Dash cracked from passenger air bag cover to windshield vent. one day there was no crack then i noticed the crack. nothing was dropped onto or banged against air bag cover.

Myself as well as many others dash's are cracking randomly in our chevrolet silverado pickups. mine is cracked just to the upper left of the passenger airbag. i have reached out to gm and they have acknowledged an issue have offered to pay $590 towards the repair. i am not satisfied with that and there are several other thousand people that have the same issue with the same results or worse. i would really like to see gm be held accountable for this as i believe this is an safety concern with the passenger airbag deploying in an emergency. there is a facebook page with several thousand members dedicated to this matter it is named "07-13 gm cracked dash safety hazard for all trucks"

My 2011 silverado dash is cracking in several place and im only the second owner of the truck. i feel sharp piece of plastic could become hazarders during a crash.

The dashboard has cracked in 2 separate places due to cheap supplies. one of the cracks is near the airbag so if the airbag were to deploy parts of the broken dashboard would be thrown into the passenger and cause injury.

Takata recall: i have had the service air bag message going on /off since 8/27/2015 @34,147 miles, general motors case #83119740858 states that there is (no issues) with the air bags, they have continued to state i would have to pay $200.00 to to check fault code and pay for the replacement of the air bag. i gave provided there recall # 2049151 they continue to state that is is not a safety issue, our family also have a 2013 denali, and a 2016 cad. escalade. g.m. dealer {kuni) chevrolet general and service managers have not returned my phone calls

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). my air bag light has continued to flash on and off "service air bag" since august 2015 @ 34,147 miles. vehicle was purchased and serviced previously by kuni chevrolet sacramento ca. they state there is no record of my vehicle, but they continue to send me mailer request service other than the outstanding recall# [xxx]: also filed a complaint with general motors case #[xxx] where as [xxx] has stated general motors has no known issues with air bags. i have contacted kuni chevrolet several times requested a phone call from both service manger and general manage which continues to be ignored. i understand that this should have been resolved in a reasonable link of time. it has been going on for years and they are not taking responsibility . my question to you is what are my options? thank you [xxx]12/04/2017 *dl

Cracking plastic dash on upper left corner of passenger side air bag. seems thousands of other people have same issue.

I was driving down a city road going about 40 mph when the side curtain airbag deployed in my truck. i did not hit or collide with another vehicle or property, and no vehicle collided with me.

The dash is cracking around the passenger airbag and the above the drivers side speedometer. this poses a danger to all occupants if a crash were to happen and the passenger airbag were to go off. this would send shards of broken plastic dashboard everywhere. unsafe to say the least.

On both the passenger and drivers side, the dashboard is cracked. on the passenger side the crack is located near the airbag and in the middle on the drivers side near the hump.

Every time we contact a dealer to get our airbags changed out we are told they don't have any to change out so nothing has been done to rectify the defect airbags in my truck.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet silverado. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. loan star chevrolet (18900 northwest fwy, jersey village, tx 77065 (281) 653-6119) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and were not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dash is cracking by the passenger airbag cover and i wory that it may become shrapnel if the airbag deploys.

Takata recall, gm has no fix for this. they sent out recall and are playing the numbers hoping not to have to fix this. been over 2 years now. takata also sent bankruptcy notice to me.

Takata recall g.m. #2049151 nhtsa #16v381 air bag light coming on and off at will. passenger side of dash lifting reported to kuni chevrolet in march 2015 in march of 2015, was told they would have to schedule appointment and would be in touch they never called. then in august 2015 i came in they provided a tag for the mirror with the miles written on it. then i was told that it wouild not be covered under warranty and was asked to leave.since then i have returned to dealership was told it was the issue of the manufacture not g.m. then again i made an appointment they told me i was not on file and they did not sell the vehicle to me, so then i brought proof that in fact i had purchased vehicle and had previously had be in for service. they then told me in order to resolve the air bag issue they would be happy to sell me a new vehicle. { if the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner } please contact the nhtsa safety hot line \,i believe that from march of 2015 until september 2019 is more than enough time. i cannot even sell this vehicle in this condition the current milage 56,589

Tl* the contact owned a 2011 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at 45 mph, a vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy and the air bags deployed message was displayed. the contact sustained back and spine injuries and whiplash that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,000. the vin was unavailable.

Takata recall: the trade in value on my meticulously maintained 2011 chevrolet silverado was drastically reduced. it cost me nearly $5000 in actual value, as a dealer cannot resell a traded in vehicle with an active recall and must send it to be auctioned. so i have suffered both severe emotional distress from constantly being in fear the airbag is going to randomly blow my nuts off, and crippling undue monetary hardship because of the failure of takata or gm to resolve this recall. whicht has been active for 5 [xxx] years i might add. my vehicle was stationary because of my anxiety to risk death by airbag decapitation!! parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata inflators: i received a recall notice 2 years ago and gm is still saying they don't have a solution yet. my question is does someone have to be injured or killed before gm will replace the defective inflators. if the air bag inflators installed are known to be defective, the manufacturer should be required to replace them.

2011 chevy silverado lt with a cracked dash on the drivers side and by the airbag. always have a sun screen over dash during the day and in the garage when at home.

Dash is cracking around air bag.

Takata recall gmc hilltop. continues to inform me there is no resolution for replacing the airbag

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 27,814.

Service air bag. *tr

I was driving and was pulling into a parking spot and the vehicle accelerated instead of slowing down and coming to a stop causing it to collide with the brick building i do not what the truck speeded up to but both of the airbags went off and i missed a little 5 year old girl by about 2 inches. *tr

I had closed one of my doors on the driver side with pretty strong force (slam), and the side curtain airbags deployed on both the driver and passenger sides. the seatbelt pre-tensioners also locked up. the airbag nearly missed striking my passenger who was seated in the passenger seat when it occurred. *tr

Takata recall, the warning seat belt light comes on when stationary and while driving on street highway and resets, i am afraid this will activate. i informed dealership but was informed there wasn't a recall for my vehicle and possibly electrical problems with air bag actuator.

Takata recall - i have called 5 to 10 times now to local dealers and they keep telling me that they don't have a replacement and they do not know when one will be available.

I bought my 2011 silverado 1500 with 8,000 miles on it from the dealership oct 2012. while under a bumper to bumper warranty my dash busted at the air bag. i reported this to the dealer the truck had around 16,000 - 18,000 miles on it. i was told the dash was made that way so no claim was made. since then my dash has only gotten worse and worse. now that its no longer under the bumper to bumper warranty they admit it needs to be replaced at my cost! i'm am so fed up with gm's product. i have spent the past 4 years trying to get my dash replaced at their cost. its clearly nothing i did wrong to cause it. i have found hundreds on complaints about the same problem.. there have been several lawsuits that's been taking out on them for this issue. "if i get in a wreck the passenger air bag will send sharp plastic into my passengers face.. my farther has a 2010 silverado 1500 with 50,000 miles on it and his is also busted the same way at the air bag. this is a huge know quality / safety issue that needs to be immediately recalled at gm's cost. i paid $28,000 for my new truck and less then a year its falling apart..

Takata airbag, still no resolution for this by gm. the dash on the pick up also have the same cracks that thousands of owners have experienced around the passenger side airbag and across the driver side as well. i have repaired it multiple times for it only to crack in new places. it began cracking with only 30,000 miles on it.

Takata recall chev has not dealt with the remedy on replacing air bags. ford had a settlement and other dealers have dealt with the replacements. i want chev to fix my vehicle now. its been three years of waiting!

Takata recall. airbags are defective and could cause death or serious injury if deployed. gm has not issued a remedy for this defect and dealer will not replace until further guidance is received from gm.

Takata recall. i have called the dealership that i bought this from new in 2011 and they basically told me that general motors would rather lawyer-up than to have to replace airbags. i personally am pointing the finger at nhtsa and holding them accountable for any injuries or deaths as a result from a faulty airbag due to fact that they will not enforce gm to replace them. what good is nhtsa if gm can bully them and refuse to comply. as i have said, i personally am holding nhtsa accountable for and injuries or deaths associated with this recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet silverado k1500. the contact stated that he was involved in a crash in which the set belts did not restrain him and the air bags did not deploy. as a result, the contact was thrown into the steering wheel and sustained injuries to the knee, neck and head. the dealer was sending someone to inspect the vehicle. the vehicle was awaiting diagnosis and repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the current and failure mileages were 4,900.

Takata recall"

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet silverado. the contact stated that the check air bag light illuminated and the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed independently. the contact was not involved in a crash. the dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that they could not do anything until the manufacturer inspected the vehicle. the contact stated that the front driver side and passenger side seat belts had been stuck in the lock position since the air bags deployed and were non-operational. the failure mileage and current mileage was 6,700.

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that while driving at low speeds and making a right turn, the vehicle would not slow after he tried to decelerate. he then crashed into a tree and the air bags did not deploy. the contact was not injured in the crash. a police report was filed. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 400.

This air bag recall still has not been resolved after greater than three years. why are we still allowing cars with takata air bags to be sold in this country whe they have not resolved issues with thousands of cars already on the road? are you waiting on a certain number of citizens to be injured before taking any further action?

Takata recall: i received a recall notice years ago, recall #49151. i've called the local dealer enough times that they know me and know why i'm calling and have been very nice. the dealer says that he needs part # 2049151 to fix the problem but he says the part is not available. please help. thanks
