Complaint - electronic stability control, steering, vehicle speed control while driving my 2002 toyota sequoia while turning on city street & highway i encountered two significant safety issues the traction control system comes on while driving at various speeds, the vsc and traction warning lights abs & engine lights are illuminated as the vehicle pulled to the left/right. when the issue occurred, the vehicle makes a grinding sound and pulls very hard to the left/right. the vehicle loses acceleration and feels like the anti-lock braking mechanism is being engaged. the jerking pull resulted in crossing multiple lanes of the highway before control of the vehicle was regained. this is going to cause deaths known issues with other sequoias. *tr

The vehicle was being driven on a dry paved road. the vsc and traction warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle pulled hard to the right, nearly causing an accident. the steering wheel becomes difficult to steer, the vehicle loses power, and the brakes inadvertently engage, making a terrible grinding noise. the problem happens at least once, each time the vehicle is restarted. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v176000 (traction control system) for the 2003 toyota sequoia - this failure is most likely related. *tr

While driving at a speed of 35, my truck suddenly pulled to the right, started to shake and a beeping alarm came on, the picture of the vechicle skidding also lit up and the trac off and vsc trac also lit up and stayed on. upon pulling over and cutting the truck off and restarting the vechicle, the lights where no longer lit. this has happened several more times. i have taken it to a mechanic and they have placed a machine on it to see if it registars anything, and nothing shows up. this really scared me and daughters track team mates, because we where not expecting this. this is the only vechicle i have at this time to drive, do to my husband being deployed. toyota says that they have no recalls, but there are several complaints on the internet of this problem. *tr

While driving downhill and around a curve at about 25mph, my 2002 sequoia began beeping, making a loud grinding noise and the traction light came on. i had little to no control of the vehicle. problem lasted a few seconds. fortunately, i was in a neighborhood with wide streets less than a mile from my home and was able to get home safely. considering that i was on a curve and it was raining, i thought it may be a one time issue with traction control. i drove the truck for a few days with no issues. yesterday, my wife was rounding a curve at about 50mph on a highway in heavy traffic on dry pavement and the truck did the same thing. she narrowly avoided a collision and was able to pull to the shoulder. since then, the truck will intermittently beep and grind for a couple of seconds before the vsc off light comes on. as long as the light is on, indicating the vsc is disengaged, there are no problems. problem seems to occur more when rounding a curve and braking, but that is not always the case. ...

I have a 2002 toyota sequoia & have had about 10 instances since the beginning of august 2014 where the trac off, trac vsc, and slip indicator lights all come on while the truck feels like it locks up and a beeping noise occurs all while driving. today august 21, 2014 while making a u-turn my truck failed to accelerate for a few seconds (i really had to push hard on the gas to get it to go). i have found several instances of the same or similar situations on various sites. apparently toyota recalled the 2003 models for the electronic stability control but did not include the 2002's although there are several complaints on multiple other years including the 2002. it would be horrible if someone is injured or killed before toyota takes this seriously. *tr

Traction control /vsc comes on all the time. *tr

A week prior my vsc trac and vsc off lights came on but nothing else occurred. now out of nowhere my vehicle will make an audible sound and start rumbling and pulling to the right and slowing but won't allow me to brake. this can last anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. sometimes the picture of the car with the skid marks will light up (even on dry roads) other times the abs light will come on. once the beeping and vibrations stop, the vsc trac and vsc off lights remain on until i turn the car off. i drive 30 miles each way to work daily. this is very dangerous and scary as i have no idea what triggers the episodes. *tr

I am having problem with my sequoia vsc trac sensor lights turning on and off and hearing grinding noise when it auto-engage and disengage. *tr

I was driving on the freeway on a dry day, traveling at 65 mph and noticed the trac control, abs, and brake lights all illuminate. i thought this was interesting. as i drove at steady 65mph i noticed the vehicle become unstable, i could feel the rear end being very wish-washy, to the point i had to slow the vehicle down to about 55 mph so that it would feel more stable. i drive this same stretch of freeway often and have never had the truck act like this until the lights became illuminated. i took the truck to my mechanic, they performed some diagnostic testing and did some investigating and found nothing wrong, no tripped codes or anything else pointing to something needing to be replaced. while they worked on the vehicle they had at some point disconnected the battery, resetting the computer, this seemed to solve the problem until last week, 9/23/2013 when the lights same lights illuminated again. this second time i never noticed the rear-end being slippery as i did in the first case. thank goodness. i was on a long trip 600 miles from home. ...
