When the car is parked, i unlock the driver's door, the tailgate opens on it's own (possibly into traffic) then afterwards, every time when starting the car, a "12v battery charging fault stop safely" error occurs twice. it seems to be ok to drive, but it is not clear as to whether the fault can cause a safety issue, as the message implies. so many of the systems in the car are electric. this is a reoccurring problem that has happened 4 times now, and volvo has not been able to fix it.
2008 volvo xc90 v8 has been towed 3x in the past month. the battery has completely and inconsistently drained. they checked relay switches, fuses, alternator, starter, battery connections, etc. 3x in the shop! so fed up. car is now in shop and i've read that volvo is in a class action lawsuit for battery drain from sirius radio even if you do not have the subscription. they are charging me $135 to diagnose at volvo right now. it hasn't been diagnosed as that is the problem yet, but the service manager is inclined to think that's what it is. clearly they are aware of the problem. also got stuck completely in drivers side seat belt and then it wouldn't work at all. having door opening problems on driver side door and i'm just super frustrated. this has affected my business and seeing customers, etc.
On or about february 06, 2019, our 2007 volvo xc-90 experienced a steering lock failure. that is the lock could not advance to the start position and consequently locked the key in the ignition switch. the lock would not advance. consequently performed the following: a) consulted volvo owner's manual. the manual was silent on this. since the vehicle was parked nose first in our garage, again consulted the volvo owner's manual to find out how to manually get the volvo out of park. volvo's manual was silent on this. b)contacted north town volvo dealer for advice. response was to get the vehicle in by towing. no advice as to how to disengage the volvo's park feature. c)contacted volvo's on line chat service and received the same response. no help! get the car towed in! d)contacted in collision and auto repair. they suggested a 2006 you tube video showing how to disengage the park function. this worked and the volvo 2007 xc-90 was towed to in collision and auto repair. it took three weeks to repair the lock for the ...
I purchased my new 2019 volvo xc90 on december 15, 2018. on the morning of december 29, 2018 i was with my two children when there was a malfunction with the vehicle key recognition system which allows for the vehicle to start. my vehicle gave me the error 'vehicle key not found. see owner's manual'. this left myself, my 4 year old and my 4 month old stranded. the local fort myers dealer said they replaced the fob antenna. my vehicle then had the same problem february 14, 2019 leaving myself and my two children stranded because the vehicle wouldn't start. volvo claimed to fix the issue but the vehicle again malfunctioned while in the possession of mcgrath volvo of fort myers. again on february 23, 2019 my vehicle wouldn't recognize my keys and wouldn't start, yet again leaving myself and my two children stranded. after volvo told me they fixed what they thought was a defective wire, i received my vehicle back. on march 6, 2019 i was driving with my then 6 month old baby when my vehicle shut off twice. as i was decelerating, my vehicle engine shut off by itself and all screens in the vehicle ...
I purchased my 2018 volvo xc90 t6 awd (hereinafter, the '2018 xc90' or 'the vehicle') in october 2017, through lease agreement. shortly thereafter, i noticed that the fuel efficiency of the vehicle was well below the epa rating and warranted range, based on representations by the dealer at, and prior to, the time of sale. i took the vehicle to the dealer's service department, so the issue could be investigated further. the dealer reported there was a software update that addressed the problem, and that it would no longer be an issue. subsequently, the issue continued to re-appear and the fuel efficiently continued to suffer. i again, on numerous occasions (between 5 or 6) between december 2017 and november 2018, took the vehicle to the dealer's service department. in each occurrence, except the final one prior to this complaint being filed, it was again reported that no issue existed or had been remedied with a software fix. furthermore, in (or around) july of this year, the compressor (or another component controlling the hvac system in the 2018 xc90) failed, whilst driving to houston, texas. the heat inside the vehicle quickly raised. this part was replaced in ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 volvo xc90. ever since the vehicle was purchased in november of 2018, there had been several electrical failures. the headlights, power door locks, and power rearview mirror failed to operate. also, the transmission caused the vehicle to jerk and stall while driving. the contact took the vehicle to an unknown volvo dealer, but they refused to provide diagnostic testing and stated that there was no recall or warranty coverage on the vehicle. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 14,042.
Tl* the contact owned a 2017 volvo xc90. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off and caused the steering wheel to seize and the electronic gauges to shut off. the driver lost control of the steering and crashed into a pond. the front end was severely damaged and the vehicle was deemed destroyed, but the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer and local dealer (weaver brothers volvo, 4409 capital blvd, raleigh, nc) were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 10,000.
While driving with two young children in car, volvo hood started to smoke. no warning lights or signals went off. we pulled over, turned engine off, removed kids from the car, and within a few minutes, the entire hood of the car was in flames. the car was completely destroyed, even though firefighters extinguished the fire. we have no information as to the cause of the fire - engine, electrical, etc - but the car only had 18,000 miles on it. volvo had already replaced the rotors twice in two years - highly unusual - but otherwise we had no reason to suspect a problem. we were very lucky we were on city streets and not on the highway where it would have been difficult to impossible to pull over.
