We have classified the 56 complaints from 2005 Ford F-150 about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Bad vibration from rear of truck 55-60 mph intermittent. ford state it is aftermarket tires. had truck in 2 times with factory tires and 3 times with new tires for same vibration. pinion angle changed twice on truck causing more vibrations that ford won't fix. now truck is leaking engine oil from rear main. i am afraid to take truck on long trips for fear of driveline failure. numerous complaints on web of same problem. why is ford not made to fix this issue?truck has 6,200 miles on it and almost a year old. this could be a big safety concern if driveline failure occurs at highway speeds. i have been an auto mechanic for 18 years at dealerships and i know a tire vibration from a driveline vibration. *jb
I have a 2003 f-150 with a 5.4 engine. there is slack in the transmission around the torque converter. whwnever you slow down the gently bump the accelerator you hear a bumping noise. is this normal
Dt: the consumer stated 2005 ford f150 surged forward. it felt like cruise control kicked in. he took the vehicle to dealer, and dealership called ford, and they had the accelerator chip realigned. after the vehicle was fixed the surging continued. he continued to contact the dealership and ford. according to customer service the engineers said they could not find anything wrong with it. consumer was currently afraid to drive the vehicle, so was sitting in the driveway. the vehicle was taken in last week, and they kept it for a week, and they stated they could not find anything wrong with it. on the way home transmission slipped and surged forward. dealership and the manufacturer kept telling him to call the other. consumer stated vehicle has been at dealership at least five times, and got a different service manager every time. the problem started the night he purchased the vehicle. *ak
Dt: there is a loud clanking noise in the rear end when taking off and when shifting gears. it jumps so bad sometimes you have to stop the vehicle and let it cool off before resuming ride. it's being having this problem for the past 2000 miles. have taken to the manufactor and the dealer. it's been at the dealer 3 times for this problem alone. no parts have been replaced. the dealer told consumer that if there was no recall they couldn't fix it because all the trucks 2005 f150 regular cabs have the same problem.*ak
While shifting the vehicle into park and getting out of the vehicle, the vehicle went into reverse. the consumer was able to get back into the vehicle and stopped the vehicle. the truck was towed to the dealer. the dealer had to replace the transmission level linkage. *sc *jb
