I just purchased this 2007 camry from a car dealership . very nice car low miles well taken care of. i checked the car out very well i thought . these cars bring a premium price. while test driving noticed dash cover lifted it up looked for cracks looked fine. later on that day bought car . while waiting for someone to drive my other vehicle home thought didn't like dash cover and decided to take it off. mistake! dash was so sticky like you spray adhesive on it . the dash cover has small velcro strips on stuck to dash which while attempting to remove took piece of dash with it. went into dealership explained situation to sales rep and they fixed hole. asked why dash sticky he did not know. on a hot sunny day better have dark sunglasses on for the glare from dash is a distraction. dash puts off a odor when hot and sticky. i put cover back on dash it helps some. i should of did more research on 2007 camry because a lot of people are having same issue. there is no solution other than a new dash which toyota so far will not pay for. toyota needs to save their reputation because i will never buy another toyota ! *tr

The seat belt did not securely hold me in when the car behind me hit me, i was at a dead stop and was rear ended, the air bags also did not deploy, and my face hit the steering wheel. the force of the rear ending pushed me into the suv in front of me, the car was totaled. i suffered a concussion, whip lash, wrist and elbow injury and lower back was hurt after the impact. i was wearing my seat belt thankfully otherwise i could have hit the wind shield.

The vehicle was turning into a parking space with the brake on. suddenly the vehicle lunged forward and went through the glass front of a bank building, landing in the vestibule. the accident data provided by the inspector hired by toyota clearly shows that at the time the brake pedal was depressed. when the brake was applied the acceleration increased from .78 to 2.27 and the engine rpms increased from 400 to 2000. when the brake was released at the time of the accident, the acceleration rate returned to .78 and the rpms dropped to 1600. toyota says they found no mechanical problems with the car and insists that both the accelerator and brake were pressed at the same time, which was not the case. this was not the first time the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly, but at the time we didn't realize that there might be a problem with the car. we feel toyota doesn't want to take responsibility for this issue and are concerned that this might happen again. as a result, my wife is now afraid to ride in the car. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry's dashboard is melting. it's like someone has poured honey or syrup all over it. i first noticed it this summer and it has progressively gotten worse. i have tried to clean it with windex and a paper towel or a dry cloth. it now has paper towel pieces stuck all over it and the dust is permanently on the dash because it won't wipe off. there is also a glare on the windshield and a horrible substance on the inside of the windshield that cannot be wiped off no matter how much you clean it, it just smears. this causes difficulties driving at night. god only knows what chemicals are being released inside the vehicle that we are all inhaling! i have taken my car to round rock toyota in round rock, tx and they basically told me how awful it was but they couldn't/wouldn't help me unless i wanted to purchase a new dash board for my car. from my reading on the internet i have found that there are many people with this same problem and toyota is doing absolutely nothing to make amends for the defective materials they have used in these vehicles. i cannot sell my car like this and i'm sure it will effect the value of my car should i ever try to replace it. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry dashboard started to melt this summer. i typically wipe away the dust with a clean microfiber cloth from time to time. i have been unable to do so this entire summer because anything that touches the dashboard sticks to it. it's now getting to the point that it creates a glare on the windshield and can be hard to see on a sunny day. toyota should recall this and replace it with a dashboard that won't do the same thing. i understand wear and tear but this is ridiculous. i have had many cars and this is the first situation i've come across that i felt needed to be fixed by the company, no matter how old the car is. toyota told me it had no idea about this being an issue. clearly from what i've read online, they are in denial. most reports i've seen online are in texas and florida. i'm reporting this issue from st. louis, mo. *tr

I starting noticing that my dashboard was getting sticky the beginning of 2014, it starting getting worse over e following months, i went online and noticed that other people were complaining about the melting dashboards on the camry so i wrote to the company numerous times, and they told me that t was past the warranty and that they would do nothing about it, and i would have to pay to get it fixed. i see is as a major issue that they knew about but won't do anything about it, i refuse to pay the ridiculous amount that it would need to be fixed. the surface is very shiny and there is a bad reflection which makes it hard to see, i had a gps holder on the dash and it fell off and pulled off some of the dash with it. i am very upset about this and feel that toyota should fix this. *tr

On my 2007 toyota camry i have noticed that the front dashboard became very shiny and become very sticky and has since started to deteriorate. the shine coming from the dashboard reflects and causes a harsh glare which makes it very hard to see through the windshield. also, the passenger side air bag sensor is not working, it remains off no matter what. not sure if this is related to the dashboard melting but i have searched the internet and have seen several complaints of this same issue. *tr

Currently, i own two toyotas and in the past was a loyal customer. i was driving down the road in my 2007 camry in january and suddenly my sun visor dropped down temporarily blinding me. i tried to get it to go back up, but it kept dropping down while i was in traffic. i had to drive home with one hand holding the visor and the other on the steering wheel. clearly, as this was a mass produced vehicle, i could not have been the only person with this issue. so, i called the new toyota of clermont dealership just a few blocks from my home. i asked for the service department. they asked for my vin number and then informed me that there were two recalls, but nothing that covered the broken visor. i was very surprised as the visor was far more dangerous than either of the other issues. on friday 2/28/14, i found online that there were a ton of other complaints about the sun visor and that there was a "warranty extension" for 2007 camrys. i took my camry over to the dealership and was informed by david the service manager that i had missed the "warranty extension" by two weeks. when i told them that they had misled me by telling me that the visor was not covered weeks ago, they informed me that the service receptionist was not trained on warranty extensions, only on recalls. i called the 800-gotoyota line and received no support. first of all toyota should have made this a recall because it is definitely a passenger safety issue. it literally renders the vehicle undriveable. they used deception in making it a warranty extension. is this how they maintain a high rating for quality. is this how the limit the cost of recalls? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
