We have classified the 239 complaints from 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
Very upsetting that gm had to have known takata air bags are installed and we were never informed. i would have never known my vehicle wasn't safe, if i wasn't on this site researching safe car for my teen to drive. i would like to know exactly when our life's are important enough to have recall letters sent? should we all go out and purchase face shield helmets for the family while we wait?????? i also read complaints regarding cracking in dash panel. i too have hairline cracking driver's side where airbag is installed. please send recall letters as i called my local dealer and was told nothing can be done till i receive the actual letter. this new bulletin was posted months ago. it's now august 2016.

Takata recall: i received a gm recall notice (#49151) in july 2016 for a defective takata passenger airbag which could accidentally inflate. although gm states in the notice that the vehicle is safe to drive, it also states--in the same letter--that such an accidental inflation could result in "serious or fatal injuries". (they call this safe!!?) two visits to my local chevrolet dealership have resulted in no action. i now understand that takata has filed for bankruptcy.

Takata recall , i received a notice that my truck was recalled because of air bag defective air bags over a year ago. when will they be replaced?
Takata recall nhtsa recall number-16v381 i'm merely concerned that's its been 3 years since i received the takata recall letter, and that gm's response has been, "recall incomplete. remedy not yet available." from what i've gathered from the recall, vehicles in hot, humid climates are more at risk. this also concerns me, becuase i purchased the truck in 2011 while living in hawaii. i lived there for two years, moved back to texas for a year, then moved back to hawaii for another two years, and then back to texas, shipping my truck back and forth through those moves. hawaii is extremely humid, and more oven than not, hot. and texas is extremely hot and can get humid. i'm worried that my truck might be more at risk.
It has been 2 years since my recall and no fix is available. why?
