Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. on several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted into first gear without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. darcars ford lanham (located at 9020 lanham severn rd, lanham, md 20706, (301) 459-1100) was contacted by phone and informed of the failure. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

While driving the truck at speeds of 40-60 mph the transmission automatically downshifts to a lower gear (6th to 1st) and the transmission starts shifting gears very erratic then smooths out and shifts back to 6th gear. very concerning and unsafe especially when on the highway or in heavy traffic situations

Output speed sensor the recall was put out on feb 12th 2019 and at this point they still don't know when the software will be available to correct the issue. this truck is our daily driver and i am traveling with our child - they say the recall could cause the transmission to drop from 6th gear to 1st gear - this does not make me feel safe. we are going on 3 months now - i called today and they still have no idea when the software will be available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving approximately 50 mph and attempting to apply the brakes, the gear downshifted on its own. also, the wrench symbol and check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was towed to plaza ford (410-838-3100, located at 1701 bel air rd, bel air, md 21014) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train) was only for the reprogramming of the power train control module. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 163,000.

Vehicle is down shifting to gears while the car is in motion, causing the vehicle to come to a abrupt stop. i was going 55 mph and the vehicle down shifted without notice, causing the vehicle to swerve into on coming traffic. this has happen several times, i do not feel safe operating the vehicle. took it to the dealership and was told that there was nothing that they could do to fix the issue, due to the engineers had not came up with a solution. i was given an estimation date of june of when ford would have a system upgrade. meanwhile, i stuck with a truck payment for a vehicle i cannot safely drive.

Erratic shifting when driving. would downshift from 5th to 1st randomly at high speeds. when put into drive in parking lot would start transmission in 5th and not move. suspect it is the lead molding frame in the transmission that is causing the issue. ford issued a recall for all lead mold frames for the 2011 and 2012 f150s but it is clear it is still plaguing the 2013 and 2014s.

I have open recall with no remedy available. one dealer did repair when there is no remedy available!!! another dealership confirmed about no remedy and no way to fix it. now ford giving me hard time with buyback because if that 'repair' by their dealership. i attach info

Have taken our truck twice to the dealer we bought from (chevy dealer) for transmission problems and they haven't been able to find anything wrong. the transmission feels like it will randomly slip into neutral, and when i say randomly i mean while going 60mph on the highway or from driving after stopping at a stop sign or traffic light. we press the gas and get nowhere. sometimes, we switch into neutral, then back into drive and that fixes the problem, but it mostly happens as we are driving, which causes our speed to slow dramatically. it takes around 20-30seconds for it to right itself. we bought our truck in june 2018 and the first time this happened was 3wks later while we were on vacation. now it happens regularly/daily. we were hoping it was just a transmission fluid problem, since the last time we took it to the shop (jan.9, 2019), they changed the fluid and it seemed to be working fine, however this happened again just a few days ago.

While driving at approximately 40 mph. the transmission started to randomly change to 1st gear then to 3rd, 5th, 1st. causing the truck to temporarily lock up the rear wheels and buck uncontrollably. very frightning. almost causing loss of control of the vehicle.

Tranmissiom shif to first speed

Downshifts into 1st... still...after the recall appointment. reset, but continues and we have only had the truck a short time. it has almost caused a few wrecks and one with a trailer pulling machinery. we bought this truck to have a newer truck to haul our horses as well, and cannot do that. this needs to be taken care of! we have all ford f 150's in our family and hate to have to change to something else if this cannot be resolved. a new transmission/??? is it going to take a death to fix what is wrong??? truck is always in motion and at various times when this happens. no warning, can be fine for days then happens all of a sudden. street, highway, doesn't matter. and now it's not wanting to come back down after shifting back up from 1st. not sure what to do now. can't sell in good conscious to someone, so it sits. beautiful truck, just bad tranny. oh, and also, the truck thinks the rear door is open and it's not, which keeps us from being able to lock it as well as the lights remain on for a bit after shutting off (using the battery). not sure if this has a recall or not.

While driving and in 6th gear on a 2 lane rd, the truck shifted down into 1st and caused me to slide off the road. wheel almost locked up. i turned the truck off and restarted about 10 minutes later. placed the shifter in manual and used manual to get home. they next day truck ran but engine runs rough and trans acts up now and then.no damage but now the truck doesn't run right. i cleared the codes but not much better.

Today while driving 70mph my truck shifted to 1st gear causing the truck to lock the rear tires, swerve from left to right, rpm's to the max rev limit, loss of power, dash cluster went blank, wrench symbol showed up, then wrench symbol was gone with a blank dash cluster. truck then jumped to 3rd gear, back to 1st, then back up to 5th gear. pulled over turned of truck, took out key, re-started truck and issue was gone. this has happened multiple times, however, i was at 10-20mph. once at 55mph shift to 3rd gear, back to 5th, then to 1st, up to 3rd. every time the truck will end up at 3rd gear. the truck will not shift down to first manually, you must take of in 3rd gear without any power. there was a recall for 2011-2012 ford f150's. there are multiple complaints all over the internet with these same problems all with years ranging from 2011-2017. o feel this is an ongoing problem with a huge safety concern witb your vehicle going from 70mph down to first gear causing the wheels to lock up and swerve all over the highway. do people have to die before ford will recognize this is a problem with many years of the model!!!!! i'm happy my family was not in the truck when this happens. i car pool kids everyday on the highway. would you feel safe doing this knowing that ford knows about this issue from past years. please make these trucks safe!!! i took it to a ford dealer and they hooked up the computer to my truck, and the computer showed 0 codes found. every time this happens you turn off the vehicle, re-start it (sometimes you have to do it multiple times) the truck will drive perfect until it decides to act up again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own. the contact's spouse was driving and pulled the vehicle over onto the shoulder. the driver turned off the engine and waited a while. once the vehicle was restarted, the driver managed to drive home. the contact stated that the service vehicle (wrench icon) illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to produce any failure codes; however, the mechanic stated that a new transmission needed to be installed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 82,000.

Truck downshifts while driving down the road speed sensor jumps around and truck starts jerking back and forth. no lights come on the dash to say anything is wrong. it has done it three times on the interstate. once it did it while not moving it jumped into fog gear and wouldn't shift

I have been having same issue as everyone else , as my 2013 f150 has shifting up and down erratically. driving at steady speeds and all of a sudden shifts up and down from 1st to 5th and 6th gear and back down again suddenly and unexpectedly. which as everyone else has stated it is a major safety problem and ford is not standing behind their product. ford knows of this problem as they have recalled certain years but not 2013 which is apparently just as much of an issue , now that i have taken my truck in for service it will my responsibility to pay at least $1000 to repair maybe more if more problems are found. this is not an isolated problem as there is an issue that spans many years and models of vehicles. the consumer should not have deal this as this a manufacturing issue that has spanned years and many models and is a major safety issue for me and that unsuspecting victim in traffic accidents.

***ongoing lead frame issue, reflashing your transmission does not work*** yesterday, (2/2/2019) , my 2013 f150 with 6r80 transmission suddenly downshifted from 5th gear to 1st gear @ approx. 45mph. this time the guy behind me had to jump a curb to avoid rear ending me, almost hitting a pedestrian. this vehicle had been taken into ford 2 months ago with same issue, they said nothing is wrong because they could find no code, told me to come back when it's "actually broken". took to independent shop, they performed the reflash per ford's 16v-248 recall because this truck is exhibiting the exact same issues. after flash, shifting was markedly harsh from 4th to 5th gear. during this incident, i got a large orange wrench warning that went away before i could photo. pulled into parking lot, transmission stuck in 3rd gear while parked, gauges are blanked out, and airbag symbol is on. was able to get photos of these this time. turned vehicle off for approx 2 minutes and restarted, condition was cleared with no residual warning lights, etc. don't have the money for it, but i'm taking back to independant shop to have lead frame replaced at my own cost. this type of issue is a timebomb that will get someone killed, with so many complaints of this i'm not sure what the hold up is on an extended recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train) was received. after notifying green ford (3800 w. wendover ave, greensboro, nc), the contact was informed that the parts needed for the recall remedy were still not available. the manufacturer was not notified. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

While driving at highway speed vehicle will lose power and mph will drop to 0 and will not shift out of first gear. the dash will display a wrench and the cluster will go blank with all dashes. upon turning vehicle off and back on the dash will clear and the vehicle will drive for a period of time before the issue returns. this is a major safety concern as i had my child in the vehicle when this happened on the highway going 60mph luckily no one was right behind me or i would have for sure been rear ended. i did a code scan and recieve code 0722 which is the molded lead frame inside of the transmission. after doing research i come to find this is a common problem with the 6r80 transmission and there was even a recall on the 2011-2012 vehicles but the 2013 is not included. through online forums and just common research this issue has affected vehicles all the way through 2014 and still no recall. my truck has 55,000 miles on it and was purchased brand new it is now out of warranty and ford wants $895 dollars to replace the molded leadframe although this is a known issue affecting thousands of vehicles. it is a scary and dangerous concern that really needs to be addressed asap. i do not believe i should be liable for a defect that is known and specifically such a major issue that can cause a vehicle to lose power wheels lock up at highway speed.

Transmission shifting to 5th gear from a stop which causes the truck to not be able accelerate. transmission also shifting to 1st gear (from 6th) while operating at highway speeds causing rear wheels to lock up.

Tl* the contact owned a 2013 ford f-150. while driving approximately 55 mph, the rear of the vehicle seized and fishtailed to the right and to the left. the vehicle spun around, struck a couple of trees, rolled over, and crashed into a ditch. there was no warning indicator illuminated. all the air bags deployed. a police report was filed. the front passenger sustained multiple injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was totaled and was towed by the insurance company. the dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. a week later, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the cause of the failure was not determined. the failure mileage was 90,000. parts distribution disconnect.

While in motion on the highway and city streets the transmission downshifts from high gear to low gear. this causes the vehicle to dramatically decelerate and over rev the motor. a code does not appear when the event happens. occasionally a code appears that looks like a wrench. when this code appears the speedometer quits working. the code will not stay on long enough to have it checked out.. i have taken it to the service department. they have done a bump start and changed transmission fluid / filters. it was good for a month then started again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear on its own, the brakes seized, and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to four seasons ford (601 duncan hill rd, hendersonville, nc 28792, 828-693-4281) where it was diagnosed that the output speed sensor failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 93,596. the vin was not available.

Transmission issue. f-150 shifts from 6th to 1st gear when driving at 60 mph. speedometer drops to zero for 2-3 seconds along with tachometer spiking. quickly shift to manual and vehicle recovers. this has happened to me last 3 mornings and am taking to dealer tomorrow. f-150 has 74500 miles on it and have not had any other issues, but this is a big safety concern with some of the other complaints i have read. i'm worried the tires are going to lock up and i'm going to cause an accident if the issue is not repaired. i'm hoping the dealer covers the repair under my extended warranty, but without the codes i'm worried it will be a argument. please add 2013 f-150's to the recall! i've read the lead frame transmission needs to be replaced.

My vehicle suddenly down shifts into 3rd then 1st gear while traveling. i was traveling at 60 mph when the vehicle suddenly shifted into 3rd then 1st gear. this cased the tires to skid on the roadway, nearly causing me to lose control of the vehicle. i see there was a previous investigation into this very problem, but 2013 year models are not included.

Vehicle shifted into 1st gear when in 6th. ran off the road almost causing an accident. called corporate and they said there was nothing they could do. took it to the ford dealership for diagnostics. bad molded lead frame. ordered parts, dealership opened up pan and found metal shavings. did not install parts because they said tranny was no good. ford does not want to fix damaged tranny although vehicle now has recall for this exact issue. contacted both corporate and dealership and pretty much told me there was nothing they can do, although they told me they would fix issue. i been lied too, made believed that issue was going to be fixed. its been over a month of back and forth chirping with both corporate and dealership and im tired of this sick game of making customers believe they will fix the issue and turn right back around and say no. im stuck and in disbelieve. im making a huge deal because i had my 6month old boy in the backseat when this happend and ford could have cared less.

Takata recall. lead frame. transmission part recalled in 2012 and 2011 f150. driving 20 uphill mechanic light came on glad i wasn't on the highway.

While driving at a speed of 60mph on the freeway, the transmission slipped out of gear and revved very high. leaving me stranded in the middle of the freeway. all of a sudden the truck went back into gear, almost causing me to get rear-ended. this happened two other times while driving. another time while driving, all the gauges went blank. i could not see my speed or any other indicator. after pulling over, i turned my truck off and restarted it with no issues. i now have my truck in the shop, and the list of issues keeps growing. i only have 62,000 miles and already seeing some major issues.

When starting the truck and putting into drive, the transmission will shift into 5th gear and remain there. i have to pull over, stop the vehicle, place the transmission into park and restart the engine to clear this error. also, while driving on the highway yesterday, my truck suddenly shifted into third gear. i then recovered shortly into fifth gear before going into 6th gear. the shifting is now intermittently wonky.

We were driving at 60 mph and all of a sudden it down shifted into first gear expectantly locking up the rear tires and almost causing us to crash. turned the truck off then back on and it took me to work. later that day went to lunch and the transmission will slip and not go anywhere, turn it off then back on and it will go again not far, but will go and has no power the dash goes dead the speedometer goes to just ------------- this a huge wrench comes up on the dash. took it to ford and the say the trans is broken. i notice many other fords are recalled for this .. please expand this to the 13 year model as i cant afford 4,000$ when the recker came to get it, he drove it up onto the flatbed, he put it in park and proceeded to get out and it rolled down the recker (in park) please help, somebody's gonna die soon!!

Output speed sensor failure causing transmission to get stuck in gear. occasionally it will shift down in gear as you are accelerating causing a stalling effect to the truck. has happened several times to my young son while driving on the highway at full speed. speedomoter will also go completely dead. usually pulling over cutting off the truck, waiting and restarting will take it out of the 5th or 1st gear it is stuck in. sometimes this takes several tries. very unsafe on the side of a busy road! had 2 transmission shops run diagnostics and it is the faulty speed sensor requiring entire lead frame to be replaced. both shops told me to reach out to ford before i pay to have it repaired with them. same problem as previous ford truck models '11 and '12 that ford has recalled but ford will take no liability for this malfunction. called 2 ford dealerships that both played dumb to the well documented problem. called ford itself and spoke to a csr i presume in another country from the broken english that said only there is no recall...absolutely no help or information from ford. i am having this repaired on my own dime as it is threatening the life of my son and everyone else on the road. shame on ford!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated. the contact stated that this was the third time the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to parkway ford lincoln (311 commercial pkwy, dover, oh 44622) where it was diagnosed that the molded lead frame failed and needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the transmission suddenly downshifted into first gear and the rear wheels locked up until the vehicle almost came to a complete stop. paul cerame ford (11400 new halls ferry road, florissant, mo 63033, (314) 838-2400) and the manufacturer stated that the remedy to repair the failure would not be available until after the second quarter of 2019. a loaner vehicle would not be provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 83,900.

Vehicle erratically shifts from 6 gear to 1st gear, causing tires to lock up. same issue is recalled in 2011-2012 f150, but not covered in 2013. very dangerous issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact stated that the battery cable was removed and then re-installed, and the vehicle functioned normally. after driving 5 miles at 35 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate and lost power. the vehicle was taken to landers ford south (95 goodman rd e, southaven, ms 38671, (662) 349-4300) where it was diagnosed that the speed shaft sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 150,000.

The truck gets stuck in first gear and will not accelerate until the vehicle is shut off and turned on again. the vehicle was in motion on a city street and would not advance to second gear.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle shifted from fifth to first gear without warning. the contact scheduled an appointment to have the vehicle repaired by a local dealer (kelly ford: 420 cabot st beverly, ma 01915). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 46,667.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the transmission shifted from fifth to first gear without warning. the contact was able to drive home and parked the vehicle. the dealer was not notified. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls; therefore, the contact would need to pay for the repairs. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 90,000. *dt*jb

Transmission lost power at 75 miles per hour on the highway. the wrench sign came on dash and then all displays showed -----. additionally, the speedometer stopped working and the air bag light illuminated. when transmission reengaged, it was in 3rd gear, causing wheels to lose traction. i was able to navigate heavy traffic to get to the shoulder, where truck shifted to 5th gear once stopped. i was able to make it off the highway, however, the truck would shift randomly between 3rd, 4th and 5th gear but would not shift in to 1st, 2nd or 6th. grapevine ford dealership pulled code p0722 from 6r80 transmission and determined transmission lead frame was faulty. ford does not accept responsibility and will not pay for this known problem. the 6r80 lead frame has been recalled on 2011 and 2012 f150's but has not yet been recalled on 2013 f150's.

Unexpectedly down shift into 1 gear from 4th while driving 30+ mph, local street driving: happened 4 times, each time i was on an up hill incline, adding power to increase speed. 1st thing that would happen is a loss of torque, shortly after the gear would drop from 4th or 5th to 1st and the drive train would act as a break rapidly bringing the truck to a near stop. speedometer and odometer would zero out.i could get it to reset after a while.

My 2013 f-150 is experiencing the exact same symptoms that are covered under a ford recall for 2011 thru 2012 f150s 16n02 molded leadframe extended warranty recall. the transmission will downshift into first gear all by itself, even at highway speeds, resulting in rear wheel skidding and transmission lock-up.
