Dashboard is melting. it is sticky and cannot be undone. bits come off in fingernails when they strike dashboard in error. *tr
I purchased the camry back in 2010. car was great, looked great. dash looked good, or at least i thought the dealers detailer made it look good. shortly afterwards, noticed the dash was incredibly sticky. took it to back to the dealer i bought it from and extended warranty would not cover the dashboard, and it was out of manufacturers warranty. took it to toyota dealer too and they said toyota would not cover either. the dash is incredibly sticky, like the glue that toyota used to glue the top material down on the dash is seeping through the top layer. the glue creates an incredible glare when driving, which can be incredibly dangerous during sunny days as it makes things hard to see unless you're wearing a pair of sunglasses, and even so the glare is still there. the glue also makes things stick to the dash, making it incredibly hard to clean as well, which can also show up on the glare on the windshield. i've never used any greasy, or oily products to clean my dash as i was worried about making the glue/glare problem even worse. i'm tempted to either buy a dash cover, which ironically will stick to the dashboard, or tint my windshield to keep the glare down. it's very disappointing toyota cheaped out on the material used in the dash, that's going to hurt resale value for all camrys with the issue down the road, and can create dangerous conditions if the glare is bad enough for some people. i moderate a toyota forum and i see this exact issue pop up a lot. i've included a few links for reference. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/104-5th-6th-generation-2002-2006-2007-2011/391341-2007-toyota-camry-dashboard-melting-under-florida-heat.html http://www.nairaland.com/1095499/07-08-camry-dashboard-melting http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/21726645/exclusive-some-toyota-camrys-suffer-from-sticky-cracking-dashboards. *tr
Passenger sun visor does not stay up. it droops and obscure visibility. i have to either fold it to left window side or hold it while driving. *tr
Dashboard is melting and causes a glare on the windshield. *tr
Dash gets sticky in the hot weather, when it is out in the sun or in the garage. *tr
Dash board started melting causing a glare on the windshield. dash board is extremely sticky and insects, dirt and anything that comes in contact with the dash stick to it. *tr
Dash board is melting and cracking, looks awful cannot be touched because it immediately makes a mark. it is shiny and causes a glare on windshield. cannot believe how the quality of a car as is the toyota can have something like this happening and does nothing about, what a great way to keep your clients happy!! *tr
2007 camry le with only 24000 km middle heat shield rusted hanging. toyota in guelph ontario removed it because it has rusted so it does not fall off. they wanted to charge me $300 cdn to reinstall new one. should not this be covered by bumper to bumper warranty? i think this is big safety item because it is large piece and if it would have fallen off on highway it could cause injury or death. again my car has only 24000 km . *tr
Dash board has been melting for years, i complaint to toyota, and they said there was no recall or problems with other vehicles, now i found out that there is a lot of toyotas with the same problem. *tr
I have brought my vehicle in several times complaining about my shiny, sticky, and dangerous dashboard. it is a recall but my toyota dealership advised me it would be over $2500 to replace. after call the head corporation it was dropped down but i still can't afford it. it is extremely dangerous and distracting i try to cover the shininess but whatever touches the dash gets stuck to it and i am loosing piece after piece. it is not safe to drive when it is sunny or raining as the reflection shines right in my view while driving. i live in florida and it is always one or the other here. thank you for addressing this. *tr
2007 camry xle. the dashboard is sticky and appears to be melting. small pieces of the dash have come off and there is glare on the windshield from the dash on a bright sunny day. i have owned this vehicle since it was new. it has always been garage kept and at work i always used a full windshield sun visor. *tr
2007 toyota camry developed melted dashboard. dashboard became severely sticky and gummy and continually worsened. melted dashboard creates a significant glare on windshield which is a safety hazard. melted dashboard also raises a concern for proper operation of airbags. toyota usa and local toyota dealerships have been notified on multiple occasions. articles/news stories from hawaii to texas and florida have presented a similar problem and various online complaints and discussions highlight a similar concern. *tr
Dashboard is very shiny and when attempted to clean, discovered it was very sticky. over the years it has spread from the part of the dash closest to the windshield and now includes the entire surface. it's so melted you can take chunks out of it with just your fingernail.and the glare from the shine reflecting off the windshield is blinding at times. i think this is a safety concern that originates from a poorly manufactured part and should be recalled by toyota. *tr
Would you please check into this problem i'm having with toyota please? at lease take a 2007 toyota camry le for a test drive and roll down the back windows and drive 40 ' 70mph. here's my story. toyota says too bad: i was told the defining noise with the back windows rolled down is normal. without exaggerating, at 70 miles an hour, it would pop an ear drum. at 45 miles an hour your ears close up like you're on a jet plane and become painful. toyota did take it for a test drive with me and they say the noise is normal for this car. i would suggest you take a test drive of a 2007 toyota camry and then have all of them recalled for the damage it may cause your ear drum if you feel necessary. think of the children that cannot say help when in the back seat. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard was deteriorating and would become indented with minimal force. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 154,000.
On april 27, 2010, i was backing out of a parking space. i usually back out of a parking space very slowly so that i can stop at anytime. after i had cleared the parking space and before i could exchange gears, the car (2007 toyota camry) kept on reversing. i put my foot on the brake but the car did not stop. it stopped when it hit a van which was adjacent to a police car. luckily the police officer witnessed the entire accident. when the police officer approached my car he stated that "i thought you were going to hit me." i replied by saying "my car would not stop; i could stop the car." i informed the police officer that when i put my foot on the brake, the car continued to accelerate. the police report indicates that there was a problem with the acceleration. this statement is also want the mechanic said when he put the car in reverse to work on the car. *tr
I have a 2007 toyota camry. i took it to a toyota dealer on 4/2/2010 for the gas pedal modification and mentioned a thumping sound whenever i went over a bump in the road. i was told that a part that holds a heat shield in place under the gas tank had rusted away and the heat shield was making the noise. did i want it fixed? of course i did, who wants the exhaust pipe to come in contact with the gas tank? i paid the $153.81 to have the heat shield problem fixed, and asked why an important part like that had failed after only 37,000 miles? they told me it's probably because of the weather and the snow and the rust. my problem remains - why a failure on a potentially dangerous part after only 37,000 miles? at least a third of toyota's sales have to be in places where there's snow. appears they're using cheap parts in critical places which could cause disastrous consequences. how could a part that holds a heatshield in place rust out after only 37,000 miles? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the front driver's door caught on fire while driving. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and the dealer stated that the electronic circuits on the door caused the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. updated 06/06/12 *js
Melting dashboard. *js
The spare tire well fills up with water. first noticed the problem when i had a flat tire and needed to use the spare. taken to dealer for corrective action. dealer sealed the tire well. that did not resolve the issue. again taken to dealer and trunk door seal was replaced. this has not resolved the issue. recently had a flat tire, and again discovered the tire well filled with water. the trunk now has moldy, mildew odor. have made another appointment with dealer. *tr
we own a 2007 toyota camry and have gone to our local dealership to have the recall taking care of. and to our surprise our gas pedal was cut to a size much smaller than its original version. we have never received notification of this solution for this recall, nor have seen anything on the media that states this is what is being done for a solution. the gas pedal in this format is unacceptable and my foot does not sit properly on the pedal as it should and did before this adjustment. we feel that a new gas pedal should be installed. we purchased this vehicle new and should be entitled to new parts for recalled items, not damaged items in a new vehicle. is there anything you can do to assist with this matter or address toyota corp regarding this solution? *tr
Dash board is very sticky, becoming shiny, composition is changing to very soft, easily depressed and indented, and progressively getting worse. shiny dashboard causes glare to reflect on windshield affecting visibility while driving on sunny days. *tr
My dash is melting and disintegrating. it is really sticky causing a dangerous glare while driving. i have researched this problem and apparently i am not the only one with this issue. i have contacted the toyota dealership but they wanted me to purchase a new dash. this can be a dangerous situation while driving with sun shining causing a glare and making it difficult to see the road. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the plastic cover for the dashboard melted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the dashboard was not replaced. the failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 56,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry xle. the contact stated the dashboard melted from sun rays when the vehicle was parked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 68,888.
I reported the sticky dash problem to dealership at about 60,000 miles in 09 along with the steering wheel material falling apart. this problem has only gotten worse to the point where my dash is creating a glare on the windshield. i think there should be a recall for original owners as this can be a safety hazard. full recall should be mandatory . but if owner has to pay it should be very little . maybe like 500 instead of the 1800$ quote i got from the dealership . i've owned other cars in florida and never had this problem . i'm kinda disappointed that toyota will not take care of this problem and this will affect my buying decision in the future unless they fix it since this will affect my trade in value. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry le. the contact stated that whenever it rained there was a puddle of water on the drivers side floor. the first time the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, they stated that the drain plugs were installed correctly. the second time the vehicle was taken to the dealer, the entire vehicle had to be vacuumed out and the carpet cleaned. the failure occurred three times and the dealer was unable to correct the failure. the manufacturer was willing to assume responsibility for the repair cost; however, the contact feels that the failure may eventually cause other components to fail. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was 45000.
The dashboard is getting very soft and when something touches it, it gouges out pieces of it. it looks horrible in my $30,000 car !!!! *tr
2007 camry xle. problems with hesitation when accelerating. the dealership just blew me off when i explained the problem. acted as if this was never a problem with camrys. also have had problems with steering column's radio controls - when pressing the appropriate buttons, nothing would happen or, when seeking stations that were programmed in, the down or up buttons would jump to other stations not programmed. since this problem is erratic, nothing was done by dealer. problems with the outdoor temperature gauge - at times, it would take 15-20 minutes before the temperature would change to the correct one. example: it read 77 degrees when it was actually in the mid-90s. dealership did repair this last summer but now, it is reading seven+ degrees off the actual outdoor temperature. the final problem with this car is that the paint is chipping off of the frame area below the doors of the car. this has never happened with any previous car i have owned. dealer attributed it to the fact that this car is the sport version so it rides lower. first toyota i have owned and it looks like it may be my last. *tr
Terrible interior noises, especially in sunroof area (sunroof rattles when closed). dealer has applied a technical service bulletin once but issue still exists. car is currently with dealer to diagnose issues. *tr
About 4 to 6 year ago happen melting dash board. *tr
My dashboard has been melting for the last 5 years. *tr

The exterior paint on my 2007 toyota camry is so defective that it simply washed right off while it was being washed at a car wash. while using the car wash sprayer, i approached the front of my car and noticed the paint wash off about a 2"x3" spot. it flew off with hardly any force from the car wash as though it was not even attached. one could now see the grey primer that was below the black paint, as the primer remained intact. the black exterior paint peeled right off the car. because the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty, i took the car to dennison toyota to be repaired. their employee said to bring the car back when the toyota's regional paint warranty expert was in town, so they could look at it. after doing this, i was very saddened to learn that toyota would not repair the faulty paint because they said that the car had been repainted already and they would only warrant, their own paint. they determined that the car had been repainted because they said that the now visible primer color was not the color they used. they said they used a black primer but this was a lighter grey. i bought the car with only 22k miles, so i knew it had not been repainted as the carfax was clean, and the grey primer was visible under various scratches in the paint on all sides of the car. why on earth would someone strip and reprime the entire car? disgruntled, i emailed the toyota customer service dept. today, they got back to me and confirmed the primer color should be a light grey, not black indicated by the regional paint expert. they apologized for not training their people better. so i called my dealer again and he is still very squirmy saying that he doesn't know what he can do. i told him that since the premise of the regional paint experts refusal to repair the paint was false, the car should be covered by the warranty since it was the manufacturer's paint that failed before the warranty expired. we shall see what they say. *tr
My husband and i own a 2007 toyota camry which we purchased in 2007 from mike erdman toyota in merritt island, fl. in 2009, while cleaning the dashboard with a damp cloth with water, i noticed the top of the dashboard was gummy and sticky. i googled information on this in 2009, but there wasn't a lot of information on it back then. since then, my dashboard had gotten worse and there is a glare on my windshield that makes it very dangerous to drive. on april 17, 2014, i called mike erdman toyota where we purchased the car and the service area representative, [xxx] told me that they are aware of the problem but they were informed by toyota that only customers that have been "loyal" customers who have had their maintenance and service work done at the dealership would have the problem fixed. i was appalled that she would say that to me. i told her that i go where i want to go to get my car serviced and i felt that what she just said to me was like blackmail. i asked to speak with a manager but she said she would talk to him. she called me back the same day and said the manager would give me an answer tomorrow (4/18/14). by 5:00 on 4/18/14 when i didn't get a call back, i called [xxx]. she said her boss said the cost of the job would be $1,652. and that they would give me 20% off ($330.). i said why would i have to pay anything for a defective part? she said she didn't know if it was defective. i said it is. all she had to do is google toyota camry sticky dashboards and she will come up with a whole lot of people with the same exact problem. she said she doesn't believe everything she reads on the internet. she admitted to me the day before that there was indeed a problem. i informed her i was going to get in touch with toyota and she said "fine". information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard had an extreme glare and was causing difficulty with visibility while the contact was traveling at any speed. the dashboard also exhibited cracks and was to the point of deterioration. the vehicle was to be inspected, diagnosed and repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was not available.
Squeaking and rattling noises in roof (near to sunroof area).*tr
A couple of years after i bought this car ,the dashboard started melting in the florida sun.toyota refuses to fix or replace this dashboard .this causes a dangerous reflective glare that reflect the sun in my face while i am driving and obscures my vision. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor failed to function and the dashboard was deteriorating. the owner was concerned that the dashboard failure could affect the structural integrity of the air bag components. the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased was contacted, but had not provided a manufacturer customer support program - lsc ze6 (toyota dash problem melting cracking warranty extension). the dealer stated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure several times and the contact was waiting for a case manager to respond with a resolution. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact did not have the dealer information handy. the failure mileage was not available.
My 2007 toyota camry dashboard started to melt two years after purchasing car.toyota dealer kept on giving me the run around making up excuses, just find out other vehicle's are having the same defect problem.hopefully toyota fix the defect problem immediately!. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. each time it rained the drivers side floor was extremely wet. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who removed the carpet, cleaned it twice and reinstalled the same carpet. they also cleaned the ac hose that was clogged with debris and the vehicle was repaired under the warranty. the failure recurred after the dealer previously repaired it. the dealer was contacted again but informed her that they really don't know where the water was coming from and they were unable to repair the failure. the manufacturer was called and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.
2007 toyota camry se, sun visors pop out of joints and become inoperable. lights go out and then the visor stops woking and just hangs there. it happened with driver side sun visor first then left one. no significant event just inoperable over night. there is a popping sound though before it stops working. *tr
Melting dashboard in heat is a serious problem. it gets sticky like duct tape and ultimately weakens and ruins the upholstery on the dash. toyota needs to step up and correct this issue. it's a serious one. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard was sticky from melting in the sun. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000.
About a year to year and a half after purchasing my camry the dashboard started becoming sticky and causing a horrible glare on the windshield. every time i brought it into the dealership i was told it was a manufacturer's defect but they would not take care of it and that it would cost me over $2000.00 to fix it. even when i switched dealerships i was told the same thing. now if it is a manufacturer's defect why is it my responsibility to pay to have it replaced? the glare during the summer in florida is really bad. the glare has been so bad that i have almost had a few accidents because of it. i used to swear by toyotas but now i don't think i would ever by one again after this. *tr
