I own a 2007 toyota camry and my dashboard is all sticky and shiny...tried to go to the dealer...and dealer claimed it's not a recall...all the dust, dirt and debris from the outside has stuck (harbored) right onto my sticky dashboard, i have tried unsuccessfully to clean it but all elements gets stuck onto dashboard....with all this being said, i believe this has caused some breathing issues for me when i drive. (i have severe allergies)...so yes in this case, it certainly warrants a health and safety concern. i would like to escalate this issue. thanks, *tr

I have 2007 toyota camry ce. a couple of years ago i noticed that my dashboard was getting sticky, gummy and disintegrating. i have almost 110,000 miles on it. i want toyota to fix this manufacturing defect since its getting very difficult to drive on a sunny day. *tr
The dashboard on my toyota camry is very sticky and shiny and it reflects a shiny shadow when the sun or night lights hit it. it causes a reflection and it makes it hard to see while driving. *tr
My 2007 toyota camry has the dashboard all melted. this causes a tremendous amount of glare while driving during the day and you cant see through the windshield. i've looked over the internet aswell as talked with friends and family and this is an ongoing problem with these camry models. looks like a manufacture defect that toyota does not want to replace. every year i contact them and its the same answer that it is not covered under warranty. please help !!! *tr
Melts in the sun so.soft a fingernail will damage it with just a simple brush. cannot clean because of how soft it gets. creates a glare which causes blindspots. *tr
We just bought this car for my daughter yesterday evening from a toyota dealer in fl. i saw a shiny blemish on the dashboard up by the left front speaker and the salesman told us the dash was probably damaged by cleaning agents. i realized today after the car was in the sun that the whole dash was soft and sticky like it was melting and was causing a very blinding glare when facing certain directions with the sun. the dash is so shiny that it also reflects on the windshield. the whole dash feels like a fly trap and to me seems very dangerous when driving because of the obstruction of due to glare. i've been reading online and apparently i'm not the only one experiencing this problem with a melting dashboard, nor is it limited to toyota. it seems to be a manufactured parts defect and should be handled or recalled by the car manufacture.. there also seems to be a smell the hotter it gets in the car and i don't know if its the plastic in the dash or if it could be potentially harmful. please help. thank you! *tr
My dashboard is melting. it's become extremely sticky and shiny. even when i try to wash it, it continues to secrete a slimy sticky film. the plastic is failing. toyota wants over 2000 dollars to replace it. it's dangerous because it's so terribly shiny. i bought it new in 2007. *tr
Dashboard becomes sticky and disintegrating, easily breaks apart and scratches. car has been kept in carport for the entire life of car. *tr
My 2007 toyota camry se has a melted dashboard that severely diminishes visibility when the sun is out. a reflection from the dashboard is displayed on the windshield and is like looking directly into the sun. sooner or later this is going to be the cause of an accident that may or may not result, but not limited to death. it is a defect on the part of toyota and should be addressed immediately before someone gets hurt. i have two small children and their lives should not be put in danger for an obvious defect that must be corrected. *tr
The dashboard in this car is melting and creating a glare on the windshield. it makes it hard to see. *tr
On 9/19/14, i spoke with "[xxx]", customer experience center, toyota headquarters regarding my melting dashboard. i explained that it's a security issue that toyota has been made aware of, and which i became aware of by local media. i informed her that there's a significant glare from my dashboard, and anything that comes in contact with it sticks, so i can't even use a visor. the local dealership in delray beach, fl has offered to replace the dashboard for an out-of-pocket expense to me of $600 (total reportedly normally $2000), however, i advised toyota headquarters that there should be no cost to me due to the known security issues, reported accidents, their company's integrity and my loyalty as a longtime toyota customer. [xxx] reminded me that my car was out of warranty, and that "out of respect for you, the dealership is offering you assistance. we don't have a recall notice or customer support for this vehicle, so there will be no further assistance." as a corporation, toyota should be ashamed and be proactive in resolving this issue. ultimately, someone will be successful in their misfortune when a loved one is seriously injured or dies in an accident attributed to the glare. toyota headquarters should have been willing to send me a voucher or my local dealership for the $600 to replace my dashboard. public opinion can affect their bottomline and they're obviously willing to put the public at risk to save a few dollars upfront. *tr
Melting dashboard. *tr
Dash is sticky. the glare is very dangerous due to the residue on the dash . no accident occurred. *tr
My dashboard is melting, and its only getting worse, cant clean it off,but aside from that i fear that in an emergency my passenger airbag will not properly deploy...this is a horrible yet scary issue to have...such a beautiful car with a melting dashboard,i am a big honda and toyota fan as for the rest off my family..and i can tell you this cannot be toyota quality of service, and i highly doubt that the cheap melting gum like materials used for these dashboards are not up to toyota standards.. *tr
Toyota should provide a recall regarding the replacement of a defective and potentially dangerous vehicle dashboard. my car is in excellent condition but for some reason the vehicle has a sticky, melting and dirty dashboard which is impossible to clean because if you touch it vanishes, while cleaning it. furthermore, when you drive on daylight is extremely difficult to drive with the glare coming from the dashboard, which definitely may cause a horrible accident, increasing the possibility for injury and even death along time. *tr
A few months ago, notice that the dashboard was sticky and very soft, it looks like melt rubber. i had been in car washes and after a couple of hours the melting sensation comes back. *tr
The top of the dashboard is tacky or sticky and extremely shiny. sunlight reflects off the surface of the dashboard, creating a glare that obstructs vision. the sticky nature of the dashboard surface makes it difficult to clean. the material is extremely soft and easy to damage. *tr
The dashboard is melting. it is very glossy and sticky. the gloss creates a glare when driving. when you touch it your hand gets stuck to the dashboard. *tr
The dashboard on my car is literally melting. it now has a glare that has created blind spots in the daytime which is very dangerous. i called toyota and the rep i spoke to flat out lied about there being an issue. she told me that due to the warranty expiration i would have to pay the full cost of replacing the dashboard. she said it was the first time she heard of it when i know that is not true due to a tv station report in florida reporting on the issue and the hundreds of camry owners that have the same issue. there should be a recall for this dashboard! i don't see why the consumer should have to pay to replace the dashboard when it is an obvious manufacturer defect. it should be recalled due to the blind spot it creates as well as it could be emitting toxic fumes from the melting substandard materials. *tr
My dash board is melting. it seems this is a current issue faced by many owners and toyota has yet to address it. it seems as if extreme heat will make the dashboard malleable and especially susceptible to nicks and scratches. it is impossible to clean. any rag, wipe, etc. leaves sticky fibers in the already tacky surface. *tr
My 2007 camry dashboard is melting on both sides . it's sticky and i always put a screen on the dashboard. i am concerned about the safety of my car. *tr
I have not had any accidents because of the melting dashboard and hope i don't. it is an issue that should be dealt with. it seems that toyota will not do anything about unless they are made to so. my dashboard has gotten soft and continues to get soft even though i keep it garaged. there are glares and gouges now. those are distracting and can easily result in me or someone else having a crash because of it. there are numerous complaints online regarding this issue.i have spoken to corporate and the local dealer and have come away frustrated. all they want to do is assist in the replacement of the dash, and i would have to pay$1100 myself. it not right for the consumer to pay such a price when the car maker has clearly made a defective product. *tr
This vehicle was purchased brand new at sterling mccall toyota, houston, texas in 2007. it has had only one owner and currently has approximately 148,00 miles. the concern on this vehicle is that the dashboard has melted within time, and sticky. this is in the area closest to the front windshield. with this being the case, the melted dash has become shiny in this area and causes an extreme inter glare. this causes a hazard with the driver during daylight driving hours. i have called multiple dealerships and informed them about the dashboard. all of the dealerships that i have contacted have told me that there are no recalls or technical service bulletins with this issue. i have researched the internet and have found a lot of complainants online with the same problem. thank you concerned consumer *tr
My dashboard is melting, very soft and sticky but most importantly is putting off some odor that could be dangerous chemically. appears that this is common in warm climates...such as florida. i am concerned that this could be toxic. toyota has refused to repair and indicated replacement would be near $2500. *tr
I was parking my car and when i went to stop car and turn it off, i experienced unexpected acceleration. car jumped the curb and crashed into the concrete barrier of the parking garage. *tr
The dashboard is melting and peeling. it is sticky and soft. this causes a glare and obstructs my view as well as makes objects stick onto it. *tr
The dashboard has a molten sticky appearance. it is extremely reflective and when in direct light (such as the sun) the glare is reflected onto the windshield. this causes a glare in the drivers eyes which is very dangerous whilst in motion. other customers have described this phenomena as the "dashboard melting". *tr
The dashboard on my vehicle is melting. it's sticky, looks wet, and on some days it actually feels like clay. when the sun is out it's very difficult to see due to the intense glare. there have been many days i try to look at the right side of the road when there's been oncoming traffic like you do when someone is coming at you with their hi-beams on. there have been numerous vehicle safety complaints made concerning this issue but no recalls have been issued. with the amount of people reporting the exact same issue its time for someone to step up and make others with the ability to help do the right thing. this is nonsense. *tr
The dashboard is melting. there is a reflection from the melting dashboard causing a glare on the windshield making it difficult to see clearly while driving in direct sunlight. *tr
Dashboard material melts in warm and sunny conditions. dash becomes excessively sticky and has developed a shiny surface that causes continuous glare (under sunny conditions) causing visibility problems for the driver. ongoing safety issue and well documented for this camry model/year. *tr
Melting dashboards become sticky, shiny and cracked. you can see where i've accidentally nicked it and the thing comes off. it's very hard to drive when you're blinded by glare and you don't see a big portion of the road. it's just melting more and more every day. i have kids, is not safe, i am sure is toxic and is not only melting but also breaking and my kids can eat it. *tr
My dashboard is melting. it's become extremely sticky and shiny. i do not use any chemicals or other products on the dashboard .this seems to be a very well known problem with so many customers reporting the same problem and yet toyota does not recall. the plastic is failing. it's dangerous because it's so terribly shiny. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard had a sticky and shiny substance, which caused the sunlight to reflect onto the windshield and obstructed the driver's view. the dealer advised that the dashboard needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the dashboard was not replaced. the failure mileage was 25,000.
Noticed my dash board was getting to be a sticky mess i keep it cleaned and parked under my carport. now it is like it is melting and my finger nail went through it. also the dash gets shiny and makes a glare when i drive. i cant believe a car dash would do this. i think toyota needs to replace it before it gets worse and an accident it caused. *tr
My dash board is melting and it has a shiny glare when the sun hits the dash it causes a glare and you can not see good out of the wind shield. it is very dangerous and toyota will not fix this manufacturer defect that so many of us owners do have the same problem. i bought my toyota brand new and i noticed after about 3 years of owning the car that the dash was very sticky and shiny. i did take it to hollywood toyota and they said they would fix it if i paid half. since this was a manufacture defect i told them that i would not be willing to pay for this awful product that they made. its very dangerous and it should be recalled. *tr
Dashboard has begun to deteriorate. it has a sticky film on it that reflects sunlight into the driver's face. the dashboard has begun to be very sticky and looks like it's going to start to fall apart. more than aesthetically disappointing is the safety issue. the reflection from the defective dashboard makes it difficult to see the road at times. *tr
Vehicle dash has become very sticky. noticed that there are now nicks missing from dash. curious and concerned i began to examine them closer and feeling the areas where the nicks where. shocked to feel the dash was very sticky and mushy. never felt anything like this before in any vehicles i have ever owned, even vehicles years older than this (2007). i'm scared to clean or even touch for fear it may become stickier. your hand literally sticks to the dash. *tr
Dashboard melting. local toyota dealer stated toyota left off chemical that prevents whether deliberate or accidential unknown but will do nothing. *js
The dash board and side panels are melting. also very sticky. *js
