I had a online appointment with toyota of vacaville at 0:930 at vacaville ca and i dropped off the vehicle and was told it would be ready at lunch. i came to pick up at 13:30 and it was not ready. they did not fix the urgent recall . too busy selling oil changes and tire changes. took car home at 13:30 please investigate if selling out serves fixing recalls i now just want a refund after this . they don't care if my car suddenly accelerate they just want to sell service. i hope and this is why i am writing this my car doesn't suddenly do this and injury kids and stuff but my feeling from the dealer at vacaville is that selling products is what they do. *tr

With toyota t-sb-0094-11, toyota acknowledges that they have a problem with oil consumption in a handful of car models. they have set the bar high in order to get the repair covered, either under the normal or extended warranty. the problem gets worse as time goes on, so most cars will not experience issues until they are near or passed their warranty mileage. a series of oil consumption tests is required, but in my experience, they do not make sure the oil is not over full. i have had two tests thus far, and both times they have overfilled my oil by ~0.5 quarts. *tr

On wednesday, 2/16/11, at 4:50 p.m. i was traveling down sudbury street in boston, ma to make a right hand turn onto congress street in boston. i came down the hill and stopped at a red traffic light. my car, for no apparent reason, began to race and would not stop. i applied more pressure to the brake and shifted the car into park. it continued to race for 5-10 seconds after i did this. this was a very frightening incident, given there was a stopped vehicle in front of me, a vehicle behind me and many pedestrians at that hour. i no longer feel secure with the car and am anticipating that this may re-occur at any time. *tr updated 1/13/2012 *ln *tr

Toyota camry 2009 engine failure due to sludging. my leased 2009 toyota camry (just two year old car) recently had died right ona road while i was driving it to my mechanic. few days before that i noticed a clanking noise coming from under the hood. call my mechanic and got an appointment. on the day of the appointment noticed clanking noise increase when i started engine. not even 2 miles later my engine -boom!- had thrown rod through the bottom of the case, making a large hole, spilling oil all over the road. luckily, i was able to drift and pull to the side without causing accident. towed car to the nearest toyota center, where they opened top cover of the engine and right away announced that engine is gelled and toyota will not cover the repair under warranty because to them the sludge they saw looked like clear case of poor maintenance. even though i carefully kept and produced all receipts showing that i was changing oil, filter and rotated tires every 5000 miles. my internet research showed that there could be a lot more reasons to sludge build-up than just poor oil change habit, but as far as i am aware, toyota did not perform any tests or checks on my car. just one look and-voila- they already know that it is my fault. fact that this is my 3-rd back-to-back toyota lease and that i always keep receipts of service does not mean anything to them. $7000-$8000 repair out of my pocket is out of question. i will speak with toyota headquarters in california. if this will not resolve my problem, i will have no choice but to engage my attorney and litigate. i also want to open a case and report dangerous situation i was put through due to camry engine failure while driving on a road at 50 mi/h. i could easily be less lucky. *tr

I have a 2009 toyota camry, i was driving it to ocean city md when all of the sudden my car stalls i started it again and it started but started to make a really loud pinging noise and stalled out again. so i look under the car and there is a really big puddle of oil. i towed it to toyota so they could tell me what was wrong with it. turns out a rod of some kind came lose and went thru my oil panel which drained out all the oil in turn making my engine seize up because it was getting no oil. toyota wont fix it because i was late on some oil changes and got the last one done by somebody else. and they say it could have been cause the oil was low but that's impossible! *tr

Car would not start. got a jump, but several minutes later while driving on the highway the engine stalled three separate times. took vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the battery. *tr

Engine oil leak in 2009 camry le 4 cylinder. this car hds a rear main seal replaced at 30k miles and the lekd returned. then had a short block replaced at 34k miles. leak returned w/i 277 miles of short black replacement. filing arbitration. vehicle still leaking and engine oil leak is very obvious. *tr

In my 2009 toyota camry le, the recirculation switch turns off after about three minutes, letting in air from the outside. this is an ongoing problem whenever i'm behind a diesel vehicle. my car fills with fumes that affect my breathing. the first time i went to the toyota dealer, they said it was a standard fix, and would cost me $50. when i went in a second time, and said i didn't want to pay, they said there was no way to fix it. it's clear to me that this is a design defect, that will have a detrimental effect on the driver and passengers, and that toyota needs to fix it. *tr

After coming to a stop at a traffic light, my car engine sped up, forcing me to press down harder on the brake. the engine continued to increase in speed, and i placed the car into neutral, at which point the engine raced quite high. i turned off the ignition, the engine stopped, and i restarted it a few seconds later without further incident. my foot had not been on the accelerator from the time i stopped at the traffic light until i resumed my travels, after restarting the engine. not sure about the model year; it might have been a 2010 model. i rented the car in las vegas from advantage and have asked for the vin, but have not heard from the company yet. it is their car # [xxx] . information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My car experienced sudden & strong engine surging - the pedal did not seem to be involved. yet, required driving at slow speeds and the brake had to be applied very strongly to control the speed. it is a 2009 camry, but not on the toyota recall list (this was confirmed w/the toyota dealership). the toyota dealership could not replicate the problem, found no indication of it in the computer/electronic logs in the car. they had their service manager & quality control managers check it. no one can identify the problem. yet, it was real and quite frightening. i am concerned and believe that there are problems other than the gas pedal issue currently being investigated. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry lxe. he stated while driving at speeds of less than 35 mph the radiator warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact was able to maneuver off the highway and noticed there was radiator fluid leaking from the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to dealer where they performed a diagnostic and found there was a hole in the radiator. repairs were made to the vehicle at the owner's expense. the radiator and air conditioner cooling coil were replaced. there were no recalls for the failure. the manufacturer did not assist with the cost of the repairs. the failure and current mileages were under 26,837.

2009 camry 4cyl. - when engine was started, with transmission in park, the engine revved to over 4500 rpm without any contact with the gas pedal. only way to slow the engine was to turn off the ignition. after a few minutes, the engine was started with no issue. dealer reported "no problem found". owner believes it is a faulty computer or electrical system. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry. the contact stated that the engine was making a knocking sound. when the vehicle idle the noise became extremely loud. the contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer several times over the past year and the dealer constantly stated that the sound was normal. the last time the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, she was told that the sound could be heard, but there was nothing that could be done. the failure mileage was 14,000 and the current mileage was 25,000.

While parking and depressing the brakes, the car accelerated like a rocket and jumped over the parking curb onto the road with two way traffic. i had no control over the car. within a few seconds the car flew across the road and hit a fence and was stopped only when it fell into a ditch by the railroad tracks. luckily the car did not turn over. surprisingly, the air bags did not deploy. i kept hitting the breaks and when the car stopped my foot was still on the brake.

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry. while approaching a stop sign and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes would not engage. the vehicle continued to accelerate momentarily before decreasing speed. she has not taken the vehicle into the dealer for inspection nor had the manufacturer been contacted. she did receive an interim letter from the manufacturer advising her to remove the floor mats, stating that they could cause unintended acceleration in the vehicle. the vehicle was also hesitated when it was started on occasion and the interior lights flashed on intermittently. the failure and current mileages were approximately 19,926.

2009 toyota camry, ac smell like a rotten egg. online search shows that many car owners have this issue. this smell is so intense that car can not be driven w/o windows open. it gives head-ache and hard to bear with it. this issue should have been identified as a major issue requiring recall since we may end-up spending more money on health issues associated with it. impact of this on economy due to loss of working day and productivity can not ignored. *tr

I have a 2009 toyota camry. i purchased it in 2008. it started shaking/vibrating every time you come to a stop light one year after i purchased it. i took it to the toyota dealer twice (once to have the oil changed and again because the vibration was so bad) and they proceeded to tell me it is because the air filter and fuel line filter needed to be changed & cleaned out. it would cost me almost $500. the car was only a year old. i was wondering if this is the same problem that they noticed with the current corolla recall? we had the 2 air filters changed & it still continues to shake. some times so violently that you can see your hand on the steering wheel vibrating and the rear view mirror is blurred. *tr

Safety hazard!. 2009 toyota camry (likely all hybrid automobiles) will continuously restart the gas engine to recharge the battery if the ignition system is not turned off when departing the vehicle. if the auto is in an attached garage this could result in accidental co poisoning to occupants within the dwelling. i have observed a hybrid continuously restarting while parked in the driveway. this car is usually kept in an attached garage. the owner forgot to turn off the ignition upon leaving the car. this is likely a common event. this will eventually result in seriously injury or death, and may have already happened and not been properly identified and reported. i had reported this safety hazard to the ntsb in mid-2009 with no subsequent ntsb acknowledgement or follow-up. *tr

(2009 toyota camry) my vehicle lurched forward causing near collision with other vehicle during normal stop and go. problem occurs periodically, according to local toyota dealer's not enough to cause concern. vehicle remains in same condition. this issue is not related to the sticking acceleration pedal issue. *tr

I have a 2009 toyota camry hybrid. i got an oil change. a day later the dash light came on. i just assumed that they didn't reset my oil change light. i drove it for about two weeks and then took a 300 mile round trip. when i was driving home, i was hearing a knocking noise. i went to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. they said that the oil filter was not on the vehicle, there was oil under the body of the car and that i would need a new engine due to this one burned up. has anyone ever had an oil filter blown off the vehicle. i'm curious due to the fact that it took two weeks to burn up and oil would have come out faster if the oil filter had been left off from the oil change. *tr
