Toyota camry sticky dashboard melting dashboards turn into shiny glare dashbord. my entire dashboard has been sticky / tacky for years. i do not know why or how it got this way. it accumulates dust and grime, and i have no way to properly clean it since all towels and cleaning cloths, unless extremely wet, get caught on it, and then it accumulates fibers from the cleaning cloths.

My trunk is leaking on the right side during heavy downpours. i went to get our fabric shopping bags from the trunk and they were soaked. the car is smelling musty, not great for my sinuses and asthma. headlight seal is allowing moisture to enter or the plastic has become porous. during a recent inspection, the headlights did not pass. we paid the gas station $32 to clean and polish the headlights to pass inspection. they looked great afterwards and passed inspection. then my husband took the car to the car wash. now the headlight casing is clouded again. i can see the soap drippings from the carwash on the inside of the plastic. the car is parked on the street or in a driveway, since we don't have a garage. the vehicle was stationary.
My car was parked at work in march, 2017. the vehicle next to me was a bmw suv. about one hour and fifteen minutes later the bmw burst into flames causing fire damage to my vehicle. the insurance company for the bmw has closed the claim saying the fire was not intentional therefore they are not paying anything for my claim. my insurance company is paying for repairs to my car, however, i have to pay the deductible and cost of a rental car. after this happened i saw several news reports of bmw's bursting into flames after being turned off for a while. they said i was 0% at fault (obviously), but it does not seem fair that i have to pay anything for this incident. all i did was park my car; my car did not have any problems with it. i hope you will continue to investigate this problem. i feel several incidents are far too many for bmw to ignore. they certainly have more money than i do. i have photos, video, etc.

Melting and sticky dash and i have not received a letter concerning this. there was a recall but i have yet to receive any information that will allow me to have it replaced
Trunk leaks during heavy rainstorms. there's mildew in the trunk space, which is infiltrating the cabin and i'm breathing it in. i'm certain this happens when the vehicle is stationary, but uncertain as to whether it happens while the vehicle is in motion. belongings that were left in the trunk have been soaked through. this occurred while the car was parked in front of my house on a public street. this has been an ongoing problem for a few years, so the date listed below as to when it happened is not a pinpointed date.
I have a 2009 toyota camry , after having it for three years the sun visors fell apart they started tearing apart literally.. then they fell off on there own . i told the toyota dealership and was told the warranty or recall had just expired i don't remember which .. also the headliner on my vehicle started dropping just as fast as my visors , this is my first vehicle and i am very disappointed on how it's coming apart.

In 2012, i started to notice the beginning of my dashboard melting on my 2009 camry. this has gotten progressively worse as time went on. the entire surface of the dashboard is sticky and shiny. i cannot even touch my dashboard without leaving a fingerprint. there is a puddle of melted dash closer to the windshield. my main concern is that the melted dashboard creates a glare when i am driving which is distracting and dangerous. thank you. *tr
I purchased a new 2009 toyota camry se, after owning ten toyota vehicles since 1978. i still own four today! i have never experienced anything like this issue in another car. in 2014-2015 (estimated) my entire dash board became sticky, as if i had poured oil on it. today it releases a thick sticky residue onto the front windshield when parked in the sun. this makes the dash impossible to wipe... as towels, sponges, even leaves, etc., get stuck to it (see pics). i can't drive my car without first wiping the inside of the windshield each time it is parked in the sun, or this residue makes it opaque (see pics...after wiping it). this situation is exacerbated when driving towards the sun (see pics) and is a safety issue!! i'm concerned how the deteriorated condition of my dash affects the deployment of the passenger airbag or if it still even operates correctly? on 8/16/19, i discovered that toyota extended its warranty to ten years from the original purchase date. mine was 7/29/09...putting me only two weeks out of their 10-year warranty coverage. toyota corporate and my dealership told me they could not offer any assistance in my case ("1 day or 1 mile over warranty and we won't help"). when challenged, toyota could not confirm letters were mailed to all affected owners, only that an effort was made to send letters to some owners in 2015. multiple models over several years are involved. i spent 8 hours on the phone appealing their decision, without success. a new dashboard costs $2600.00 (installed)!! i reported this issue here because it is a manufacturing/safety issue resulting from toyota's use of sub par materials...like defective windshield wipers...if you can't see out of your windshield at freeways speeds because of the glare from your dashboard, or the residue stuck on your windshield...you are at risk of an accident. please contact me if you have questions?

The dashboard of my 2009 camry is melting. it creates a dangerous, blinding glare. i am concerned that is will cause an accident. i have called my local dealer and was told that there has not been any recalls of the dashboard. this is truly a safety issue. i really hope a body count is not needed to investigate this issue. not only is the glare a problem, but the concern about the airbags deploying properly, is also a concern. the other issue is who knows what chemicals are being released into the car. there are several issues with the dashboard that need to be addressed and quickly. please investigate these issues and recall the dashboards to help save lives. *tr
