The sun visor for some time has been clicking when moved down or up. this monday it finally broke for good. it no longer stays up out of the drivers view and is not able to be adjusted as normal. i have noticed on several discussion groups that this is a very common occurrence. i believe that toyota has know that this is a week part and should initiate a recall to replace or reimburse the cost of replacement. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota camry and the dashboard is melting. the dashboard towards the windshield is always in a liquid state and the rest of the dashboard is soft. in the sunshine and at night under street lights the dashboard reflects a glare onto the windshield that impairs the drivers entire vision of the road. also on the passenger side of the dashboard the outline of the airbag compartment can be seen. i believe the glare on the windshield is a hazard and due to the current condition of the dashboard the passenger airbag may fail to deploy when needed. the dashboard has not been treated with chemicals that may have caused this problem. it has always been cleaned with a wet wash cloth. *tr

I have decided to file this complaint due to the fact that toyota, inc. has refused to acknowledge or do anything about the issue. i own a 2007 toyota camry xle, which i purchased new in 2006. in 2012, i started noticing some issues with the dashboard. it was very shiny and sticky to the touch. the texture is gummy and will come off in your fingernail if scratched or nicked. i contacted toyota, who told me to take the vehicle to my dealership, joe meyers toyota, in houston, tx. i did that and also gave the service manager, [xxx], the link to a youtube site of someone else with the same issue. [xxx] told me that he had never seen that issue but said that he would give me an estimate of the cost (for toyota's purposes) and someone would be in touch. toyota, via email, informed me that [xxx] , who is the customer relations manager, is the person that i would deal with as far as communication. well, i waited a couple of weeks and never received a call so i emailed [xxx] , who said they were still waiting for a response from toyota. [xxx] called me a week later and gave me an incident #. a month or so went by and i never heard from anyone. i called [xxx] and never got an answer. i left a couple of messages but never received a return call. i contacted toyota again and was finally told by someone with the corporate office that toyota's stance is that it is a warranty issue and if your vehicle out of the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, it will not be covered. this is clearly a manufacturer's defect and the issue doesn't occur until after the original warranty is out. there are hundreds or more of people with this issue. this issue also affects safety due to glaring from the sun on the dash and possibility of airbag interference. i have attached my youtube video. thank you for your time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nin0veo8yyo. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My 2007 toyota camry hybrid's dashboard is melting and the glare on the windshield caused by the melted surface is an extreme safety hazard when driving the vehicle. *tr
Over the past couple years i have noticed that the dash on my 2007 camry has started to change. it has become sticky and is starting to peel away from the underlying foam. it appears to be worse on the upper portion of the dash where the sun/heat would shine. when i contacted my local dealership about this issue at my last service they said they were unaware of the problem and that i must have used a chemical to cause this problem. i told them that i had done some research about this and that it seems to be a common problem with this year/model. they told me i would need a new dash. it would take a day and a half to install and cost just under $2100. i purchased this car new december 2006. it has been well taken care of, never used any chemicals on the dash to have caused this issue. *tr
I was parked in a parking garage with the car running i was speaking on the phone via the vehicles bluetooth. upon ending the call i exited the car to ensure it was parked properly between the lines and close enough to the wall in front of the parking space. i then retrieved my laptop bag, coat and hat from the drivers side backseat. i put my coat on closed it up, put on my hat and extended the arm on my laptop bag. i then closed the back door and turned to retrieve items from the front seat and turn off the vehicle. as i turned to return to return to the front seat door the car flew out of the parking space. as the car passed me and the car beside me the front door swung completely open. i ran and chased the car for fear it might hit someone and also assuming i did not place the car in park. upon jumping into the moving car the first thing that hit me was the bright "p" lit up on the dash indicating the car was already in park. i attempted to apply the brakes and also constantly pushing the gear up. finally both my actions and the cars acceleration were stopped by the slamming of the car into a cement wall. while i have no recollection of the actual impact the visible signs upon my body were a large red knot over my right eye as well as scraped and bloody knees. after finally turning the car off the car failed to start up again. the incident was reported by my husband to the car manufacturer the day of the incident and while they provided us with a 60 day maximum timeframe the time has lapsed and we still have heard nothing from the manufacturer. note: mileage is approximate. *tr

The area on the front part of the dashboard (next to the windshield) has become sticky and shiny. it is tacky to the touch and easily gouges. it creates a glare for the driver that can impair his ability to drive. we have tried washing the area and it does not improve the condition! it is dangerous and unsightly! *tr
Dashboard is deteriorating/disintegrating....very sticky to touch and has consistency of modeling clay. a "shine" is developing on the dashboard and reflecting to the front windshield making it difficult to see through the windshield----very dangerous/very distracting! *tr
I have a gen6 toyota camry with a dash that has been getting sticky and seems to be melting. this has been slowly getting worse over the past 2 years. this has never been cleaned with chemicals other than soap and water. the dash closest to the window has become 'glossy' to the point of causing visibility issues and reflection of exterior lighting. i have searched the web extensively and there seems to be no 'one' answer. some dealers are replacing dash, some are offering to cover materials and some only offering 10-20% discounts. can you contact me or refer me to the proper department to submit a claim for a replacement. as this is clearly a toyota 'product related' problem, i would expect that toyota would have a resolution to fix/replace the dash as needed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that during hotter weather, the dashboard would become soft and sticky. the dealer advised the contact to cover the dashboard with a sunshield to prevent the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000 was and the current mileage was 69,599.

The dashboard on my 2007 toyota camry has melted and is very sticky. it is easily damaged just by lightly bumping it. also, the glare from the dashboard is extremely dangerous. since i drive to work facing the sun and drive home facing the sun, the commute is very difficult, tiresome, and dangerous. please advise me how to rectify this problem. *tr

I returned from the northeast. my car was in my garage. my entire dashboard seemed to be melting. you could put your hand on it and your hand would stick to it. it was very dangerous because it was very shiny and the dash would be reflected in the front windshield. you were unable to see clearly through the window. it's happened every october when i return to florida, toyota wouldn't acknowledge that it was their responsibility or even a problem. i just found out through a local news story that many car owners in our area have the same problem. *tr
On september 2011, the texture of my dashboard started changing to a shiny tacky texture, and the closer to the window the more severe it was. i must add that i take great care of my vehicle and whenever it's parked outside i use interior windshield covers to protect it from the sun and heat. in an attempt to clean it, i noticed the dashboard was disintegrating. it was coming right off and it was impossible to remove the sticky texture. furthermore, the dashboard is so soft that it can be scrapped right off with a nail or any slightly sharp object. i've been investigating this issue, and it appears to be common on 2007 camry's and 2007 lexus' vehicles. i created a video demonstrating this defect and have posted it on youtube. it can be found by searching "toyota camry sticky dashboard" or by clicking on this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47w3slkgvp0&feature=email *kb

My dashboard is melting! i cannot touch it without sticky goo coming off of it. i creates a terrible glare and is hard to see out of windshield. *tr
Melting, sticky dash which causes a glare during daylight driving. *tr
In my 2007 toyota camry, at first (approx. 2011) the dashboard would feel sticky, as if something had spilled on it. however the stickiness could not be cleaned up. it was in fact the material of the dashboard melting. it continues to get worse and spreads across a larger area, to the point that now (2014) the dash cannot be touched without a mark being left in the melted material. it looks wet and is so glossy that the glare is impossible to see through most of the day. this is clearly a manufacturers defect and should be recalled as it is a safety hazard, not just with the blinding glare which impairs vision, but because the passenger airbag is contained inside of the dashboard and the dashboard being melted may affect its deployment. *tr
The dash has become very sticky and shiny like it is melting. when you drive towards the sun, the glare off the shiny dash is so bad you cannot see out of the windshield. toyota will not recognize that there is a problem and will only give a small loyalty amount towards the repair since the vehicle is out of warranty. i have been talking to toyota for since 2011 and they are not willing to help. this is a tremendous safety issue. *tr

Dashboard started in 2011 to melt. has a shiny stickiness to it. when driving their is a glare on the window causing it hard to see when driving. *tr
The dashboard on my 2007 toyota camry is melting and is very sticky, especially during the summer months. i've notice this issue several years ago but didn't pay to much attention to it, other then it's difficult to clean and sticky. i received a warranty enhancement notification - ze6 from toyota motor sales regarding this issue earlier this year april 2015. i've call the local dealership where i bought the car originally and inquire about this recall notice & was told that the dashboard would be ordered & once it came in i would be contacted, i never heard back from them, so i called again recently and express my safety concerns while driving on a sunny day with glare coming off the dashboard onto the windshield, the glare is very blinding if not wearing sunglasses. i was once again told by the service rep at the toyota dealership that there's nothing they can do until they receive the parts from the manufacture & that at this time there's no time frame for correcting this issue. i have read several posts regarding this very same issue and notice that no one has had this issue corrected by toyota for free, obviously this is a vehicle manufacture defect that toyota needs to deal with before someone gets hurt. i purchased a toyota vehicle because of the reputation on quality & customer service, but until now i've not seen either of these. toyota needs to stand behind their product & make it right for all affected consumers.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact noticed that the front driver side floorboard would fill with water when it rained. the contact stated that mold and mildew was growing throughout the front driver side floorboard. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the drains from the sunroof could have been disconnected and causing water to leak into the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 250,000.
The dashboard has melted when the car was 4 years old. there is a blinding glare from the sunlight reflecting off the dash into the driver's eyes. toyota refuses to acknowledge the manufacture of a defective product and will not cure the defect, claiming it is a warranty issue. *tr
I purchased this automobile new in 2007. approx 2 years ago the dash board started to melt. it is presently very soft and sticky to the touch. if you touch it with anything firm like a finger of edge of a sun visor it leaves a permanent mark. small pieces are coming off the edges of the dash over the navigation screen. car has always been in the garage when at home and i have always used a sun visor when parked away from home. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the sun visor plastic holder detached from its housing, causing the sun visor to hang abnormally. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 45,000.
My 2007 camry's dashboard seems to be "melting." it is very sticky and reflects a glare on the windshield - making it hard to see. i am afraid it will eventually lead to an accident. i have heard of others having the same problem, so i know there must be a solution or a recall soon. toyota changed dashboard material in 2009 (from what i heard on the news) so it makes me believe that they were aware of the issue... please help! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard had melted. the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic or dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 28,000.
Dashboard is sticky and the condition is getting worse by the day. the whole dashboard is melting and this also creates a safety hazard since the visibility is impaired by the glare when days are sunny. there are numerous complaints for the same issue and i do not understand why no action has been taken to hold toyota responsible. *tr
The dashboard of my 2007 toyota camry se has been melting and there is a shine reflection of the dashboard in the windshield creating a visibility problem. i bought this car brand new when it came out at maroon toyota at weston, fl. when i started with the problem i took it to this dealership and the manager said my car was our of warranty and could do nothing. i also took it to headquarters toyota in miami where i have been taking my car for maintenance and i got the same reply. i called toyota usa and the agent said he can't do anything else either because the dashboard of the car has a warranty of only 3 years. this is a manufacturing defect of the car. i never heard of a melting dashboard and my car right now has less than 65k and this started when it was around 50k miles. please, can you help? i am sure i cannot be the only one complaining. thank you *tr
The dashboard started to get sticky and come apart. it also caused a glare when driving in the daytime. it has increasingly gotten worse. *tr

2007 camry indigo blue paint scratches. under each entry door handle there are tons of scratches, as if you have many rings on your fingers scratching the paint. i bought the car new in 2007 and this issue presented itself from the beginning. it's like the top layer of paint will not stay on because you can see the primer layer right under the blue paint scratches. *tr
2007 toyota camry. consumer states that the dashboard is disintegrating or melting. consumer is concerned since the dash holds all the instrument panel gauges, and panels. *kb
