Smelling exhaust odors inside the vehicle. exhaust smell occurs when you are at full throttle, such as when you are trying to enter a highway. the smell stays in the vehicle, and it is very strong.
Door ajar notification remains on when all doors are closed and vehicle is in motion. alert tone will sound when vehicle starts moving or comes to a stop. auto door locks will not function or doors will not remain locked. interior dome lights remain on until vehicle starts motion. the vehicle was serviced by ford and sensors cleaned under warranty at 25k miles. fix lasted about 4 months. current mileage 67k.
Figured out that the constant annoying flapping noise during cross winds while driving at highway speeds that seemed to be coming from the windshield trim or lower door post was actually coming from a loose panel fastener or shield clip on the inner fender splash shield/skirt. there are several of these fasteners and one was loose enough to allow the shield to vibrate. once that was resecured it hasn't made the noise since.
Purchased my 2013 ford explorer limited with 50 miles on it in november 2012.during 2015 had a strong mold smell, upon investigation found approximately 3'' of water in my spare tire storage area, 3rd row seat shoulder belt wet and carpet under 3rd row seat passenger side soaked.took to ford dealership while under warranty on 4-27-2015 / 32,002 miles, had 17 days.took in under warranty 6-25-2015 with 34,460 miles, had 4 days.took in 3-11-16 with 44,501 miles, dealership sent vehicle to their bodyshop for 4 days.took to dealership 2-14-18 they sent it off sight to jr's automotive to repair water leak.took to dealership 1-20-19 for exact same issue that i have had for approximately 5 years, found water in vehicle same area 2 days later.in the approximately last 5 years i have had 2 cases opened with "ford customer relations center"as described in the manual that came with the vehicle plus filed a claim with bbb when it was apparent that i would never get off of the merry-go-round with ford.bbb turned me down base on too many miles on vehicle which remember is not a mechanical issue but a weather dependent issue.i could have taken vehicle to dealership dozen of times during this period but because of inconvenience without a vehicle and working 12 hour shift work it was just impracticable.all issues with water inside of vehicle was when i checked it after it was parked and of course with rain or melted snow involved and on a city street.
A warning pops up stating shift to park when it is clearly in park. this has been happening for a few months now. have to push the button at front top of shifter a few times to make it sense that it is in park.
The smell of exhaust fills the vehicle sometimes when it is in motion.
I purchased my vehicle from the jennings anderson ford dealer. it had around 17,000 miles on it. shortly after i vehicle, i brought it in because the exhaust fumes are being sucked into the vehicle when i accelerate such as getting on the freeway. david savinich (service adviser) told me that ford was aware of the problem and they had a fix for it. they installed their fix but it is still sucking in exhaust fumes. i talked to jeff asher (service dept manager) and i asked him whether ford had a fix for it. i was told no. i asked jeff to call me if there was a fix. it has been over a year and their is still no repair. i get a bad headache every time i get on the freeway. it is so bad that it also makes me nauseated. i am unable to use the air conditioner recirculatation in the car.
The vehicle sucks in exhaust. i have taken the vehicle in 3 times. the second time they supposedly fixed it but it doesn't work. i have bad allergies. recirculate usually helps by not sucking in the pollen. i can't use the recirculate feature because once it sucks in the air, they recirculate just recirculates the exhaust fumes. when the air is left on normal, i breathe in exhaust when i take of, especially entering a freeway. this gives a serious headache. i have told david savonitch and jeff asher at jennings anderson ford in boerne, texas that i am not satisfied but was told that there is no other fix.
When accelerating, exhaust/gas fumes emitted inside the vehicle through the vent system. fumes are more profound in the rear, inside vehicle. when vent/climate system is off, no fumes. seems to be more profound when ac is operating, nevertheless the fumes accumulate to the rear. started noticing on 11/8/2014 and has worsened each day since. dealer appointment made for 11/12/2014.
Under strain with air conditioning in recycle mode the exhaust fumes fill the cabin of the vehicle. in may 2016 the dealer preformed tsb 14.0130 reprogramming of the hvac module. replaced air extractors and rear fender mouldings. retested it and said it was ok. after doing their repair it did help some but it has not solved the problem.
Hear a thunk when chassis under certain stress. dealership reports it is likely body supports that need to be replaced.
During heavy acceleration ... for example when i'm entering a highway... really strong smell of engine fumes enter the cabin... every time. i have a 2013 ford explorer xlt - very happy with my ford otherwise.
I've noticed this smell every time i turned my car on/off or would get finished driving. it would be in the drivers cabin down at the floor where it came from. i first noticed it there and had mentioned it to ford when there for service. it smells like a natural gas ( like at home ) leak. i'd smell it if he air or heat was on bringing it into the cabin. the same smell would be present when i stopped driving and would op n the door. smelled like it was coming from under the drivers side wheel area. it persisted for the last few years. i've told ford many times but they say there's no recall. or that my car was out of its manufacturers warranty. at the time in 2014, when i really took notice, my car was still under warranty. i bought my car out of its lease in 6 or7/2016 and there were reports of exhaust issues with people having a smell on the cabin. ironic that i've been complaining of this two years prior to it coming out in the news. when asked, i was unsure to buy a car with exhaust issues, they reassured me there were no active recalls. and that the exhaust wasn't a problem. i thought i had roadkill rotting under my car, but after numerous under carriage car washes and theee years later, the car still has that natural gas smell.
When hard accelaration up to 4k rpm exhaust smell or bad odor (something like burnt) comes in from cabin..i brought my car twice at ford service and they do tsb but still no improvement.
Smell gas inside the vehicle. i take twice indicate that you have placed pieces but the continuous smell
When accelerator is opened to full throttle an odd odor is emitted into the cabin. this odor cannot be controlled regardless of ac settings at the front or rear of the cabin. odors can be overwhelming and resembles burning fumes, causes dizzynsss and headaches. *tt *bf
Fuerte olor a monoxido de carbono en interior de la cabina
My 2013 ford explorer xlt has an exhaust smell that enters car when coming to a stop.brought it to several dealership explaining problem one time they changed moldings and body parts but did not resolve issue another time they changed cabin filter but did not resolve. another dealership they couldn't find problem. this needs to resolved i spent a lot of money on this veichle. the smell enters veichle when coming to a complete stop this problem been happening for couple years
Smell exhaust while driving vehicle and odor is really strong
2011-2015 ford explorer there is a "design flaw" in which the internal cabin air vents are sucking in exhaust and carbon monoxide. ford has issued a fix (tsb 14-0130) but not a recall and there is a class action lawsuit. for me it is happening on acceleration and going up steep grades and there is a sulfur/mechanical burning smell that wafts in. the kids and i, as well as anyone else in the car for long durations, have been getting migraines, dizzy and just flat out sick. i drive for work and the dizziness and migraines has become so frequent, as well as mixing up words when i'm speaking, that i was beginning to think something is seriously wrong with me. i passed out and wrecked it when i had only 20,000 miles on it and i kept saying "i don't understand what happened, i just passed out". i had gone up the grade on 101, where the fumes become extremely potent, exited, and had just got on to the ranch road and was going slow and i was (for the most part) un-injured and no one was with me. i have had it in 5 times for the smell but it wasn't until this last time that they told me what was really going on. ford wouldn't pay for the fix even though i have a ford premium 100k mile warranty because their warranty excludes "design flaws" but fortunately henry curtis ford picked up the tab and i had to pay the $100 deductible. while the problem is not happening as frequently, it still happens in certain conditions. ford is refusing to give me a new car. this is a very dangerous "design flaw", which means it's in every explorer out there, including the ones the law enforcement officials drive. every one needs to know and ford needs to do a recall before someone dies...updated 09/15/15 *bf updated 12/05/2017*cn
Exhaust fumes in cabin when accelerated. *tr
Exhaust from the engine comes into the passenger area of the vehicle, especially on long trips causing headaches. at first i thought it was an issue of outside air coming in but i have the button pushed for inside air. this has been an ongoing issue since i purchased the vehicle at the end of 2013.
Exhaust/bad smell comes into passenger area on acceleration.
When accelerating gas fumes smell inside vehicle (rotteb eggs) after couple of hours driving getting bad headache from it. it's very harmful for people inside car, because it my cost co2 poisoning. dealer have no fix for it.
When accelerating inside cab fills with fumes. was fixed once to no success.
Our 2013 ford explorer has been defective since we purchased the suv in may 2013. the main complaint is an exhaust smell inside the cabin with and/or without the rear passenger climate control system switched on. the exhaust smell is so severe at times it causes nausea, dizziness, and headaches. this condition usually occurs with the vehicle in motion, and during light highway driving conditions using normal acceleration. during lane changes or heavy acceleration the condition is worse and requires the windows to be lower to vent the exhaust from the cabin.
At the3200 mileage i experince brake issues rotary had to be replaced .on the first week of july 2015 additional brake work had to be redone.on july10th 2015 while driving the ac unit went out completly while i was driving on a long extended trip barely made it home no air wierd screehin noise. scheduled to go back to repair7-14-15 . i purchase the vehicle july 2014.the vehicle has 36000. very unhappy at this point thinking about returning the vehicle and starting over with some other vehicle
Have a burning smell in the cabin during acceleration. have had it in the dealership several times over three years. they tried several things like sealing under body of vehicle.the last answer we got from them is that ford is trying to figure out the problem.
We noticed something wrong a few weeks after we bought it. when accelerating you would notice a weird smell. the beginning of last year i received a notice of a class action lawsuit involving my vehicle. on 4/16/16 i took i to ford and they said there was a recall, since then i've taken it in 3 times to fix the existing issue. as of now there are time i still get some odor
Since the first week of owning this vehicle, we became aware of a very strong exhaust smell inside the cabin upon hard acceleration. it happens every time. first complained to dealership when i brought in for first oil change and they basically blew me off and claimed they found nothing. that was back in 2013. we have since used a carbon monoxide tester in the vehicle that confirms an issue with levels inside the vehicle. this has occurred repeatedly every time we accelerate hard from the first week we owned the vehicle, to currently. it seems like it might even be getting stronger in smell and lingers longer.
Exhaust fumes entering cabin after acceleration onto freeway or passing. must open windows to clear cabin of fumes. the problem was reported to tommie vaughn motors, inc. in houston, tx after purchase in 2013. i was assured there was no way exhaust fumes could enter the cabin of the vehicle. i have spoken with local dealer hear in galveston, tx and was told ford has not detected problems with explorer models other than police interceptor. please add my vehicle to list of civilian models with exhaust fume issues. date of original occurrence below is approx. as i do not recall the exact date first reported to dealer.
Two issues the power assist failed multiple times when drive at low speeds. the second is the front suspension failed in 2013 multiple complaints ignored by ford and nhtsa. dealer refused to fixed under warranty. this type of vehicle has recalls for these two issues all but the base models and ford refused to repair my vehicle both issues cost over $1000 to repair.
When accelerating a stong exhaust smell is present in the vehicle cabin. this is most pronounced during a long acceleration i.e. when entering a highway. following a period of acceleration we need to open the windows to purge the exhaust from the cabin. this is regardless of the heating/cooling system being on or off, or if the recirculation feature is enabled. the dealership implemented a technical service bulletin for this condition and it had no improvement. *js
In 2013 the dealer refuse to work on the issue while it was under warranty. either the wheel hub and bearings are out or the struts are defective.the sound happens in motion and stationary if moving the steering wheel to the left and right. i have called and complained and was told that there was recalls for this make and model but not with my vin number. was told that a base model isn't that important. called again to report it to ford 2/4/2019 and was told that there are issues with your make and model and there wasn't any thing they could do until nhtsa steps in and direct me to this website.
I just bought a 2013 ford explorer last week and i am having an issue with burnt oil smell getting inside the cabin even with a/c in recirculation mode. it is such a disappointment to pay over 40k for a brand new suv and been dealing with such an issue. i have a newborn and i am afraid to take it with me in the explorer because i guess it is harmful for anybody. first time i bought a ford and i am not happy about my decision to switch brands. i took to the dealership and need to go back on monday to do a system update but i don't think updating the software it's going to solve the problem. i hope someone from ford can read this and pay attention to us because it's not healthy to be driving inhaling harmful fumes. *tr
Exhaust coming into the cab while accelerating.
The vehicle been at the dealership many times because carbon monoxide fume inside the vehicle. this have cause many health problems to me and my wife (such as headaches, drowsiness etc.).
The car has had consistent odor penetration into the passenger cabin since i bought it in october 2012. there is a sulfur-like or rotten-egg smell...almost like natural gas. more recently i am also getting a separate odor of burning oil. the smell is most present when the car's windows are all up and the a/c system is on. the oil smell is also noticeable outside the vehicle. i am concerned that this could be related to the well-publicized issue with police versions of the ford explorer. i am also concerned that the fumes could be toxic and i am being exposed for long periods of time to potential carcinogens.
Fowl smell while driving and having the a/c on. this has been happening since i purchased this vehicle in sept 2012, when brought up at the dealer service centers i was told it was just a dirty in-cab filter. i have been suffering with migraines since this issue and have been diagnosed with severe migraines and several time been diagnosed with flu and respiratory issues that last months at a time with no relief from medication.
Upon mid to full acceleration exhaust fumes enter the vehicle cabin
The exhaust smell in cabin of vehicle is unbearable. we have had our car in for repair of this problem 4 times and once before the fix. they had our car for over a month after the last "fix" was sent out. when driving the car with the air on recirc and you go into passing gear the cabin fills with exhaust smell. this problem is ongoing so for the "when did this happen?" below the answer is always. since june of 2012 we have had this issue and is still present to this date,
When accelerating rapidly a strong exhaust odor enters the cabin of the vehicle. odor results in headache and at times nausea. however, odor is not as prominent if the car accelerates gradually only if accelerating quickly ie...merging onto the highway. this has been a problem since i purchased my vehicle may 10, 2012. i have inquired about this issue multiple times when the vehicle has been in to the purchasing dealer for service and was told each time that "no problem could be found or duplicated".
