CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 23 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 1

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Ford Focus

Please assist with investigating the ford dsp6 automatic transmission installed in the focus and fiesta. this transmission is unsafe for operation. defects can cause lose of power while accelerating, delayed shifting with grinding and shuddering, slipping into neutral, and surging/ difficult to control at low speeds. ford is well aware of this issue and has offered several "bandaids" none of which has permanently corrected the issue. the transmission suffers from poor driveability and electrical issues. i am afraid that the delay in acceleration/ shudder/ powertrain stumble will cause an accident one day. i had my clutch replaced under warranty however the symptoms have returned. ford has been less than responsive to its customers, dealer can be difficult to work with as the issues are not always immediately reproducible. this is a major issue that will unfortunately cause someone to lose their life. please hear the warnings from concerned dps6 owners and immediately open an investigation.

From a stop the vehicle has a major problem with acceleration 0-30 seems to be where it's at. the vehicle shudders, revs rpms, de-accelerates, slow to accelerate to speed, and has a metal grinding sound on acceleration. this is not once or twice this is every time that the car has to slow down and pick back up speed. i am afraid to pull out into traffic b/c i don't know that my car will make it up to speed fast enough to not get me rear-ended. the car shakes like it's going to fall apart when we accelerate and almost feels like it doesn't want to go into gear. this is the second ford vehicle that this has happened to my first was a 2012 that had a recall ford wouldn't honor until the part broke and left me stranded on a bridge on my way home from work at night. this is a 2014 that i'm afraid to drive around in with me child b/c it feels as if the car is going to drop my transmission in the middle of the road. i'm also reading that it has problems braking with this acceleration issue and will jolt out into traffic at a stop light. this is from every stop getting ready to accelerate again. my car only has maybe 10,500 miles on it and i've only had it maybe 8 months. ford says they will keep fixing it if it breaks under warranty, but my warranty is only so long then i have to pay for fords' mess up out of my pocket. i don't have that kind of money.

My car has been a problem since i purchased it new in december 2013. it would make a loud grinding noise, slip when shifting or when downshifting to come to a stop, bog down when taking off and also jerk when shifting after taking off from a stop. i've taken it to the ford dealership several times for the issues and they fixed the clutch once but even since then it still has issues shifting. also since then i've had to replace the fuel pump as there was a recall on it for my car which the dealership was surprised by because it was the first of this recall they had seen for this car. i've also called ford headquarters twice personally to see about a buy back or trade deal and they said they could do nothing for me at this time. this car is a brand new, junk, safety hazard and needs taken off the road but ford will do nothing. i'm disabled so if it causes a crash i will die instantly and then they will have a big lawsuit on their hands from my family. i've also contacted attorneys and am part of the class action lawsuit for this car as well as speaking to a lemon law attorney. all they would have to do is step up and except responsibility for this and make it right but they won't do anything.

Transmission shudders and bucks in first and second gear. loses power when shuddering. difficult if not life threatening to drive at low speeds around town, in rush hour traffic. brought in for recall and had transmission re programmed, but is now worse than before. did research online regarding issue and found many with the exact same issue. vehicle purchased 4/14 and has less than 15k miles. this is in addition to fuel pump recall that i received 11/15 and parts for that recall are still not available 3/16.

This car has given problems since 3000 miles transmission shudders and looses power on take off ford has replaced clutch 2 times also tcm twice the tcm is being replaced again or reprogrammed .this does not fix the problem the car is a safety issue because of lack of power going into traffic. i hope their will not be a death because of it. going on highway car vibrates badly in city traffic car hesitates

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shuddered upon acceleration. the vehicle was taken to two different dealers, including jack demmer ford (734-721-2600, located at 37300 michigan ave, wayne, mi 48184) where the computer software was reprogrammed. the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the clutch assembly was replaced. the dealer stated that a certain amount of shuddering was normal. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

Having several issues with the transmission it is shuddering hesitating jerking surging. has been to the shop approx. 8 times now and only has 12500 miles on it problem started at 5000. the shop kept telling me it was normal well it got worse was almost t-boned in an intersection when it decided to hesitate in the middle, took back to dealer again they kept it for 2 days they were getting ready to send it back to me when it finally acted up on them, they almost wrecked it in an intersection as well. they reprogrammed it several times, put a tcm in it which made it a little better for awhile now its doing it again the dealer is finally going to put clutches in the transmission but was told it will be a few months to get the part since they just did the 16th redesign of the clutches. the nhtsa needs to get off their butts and recall the focus before someone gets killed its a major safety issue

2014 ford focus se with 6 speed automatic dual clutch (ddg) transmission, vehicle is 15 months old with approximately 16,600 miles on it. the transmission has developed severe shuddering hesitation and clunking especially in low gears at low speeds. vehicle acceleration is unpredictable at low speeds and may pose a safety hazard due to loss of power or possible unintended acceleration. vehicle has been serviced by the original selling dealership numerous times under warranty with no positive outcomes. dealership has recommended that the transmission be removed from the vehicle and serviced internally, but they state they have not been able to furnish the appropriate replacement parts for over a month.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at any speed, when the gear shifter was shifted to the drive position, the vehicle hesitated before it accelerated. the vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be reprogrammed. the transmission was reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 4,500.

Takata recall . i have a 2014 ford focus bought may of 14, today i was driving down road my check engine light came on & my transmission stopped pulling. put it on computer at auto zone it says clutch sensor. won't even go in gear now. i have 73,000 miles 13,000 past warranty. i am not happy. also my drivers seatbelt sometimes won't latch.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the clutch failed and the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was taken to courtesy ford lincoln (1313 ne 122nd ave, portland, or 97230, (503) 255-1771) where the clutch was repaired and the power train control module was reprogrammed. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 34,475. *tt consumer stated vehicle shudders on acceleration, inconsistent acceleration no check engine light. dealership reprogrammed & cm. on march 2016 vehicle shudders on acceleration inconsistent acceleration. no check engine light. dealership replaced the clutch. on august 2016 recalled transmission dealership replaced the clutch. in august of 2016 recalled transmission was replaced. on may 2017 vehicle shudders on acceleration: inconsistent acceleration and no check engine light. dealership replaced the clutch. on feb. 2019 vehicle shudders on acceleration inconsistent acceleration no engine light. dealership replaced clutch. the check engine light has not illuminated during any of these situations. each replaced clutch has failed to work safely and predictably. the vehicle shudders and hesitates at all speeds when accelerating from one gear to the next. the vehicle does not predictability and reliability accelerate into traffic at highway speeds. the dealership has replaced each clutch. the manufacturer extended my warranty but will not buy the vehicle back. a class action lawsuit exists for this problem.*jb

A few weeks after we purchased a new 2014 ford focus it shuddered a little a few times upon starting from a dead stop. dealer said car had a manual automatic transmission & this was normal. the car was searching for a gear & after a break in period it would stop. around 7,000 miles while the car appeared to be running okay a service transmission light came on with a red triangle. i immediately pulled off into a parking lot. i turned the car off to see if the message would still appear. it didn't but although the gear shift went into reverse the car wouldn't move backward even after several attempts. after the tow truck arrived it did back up but i was afraid to drive it the 55 miles to my home. tow truck driver could see that there were warning messages but couldn't get the computer to show the information about the warnings. after it was towed home i tested it again & it went backwards okay. i did take it to the dealer who admitted that there was a problem & supposedly fixed it. then while going from store to store christmas shopping the car started to shudder, pretty violently now, upon acceleration from dead stops at almost every red light. i thought the car wasn't going to make it through a few intersections especially on hills. since then the car has only shuddered once. so because it's so intermittent it's almost impossible to take it to the dealer while this is happening. i also share the same fear that others have about pulling out in traffic or accelerating to pass because i also experience loss of power almost daily. it seems as though it drops down a gear or can't kick into a gear. these transmission issues are dangerous & after reading many similar complaints it appears that ford is brushing them off. have had other problems with the computer as well. our first new car & it's heartbreaking to think we have a lemon. thinking of contacting an attorney.

Transmission is defective. fuel delivery system is defective vehicle stalled while turning left. almost got hit by oncoming traffic

Vehicle quit accelerating while trying to make a turn into oncoming traffic. engine didn't die but coasted for 2-4 seconds. severe transmission shudder and grinding in separate incidents. has been to dealer 4 times and they can't determine the problem.

When the car accelerates from a stop, the car shudders and vibrates and has a rattling noise. i have taken this car three times for this problem. the ford dealer has told me that there is a problem with the focus. they told me that it's an automatic with a manual transmission.

2014 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to vehicle high rpm symptoms and transmission shudders while driving. consumer wants dealership to buy back vehicle. *smd the consumer stated in his opinion, the vehicle was still not shifting properly after the dealer made the repairs. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 5 mph, the transmission exhibited hesitation in a severe jerking motion. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and the engine was turned off. after restarting, the transmission failed to shift gears and the low tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions where the power train control module was reset each time. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who test drove the vehicle and confirmed that the transmission did not function properly. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,361. updated 06/21/16*lj the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired, it no longer hesitates. however, it became slow to accelerate from a slow speed or stopped. *js

Despite taking my car in multiple times for repair (including software updates and a new clutch at 19466 miles), the transmission has been shuttering, shaking, slipping, and has a hesitant/ delayed response when accelerating from a stopped position (e.g. making a left hand turn to cross an intersection with oncoming traffic). i feel extremely unsafe especially when accelerating to cross an intersection because the automatic transmission will have a delayed response transferring power to the rear wheels despite pushing the accelerator and will continually shutter, slip, and shake while getting up to speed thus making a slow and uncertain acceleration. this can severely limit my ability to move my car out of harms way.

Car has under 9000 miles and bought brand new with 12 miles from dealership 9 months ago. dealership said nothing was found wrong during several test drives. experienced crunching/grinding sound, and slipping during acceleration from standstill, jumping/jittering effect until speed was obtained. made trip to dealership on personal time with the significant other. met up with service dept. general manager, took a little drive and too one's surprise, was able to fully replicated the original issues without fail. it is currently being fixed as of writing this. did further research and come to find out thousands of complaints being filed against ford motor company about this very issue. some have raised concerns about unexpected acceleration issues and fears of driving according to documented, readable online complaints. how many have to die before ford is held accountable. this is a proactive concern not a reactive what happen issue! will not be losing our family due to corporate cover up.

I bought a 2014 ford focus last month with 27k miles and it shudders in lower gears upon take off and then vibrates. the longer the car runs the worse it gets. i am afraid to drive the car long distances or long periods of time for fear of mechanical failure. the dealership reset the transmission control module to "learn my driving habits" but that did not work. i was told to drive it for 500-1000 miles before it would fix itself. it is still doing it after the tcm reset. i am taking it back again because it is not safe or reliable to drive.

Bought this vehicle brand new and every time i accelerate their is a shutter with the transmission. it feels like it cannot determine what gear is next or what gear it is going to shift too. happens when i accelerate and also when i slow down and then try to accelerate again. i was hoping that this wasn't serious but reading all the other complaints, it seems like it can be the same or similar issue.

I took my car to get fixed under the recall for the 2014 ford focus, it was fixed (so they said) but a month later the problem still persists. it jerks while accelerating and it also stalls.

The transmission on this car is absolutely awful and dangerous. ford tries to say "slight shuttering is a normal characteristic of the transmission" and that it's just something to get use to. it's unbelievable that they are saying this. the car is very dangerous to drive because you have no idea when it is going to shudder or have delayed acceleration. whenever you come to a complete stop and you go to accelerate the car bucks shakes and stutters to the point that it's just plain embarrassing and not driveable. it drives completely fine on the highway, but once you have to stop at any stop light or sign it's awful. you can absolutely forget bumper to bumper traffic because it feels like the car is going to explode. one top of all of that it can't even make it up a parking garage. it was terrifying when i found this out and almost caused many accidents. when you go to pull onto the highway or turn in front of a car the focus will stutter and stall and almost caused many accidents that way as well. all ford does to fix these issues is reset the computer and say the car "needs to relearn your driving patterns, and not to bring it back for at least 500 miles." this is a complete lie and the car drives great for a week and then goes back to being awful. then when the problem continues they will just say they need to replace parts but it's the same awful stock parts. we didn't want to deal with driving this car anymore and bringing it back to the dealership all the time. we traded it in for a subaru crosstrek and lost a ton of money, but it was the best decision we made. i feel terrible for whoever is going to end up buying that dangerous car. the thing is, after you let the car sit for a day or two, the first 20 minutes you drive it, it drives great! so the buyer will definitely be deceived. we also joined the class action lawsuit and hope to get some money back.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate from a stop. the contact had to remove his foot from the accelerator pedal in order for the vehicle to accelerate. the failure recurred four times. the vehicle was taken to the jc lewis ford dealer in savannah, ga where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed due to age and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that a few years ago, the transmission was reprogrammed, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that his vin was not included in a recall. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Vehicle has a clunking noise from the engine area

Vehicle's transmission shifts into other gears while in drive. three separate times it has went into reverse. twice while coming from a stop, once while in mid drive. my vehicle was in the shop a total of 57 days so far this year, got it back on friday after a field service engineer came to look at it. they were unable to replicate any issues with the transmission, but would not certify it as "safe." today, i was driving at 65 mph on the highway when the engine revved high and the dash display showed i was in park. it limped to a stop on the highway then flashed "transmission not in park p" before it shut down. after calming my nerves just a bit, i was able to restart the vehicle. i was about 4 miles from the dealership and was able to drive it (slowly) to them. i was able to snap a photo showing the vehicle in park doing 65mph with an rpm of 3500. however, from previous experience, this is not "proof" if the issue is not duplicated by ford directly. so to date at 19,970 miles, the vehicle has went out of gear 4 times. the vehicle stopping on a highway by going into reverse and park is not a safe condition that could lead to a crash.

I purchased my 2014 ford focuse se hb in february of 2015. around 13,000 miles the car began erratically shifting in second and third gear while driving. having trouble stopping and going again at stop lights. after waiting 8 weeks to get a "new" clutch, the next day the car was grinding horribly when turning. took it back in and they said it was "fixed" now. the car is still having shifting problems and drives very hard on both city and highway. i have noticed the car lunging forward when attempting to stop, making me very uneasy for my safety in this vehicle. when i asked them to fix it again they said there was nothing they could do, that they didn't see anything wrong with the car.

Transmission of this car has intermittent bucking, slipping conversely with sudden acceleration in lower gears which happens at different times but always when it's in a starting gear. once it is going over 35 mpg, it's okay. i wasn't notified of a recall until i ran a vehicle health report on my car and then i had to contact my dealer for this service. i took car in for service today and found out that the clutch needs to be replaced (it's an automatic transmission) i have read about these cars and that most of them have faulty transmissions and that ford isn't doing anything about this. ford, apparently, knew that this transmission is faulty and still let dealers sell them. how do i join a class action suit against them?

When taking off from a stop, the car feels like its slipping, jumping and jerking. making it scary to pull out when traffic is coming. three service managers at three dealerships have all said its the transmission design and that ford is aware of the problem but doesn't have a fix other than to replace the clutches in the automatic transmission approximately every 12,000 to 15,000 miles

I bought this car oct of 2015; i took it back the next day becuz the transmision was shuttering and stalling. the dealer took it to ford said it was the clutch and transmission shift module and everything is on back order. ive been waiting ever since for ford to fix it. they tried to adjust it , little help. this is an ongoing problem with this dual clutch 6 speed and ford wont admit its a problem , even though on line numerous complaints on this issue. i need help

I purchased the car on 1/13/2015 as a ford certified used vehicle with 6,340 miles on the odometer. on the way home the car lurched in traffic nearly rear ending a car coming to a stop in front of me and had a loud crunching noise. i was able to stop, and it appeared to function well enough to continue home although it did not have the same amount of power. no warning lights came on but i called the dealership to report the issue. i was told at this time that this "was supposed to happen" and that this was a "special type" of transmission. i did not believe this and asked to have an appointment to have the car looked at. on 1/20/15 it was found that something had "failed" in the automatic clutch and that the car would need a new clutch. i got the car back on 1/22/15 with a set of instructions for "green clutch brake-in". the car appeared to be functioning properly until approximately 12,000 miles when i started to notice significant shuddering and reduced power when accelerating in traffic, this was especially scary when trying to merge with freeway traffic. on 5/19/15 the car was verified to have an issue and the dealership reprogrammed the transmission control module to correct the shuddering. this appeared to correct the problem temporarily, but the car began to shudder again and also appeared to pop out of gear while trying to accelerate up a hill. the dealership reprogrammed the tcm again on 10/13/15 and determined it should be good to go. then 10/27/15 while traveling at 75 mph on the freeway with cruise control on, the transmission experienced only what can be referred to as "catastrophic failure" at 21,500 miles. we are still awaiting word from the dealership as to how this is going to be fixed and if or when we should get the car back. i have all service record copies available.

Multiple dates of incident, the one listed below is the most recent. vehicle shudders, jerks, and shakes while in motion, often on streets, sometimes on highways. can occur when either going forward, backward, or making a turn. sometimes jumps forward when first placing foot on gas (rather than smoothly accelerating) and has twice stalled out while driving. have brought it to the dealer's service station four times, and each time has had it "adjusted" only to have problem return. have contacted ford customer care, been referred to ford regional manager, and told, based on our service history, we don't meet company "guidelines" for a buyback or replacement. was told he could not legally tell me what those "guidelines" are. this is playing with public safety. did not use vehicle for over three weeks, tried it yesterday, same problem. it is back at the dealer for servicing but was told they might not "get to me" for a few weeks. useless as a safe mode of transportation.

Car stopped driving on interstate 66 no power though engine was running this was only two weeks after having a new clutch for juddering and shaking and jumping forward this incident was life threatening

Transmission doe not shift gears properly. car bucks and lurches on starting and feels like it is about to stall. dealer does not seem to have proper remedy

This is new accident that occurred. this car was purchased and driving home started loosing power, shifting hard, not accelerating, jerking, the transmission seams to want to fall apart, shuttering, banging. i was almost hit when the power cut out on highway. then when i get in city, the transmission again lost power, and i was almost hit, car had to swerve, then jolted and skipped in intersection. i immediately took it to ford dealer, they said it was normal and were extremely rude and negative. i took it to a second for dealer and they informed me that there were open recalls and they reprogrammed the transmission and that the vehicle needed new clutches. they said they will order and it could take several months. the reprogramming made the vehicle significantly worse. unsafe. i contacted the dealer again, they said it was nothing they could do until they get the part. i contacted ford manufacture. they informed me they will contact the dealer. it has been two months and the dealer, i have contacted the dealer 13 times and they inform me it would be several more months, i contact ford manufacture and they said that what there telling me is incorrect and they will call them. again, months into driving and unsafe car, that they know is unsafe, two dealers and ford involved i cannot get any help even when they say the car is broken. so i'm driving this vehicle at low speed three days ago, turing left, in rain and gravel and the the transmission sputter, loses power, then jolts and skips into the curb. damaging my rim, tire was scraped and made my alignment worse. i called cspd to file police report and no other property or curb damage they do not come out. this again scared me and i sold the car last night because it is dangerous to drive and i could not get for to fix it. loosing significant monetary taxes, fees, price.

I purchased this vehicle new in october 2013 from a local dealer. it was not disclosed to me at the time of purchased that the transmissions on this car was one that was experiencing problems and was a known fact by ford motor co. i started experiencing issues with my transmission a few months ago that have progressively gotten worse: jerking, noises, not properly shifting, lurching forward, stalling. i have recently learned that this problem has been present in the ford fiesta and focus models for a few years. i took the car into the dealer service department, only to find out what i already suspected, that i need a new clutch. one was ordered but i was given my car with the defective clutch to drive until the new clutch comes in (4-6 weeks estimate). i feel cheated and unsafe. big corporate wins again. consumers are out on a limb. i have filed a complaint with ford motor co.

I have escaped being hit multiple times with my car doing this. i have a fear i am going to be rear ended or killed because of my car. the car stalls on the road there is something wrong with the transmission our car has been at the dealership for over a month, second time on the transmission jerking and stalling on the road when you would be stoped at a red light then in motion it jerked when you increased your speed, very unsafe to drive and no one is doing nothing about it. ford can not fix the problem. should be a national recall. . not japordizing my family life for a car that stalls on the road.

Vehicle had a recall on the transmission control panel. it was reset by ford dealer in champaign. not long after pulling into a drive way heard a loud pop and gas and break would not work. had to have towed to ford, and they ended up ordering a replacement part. they then replaced the transmission control panel. i am still having issues and my car is only 13 months old. when i am at a stop sign and press the gas the car starts kicking before it will take off. the car makes grinding sounds and the gear needle is unstable (tachometer). the problem has not been fixed i have a follow-up appointment but they keep telling me it's fine and i have to drive it 1,000 miles before i will know if problem is fixed. there is a lawsuit going on and appears to be a dangerous problem and do not want to risk getting hurt/accident over this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the transmission clutch shuttered without warning. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the transmission control module was reprogrammed. the dealer proceeded to remove the transmission to replace the dry clutches. the failure recurred and the dealer repeated the same remedy. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Transmission shudders, lurches, stalls, fails to shift, will take off, and then suddenly stop in traffic. currently 31,000 miles, issues began with 15,000 miles. in first second and third gear, the car will either shudder or lurch out suddenly no matter the speed. at times it will lunge forward and come to a stop while trying to upshift, suddenly, in the middle of intersections and at stop signs. this has caused me to nearly rear-end other drivers, and other drivers to nearly rear end me. it has also caused me to come to almost a complete stop in oncoming traffic after leaving a stop sign. you must completely let off the gas, and then slowly accelerate until the car catches a gear and can get moving again. sometimes this does not always happen soon enough before oncoming traffic reaches me. my car has already been re-programmed, and i'm awaiting an 8-12 week recall for a clutch. was told by the dealership that this is normal behavior for a manual transmission. i've driven manuals all my life, and they didnt nearly kill me. before this car, i purchased a 2013 ford fiesta, it has the same issues. after replacing the clutches failed to fix the safety issues. i traded it on the focus thinking i had a lemon. now i'm having the same safety issues as before. i let the dealership know this morning that the car was a definate safety concern, and i got no response. i want this on record in case of an accident that causes injuries. i'm not safe driving this car on the road.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the clutch assembly failed twice at approximately 10,000 miles. the clutch assembly was replaced twice by bob maxey ford of howell (2798 e grand river ave, howell, mi 48843, (517) 545-5700). the dealer indicated that the same oem clutch assembly needed to be replaced again. the failure was a known issue by the manufacturer; however, a newly designed oem clutch assembly had not yet been developed. the contact was informed that the part may need to be replaced every 10,000 miles. the manufacturer was notified and suggested that the same oem clutch assembly be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was not available. *bf *tr

Auto has been shuttering , sometimes lounging, and slow acceleration. took car for regular maintenance and reported it. dealer said they would be extending my warranty as this is a know problem. (i know 4 different people with similar issue). after taking car in for service, the diagnosis was bad clutch assembly. next day received call saying ford motor is saying this is not a covered car for this issue, even though it the same issue many others have reported. currently driving a car that could be dangerous as it is not consist on acceleration.

Transmission shutter continues after recall service for transmission recall module.

The clutch in my 2014 ford focus has now been replaced 3 times, with the most recent time being this week. i purchased this car in feb. '14, and it has 30k miles on it. when the clutch needs to be replaced, the car shudders and jolts coming out of first gear, leaving me unsure of whether it will accelerate properly. the vehicle is sluggish when accelerating through the gears, especially when driving up a hill. once the vehicle maintains a constant speed, the problem is resolved until i stop or slow down. the dealership does not seem to be able to fix the problem. in fact, it just keeps getting worse. the first time that i took the car in to have it inspected for the shuddering (~11k miles; aug '14), it was displaying problems above 400 rpm. the second time that i took the car in for the same problem (~23k miles, may '15), i had nearly been in an accident in rush hour traffic in atlanta, ga, and the car failed the clutch test at 400 rpm. this last time that i took the car in to be repaired (30k miles, sept '15), it was failing at 500 rpm. a ford representative told me that the car is considered unsafe to drive at 550 rpm. nonetheless, they still left me to drive the car for 3 weeks while i waited on the part to come in and the dealership to have the availability to see me. when i picked the car up from the dealership yesterday for the third clutch to be replaced, i drove ~5 miles and heard a strange noise coming from the front driver's side wheel at all speeds. i immediately informed the dealership, who requested that i bring the car back in to be further inspected. i am awaiting further information about this latest incident.

The automatic transmission and clutch shifts irregularly and "stutters" on starts and occaisonally when driving at relatively constant speeds. accelleration is uneven when it does this and the performance is hard to predict. this makes merging onto freeways, entering cross traffic, and other time/performance critical maneuvers uncertain. the car has been seerviced three times for this issue and has had the transnmissionb reprogrammed twice and a clutch is on order.

My car has transmission problems. the transmission jerks, shakes, hesisiates, and shudders. when i am stopped, and then i start again it feels like my car is going to stall. the freeway is even scarier. the dealer claims they fixed my car but i am still having the same problems. i think it needs a whole new transmission.

Vehicle transmission shakes, shudders, or pulses on initial acceleration within city traffic. misses shifts causing car to surge or hesitate in traffic. two software updates and replacement of clutch assembly reduced but did not eliminate the issue. drivability is extremely poor and unpredictable particularly in stop and go traffic.

Transmission shudders when shifting at low speeds. computer has been reset 3 times after ford recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. when attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle jumped as if it would accelerate at a high speed. the dealer stated that there may be an issue with the transmission; however, they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to move forward and shook forcefully. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the transmission slipped while shifting into gear. the dealer made three attempts to reset the computer system, but the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 49,000.
