Vehicle staled in middle of highway lost all dash lights stereo back up camera dealership could not get car in for a week had it towed to home burnt next day

I started my vehicle and pulled out of my garage as i do each morning. as i went down the driveway at almost idle speed, i could feel a strong resistance (as if the emergency brake was on) and the power steering tightened up. suddenly a strong burning smell filled the car, all of the lights on the dash came on and the ac fan blew on high speed. i immediately reversed back to the garage (100 feet or less) and was barely able to park. there was obviously something burning under the hood as the smell filled the garage. i turned off the car. when aaa arrived to tow it, the car was completely dead. the driver chose not to jump it for fear of doing more damage. my local trusted mechanic advised me that there was a recall on 2012 dodge charger alternators and he believed that it was my alternator that had failed. i had the car towed to arrigo sawgrass dodge where they confirmed that the alternator had in fact failed and was burning. he said the recall did not include my vin and that chrysler would not cover my expenses. my 16 year old son and i were lucky we were in the driveway, lucky the fire didn't ignite while we were sleeping and lucky my son (a new driver) was not faced with a totally disabled vehicle on the road. according to the recall, this failure created a high risk of crash. had we been on any road instead of my driveway, we could have been killed.

Battery protection mode came on. radio shut off hazard lights wouldn't come on windows wouldn't roll up trunk would not open allowing access to battery all electronics went crazy whining noise. then lost all power.

While driving on city street car just stopped.b4 car stopped wipers came on,radio shut off,all kinds of lights lite up on dashboard. car stopped in middle of road causing a very dangerous situation. had car towed to dealership where they informed me alternator was out and paid $950 for new alternator.i researched and found recall on alternator for 160 amp alternator,my car has 180 amp alternator and not covered by recall but everything i read indicates the same dangerous problem as the 160 amp alternator.this is a very serious flaw in this alternator and could easily cause deadly accidents

My blower motor makes a noise when i cut the car off or when i going down the road also my seat keep popping on make a noise i had it fixed at my expense and it lasted about 30 days started again

The car shut down on the highway. all the electical went out. no brakes and no stirring. while in motion. and just took it in for a recall on the safty system a week before.

With out any warning while driving my vehicle on a city street my entire electrical system shut done very rapidly. beginning with the radio shutting it self off, the vehicle then displayed indicator lights saying that my abs system was bad followed by a check engine light indicator. shortly after the check engine light indicator came on a service transmission indicator light displayed followed by all electrical systems shutting down completely. once i was able to pull over the car would not shift into park. i then tried shutting the car off and the car would not turn off. the windshield wipers and other car accessories began to turn on and off on their own. at that time a strong plastic burning smell began followed by smoke from the engine compartment. in order to shut down the vehicle i had to disconnect the battery. the next morning i reconnected the battery to see if the problem had fixed itself. at that point the vehicle started, but still had the same electrical issues from the night before. the only difference was this time the vehicle shut itself off and will no longer start. upon having the vehicle problem diagnosed it appears that the alternator failed without any prior warning causing a complete electrical shutdown of the vehicle. upon further research, there has been a recall for the 2012 dodge charger vehicles concerning faulty alternators in vehicles that are equipped with 160 amp alternators. mine has a 180 amp alternator, but still experienced a short in the alternator as described by recall p60 issued in 2014. upon calling our local dodge dealership we were told that our vehicle was under recall. after towing the vehicle to the dodge dealership we were told that the car was not under the recall list and we would be responsible for paying the towing fees a long with repair fees for the replacement of the alternator.

I says that my car is not on recall for the alternator. however, my alternator went out without warning which almost cause me to crash. all my gadgets on my vehicle, such as, the gauges, radio, windshiled wipers, battery light, uneven road lights were going balistic.it was stalling and puttering. i could not brake my brake got hard which would not let me push down . it did not let me stop. i almost hit a car. i only had enough time to veer over. thank goodness it was not a busy street or highway.it would not let me park my park or anything . i had to push the button to turn off. i was on the highway early that morning with my little girl. it could of happend then . it could have been fatal. someone needs to check into this. i think my car is one of the recalls. please help

Was driving on the highway aprx. 70 mph, when "battery saver mode" message came on. i disconnected phone charger, turned off audio, ac, and daylights. suddenly, the displays and dash needles went up and down (looked like a computer virus). the car stalled in the middle of the highway, and the alternator burned ( smoke coming out of the hood). my car has only 53,000 miles, and never had signs of faulty or near-dead alternator. well, the new battery $200, new 180 amp alternator was $500, plus labor. called chrysler and they say the recall p60 is for 160 amp alternator, but it seems that a lot of people are having the same issue with the 180 amp alternator. so my repairs were out of pocket (which is just money...very needed money), but being almost hit by the coming i-95 traffic and having a car that is about to burn, well that could have ended in a tragedy. thanks god my insurance roadside assistance came to help. still intrigued why this 180 amp alternator is not in recall, when its already a fact that this "small defect" could cause a fatal accident . . .

I was driving approximately 20-25 mph on a residential street and i noticed my car was making a strange noise, the radio shut off then the car shut down completely. i call for roadside assistance and had my car towed to the dealership where i purchased it and after a week they finally diagnosed it being my alternator which had completely drained my battery, so both had to be replaced. my car only had 38000 miles and i was told that i just had went over my warranty mileage and had to pay out of pocket 1168.00 for alternator and battery. after doing research i found that some 2012 models had recalls for alternators but was told my car was not on the recall list.

Dodge has known issues and recalls for alternators being defective in their 2012 charger models but continues to make customers pay out of pocket to fix the issue. i purchased a 2012 dodge charger april 2012 cash. recently my alternator stopped working on the car. i took the car to the nearest dodge in my area to have test ran on the battery and alternator, the battery tested good but they would not test the alternator unless i paid a $100 fee which i could have done for free at the nearest parts dealer (autozone, o'riely's). i recently repaired my car out of pocket $300 with no assistance from dodge, but before doing so i saw there has been over 450,000 recalls for the same issue of alternators prematurly going bad. i called 8008531403 and 8009921997 and spent over 2 hours on the phone without a resolution, the first rep advised the recall is vin specific andnothing applies to my vin, i tried to explain to the rep that this has been a known isssue for dodge models made since 2010-2013 and my car was produced within that time frame. the rep advised me to take it in for a diagnostic and i could submit for a possible reimbursment if its determined its fault dodge. i advised i was not comfortable with doing so if i cant be garaunteed i will be reimbursed, i then asked for a supervisor. the supervisor pamela (id ph314) was rude from the start of the call call and told me its not her concern if my car gets repaired. i love my car and have been considering purchasing my fiance a 2015-2016 model but after how i was treated i am strongly changing my mind.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while attempting to accelerate the vehicle, it failed to accelerate. the contact also stated that the vehicle failed to shut off. the failure recurred multiple times intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

I was driving to work and my car collision sensors and alarm started going off randomly. shortly after, my car shut down while i was in motion and there was no electircal power and no power steering so it was difficult to get out of traffic. i could not get my car to restart and could not even get my hazard lights on. i had my car towed to the repair shop and they determined the alternator was the issue. they replaced the alternator and my car works perfect now. i am disappointed to learn that there was a recall on alternators for the v6 version only of my car. i have read that my car has the same alternator as the v6. luckily i was able to avoid an accident. i can't imagine what would have happened with my car suddenly shutting off on the freeway. why would my v8 car not have been recalled.

Low battery indicator turned on and a minute later the car just came to a stall and smoke and burning odor was coming from under the hood and the car would not start, could not lock the doors nor put the car in neutral to move it to the side of the road had to wait for about two hours for a tow truck to tow the car to my house.

Driving to work when all of a sudden the message of "battery saver mode" appeared on my message screen. after that happened, i noticed a whistling noise followed by the radio going out and air conditioning stopped blowing. then all of the sensors started going off in the dashboard; traction control, abs, check engine, and seatbelt. i tried to give my dodge charger 2012 sxt some gas so that i can get off the road, but that cuased the rpm's to rev up to over 7 and other gauges did the same thing at the same time. luckily i was able to coast into a gas station since that is where my charger completely stopped!! nothing would turn on and car wasn't moving!! after calling for a tow truck, i looked up these errors for 2012 dodge chargers and there a lot of them!! the estimate to replace the alternator and battery was over $800!!! who has that money just laying around for rainy days?!?!? dodge knows it has this problem as you can find the recalls for it, bit only if the vin# matches. otherwise you pay out of your own pocket. i am so infuriated right now!! i will never buy another chrysler vehicle again!! my 2012 charger only has 57,000 miles and the alternator goes!!! this is not right nor should it be accepted!!!

I was driving my 2012 dodge charger sxt (blacktop edition) approximately 45 mph on a highway when suddenly the car's electronic system starting going haywire. the abs light when on, then the red brake light, then the engine light and so forth. the electronics started flickering on and off. i headed for the nearest exit and just i was exiting the car's steering ability locked up and coaxed it to the middle meridian of the road when it then suddenly lost power, narrowly avoiding an accident in a busy ny intersection. the vehicle would not turn on and i called aaa. they tried to give the car a boost but it only powered the electric system and it would not start. once they took off the cables it had no power. the car had to be towed and is awaiting repairs.the car has never had any previous issues and i have maintained all regularly scheduled maintenance work with the dealer where i purchased the vehicle.

While driving home from work, in my 2012 dodge charger rt. the dash lights all started to flash and a message code "battery save mode" was given. just a few minutes later the car stalled out and the front wheels vibrated feeling like the wheels locked up. the car veered off the the right side of the road. i placed the car in park and attempted to restart the car which it started. all the dash warning lights remained illuminated. i placed the car in drive and slowly pulled back onto the road. the car drove normal the next 1/2 mile to my house, except for the warning lights and battery save mode message. the next day i took the car to the dealership where they found the alternator at fault.

No power to radio or air conditioner. possibly other electrical components did not work. this happened suddenly. took car to dealer and was told it was the total integrated power module. they were able to 'reset' it, but told me if it fails again, it would cost $1400. i got off cheap with this repair only costing $98. this is for a part your 6 year old could hold in his hand. fortunately power steering did not fail, which is possible. this evidently is a serious problem with dodge products. no reason this should fail with just 2000 miles on car.

The a/c and defroster became inoperable. a check of the fuse box panel underneath the hood of the vehicle revealed that the fuse that directly controls or is associated with the performance/operation of the a/c and defroster was melted resulting in a hole being burnt through the bottom of the box. the fuse was the original fuse for the vehicle. it appears that the entire fuse box needs replacing as a result of the damage caused by the burned fuse. additionally, the head lights of the vehicle look as if they are shattered internally. it appears that the bulbs, which are also original/factory get too hot and cause the plastic fixtures to appear cracked or shattered. *tr
