The door locks at 15 to 20 miles an hour lock and unlock themselves...the radio which according to the vw dealership has to be replace because if i replace with an after market they will not be able to run a diagnostic test on it....they claim the radio has to be vw

Takata recall im having issues with the lights on dash when i press on break the oil lamp comes on. then the traction control and abs lights come on. the front right headlight works half the time and the same with breaks the lights come on when the want to. these are the only issues im having so far except the ac dont work and always goes out!
While parked the ignition key failed to turn " as if steering wheel lock was welded solid". i could not turn the key at all. car could not be started after repeated attempts, and had to be towed to a repair available.as a result i had to call a neighbor to take my wife to the hospital. parts have been ordered, but the mechanic has not received a delivery confirmation date. steering wheel is completely immovable.
I have bought an older 2011 vw for the first time in canada from a used car dealer lot in bolton, on. little did i know about vw's, as the car was barely driven. now in my car garage and i moved to the us. i have received several letters stating that there is a relay switch problem and there is no fix available for this car. in lay man's terms, the car keys can be taken out without the car being in "parking" position. 1800 number was given to me and i am given a runaround. the number in the letter states call this number, and they give me a runaround saying call vw canada, there is no mention to call that number. i want the dealer to take the car back and give me a book value of the vehicle. no recourse to this issue so far. as they are dodging to resolve issue with customers for relay switch problem, yet i continue to get their letters informating the car has become "non-compiant as per north american standards. when i bought the car, the car had an alarm going off without the car key in ignition. dealer advised to take the battery out. it could be the relay switch problem. someone has to be responsible for making these faulty cars? compliance recall 37 m2.
Having issues with ignition switch. i parked vehicle in front of store location and when i returned to my vehicle the key would not turn. i researched online and spoke to a mechanic to move the steering wheel left and right to see if the switch had just locked but after more than an hour of this it still would not turn. mechanic went to try to work on it and was also unable to do so and referred me to an import mechanic as he had recently replaced another volkswagen with the same issue. currently vehicle is now having to be towed to mechanic as key cannot be turned. this seems to be a recurring issue with volkswagen vehicles.
Driving my car i would come to a stop and my car would shut off. my battery light would then appear. had battery and alternator checked 4x was told that they are in perfect condition. battery comes on but radio still on. i was told that it had to be a wiring problem. so i took it to my volkswagen dealership and they keep telling me they can't diagnose a problem. i don't feel comfortable and safe driving the car on city streets and sometimes on the interstate. i just need my car fixed it has caused me so much stressed i am now on high blood pressure medication.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. after inserting the key in the ignition, the ignition switch would not turn and the vehicle could not be started. baxter volkswagen (7108 s 124th cir, lavista, ne) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 150,000.
I was returning home. stopped at a local store and when i returned to the car and started it i had a lot of lights on the dash flashing. i tried to back away from the parking spot and when i put the car in reverse the engine would die. i checked the brake fluid level and it was on the low mark. i managed to make it to a local parts store, the speedometer quit working. i obtained some dot 4 brake fluid. just after i filled the brake fluid to the full mark the lights on the dash went out and all seemed fine. several days later the lights came back indicating the braking antilock system had quit working (the same lights as before) i took it to a vw dealer and spent $453. to find out it had a "lot of codes" at that point i decided to take the car home and park it. when i started the car at the dealership i had no lights the car preformed flawlessly the rest of the day.
My radio stopped working. my warranty just ran out and then my radio goes. i do not think this is a coincidence. after reading many articles online i see that this is known issue. in today's world "known issue" means that we know it's a problem, but we are not going to do anything to fix it. vw should be responsible for this fix. the vehicle was running and the radio, out of the blue stopped working.
While in car was driving for approximately 10 min at least and noticed car was smoking. pulled into my driveway and popped the hood to check why it was smoking and noticed vehicle was under fire. car was parked prior for about 2 hours.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while driving 45 mph, the air bag off warning indicator illuminated. after two months, the radio and windshield wipers failed to function. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated there was an electrical shortage. the vehicle was not repaired. a dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 52,000.
The diagnostics mechanism for late model volkswagen is via the radio, this is the only way the dealer or mechanic can diagnose any issues with these vehicles is via the radio. i was told by the dealer that i could not buy a 3rd party radio, because they can't run diagnostics on the vehicle. this is a huge safety risk if a dealer or mechanic can't look at the diagnostics on the vehicle. my only option is to buy a radio from volkswagen so they can run safety diagnostics. we need an immediate recall on all affected volkswagen with this radio issue. again, this is a huge safety risk!!! the dealer is selling radios on the floor to fix this issue - see attached picture. i was told by the manager of the vw auto shop that all diagnostics computer information about the car is done via the radio - without this information it is a huge safety and cars are out on the road with potentially big problems that could cause a huge safety risk to drivers. please investigate vw that they maybe trying to cover-up. thank you here is a link many other folks with the same issue: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t41202_ds648928
Always had electrical issues, always changing fuse for horn, horn "never" works! issues with ignition, difficult to turn off, not cannot turn on at all, key won't turn enough, contact volkswagen, advised out of warranty, no recall for issues i am having, vw does not stand behind their product-very expensive to fix, vw will do nothing, told me not a common issue (all they have to do is read through the complaints on here and find lots of people w/same issue(s) would not recommend vw to anyone!
My volkswagen jetta 2011 seems to have misfire. it has a check engine light on. the car shakes when slow down and/or at stops. vw certified mechanic tried changing the plugs, and cleaning the valves but nothing helped. he also tied shaft crank sensor that did not help either. finally the diagnosis report indicated that it's timing chain issue that need to be replaced.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 11v196000 (electrical system). there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 76,223.
Ignition key will not turn engine off, cannot remove without 10 minutes of jiggling. second occurrence, second repair. my vehicle has 49,800 miles. ignition module and associated parts were replaced in 2015 due to failure and now in september 2018 due to failure. key also broke due to repeated attempts to remove.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the ignition cylinder seized and the vehicle was unable to start. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. stone mountain volkswagen (3500 stone mountain hwy, snellville, ga 30078, (678) 367-4286) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
My horn and front right parking light both stopped working at the same time. i noticed there is a recall for the same make/model/year as my car, but my vin is not included. i will need to have this repaired and pay for it, however, i do hope vw and nhtsa sees this is a problem and expand the recall to include more models.
Besides the problem i have reported about the car sputtering loosing power and even stalling once its on 1/4 tank. now i am having problems with the alternator charging the battery. i replace the mutli fuse, and the alternator. its still not charging. i had the old alternator tested and it works. after doing some research trying to figure out what else it could be, many other people are experiencing the same issues. electrical problems are very dangerous and would like to get this resolved.
Multiple lights not working, including turn signal and brake, while driving on a city street. determined that 30 amp fuse #f16 had failed and there appeared to be heat damage to the fuse box at the location of this fuse.
Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine.
Takata recall. when starting the vehicle after seating for more than an hour, it takes an excess amount of cranking before the engine fires. 10 plus seconds. one its running it usually drives without issues until you get to 5/16-1/4 tank. while driving down the highway it starts to loose power. the car feels like it is going to shut off. it looses power, gains and loose power causing it to sputter and loose control. after a few moments it is back to normal. then proceeds to happen sporadically usually every couple miles until it gets fill it up. this happens on city roads and highway. i fill the tank up and i only get on average 10 gallons into the tank, so i know its not out of gas. i have had the fuel pump test numerous times by different mechanics. all of them said its not loosing pressure, and it primes when the drivers door opens like it should. after reading online i have noticed many jetta owners are having the same problems and can not seem to get it fixed. this is very concerning cause it can cut power at any moment and is very dangerous. this has been happen since i bought the car about a month ago and continues to happen if it falls below the 5/16 a tank. this is a problem that has effected many jetta owners and prevents a risk to them and other cars on the road. this is a manufacturing problem and needs to be corrected. thank you.
Defective light switch that controls the headlights, daytime running light low beams and high beams. daytime running light no longer work, low beams are so dim they are no longer effective.
When shifting gears from park to any other gear after turning the car on,, the lights projecting which gear the car is currently in do not light up, and a wrench appears on the dashboard, but the indicator on the dashboard is also gone
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while driving 65 mph, the contact noticed that the horn would not function. the contact pulled over to a fuel station, turned off the vehicle, restarted it, but the horn was still not functioning properly. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the vin. the failure mileage was 95,600.
Nhtsa campaign #11v196000 my fuses blow, my driver window rolls down, but intermittently won't roll up. my engine cuts out for no reason, while in motion and stopped. happens when slowing down, exiting off the freeway and coming to a stop in town. my epc, check engine , and light sensors come on and off and different times. 3 years ago i had my abs module replaced. but continue to have the same issues. looking online i found the recall above, but when i took it to the dealer i was told this isn't an open recall. this has been going on since 2014
For about a week it has been getting harder to turn on and off my car, due to the key not wanting to turn in the ignition. today, i went to park in a shopping area and i couldn't turn the key at all to shut the engine off. i called the dealership and left them a message and told them i'm on my way right now to bring my car in because i cannot shut my car off. my car has 83,000 miles on it and i do have an extended warranty. the service guy behind the counter said they can't even look at it for a week and a half and if anything is wrong with it it should be covered under the warranty. obviously, something is wrong with it, the car run was still running in the parking lot and the key feels so loose in the ignition, it feels like it should be able to just fall out. he also mentioned that the part that i might need, if anything is wrong with it, with have to ship from germany which would add another week. i might see my car in 3 weeks. my daughter is taking this car with her back to college in about 3 weeks and i'm not feeling to great about her safety right now with this car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while attempting to start the vehicle, the ignition switch would not turn and the driver was unable to start the engine. after wiggling the key inside the ignition switch, the key would turn and the engine was started. the vehicle was taken to mike haggerty volkswagen in oaklawn, ca where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 55,000.
The key gets stuck in the ignition when attempting to turn off the engine; thus preventing the engine from being able to be turned off. i was lucky enough to be close to an auto repair shop, and they had to pull off a relay from the engine compartment. upon replacing the relay, i was able to start the car so that i could drive home. once i got home and once again attempted to shut the engine off, the key once again would not turn. the mechanic at the shop said that this is a known issue with my model car but that volkswagen refuses to acknowledge the problem. upon doing a google search to see what i can do to shut the vehicle off, i found a few hundred pages describing the issue, so i'm sure this is frequently happening. apparently, the only solution is to have the failed parts replaced which costs upwards of $600. also, the key has been getting stuck on and off for the past year, but in each case, i was able to wiggle the key so that it would turn off. today, i wasn't able to even turn the key to the off position from the on position.
Once the car is started and engine is running, it has been difficult to turn the key off and stop the engine. on saturday it was impossible to turn the key to the off position and remove the key when we wished to park the vehicle. we had to stall the engine to make it stop running. there are multiple reports of this online in various vw forums for multiple model years. we were only able to get the key out by using one of the tricks we found online.
Horn does not properly operate. only works on occasion. this a huge safety issue that vw does not feal they are responsible for.
Purchased 2011 vw jetta car recently for my daughter. it drove ok for a short while but then lost power while driving. first the radio turned off, then several lights turned on on the dash and the steering became hard. finally the car turned off. i managed to pull off the freeway. after this, it would not start. we tested the battery but it was not the problem. replaced the alternator but that also did not work. now i am reading about many other complaints on this same model by other owners. i respectfully request that this be investigated as a recall since there are too many complaints about electrical problems that should not be ignored. here is the website: https://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/jetta/2011/electrical/electrical_system.shtml
Takata recall. key wont turn in ignition on or off in car was in park
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while the vehicle was parked on an incline, it rolled backwards. the contact stopped the vehicle with the emergency brake. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact also stated that the key fell out of the ignition when the vehicle was not in park or turned off. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v615000 (electrical system, steering). the contact called bozzani volkswagen at 626-967-6325 (located at 528 s citrus ave, covina, ca 91723) and was confirmed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the vehicle was not repaired. additionally, in 2017, while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact's vehicle rear ended another vehicle that stopped abruptly. the air bags did not deploy. there was no warning indicator illuminated. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a concussion and struck her chest on the steering wheel. the contact also sustained neck and back injuries. medical attention was received. the vehicle was damaged, but not totaled. the vehicle was towed to a tow yard. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the contact was provided a case number. the cause of the failure was not determined. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.
My vehicle is keyless entry and most of the time the back passenger side door is faulty and does not unlock. the mechanism that unlocks the door only unlocks if the car is parked on a hill. this is a safety issue because the car automatically locks all doors when driving and if i were in an accident, i could not open the back passenger door from the outside. i have an infant daughter and i always have to load her in the car from the back drivers side, also a safety hazard. i see many other volkswagen owners complain about this same issue in online forums. i've asked the vw dealership to fix the problem, but they don't acknowledge it is a faulty part that was installed in manufacturing. the car has had this problem since i purchased it used in 2013. the car is no longer under warranty.
Vehicle stationary, ignition locked/cylinder lock malfunction while car on, not able to turn car off. wheel locked while car on. this occurred twice before.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while driving, the horn was depressed but failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the horn alarm failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v196000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 48,000. updated 04/28/17 *lj updated 10/11/2017*js
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. while driving in the rain at approximately 30 mph, the windshield wipers and horn failed. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v196000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa without filing a case number. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
My vehicle will cut off at random times while driving and steering locks up, also my alarm will make the sound to disarm the vehicle when driving i have to pull over shut down car and disarm it and start again. while at a stop light the vehicles rpm will raise and go down raise and go down until car just shuts off. i was pulling into my parking stall and car shut off and locked up i had to hit the brake and re start the car to pull in safely or it would have ran into the carport. on this date the car shut itself off in motion 2 times and it cut off with brake on at a light 3 times
I got into my car after filling the fuel tank and the the car started fine, but the radio is suddenly gone blank. radio does not work. the vehicle was stationary. the radio was working just fine prior to my stop for fuel.
The radio is completely dead. i have checked all applicable fuses, none of them are blown.
My boyfriend and i drove to get dinner. on the way there my radio was fine we were singing and laughing. we get to the restaurant and i turn my car off and there were these little buzzing sounds, didn't think anything of it. it was a hot day cars make sounds. after diner getting in the car and getting ready to start driving i realize i can't play music! i always use the aux cord. at first i thought it was my phone then i looked up and seen that my touch screen was black.... then i just thought it was turned off so i tired pushing the power button... nothing. so on the way home my boyfriend looked up the fuses got the chart, and we pulled it out and it was perfect no nothing. then i immediately got on the internet and started reading. no only did i find that similar models and previous years have had the same problem, but in a few months it leads to dead batteries, and the possibly that's your car is not reliable and it should be with an easy fix. i also found that the type of radio is very hard to find, i couldn't find it in vw parts and replacements, but instead finding earlier, and more update versions!
