I am writing to report a defect and safety concern about my 2016 toyota camry. last july i bought a 2016 toyota camry (vin:[xxx]) from toyota of sarasota (7435 s tamiami trail sarasota, fl 34231). last november, when i was driving this car on i75, the engine shut off suddenly and the dashboard was dead as well . i was so scared and pulled the car over to the shoulder of the road. when i calmed down , i tried to restart the engine, and it worked again. i thought it was just because it was a new car and did not report this to the dealer immediately. when my first scheduled service visit on january this year, i told the dealer what happened in november and asked them to check the car carefully and thoroughly. they told me they did not hear of the thing i told them ever happened on camry before and agree to take a look. they found nothing wrong with my car. but two weeks later, the engine shut off again when i driving the car on highway i75. the same thing happened again. i called toyota though the number 800-331-4331, and they ...
After my 25,000 mile maintenance check i began noticing a foul odor upon entering the car. oddly enough, this odor is most pronounced when the car has been sitting for a few hours. while the car is running and the fans are blowing, the smell reduces in strength. however, anytime the car is off, the cabin fills once again with this horrible foul odor. to describe the smell i would say that it's similar to a gym locker room mixed with garbage. this is extremely disappointing as my car is under 2 years old and it is solely used for commuting. food is not consumed in this vehicle and only water is drank. the fact that the smell disappears when driving with the fans on leads me to believe that there is not a dead animal present in the chassis. this seems like a mechanical issue. *tr

To whom it may concern: my 2003 toyota camry makes a rattle noise from the engine area and it's most noticeable during idle or light acceleration. my car has only 35,000 miles inspite of it being 13 years old. clearly, toyota acknowledge that it had a problem with the manifold but since my car is more than 6 years old , toyota would not cover it but my car has only 35,000 miles and this problem did not show up until now. hopefully, your office can help me with this matter. thank you so much *tr

My 2007 toyota camry is blowing white powder (aluminum oxide) when the air conditioning/heat is coming out of the vents. online research points out to the anti-mold, experimental coding that toyota put on the evaporator fans, and this is what is causing the issue. however, toyota does not want to admit this coding was put on the vehicles in 2007, and there is no official recall about this issue. at the same time, the long-term exposure to aluminum oxide could lead to lung damage. i was wondering what can be done in a case like this. please advise. toyota said that since my vehicle is not under warranty of any kind, all repairs would have to be covered by me. thank you for your advice and thought on the issue. my case number with the toyota is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I'm not sure exactly when the problems with unexpected acceleration began with this car, but they are fairly recent. all occurred when the car was stopped or moving very slowly. i do not have very good recollections of the earliest of these occurrences, but i can remember the last three clearly. the first of these was in march 2015. i was driving in an area where the speed limit was 35 mph and had stopped for a traffic signal. i remember clearly that i had my foot solidly on the brake pedal; i had been making a special point of that as a result of the earlier occurrences. i felt the engine speed up, but the car did not move. the second occasion was on march 29th when i was driving in a residential area and had stopped at a four-way stop. i was waiting for a pedestrian (walking a dog) who was crossing the road on the opposite side from where i was stopped. i do not have a firm recollection of exactly where my right foot was positioned, but it certainly was not ...
