The dashboard in my 2009 camry began to become sticky and formed a bubbling effect that reflected to the windshield making it difficult to see and severely impaired my vision. the surface appeared to be melting and i complained to my dealership and was informed that my car was no longer under warranty and that toyota would not replace it. i finally received a replacement dashboard, but i had to pay for the labor of installing it, approximately $500.00. *tr

I own a 2009 toyota camry for over 2 years i've had what is known as a "sticky dash". it's almost as if the dashboard as melted and toyota refuses to do anything for it - their response is for me to pay almost $1900 for a new dashboard plus labor which is completely unacceptable. i've also noticed that as of late, the glare due to the dashboard is interfering with my driving and i am genuinely worried about the safety of this vehicle. *tr

Dashboard is melting and sticky. *tr

I am another camry owner who has noticed my dashboard "melting". simply pressing my finger on it will leave an indent, and there are several nicks and scratches at this point. i worry that if i'm in an accident, the strength of the dashboard is compromised and it won't do it's job in helping to protect me. *tr

Toyota camry 2009, bought car 2 years ago. every summer dash heats up start melting and cause glare on windshield needs to be fixed, cause obstructive vision and excessive heat almost unbearable. in summer very sticky to the touch no accidents as of yet but concerned with the over heating and cating fire. bf updated 8/17/2015*js

The dashboard material started leaking, oozing some sticky gluey fluid that got real worse when it was hot. driving on a sunny day became very hard since the dashboard was very shiny glare reflected on the windshield and visibility was very low. i thought this was a safety issue & did some google research. i realized i was not alone. i brought this up to toyota attention by an email. they referred me to the dealer. dealer basically said the car was out of warranty and they need money to fix the issue. this issue is a "defective" material use by toyota. they need to fix this within a "safety" recall. *tr

Air comes in thru the back, around the back seats. the dealership at toyota irvine, in orange county, california, checked it out twice but couldn't find anything. this dealership didn't want to check it out again. so we're stuck with the air coming in when going above 60 mph. *tr

I noticed my dashboard starting to melt in early 2012. at first, i couldn't figure out what the problem was or how to fix it, and later realized it was melting from the heat. i can't use a windshield mat to block out the sun because it sticks to the dashboard and leaves marks. there is no way to clean the dashboard and if you touch it, it creates permanent dents and/or marks. it's sticky and gives off a bad smell. it causes a glare and makes it difficult to see out the front windshield. *tr

The dashboard to my 2009 toyota camry is sticky and it looks very shiny in the sun. *tr

Interior roof lining began sagging; and sun visor; lost its ability to return to original position. took car to dealership they said it was not under warranty. i took car and had roof lining replaced at bahamas auto upholstery - ave 4742 sw 75 ave. tel (305) 262-050 i paid $275.00; the technician said that it was common in toyotas with a sun roof, in florida. the driver side sun visor lost adhesive and snapped off, has not been replaced. at the same time i noticed that the interior dashboard was loosing its integrity, therefore i purchased a stronger reflective sun protective visor for interior, but it has not helped, dash is now melting. *tr

The dashboard began to "melt" and become sticky. it has become progressively worse, to the point it is now about an 80% liquid appearance. the dash material that doesn't have the liquid appearance is extremely soft and quite easily damaged. it cannot be cleaned, as any type of cleaning cloth or sponge immediately sticks to the surface. no cleaners or protectants have ever been applied. *tr

The dashboard on the vehicle started melting and peeling. if touched the plastic on the dashboard will come off. *js

Dash started to get sticky and whatever i tried to clean it with would end up sticking to it. over time this has gotten much worse. today , if you put your finger into the dash it will create an indentation and stay that way.i have been on the internet about this issue and a lot of toyota owners seem to be having the same problem. it is time for me to purchase a new vehicle and im not sure if i should get another toyota or go to a different vehicle. i have tried to sell my car out right and every dealer is taking at least $2000.00 off of what the car is worth. why has this problem not been recalled? it is obviously a manufacturers issue and should be repaired or replaced by toyota. im hoping that you will be able to help me resolve this issue as soon as possible. *tr

Sticky dashboard that puts a glare on windshield. *tr

The dashboard of my car melts in the heat/humidity and also causes a bright reflection onto the windshield which makes it difficult to see when driving on a sunny day. it happens when it is sunny

Approx. a year and a half after purchasing 2009 camry ( new ) noticed dashboard becoming tacky / sticky practically at point of melting. was told by dealer there's nothing they could do. after seeing report on news 7/29/14, i now am happy to see that we aren't they only consumers having this problem. seeing that warranty is no longer in affect yet still making payments on vehicle, i feel it only fare that manufacturer and or dealership should make good on repair or replacement. *js

The dashboard gets real soft and sticky when the sun hits it. it makes a glare and causes distraction while driving. *tr

Hello my dashboard is sticky and melted. also my sunroof doesn't close all the way which causes rain to come in i purchased it like that.

I had picked up a passenger about 1 1/2 hours from my home. i was returning home & noticed that the gas pedal was accelerating even tho i was pressing the brake. i couldn't stop the car& a curvy road was ahead along with a cliff. my option was to go over the cliff or go into possible oncoming traffic to try to stop the vehicle. i opted to try to turn the car into a nearby driveway. luckily no oncoming traffic was close enough to hit my car as i did this. the driveway was slanted & as i turned into the driveway i smacked into a snow bank which tore my front bumper off. luckily there were no personal injuries. i reported this to toyota & my insurance ( at the time of the accident i had heard about a toyota recall having to do with gas pedal but it had been a while & i hadn't received notification of the recall affecting my vehicle). my personal car insurance covered the $3000 worth of damage to the bumper radiator, grill, etc. over 4 years later & i still haven't recovered my deductible from toyota for a known defect in the pedal! had i been notified timely of the recall affecting my vehicle this could have been avoided! instead, i had to cover the cost to repair damage out of my pocket & i had whiplash for a few weeks caused by a known issue toyota knew of! i'm furious & disappointed that i chose a toyota! *tr

All four struts found leaking and need to be replaced with my new 2009 toyota camry. the mileage of the 2009 toyota camry is 36013 miles. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that during heavy rains, she would observe large puddles of water in the front driver and passenger's side carpet. the dealer advised that the contact drove over a puddle and installed floor panel body plugs to correct the failure. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where he found that the a/c drain was clogged with pollen and debris. the dealer serviced the vehicle accordingly yet the failure recurred at the next heavy rain. the failure mileage was 41,585 and the current mileage was 46,222.

No long after the purchase of my 2009 toyota camry the dashboard is oily and sticky. the dashboard now appears to be melting. the dashboard produces such a glare that it makes it difficult to drive. i think toyota should recall these vehicles and correct the problem at no charge to the consumer. *tr

2009 toyota camry - incidents happened before current acceleration hoopla. twice to my wife, twice to me. when quickly applying brake , foot touches gas pedal and car accelerates. never on any other car, including a 2005 camry has this happened. i believe that the relation of both pedals to each other is too close. also the design of both does not help. i drive autos, not design them, but i think this is more of a concern than floor mats. thanks for your consideration. *tr bob willett

Rust on 2009 toyota camry. the dealer compared to other 2009 same model and they all have the same rust problem. contacted the manufacturer and they are not responsive. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry which was purchased in february 2009. he stated that a piece of metal was hanging from under the passenger's side front frame, near the passenger's side wheel. he also stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine began idling uncontrollably and within minutes it would settle down and repeat. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the piece of metal that was hanging underneath the vehicle. the engine failure could not be duplicated; yet, the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the failure again, could not be duplicated. the dealer advised the contact to file a lemon law complaint since the failure could not duplicated. no repairs were made. the failure mileage was 900 and the current mileage was 4400.

My dash is melting. it is sticky and causing a glare on the windshield making it hard to see when the sun is shining. *tr

I was involved in a wreck where i was traveling roughly 5 miles per hour. the airbags did not deploy. it was a front side impact and my car was totaled. bent the frame, crunched the front part of the body (hood and side walls), blew the transmission, radiator, ac system, and much more. i still have pictures of the accident of my vehicle. because of the impact on the car i got slammed into the steering wheel and dashboard. i have permanent knee damage that could not get repaired due to lack of insurance because i'm a student. *tr

Every week, i use a cooler (standard size) for groceries and put the cooler in the trunk of my camry. whenever i make sharp turns, the lid of the trunk would pop open, probably because the cooler hits the latch inside the trunk. i consider it quite dangerous because items might fall out of the trunk if it's open. to mitigate the problem, we place pieces of cardboard around the cooler to prevent it from sliding around. we took it back to the toyota dealer and they said this is the first time they have heard of this and there is nothing they can do about it. we use coolers all the time and never had this problem with other vehicles. please investigate the issue. thank you. *tr

Dashboard is "melting". *tr
