1.the wiring to the headlights keeps burning into and it has been replaced twice already. 2. the radio doesn't come on when i start the car; i have to shut it off and restart it sometimes several times to get everything connected. 3. i have had to have my car aligned 4 times in 9 months and bought 2 sets of tires because it will not keep the alignment. this has been going on for over a year and the radio and lights has been happening for much longer. what can you tell me about these problems?
Exact problem described in tsb 08-040-14 rev.a. please make a recall!!!!
Car won't start sometimes. the lights on the dash will be on when i get to my car but wont recognize my key. the lights will blink on and the wipers will come on then stall. i have to get a jump constantly. the battery is new so it isn't that. i had the car tested at auto zone and it read fine. i was advised to get the fuses checked. when i took it to a mechanic he said it was the alternator. the car is always is always in stationary when it does this. luckily i haven't had any problems while on the road yet. the radio stopped working also a few months before this problem. it would glitch on and off. the screen will still do this but the sound isn't working at all.
While in motion on a city street, vehicle displayed warning lights and stalled. was able to pull off into a parking lot where the gear shift was locked in park position. had vehicle towed to mechanic who advised that the timing chain had locked up. i am aware that there was a customer satisfaction notification sent out by chrysler, but when i inquired about it at my local dealership they said that my vehicle didn't fall under that notification.

Passenger hid light intermittently shuts off. after a period of the vehicle being shut down and restarted the light will come back o but will shut off again after a few minutes. there is an open recall on the wiring harness, but nothing is showing on my particular vehicle for the recall.
Takata recall one morning as i got into my car to head to work, i started hearing this clicking noise. it lasted for about 1 min., then it stopped. i thought nothing of it until it happened again, and again. i was not sure what it was seeing as i basically have had just about everything replaced in my vehicle due to all these recalls over the years. after researching, i noticed several people having this same issue. i know the dodge ram actually had a recall. found out it was the actuator. the amount of time the clicking noise last has gotten longer and it will randomly start even after my car is no longer running and just sitting idle. this is so annoying considering i know i haven't done anything to my car to cause this issue and i'm sure its a manufactory's issue that needs to be looked into. this noise is loud ,annoying and embarrassing, and i don't want to pay a ton of money to replace a $40 part, especially when the issue is happening to multiple vehicles.
Pdc and ac wiring melted together. wire harness is part of headlamp to dash harness. ac will go in and out on it's own. was told by dealership it requires replacement of pdc and headlamp to dash wiring harness. pdc and wired should not melt together causing exposed wires
I was leaving a mechanic shop after a tire change i entered the road n all of a sudden the battery light came on and the car just died on me i called the mechanic and he said it's the alternator he came and got it on his flat bed so i check to see if my car was on the recall list for the alternator and sure enough it was
My vehicle is giving a message that says 'battery saver mode.' the battery in the vehicle is in perfect condition, the alternator has been replaced and i am still getting this message. according to blogs many people have had this problem. i have been informed that the car is at risk of spontaneously cutting off while in battery saver mode. this is a safety issue that needs to be looked into. it may be a sensor issue idk and my local dodge is also unsure

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. the contact began experiencing failures with the vehicle after it received an unknown recall repair regarding the air bags from gary mathews motors (1100 new ashland city road, clarksville, tn 37040). shortly after the dealer provided the repair, the cruise control and radio intermittently activated and were not working properly. in addition, the service engine indicator illuminated. sisk chrysler dodge jeep ram (4599 fort campbell blvd, hopkinsville, ky 42240) and gary mathews motors were contacted, but the vehicle had not yet been diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin, failure mileage, and recall information were not available.
As i exited the freeway my vehicle began to shut down and lose power. i was able to sputter at 10 mph for about a quarter mile to a parking lot. the vehicles electronics were shutting down the whole time and weird electrical activation's started occurring or freezing on their own such as lights, senors, wipers, radio etc. i could also smell a burnt odor emitting from the air vents. when i parked the vehicle it did not start and had smoke coming from the engine. i checked the engine and saw some smoke coming from the alternator and smelled burnt. i took the vehicle to the dealer on 01-22-18 and they diagnosed it as the alternator failing due to the recall but there was no fix yet from chrysler. they stated the quick fix is replacing the alternator but the vehicle would have to come back until they discover what needs to be fixed on the recall. today is 01-24-18 and my vehicle is not repaired because the dealer is waiting approval from chrysler to install a new alternator since there is no exact fix for the recall yet. they told me it may be an electrical computer problem, wiring problem or alternator problem. they told me they may install a new alternator today (01-24-18) and they had to order it. i have been with no vehicle since 01-18-18 due to the dealer and chrysler not problem solving their mistake. i'm glad i didn't crash or was in the fast lane of the freeway when i lost power but my son was scared because he didn't know what was going on. i cant imagine the consequences if things had not gone the way they did. someone could seriously get injured at the expense of chrysler failing to find a fix. would this fall under the lemon law?
I was in a car accident 30 miles an hour hitting the front left of my vehicle. i hit a concrete barrier, and no airbag deployed resulting in my head slamming into the window and the steering wheel. as well as the battery no longer working and the temperature sensor several fuses were blown. it was 10 below and had light blowing snow and new tires. the resulting damage is in the range of 5000 to $6,000. i also missed 2 days of work due to the head injury which was a concussion. pictures attached only show some of the damage other damage included punctures to the radiator, sway bar and links snapped, impact bar shaved in word and puncturing the air filter and damaging the hood. *bf *bf *tr
My cars display keeps flashing off and on while driving and at a stop sign or signal light the dash flickers and automatically puts the car to park. the only time that's nothing happens is when the car is revved. this model has had issues before and that was based on the alternator issue which seem like to be the same problem again. please fix this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stopped operating without warning. all of the warning indicators illuminated in the vehicle when the failure occurred, and the vehicle shut off. the vehicle was towed to landers mclarty dodge chrysler jeep ram (533 university dr nw, huntsville, al 35806 (256) 830-6450) where it was diagnosed that the battery was dead due to alternator failure. there was an open recall for the alternator, nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system); however, the dealer confirmed that the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 35,000.
As i was driving down the road today, the red battery light came on and i could hear a whining noise. i drove to repair shop about 3 miles away to get the battery checked. i and the personel noticed black smoke coming from the hood of my car. it was on fire.i was notified that there was an alternator factory defect recall. this was 6 months ago when i contacted my dealer ship musson patout in new iberia, la. i call every two weeks to see if you have sent the part to fix my car and there are no parts. i had to replace the battery today because the burnt alternator damaged cells in the battery. th wrecker picked up my car and brought it to be repaired. at this time, i do not know how much damage was done to my car because of a manufacturer's defective part.the recall # is p60. my nerves are very bad now when i think how i or someone may have been hurt or died by this incident.

My vehicle's electrical system will not charge correctly and has lead to electrical systems shutting down while driving. i was driving in 90+ degree heat along a city street with the ac running full blast and the radio going, just minutes after having left my house, when suddenly the radio stopped working and would not turn back on. moments later, the ac system started blowing hot air and a red battery voltage light appeared in the evic with a *ding* noise. shortly thereafter all electrical systems ceased and the engine died, with the transmission grinding to a halt. the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where i had the electrical systems including the alternator inspected. the alternator passed inspection just slightly under the recommended 14 volts, so i opted not to replace it but did have to purchase a new battery. this was approximately one month ago. fast forward to today, and while driving home the radio turned itself off and a low battery voltage indicator appeared in the evic. after searching the web, i see there is a known flaw with chrysler alternators relating to recall notice "t3607112017" - found here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/rcmn-17v435-1556.pdf i'm quite a bit peeved - as i sit here unable to use my vehicle, chrysler seems to be dragging its feet with this particular recall, scheduled to be announced during the 4th quarter 2017. i'm afraid if i were to use my vehicle again, i would either become stranded once more, or worse - there have been reports of electrical fires originating in the alternator with this particular model vehicle. alas, i've searched for the invoice from the repair shop i used but have been unable to find it. perhaps i can call and see if they have a copy available in their records.
Recall t36 needs to be expanded to include the 3.6l engine with the 160a alternator, as my 2012 dodge charger with these components just had the exact failure described in this recall, but fca is saying that the recall doesn't include my vehicle. as of now, the 5.7l engine with the 160a alternator and the 3.6l engine with the 180a alternator are included, but not the 3.6l engine with the 160a alternator. the battery failure warning light came on in the morning on my way to work. i used the remote start when i was going to leave work and the car died after about two minutes, before i could even get in the car. white smoke came from under the hood and, upon closer inspection, was emanating from near the alternator on the passenger side of the car. there was also more heat than two minutes of idling would account for as well as the smell of hot plastic or something similar. there was no power to any part of the vehicle at all. i took the battery to autozone and they said it tested as a good battery. i had it towed to henry brown dodge in casa grande, arizona and they confirmed it was the alternator that failed.
While driving the car the radio shut off, all of the lights on the dash came on, there was a whining noise from under the hood and it smelled like burning rubber. the car was then parked and when the hood was opened the alternator was smoking and there was residue around the area where the belt is on the alternator. this happened 3 times in 12 hours, all driving on city streets
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 35 mph, the windshield wipers activated automatically, and the abs, brake, service traction, and check engine warning indicators illuminated. also, the engine stalled, the gear automatically shifted into park, and the vehicle stopped. the contact pushed the vehicle to the side of the road. the vehicle was taken to the nearby dealer (sun auto service located at 9530 w tropicana ave, las vegas, nv 89147) where it was diagnosed that the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted at 800-992-1997 and stated that nothing could be done since the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was not provided. the approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Parked car in garage and closed garage door. went back later and smelled a electrical smell. went thru everything in garage and could not find source. next morning wife went to start car and nothing. son checked under hood and knew our smell came from car. had car towed in to dealership to find problem. problem was alternator and battery. same problem as recall t36 but our car is not under this recall. same make, year and problem so why is our car any different? we could have had a fire in our new 3 week old garage/house. please include this like others are experiencing in this recall. now i am stuck with a $950 bill!
Vehicle electronics started to shut off while driving and would not accelerate car then turned off and shifted to park on its own in the middle of the street. car would not turn on with out a jump start when disconnected would not shift and would not idle right before shutting off
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 32 mph, the instrument panel warning indicators illuminated. the contact pulled the vehicle over and attempted to place it into the park position, but it failed and stalled. in addition, the passenger noticed an abnormal burning odor. the vehicle was not able to restart. the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. the dealer (ferrario chrysler-dodge-jeep, 2463 corning rd, elmira, ny, 14903) stated that they were unable to diagnose the vehicle until two weeks later. the contact was in the process of searching for another dodge dealer to diagnose the vehicle sooner. the contact researched online and found that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system); however, the vin was excluded. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 65,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 30 mph, the battery warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an advance auto store where it was diagnosed that the alternator was in the process of failing. while driving, the vehicle lost power and stalled. the vehicle was taken to berglund chrysler jeep dodge ram (2525 franklin rd sw, roanoke, va 24014, (540) 345-9881) where it was confirmed that the alternator failed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
Charger r/t. battery saver mode came on and shuts off the car while driving. not possible to restart. took it to dealer 2months ago for the same issue, but they said everything is ok. it happened again today while i was driving and almost got into an accident. i've found a lot of people online with the same issue. this is very dangerous especially because it happens while in motion.
A kind of noise was present in the engine and i took vehicle to the dealer back in august 2017. the partially fixed the issue, however, they said that a recall was available for it, however, no remediation yet available. in conclusion, they suggested me to wait for the remediation to be available b/c the alternator would have to be replaced. since august 2017 i've been waiting for dodge to release parts for this recall and the dealer told me it would not be later than november. don't know what to do now and i'm concern the vehicle may stop at any time due to a fire or electrical short-circuit.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 10 mph, the engine stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle lost complete power. the vehicle was towed to benchmark chrysler dodge jeep ram (1313 grants mill way, birmingham, al 35210 (205) 957-1313) where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that a recall was not available until november of 2017, and the contact would be reimbursed for the repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
I drove my car to work on monday and back home (approx 25 miles round trip) with just a message stating battery in saver mode, otherwise a normal drive home. about 3 hours later i was going to the store, i turned my car on and it immediately started making a loud humming noise. i started to leave the driveway, got about 50 feet down the street when i noticed smoke was coming out from under the hood (it had a strong electrical burning smell). the abs warning light and traction control warning light came on, the message with battery in saver mode appeared on the screen again, and the interior lights flickered. i got the car back in the driveway and left it there over night. the next day i started the car with the message, battery in saver mode being the only issue. i got to work, then called the dealership to have the car dropped off for them to diagnose. the dealership has diagnosed the problem as being an alternator failure. i researched recalls with similar malfunctions and p60 kept coming up. apparently my charger is not included in this recall even though the same issues occurred.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 55 mph, all the warning sensors illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was barely able to move off the highway. the vehicle was not able to restart. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (kayser chrysler center of watertown, 105 highway 16 frontage rd, watertown, wi, 53904) where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). because the vehicle had an 180 amp alternator instead of the 160 amp alternator included in the recall, the manufacturer stated that the recall repair would not be covered and did not offer any further assistance. the vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. the failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to gresham dodge (located at 855 ne. burnside road, gresham, or 97030, tel: (503) 666-2277) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vin was not included. the approximate failure mileage was 49,439.
I was driving my 2012 charger sxt, and the car suddenly went into battery saver mode. i had pulled over to google it on my phone, and my car was starting to display the symptoms in the p60 recall. the battery light came on, the traction control, abs, check engine lights, they all came on. then as i was pulling into a parking space at dodge the center screen shut off, i lost power steering, the car shut itself off. somehow the windshield wipers ran a few cycles. the dealership informed me that my car had a 180 amps alternator, that it was not part of the p60. my car had just reached 119000km (74000mi), and the average mileage of chargers with 180 amps alternators appears to be around 106000km (66000mi). the road that i was on, it followed the a winding cliff. if the problem had been more severe i would certainly have died, either gone into the rock face, off the cliff, or into oncoming traffic. the replacement alternator was over $800 cnd, that's before the inspection, before labor, and if the battery fried in this ordeal, it doesn't include that either. it doesn't cover the rental car i had to get. obviously, chrysler-dodge-fiat had to do a massive recall with one alternator, is it really a stretch to think that the other alternator that they installed in other vehicles were defective as well? i looked up the cost of a replacement online according to official dodge specifications for the chrysler 300 / charger - they're listed at about $200-250 cnd, why is the one dodge selling me over $800? is it because they realized they have to put in something of much higher quality and output so that this doesn't happen again? there had better be a recall about this - people will get severely hurt because of this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge charger. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning, while driving at approximately 35 mph. in addition, the speedometer failed to provide the accurate readings and all the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the contact coasted into a serviced station while the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. in addition, the vehicle failed to turn off and the gear shift failed to come out of drive. the contact used the park brake and the engine stalled. the vehicle was taken to haley chrysler dodge dealer, located on 5400 s laburnum ave, richmond va 23231, phone number: (804) 663-5337, where it was rejected to be serviced due to the remedy part needed for the repair not being available. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v240000 (power train) and 17v435000 (electrical system). the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure and informed the contact to have the vehicle repaired at his expense and did not offer further assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000. part distribution disconnect. vin tool confirms part not available.
My vehicle has the same issues regarding p60 / nhtsa 14v-634 recall. the alternator does not provide enough voltage to the vehicle and the entire system begins to fail. while driving on a street traveling around 30 mph i received no warning and my began to shut down. all of the lights began turning on and off, the wipers turned on, and then my car completely shut off. this caused me to nearly hit another vehicle and injure myself. this is a huge safety concern and someone could be hurt.
This is related to p60 recall. our car has the same alternator as the 3.6 cars in the recall. it had the very same problems: wife driving down the highway , the battery light came on there was a few chime sounds, then abs and tc lights came on, then all the dash warning lights came on. the wife knows enough about cars that she had to immediately pull over and shut the car off. then smoke came out from under the hood and a smell of electrical burning was evident. she had been on a highway doing 55 mph. the wife called me and i went down there. the forst thing that i noticed was there was not anything electric working on the car. and worst of all it was stuck in park and couldn't put it in neutral for towing. the tow truck guy tried to jump it but soon realized that everything was shorted out. he finally towed it to the dealership. i was able to see the burn marks and where the metal of the alternator had melted. upon doing research online i found about this same problem with other challengers. and also found the p60 safety recall. the recall listed the same exact symptoms that we had but didn't cover 5.7 engine cars. the alternator was burnt(pictures attached) exactly the same as the 3.6 engine cars. there were a lot of posts of the 5.7 having same issue that my car had. most of those were covered under the warranty. our car was out of warranty. it cost us $988.50 for a new alternator, battery and labor. since this same part was covered under p60 recall it looks like chrysler is being deceptive about the issue. please investigate and reply. pic of alternator below. regards, gregory
