transmission in this car and there is not a recall at this time. *tr

2007 ford freestyle has noise coming from underneath near the front. it is out of warranty with 120,000 miles. brought it in to mechanic thinking it was a wheel bearing or something similar. according to four separate repair shops it is the transmission. lowest cost to fix, that i could find, is 4300 dollars, which is more than half of what i still owe on it. for something to cost that much to repair is a shame. i can understand car parts failing, even transmissions, but not for that much. i had a transmission fail in another ford, a couple months before this one, and it was 2000 dollars to fix. expensive, yes, but not over 4000 freakin dollars. i could have the entire engine replaced on this 2007 freestyle for cheaper than the transmission. ford could at least offer some kind of break on these transmissions if not a recall. i am aware of a lot of people having transmission problems with these freestyles. if something doesn't happen for these soon, i will not be sad to never buy a ford again. *ln

I own a 2007 ford freestyle. it has in recent weeks begun to unexpectedly surge in both drive and reverse. this is not a "little" surge but a powerful lunge in whatever direction the wheel is turned. it is always at low speed, and very random in when it occurs. it is very unnerving around pedestrians and also in tight spaces like a garage. *tr

Bought a used 2007 ford freestyle limited 3.0 duratec engine, cvt automatic transmission 2 weeks prior to incident. had ford dealer tune-up the engine, replace front crankshaft seal on engine and replace the cvt fluid & filters as well as perform a multi-point inspection. after work performed (which required the removal of the intake manifold w/throttle body attached for the tune-up) the vehicle now surges badly when in reverse pulling out of parking spot. does so quite powerfully and is very dangerous to any life & property that is around the vehicle when surging occurs unexpectedly. no doubt in my mind had my wife been driving she would have panicked and there would have been a loss of life or property. fortunately i was driving and managed (just barely) to maintain control. took back to dealer to diagnose and was quoted the throttle body needed to be r/r'd. was told by service manager ford was well aware of the issue but has failed to respond with a recall. *tr

I recently bought a used, well maintained 2007 ford freestyle last fall. although the vehicle ran fine last fall, over this summer with the air conditioner being used, the ford will unexpected lunge forward when idling or at a stoplight when the airconditioner kicks on, which is dangerous. it almost caused a crash when pulling into my garage this summer. you must firmly have your foot on the brake at all times, this is very different than any other vehicle i have ever driven, and is dangerous. *tr

My 2007 ford freestyle lunges forward & backward uncontrollably. had vehicle serviced at ford dealership on 10-21-2010 and was diagnosed and advised to replace all plugs and 1 coil and 7 boots, mileage 78,436. completed the service as advised, cost $931.35. the problem still existed and engine light came on june of 2011. had same dealership diagnose and the same diagnosis came back but everything checked out ok. i had the dealership replace the throttle body at my request because of safety issue with the uncontrollable lunging and other ford freestyle's having the same problem at mileage 85,976 at a cost of $740.41. today, 8-18-2011 with mileage at 87,600, i have not had any problems with the vehicle lunging uncontrollably. based on the above description, i believe the throttle body was defective and should be recalled. additionally, i also believe that there was a misdiagnosis of the initial problem and should be reimbursed both costs. please contact me if you need further information and documentation. thank you. *kb

Car lunges at stops and low speeds. *kb

Traction control and check engine lights come on. dealership replaced awd pump under warranty. lights are still coming on. dealership says problem is "dem" module in rear axle. dem is not considered a powertrain part and dealership wants $5000 to fix it. *tr

I have a 2007 ford freestyle that i have had for a little over a year now. i first experienced my car not able to go over twenty mile per hour about three months ago and my check engine light and transmission light came on. i got it home shut it off and everything was fine till about three weeks ago. when my car is in park and when i put it in reverse it makes a funny winding sound and about a week ago my wife was driving it and all the lights came on again and she couldn't even drive it anymore it was hurky jerky and got it back to the house. now i take it in and the mechanic says its the transmission. the computer is saying that it is a problem with a transmission as well. after researching the problem a little more it seems that a lot of people out there are having the same problem with ford not doing anything to start a recall on this problem. this problem could of have been alot worse for me and my family and had a horrible crash because of this problem.. my car only has a little over 67000 miles on it and should not be doing this already and especially after i keep up with the maintenance on this vehicle. it is going to cost me over 4000 dollars to get this fixed on something ford has seem coming and is doing nothing about this. this is probably the reason they stopped making this model only after three years. if someone could look into this for me ,that would be great!!!!!!!!! *tr

When shifting from park to drive or reverse to drive, the car randomly surges forward even when the accelerator is not depressed. it also occurs when stopped or moving slowly forward such as at a stoplight or when parking. the problem is more pronounced when the air conditioner is on. it is a concern that this surging problem may cause an accident at some time. *kb

Vehicle surges or lunches forward at low speeds. car also dies when going from park to drive. *tr

I bought a used 2007 ford freestyle from what i thought was a reputable dealer two weeks ago. i have now been told after having problems wit the car accelerating in reverse when i let off the brake, and having the wrench light come on the dash, that i have a failed throttle body/ transmission that will cost in the thousands of dollars to fix. i have researched on line since then and found that this is a major problem with thousand of other people who have purchased this vehicle. the transmission/throttle body on this car is defective and ford should replace it immediately! why is this not on a recall list?? *tr

Car surges forward at low speeds, especially when the ac is on, and sometimes feels like it is trying to keep moving under its own power even when my foot is only on the brake. the check engine light is not on so i'm told nothing is wrong. *tr

When stopped vehicle will lung forward, idle will go up & down causing this to lung, idle speed will vary from about 600 rpm to 1300 rpm this makes it hard to park and when on the road stopped, took to dealer for repair in aug of 2010 repair (changed throttle body) that lasted for about 6 months and started again. *tr

2007 ford freestyle sudden lurching in forward and reverse . some times followed by engine stall and check engine light come on. this has happened at stop signs, while in drive this, and backing about of parking spots. it was taken to certified mechanic. they could not duplicate problem (they said that code did not show) i t is now in the shop again as it is not safe to drive. *tr

Ford freestyle '07 less than 36k miles...vehicle surged forward while foot was on brake pedal...vehicle then died in middle of highway. could not drive in stop and go traffic while on highway because fear of ramming into vehicle ahead of me. happened one time before while vehicle was in reverse with foot on brake pedal...vehicle surged backwards. have vehicle at ford dealership now...awaiting analysis. *tr

When shifting into drive or reverse from park or neutral, the transmission takes several seconds to engage and when it does it lurches forward or backward with no input to the gas pedal. you must have your foot on the brake and be ready to press down hard to keep the car from lunging forward or backward. also, when creeping forward in parking lots or other slow moving situations and applying a small amount of throttle, the car will lunge forward at a much greater speed than what commanded at the gas pedal. this is an especially dangerous situation because in parking lots there are other people or cars, potentially close by that could be struck. *tr

Cvt transmission on 2007 ford freestyle was making a noise in park and reverse, dealer said transmission needed a part that was on national back order but was safe to drive. a few days later, we experienced a more severe transmission issue with the car surging forward when reverse or drive is engaged. in addition, the car is unable to accelerate over 30 mph and once foot is off the accelerator, the car quickly loses speed. this will be the third problem i have experienced with the cvt transmission and the car has less than 45,000 miles. current status: part continues to be on back order and dealer customer service has been terrible in terms of providing loaner car and status updates etc... *tr

We purchased a 2007 ford freestyle earlier this year. shortly, after purchasing the vehicle it started lunging forward while the brake was being held down. in addition, the lunging would also occur when the car was in reverse and the brake was being held. there were a couple of instances, where the car stalled and the wrench light came on. the car was turned off and waited a couple of minutes, and then restarted the car. the wrench light went out. the vehicle was taken to a ford dealership, who told us nothing was wrong with the car. immediately after picking up the car from the dealership it started the lunging. i read on a forum that other ford freestyle owners were experiencing the same problem. some of the owners had gotten a fuel induction service. we went to a different ford dealership for the fuel induction service. the vehicle has not been lunging since we had the service. *tr

For the past year, when the car is at idle, but not in park, with foot off accelerator, the car will suddenly, and without driver action, surge or lurch forward. or if in reverse, it will surge backward. if foot is firmly on brake, the lurch will not cause movement of tires, just body of car as the brakes restrain movement. but if it occurs in the instant the driver is moving the foot from accelerator to brake, or without the brake being firmly depressed beyond what is needed to restrain movement while at idle, the surge can be 2-5 feet before the driver is able to apply the brake and cease the movement. we have almost hit a pedestrian coming out of a fast food restaurant crossing in front of car as we were going through drive-through. we were at a stop to receive food with foot on brake enough to stop forward movement while at idle but not enough to stop when surge occurred. we have almost hit numerous cars while trying to park, especially during parallel parking attempts. the condition comes and goes. at times when it is "acting up" the car also loses its ability to properly accelerate in response to demand for gas and speed. push on accelerator but the car will not respond except at only a very slow rate, taking many seconds to reach a top speed of 25-30 mph. this has caused safety issues when it occurs while pulling out in front of on-coming traffic, even though doing so at what should be a safe distance. my wife is now refusing to drive the car when the condition is occurring due to her fear of it acting on its own. it started in the 80,000 mile range. our car now has about 102,000 miles. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 ford freestyle. the contact stated when shifting into first gear at 25 mph or more, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate with the brakes depressed. the failure would also occur when driving at low speeds. in addition, the vehicle would intermittently stall without warning. the dealer diagnosed the failure within the transmission and advised replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 73,000.

I took my ford freestyle into the dealer today to have it looked at because it was lurching and not getting enough power. it was diagnosed with ...bad throttle body...and the mechanic had the nerve to suggest that it only happens to cars that aren't maintained properly by the owners. i explained that mine is well maintained and i have records to show for it, then he gave me the wonderful news that it would only cost me $1,188.93 to fix it. he acted like it was a real rarity for this to happen and that i was getting a huge deal. he even charged me $99 for the privilege of diagnosing the problem. then he came back to me and warned me that it could stop or "the engine could seize" if i drove it still. when i wouldn't take the bait, he called me later at home and suggested they could give me a small discount for the repair. then he once again warned that it's very unsafe to drive. by the way, i'm a single woman and the car has only 47k on it. i'm feeling pretty confident that the increased cost was associated with my gender...so, what others were told would cost them about $700 or so, i was informed would be almost $1,200 - guess it's more expensive to fix the problem when a woman is the primary driver!!! when i googled the freestyle name i found out that this problem is very very common with other vehicle owners. i'm seriously disgusted that ford and their representatives would try to cover up or ignore this problem and even allow drivers back on the road when this type of thing is occurring. it's an accident waiting to happen. *tr

We've had our 2007 ford freestyle for about 2 weeks, but today my wife was driving her freestyle and had come to a complete stop at an intersection. suddenly it surged while her foot was on the brake. she said she started through the intersection and couldn't get the car to go regardless of how had she pressed the accelerator ( engine did not race ) and finally gained speed. she immediately made her way home and told me her experience. i drove it myself and it (surging) happened to me when i stopped at a local auto parts store to see if they could pull trouble codes, which they couldn't read. we then left and i continued to drive it to see if it would still happen and it did when we were backing up at a local restaurant. we immediately came home and parked it. the reason we are writing this now, instead of waiting to see what a service rep would say, is because upon returning home we did a search on the net and found many stories of the exact same problem. frankly i'm surprised we didn't hit something today. this appears to be a serious situation ford needs to be held accountable for and issue an immediate recall. *tr

2005 ford freestyle limited with 52,000 miles "lurches" in forward and reverse. cost to replace throttle body part exceed $600. this vehicle is dangerous to drive. after further online research there are many same complaints. this issue should be properly reviewed for recall by ford asap to minimize damages as a result of faulty parts. *tr

I was driving my freestyle thru the carpool lane at school. i was moving very slowly, stop and go, without my foot on the brake or the accelerator. the car "lurched" forward suddenly. my left foot is always at the corner of the brake due to a problem i had with the accelerator cable in another vehicle. if my foot had not been on that brake, i would have definitely hit the car in front of me...or a child!!! a police officer standing right there, gave me a very mean look when this happened, as it was a truly unsafe driver. this has only happened to me the one time. i took it to a ford dealership the next day. the repair it very costly. its the "throttle body assembly" , this seems to be a large problem with the freestyle. i then spoke to a ford customer representative, with no positive outcome. upon checking this online, i realize that this is a common occurrence with the freestyle. so i am "stuck" driving a very unsafe vehicle. i also have a delay in the shifting of the car from park to reverse, and from reverse to drive. ford says that is a dirty transmission, and needs to be flushed..again pricey. i really feel that there should be a recall. how many children are at risk with this problem? this vehicle is very conducive to children, and i see many of these vehicles at schools. i have had over 15 fords, and this is the worst service that i have ever had. i insist that something be done, before people are killed for a ford issue that they are "aware" of! *tr

My 2007 ford freestyle has 64,446 miles and was purchased new. in the past 2 months, the car has developed a problem with rapid acceleration that occurs without warning and it happens in forward as well as reverse. it seems to be worse when it's hot & the a/c is on. i have almost rear-ended several cars while stopped at a light & almost "lurched" into a pedestrian in a parking lot. i took the car to my local ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as the electronic throttle body is bad and has to be replaced and the part & repair is not going to be covered by my extended warranty. this is a safety hazard to both the driver and public since it occurs without any warning and the "lurching" sends the car forward or backward at a sudden speed. something should be done to alert the public. *tr

This has happened multiple times - more frequent during summer months - the engine lunges (both in drive and reverse) when my foot is firmly on the brake. occasionally, when in reverse, it will lunge, then the engine will die. when i put the car in park and restart it the wrench light comes on. ford says they can find nothing wrong with the car. hopefully it will not continue to lunge when people are standing in a crosswalk. *tr

2007 ford freestyle throttle body vehicle progressively feeling more rough at idling (while waiting at a stop light). on august 7 2010 i backed out of a parking space then with my foot on the brake shifted into drive. the vehicle started lurching forward overriding my foot on the brake. indicator light came on the dash panel came on which indicated a transmission fault had been detected. i took the vehicle to the local ford dealer who said that the throttle body needed to be replaced. *tr

This started about a month ago on my 2007 ford freestyle with 44,000 miles. the car lunges forward with foot on brake and then stalls. it also occurs when going in reverse. i've almost hit cars in parking lots 3 times. it's intermittent and seems to happen more when it's hot outside ant the ac is on. ford dealers says there aren't any recalls and i'm out of warranty. they tell me there well aware of the problems with this and that the issue is the throttle body. cost of repairs is $700-$1000. *tr

We own a 2007 ford freestyle. it is having power surges with accelerations when in reverse or forward, especially on hot days with the a/c going. when we break, the wrench (transmission light) comes on and the car stalls. it is hard to stop the vehicle and steer once the wrench light comes on. internet research shows several freestyle have same issue and it is with the throttle body. this is not a safe error to have, as the car accelerates and is hard to control. *tr

My car lunges forward or backwards even if the brake is firmly engaged. it is even worse if the car has been idle for a few minutes. it will throw a wrench in the warning light on the dash, stall out and i have to turn the car off then on again. it seems to be worse if it's hot outside. this car is very dangerous. you have no control over it lunging forward. there needs to be a recall on this. there are numerous complaints all over the internet and on here. *tr

Putting vehicle into drive caused vehicle to "lurch" forward at high rpm. wrench idiot line came on, car would not accelerate past 30mph. had to turn car off in the middle of a busy intersection with children in the car and restart vehicle to clear condition and make car drivable. *tr

When driving my 2007 ford freestyle with a/c on the car will surge or accelerate. when surges occur brakes must be applied quickly. this occurs after idling as well. i have also experienced ignition failure, slow acceleration, engine light and wrench light warnings. first experienced it in summer 2010 and took it to my dealer for a check, and they could not find any issues. another mechanic also stated that this was common in this make and model. this seems to occur during the hot summer months, whenever the car is driven since i am experiencing again this summer, 2011. *tt

My 2007 ford freestyle limited experienced unexpected surging forward and surging while in reverse. incident happened twice in the same day. warning lights came on. car was taken to local ford dealership for evaluation. diagnostics indicated that the throttle body was bad and needed replaced. we were informed that there was a national shortage of replacement throttle body assemblies for this model and that the part was on back order. estimated time frame the dealership expected the part was mid august. a general internet search revealed many similar stories of ford freestyle owners with similar year cars with similar mileage i suggest an investigation be conducted into why there is a shortage of this part ie to many similar model cars with faulty parts to keep up with demand. this poses as safety concern for my family as unexpected surges could lead to fatal accidents. *tr

2007 ford freestyle surged forward as i was stopped for a traffic light. the "wrench" light illuminated on the dashboard. i took the car to my local ford dealership where i purchased it. i was told the diagnostic code indicated the electronic throttle control assembly module needed to be replaced. the installation would cost about $700. the part was ordered in late july. it is now october and the part has not arrived. the problem has not re-occurred. it was very hot that day and the a/c was on. *tr

First: i drive a 2007 ford freestyle . vin # 1 second: i have had a problem with car surging forward after only a few months of ownership. took the car into local ford dealer to tell them the problem in 08 and they couldn't get the problem to occur while driving. took it back in 09 again with same problem happening a little stronger forward...strong surge from reverse to drive as well as just starting off from stop sign or red light. both of these visits were while my car was in warranty!!!!! last week while having a passenger in my car my car pulled me ,with foot on brake into an intersection. no accident...only scared. while driving to dealership ac went out. like an electrical surge...all odometers tapped out. car continued to run...left at dealership for the weekend for them to tell me that it was the throttle body, which is on backorder for 3 weeks. also told that there was nothing they could do for me even though i had taken it in 3 times for the same problem...2 of which were while in warranty! that afternoon while pulling into walgreen, with my foot on the brake, it pulled me up on a curb...when i backed out to leave from reverse to drive the odometers tapped out and the car shut off completely!!! with the wrench lit up. started car in the middle of the parking lot....no problem starting. power steering felt sluggish. drove back to my office. called ford corporate to be told the same thing that there is nothing they could do as well. i have read on-line that there are tons of issues with this throttle body and obviously ford doesn't care that it is not only a problem but a safety issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! filed a formal complaint with ford and the reference # is [xxx] . thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I own a 2007 ford freestyle and am having problems with sudden acceleration when i am stopped at a light or when i put the car in reverse. it has almost caused me to hit other objects. i am taking the car in on thursday to have it looked at. *tr

I own a 2007 ford freestyle that was surging when in drive or reverse i had to always make sure that i kept my foot on the brake until the surge was over it would also stall the engine sometimes when it surged. i took it into the dealer and was told it was the throttle body and had to wait two weeks for the part to come in. the dealer provided me with a loaner because i didn't feel safe driving the car because it was becoming worse. i would shake you around at times the surge was so strong. it seemed ok when we picked it up but i have put about 8000 mile on it since the repair and i am starting to notice that it is starting to act up again not to a bad point yet but that is how it started out the first time. the repair was 650.00 and it is looking like it will have to be repaired again. *tr

Lunging and lurching at low speeds. dealer diagnosed as throttle body assembly defective. required $525 "pre-payment" before ordering and ford cannot provide eta. i called ford customer care and they confirmed this. throttle body defects are a known problem...and then we are asked for pre-payment for a product with no delivery date. something is wrong here.... *tr

I own a 2007 ford freestyle sel and this event has happened 5 times within the last year. after starting the vehicle and turning on the air conditioning, when the car is shifted from park to either reverse or drive, the car's engine will surge and immediately the service engine light as well as another indicator light will come on. there were two occasions where my wife told me that if she had not had her foot firmly on the brake pedal, she would have struck another vehicle. fortunately that did not happen. i've read that this is a persistent problem with this make and model of vehicle. i've also read that the repair for this is quite expensive. my wife and i both love this vehicle and wish to keep it. *tr

On very hot days, the car will lurch forward when put into gear the first couple of times. *tr

We purchased this vehicle new 8/18/07 from palm coast ford. in may or june 2010 i began noticing the car lunging when backing out of parking spots or once you have backed out and then placed into drive. i also encountered an issue with the car stalling if parked on an incline. on 7.5.10 the vehicle was left for several days with palm coast ford for diagnostics and they claimed nothing was wrong with the car as they could not duplicate the "issues." as this "issue" did not seem appropriate i visited the daytona beach ford dealership but this was not a documented visit as was the palm coast ford visit. the daytona ford service manager indicated it was a just the way the car was designed to prevent stalling when backing up or pulling forward. so i lived with this problem hoping that it wouldn't lunge and hit someone in a parking lot. my brother finally rode with me and said this is not correct so i took the vehicle to a non-ford repair shop who recommended a tune-up be accomplished. this occurred oct. 25, 2011 and corrected the problem. however, now whatever they accomplished with the tune-up is now wearing off as the vehicle has begun it's lunging problem again in the past few weeks. that's when i researched and found these incident reports so i want to report my problem to help you document there is definitely something going on with this make/model car. i like my freestyle but there's definitely an issue with the lunging situation. *tr

Vehicle did not seem to shift as it should. would want to speed up on its own or cut off. check engine light would come on. occurred several times while traveling. had transmission checked and it was fine. found it is the throttle body, the part is ordered and has been several weeks. personal investigation on line indicates numerous other owners of the 2005 through 2010 model have had the same problems and had long delays in getting parts. my concern is it could speed up on its one and cause a wreck or cut off. either situation could be very dangerous to me as well as others. *tr

Vehicle surges without having foot on accelerator. *tr

Not long after i purchased the 2007 ford freestyle, summer came and i was using the air conditioner a lot. i noticed that when the ac was running, especially at high, the car would "lurch" forward at low speeds (probably 5 mph or less ). when i was parking the car, rolling into a parking space, with my foot hovering over the brake pedal, as soon as i got to the proper spot, the car would "lurch". when i would back out of a parking space with my foot hovering above the brake, it would "lurch". this proved to be a scary situation many times as there were cars passing in the parking lot. many times, i could have hit another car. even in the drive through of fast food restaurants with other cars in line, many times i have almost hit the car in front of me. many times, my car has "lurched" and stalled. the wrench light comes on, and if i don't turn the car all the way off in park, the car does not behave properly (as in no acceleration) nor does the wrench light go off. in the beginning, i thought it was something to do with the air conditioner being on high. the problem stopped in the winter when the ac wasn't being used. however, in the summer of 2011, it all started again. my ac went out, so i had it worked on. the problem continued. today, the problem continues. i almost hit a child in a parking lot the other day because my car "lurched". i began searching and found that others are having the same scary problem with their ford freestyles. it sounds as if i am maybe lazy or not too concerned since i haven't had this checked earlier, but frankly, i don't have the money to spend on repairs, so i keep hoping it won't cause a disastrous situation. please investigate this issue before it does become deadly. *tr

At 36,000 miles i began experiencing issues with the car suddenly accelerating and lunging forward if the car is in drive or backward if the car is in reverse. it happened once then. the next time it happened at 39,000 miles and has been occurring regularly ever since. now at 40,000 miles. the issue usually happens when the ac is running and it is hot outside. i took it to ford dealer and they could not duplicate the issue after keeping it for 3 days. the service guy said it was probably the throttle bottle issue that everyone has been having. i've had several occasions where i would be pulling into a parking space and nearly hit a car parked in front of me. most recently it happened with the car in reverse. the motor accelerated more so than ever before. i held the brake and the car stalled. when i started the car again the wrench light was on. the car had very little power while the wrench light was on. ford has no remedy. the part is unavailable. am i supposed to drive this car? what happens when it accelerates and hits somebody. my wife and children are driving my car until this is resolved. i will not put them in harms way even though ford clearly has. i expect ford to recall and replace this part immediately. *tr

When i put my car in drive or reverse and sometimes while idle it will accelerate highly without me touching the gas pedal and if i don't have my foot on the brake it will just take off. it will then try to go forward or backward and sometimes goes dead and wont let me re-crank it for a few minutes. it started out doing this every once in a while. now it does it all the time. if im not careful im afraid it will ram into another vehicle or even person if im in a parking lot. this started approx a year ago off and on and recently started doing it enough for me to be able to get it looked at. ford dealership says its the throttle body. i see that this has been a problem for several vehicle types with the same throttle body problem, there still has not been a recall and it can be dangerous. after purchasing a brand new vehicle you would think the parts would be of top quality and not break after just a few years especially the throttle body. the throttle body is one of the main parts of the powertrain. *tr
